My wife and I were talking and shopping at La Contera in San Antonio TX. We hopped right in to the Bake Shop and found wonderful confections and all types of deserts that tingle the taste buds! The staff was wonderful and spoke to us like we were family. A friendly and loving atmosphere! We gree fond of this cake shop and will always be loyal customers. I appreciate the person to person interactions in the fact that the shop exudes excellence. Thank you for your time, staff, and treats.

Great place to stop while at La Cantera. Got cannoli and lobster tail. The lobster tail tail was amazing! Save your sweet tooth for Carlos Bake Shop

Google
First time at Carlo's today. We had a slice of red velvet cake and cappuccino. It was excellent. We also ordered the fancy butter cookies tray to enjoy for breakfast this week. Service was great and quick. We will be back. Thank you!

Google
Yummy lil sweet treats! If you love dark chocolate, get the dark chocolate mousse! It's so decadent. The strawberry short cake is amazing and the danishes are huge.

Google
Ordered on uber eats and I really am struggling to understand the poor reviews unless they totally changed chefs recently. We ordered the apple pie, cheesecake, and “lobster tail”, and it was all SO unbelievably good!! can’t wait to eat it all again.

Google
First time at a Carlo’s Bake Shop. Purchased a number of different items to try. The cannolis, apple pastry, chocolate layer cake and lobster tail were our favorites. We would get any of these items again. The strawberry short cake and carrot cake were on the dry side. The strawberries were not fresh. The cakes were all pre-sliced and packaged. Not sure if a whole cake would taste differently.

I went with my wife from Corpus Christi just to buy the cannoli (we do it often) but this time we were ripoff because one the cannoli had only to drops of filling and we saw that once we are at home and had nothing to do about that, regularly the cannolis are good and well filled but this time was a bummer.

Google
Oh my goodness! Let's push that diabetes to its max! So many great pastries to check out, eat, take home, order and just admire. The bakery smells so good once you enter. Coffee choices and other drinks (non-alcoholic) to choose from also. I'll definitely be back to get my fix again!

Yelp
This place is too expensive. $10 for a small fruit tart, and it wasn't even any good. Skip this place and go to Bakery Lorraine if you want a good fruit tart.

Yelp
We had stopped in for the first time to grab some lobster tails because a friend raved about them. I don't see why. They were stale slightly undercooked in my option. The filling was delicious on both the original and the hazelnut. But I could not get past the stale of these . We also purchased a m&m cookie which was delicious. 10/10 would not go back. I went to the website to leave a formal complaint with no space to do so.

Yelp
We came in after lunch & everything looked delicious! It was difficult to choose between all the yummy goodness! I finally decided on the cupcake with the Santa hat decor & my hubby selected a snickerdoodle cookie. They were both delicious! The staff was friendly, the place was clean & inviting.
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
Butter cookies were delicious. Chocolate cupcake was OK. Chocolate croissant was nasty; the croissant was dry and stale and the chocolate was barely there. Yuk! The chocolate cannoli was mediocre. Disappointing and expensive!

Yelp
The food was delicious! First time here and loved it. The restaurant was clean and decorated really cool. The staff was very friendly and helpful! I loved that they were patient and helpful when ordering. Everything we ordered was made fresh and the biscuits were cooked perfectly. I felt that the portions were perfect and I left here feeling very satisfied.

Yelp
I used to be a HUGE Carlo's fan but they have clearly stopped baking things fresh in store daily. The last two times (most recent being tonight) we have been in the lobster tails which are usually amazing flaky and delicious have been chewy as if they've sat for days or been frozen/shipped in. It's quite sad that they've sacrificed the quality of the pastries for quantity. I won't be wasting my money again on overpriced chewy and nasty baked goods.
google avatar

Yelp
Went in today and nobody was in there. I asked what was in the Lobster Tail and before I could finish my sentence, the lady behind the counter told me it was filled with French cream. She didn't seem to be very helpful...more like I was interrupting something. So to make a long story short, I ordered the pumpkin spice cannoli, and I got the lobster tail. I am not sure if they're having the stuff flown in from Chicago where a buddy is actually at, but that's what it taste like the chocolate and the cannoli were so hard. The lobster tail the pastry puff pastry was hard and chewy. I will not go back especially for the price $12.50!

Yelp
This was my second visit to Carlo's bakery and I'm happy to share this experience with my cousin for the first time. We devoured a cannoli and a lobster tail. The texture of the puff pasty and the quality of the cream was so nice and fluffy. To top it off, the service from Emmelanio was wonderful!

Yelp
Cake Boss was one of my favorite shows growing up so when I found out they were making one in San Antonio I freaked. It's been at La Cantera for a while and every time I go I have to get a cannoli they are just so damn good. The filling consistency is almost like cheesecake and yogurt had a kid- it's creamy but not too dense. It's pretty sweet and has little chocolate chips mixed in The fried pastry dough adds a nice crunchy texture and it wasn't greasy. As you can see- there are so many more dessert options to choose from and they are all SO PRETTY You know Carlo's Bakery is the real deal and you don't need me to tell you how good it is because obviously if it wasn't good there wouldn't be a TLC show about it. Love you Buddy. Thanks for everything you've done and for making dank cannolis. ‍

Yelp
Omg, when you walk in the taste of sweetness just fills your heart! Everything looks so delicious! In couldn't help myself and purchased way too much but man... WITH NO REGRET! Love how they sell pre-packaged slices of cake! The chocolate cake slice and the red velvet cake slice were AMAZING!!! I also got 2 peanut butter cookies for my husband and he LOVED them.

Emma G.

Yelp
Cake was very stale and disgusting I was very disappointed that they just gave me a $8 slice that could've tasted better if I made it myself. Carlos watch your back.

Yelp
Saturday afternoon no line up. I got my red velvet fixing cake. It was delicious, but $8,50 for a slice . This slice can be eaten by 2 people. Of course I will come back

Yelp
For over 10 years I was always a fan of Carlo's Bakery. Surprisingly, I ran into one of his shops! I could remember almost all of his episodes; it brings back personal memories of my own. It's great to see how much the brand has expanded. Okay okay back to the review lol. I ordered the chocolate fudge cake for myself, carrot cake, and red velvet cake for my family. I must say, I love my chocolate fudge cake. It's not overly sweet so you can really enjoy the entire cake, including the frosting. It was moist, and rich of chocolate. I had no complaints and I am excited to try the different pastries offered. This was my first time and definitely not my last!

Yelp
The atmosphere was awesome and the displays were even better! I had always wanted to visit the store since I am a fan of the show of course. I was skeptical on what treats they might have or even the ones I should try! I choose to get 3 different kind of cannolis and a chocolate chip cookie! I was not disappointed at all. The cannolis had great flavor and texture all around. The cookie was a little dry but I did go later in the day so was probably made that morning. Overall was a great time and delicious treats. Will be visiting again!

Pam P.

Yelp
Once again Leah is the rock of Carlos Bakery! Always friendly, with a smile , and gives exemplary service! I will say she needs help. This is the third time visiting the bakery, with a line out the door., and only one baker. Leah is amazing always ... give her a raise! Thank you Leah for your service and always giving 100% toward your customers

Yelp
Went in Wanting sweet treat and out of curiosity since there is usually a long line. 1st thing I asked is "when was the cake baked ". the answer I received was as disappointing as the cake itself. The lady responded sharply with " I don't know, I'm not the Baker!" So when you're working at a bake shop shouldn't you know the answer to this simple question? She didn't even care to turn to a coworker and ask. They all by the way were all standing around doing nothing. Now for the carrot cake-- it was packaged like a convenient store sandwich , so I shouldn't have expected much but, for the price I did expect it to be much better than it actually was. It definitely did not meet my expectation, bland and boring! I will definitely not be returning! Lastly, why do you except a tip when all you did was pull a slice of cake out of the refrigerator and put it in a bag with no napkins! Tips are for good and welcoming Customer service! I didn't get either!

Yelp
We had been wanting to try Carlo's Bakery for quite a while and finally decided to give it a go. The shop was clean and seemed well organized, though it was very empty when we went in they seem to have a good technique to control a crowd if need be, come in one door, pass the counters and order, then make your way to check out. I have seen Carlo's, and the owner Buddy on Food Network, and we mainly wanted to try the lobster tails, so we got a 4 pack of them, and also added a mini cherry cheesecake cup. The desserts themselves were quite good. The lobster tails are a pastry that looks similar to a croissant filled with a custard/pastry cream. They are very good, the texture of the outside of the pastry is harder than a standard croissant (in a good way) maybe because it is baked with some sugar, I don't know but it works especially when paired with the rich custard filling, they are delicious. The cheesecake was also good, but it was crustless, a cup filled with cheesecake topped with a tasty chewy pie type filling, a dollop of whipped cream and a small amount of what I believe was crumbled cake. This was good, but I like a crust on my cheesecake, and this could really have used a graham cracker crust both for the texture and flavor. The cheesecake itself was, well cheesecake, it tasted good and had good texture, but I have had equally good or better plenty of times from plenty of places or at home. The cherry compote mix was excellent, and gave the dish a nice acidity that worked really well to bring it up a level, but the ratio was off with too much cheesecake to too little cherry mix, and zero crust. So all in all the food we tried probably rates 4 stars, the cheesecake was good, but lack of crust drops it a bit, the lobster tails were very good, but the cost of the items, around $20.00 for 4 lobster tails seems pricy considering each one is about 4 inches long and like a half croissant, an alright price to try once in a while or on a special occasion, but I would probably not get regularly. They are very good, but if you are getting them for a group the price climbs quickly, and though the quality is good, you are also paying for the name on the door. So did we enjoy the pastries we got, yes they tasted good, and having never tried the lobster tails before it was very neat to try them, but will we go again, maybe, but we would not go out of our way for them, and if we were walking past it would just depend if we would pop in. But it is definitely a tasty once in a blue moon treat to try, and always interesting to get to try some of the things you see on TV.

Yelp
I was pretty disappointed with this place. Obviously it wasn't going to be like what you see on TV so I went in with low expectations. They are taking covid seriously, only allowing a certain amount of people in the store. They also require you to wear a mask, which was nice and maybe one of the positives. First, service was not the best. It was our first time there and the girl was not very helpful on helping us pick out things to try. She didn't really interact with us much and it seemed as though she was just rushing us out of the store. Second, apparently they have a rewards program: we had no idea and when we ask about it. We got a shrug and a "eh, don't worry about it". I just feel like you'd want to give your customers some sort of incentive to come back but I guess some people don't care. Some positives though: I thought the treats were great. They were fairly priced compared to other bakeries or dessert places. The strawberries and cream donut thing we got was $6 and incredibly delicious. The cookie was $4 and really good but compared to the other items we got, $4 for the cookie was ridiculous. I do want to come back and actually try a cake next time. See if it's worth the hype but I don't think I'd stop back by for a "just because" again.

Yelp
Huge fan of the show, and have been to the location in Dallas and up north. This one was just kind of disappointing in both attitude and taste. A bakery can't live just off the name alone, which I know they make delicious pastries usually. The lobster tail was so cold and dry, and for two, the cost felt really overpriced. The filling flavor was good, but it wasn't right because of hard instead of light and flaky the shell was supposed to be. The other desserts that were out just looked like they've been sitting there for a while. We were the only 2 people in the bakery but we still felt a little rushed, and it was also FREEZING in here, like I wanted to leave while I was ordering because it was so cold.
google avatar

Tanya T.

Yelp
I don't see what the big deal is. It's just regular cake, not anything amazing. Could have made myself a box cake and been just as happy with it. Also there are better cookies at the Great America Cookie company at the mall.
google avatar

Alsor S.

Yelp
There was nothing amazing about the San Antonio version of Carlo's bakery. It was smallish and located not far from Barnes & Nobles at La Cantera Mall. I went in for a slice of cake, but, the reviews I read and the prices discouraged that whim. So, what did I do? I ordered an original cannoli for me and an oatmeal raisin cookie for my Dad. The cannoli tasted fine, but was less than what I expected from an Italian bakery owned by an Italian guy with a food show on tv. My two items were pricey (but you kind of expect expensive prices when you're shopping at La Cantera Mall since the rent has to be high.). And, like I said at the beginning, there was nothing amazing about Carlo's Bakery. The food lovers of San Antonio and our tourists are going to need them to step up their game.
google avatar

Monica P.

Yelp
It was overpriced and they really didn't have anything good at all.. I was expecting to find a variety of his goodies and nope not even a cake to purchase and what they had was prepackaged and looked old. The service was somewhat ok there was only 1 person and she really didn't look like she wanted to be there. The inside of the store seemed more like a cafeteria line ambiance was ahh.
google avatar

Tiffanie E.

Yelp
Look MA! Something we saw on TV! We were actually excited to try this bakery because of the hype. It's a store front and the baking happens right out in the open, so that's kind of cool. There are a lot of options to choose from, and I was craving a cupcake, but the flavors didn't really stand out to me, and there were things that did not have labels. The girl behind the counter really didn't offer any suggestions when asked and she wasn't able to answer any of our questions about allergies, flavors or anything. Hubby settled for a danish with a butter crumble thing on top. I got a "pecan" brownie, according to the clerk. I wish I had gotten a cream puff tho. The brownie was dry and had walnuts in it. It lacked flavor and crumbled apart. Hubby's danish was "alright," but he didn't finish it, which speaks volumes. We are excited to try the Vegas location tho!

Yelp
I made an online order for pick up the next morning when they opened. I guess I thought things would be freshly baked. My imagination of walking into the actual Carlo's Bakery was that of the freshly baked desserts I see on Buddy's show. Instead, what I received was a very pricey cake slice wrapped in a sealed plastic pouch like what you see at the convenience store sandwhich isle. When we got home and opened it, it was dry and very bland. Our lobster tails were so hard in some places we couldn't even bite it. The cannoli was not crispy at all. It was very much the consistency of pita bread. I did not enjoy them at all. We also had cupcakes that just did not seem freshly made that morning. Everything tasted like the day old section at the grocery store. I wanted to love it so badly and I just did not. Sorry Buddy.

Sarah L.

Yelp
I know it's commercial but honestly, I like this place. Brought my kids for a visit because they love watching Cake Boss. Considering it's popularity, I thought the prices were fair. Two big pastries that four of us shared was $10 and some change and they were delicious. Their cakes were running about $30-$35 each and looked huge. I would stick to trying the pastries and cakes as I heard from others who sampled there that day that the cookies and cupcakes were just ok. But you can get cookies/cupcakes anywhere in town so come here for the goods-stuff you can't find elsewhere around here like cannolis, lobster tails. As an Italian in San Antonio, it's one of the few places in the city I can get an authentic cannoli and "share some of my culture" with the kids. They also have a selection of merchandise for all you Cake Boss fans out there, I saw water bottles, aprons, shirts.

Yelp
Always enjoy coming here for a quick treat. Sometimes they are sold out of drinks. Staff is friendly, and they have a point system. Place is clean

Yelp
I love Carlo's bakery. This is my go to when i want to satisfy my sweet tooth. Their strawberry cheesecake is hands down the best cheesecake I've ever had. I love that the cheesecake is gluten free. So delicious

Yelp
The name gives it hype and customers. The quality is not great at all we bought a like.3-4 differing items to share. After a bite of each item it all went into the trash. Please save your money as it was almost $30 for 4 items and go to a local bakery where it is fresh and I'm sure very more delicious.

Charles O.

Yelp
This is one place where you wish you had not only the money, but the stomach room to buy everything in the display case. The Dessert items in there were amazing! Almost went into diabetic coma just looking at the items in the case! The peanut butter and regular flavored cannolis that we got were of good quality and taste. The peanut butter was a little bit on the light side though. All the cakes that you see there are made on site with scratch ingredients. Every item in there is made according to Buddy's recipes. The rainbow cake would drive you crazy trying to figure out what flavor is in each color. This cake was made in honor of his father, who loved rainbows, for they were signs of God's promise. The young ladies that were providing us service were very friendly, and patient with us, as we were trying to figure out what item to finally settle upon. They were gracious and helpful. And to all veterans out there, they offer a little discount which and today's world any little bit helps. The ambience of the place even though it was small, it was very clean and bright, and all the signage was very informative. Only thing about the signs were I wish they had it just a little bit lower. Little bit difficult on this old neck.

Yelp
Cute little bakery shop in the Shops at La Cantera. This is Buddy Valastro's bakery. He's also known as the Cake Boss on TLC. It's a small bakery with LOTS of options-- cakes, cake slices, cupcakes, cookies, and cannoli's. Once you walk through the door, there are ropes to help guide you through the ordering line. The first person will take your order and as you maneuver further down the line, they'll get it all packed up and ready to go by the time you reach the check out desk. I got myself a strawberry shortcake cupcake, cannoli, and sprinkle sugar cookie. All of it was great. I found it to be reasonably priced-- my order was under $10 (yes for three items but it's the Cake Boss' shop! Of course I'm going to spend the money!) There is NO sitting room in the bakery. It's an order and go type of place but their packaging is great. My cupcake was placed in a cupcake shaped plastic container so that the frosting was never smushed. I appreciated that.

Yelp
I don't even live in SA any more and they were promoting the opening of this bakery so heavily that I heard about it constantly for the last month. So naturally, I had to pop by when I came into town despite the fact that I live in Vegas, where we have our own location and I haven't felt at all compelled to visit previously. Tiny spot has dozens of gorgeous cakes on display and signage up about happy hour? They've been open about a month and were still pretty busy upon opening, but line wasn't out the door as rumored. All orders are packed as takeout, despite proximity to the courtyard area with tables nearby. Opted for a slice of the rainbow cake and a vanilla latte. Order placed at cake counter, called to pickup coffee 5 minutes later, then called to register for cake 10 minutes after that. Unclear why packing one slice of cake takes 15 minutes but at least it's not sitting waiting to go at $7/each. The product itself? Surprisingly solid. Slice is pricey but a shareable size. Cake itself was the right texture and held up despite a trek clear across town in the heat. Frosting was sweeter than I would prefer. Latte was really good too, not too sweet and the correct temperature.

Yelp
I went to Carlos bakery but not impressed I can get the same stuff down the street from where I live prices are way too high and the food the sweets it just average nothing spectacular pretty much disappointed the lobster pills was good everything else was average not much of a selection they had that day Your parents would be disappointed

Yelp
Delicious cakes! My brother ordered cake slices from this place to surprise my husband and I for our wedding anniversary. I've heard of Carlo's bakery but never been or tried it until now. My favorite was the rainbow cake (it wasn't overtly sweet) but all the cake slices tasted great (minus the red velvet which was more on the sweeter end). I love how they packaged each slice carefully and it tasted great.
google avatar

Kenny L.

Yelp
Of course, I came here because my husband loves any confections and we watched Cake Boss! Apparently, when we went there was a "short line" as my brother-in-law stated it was short since the line was not out the door lol. There was a long line inside and it took roughly 15 mins to place an order and another 15 to wait for everything. And we went about 45 minutes before they closed, so yeah... it's a very popular place! I am not much of a sweet tooth person so my family loved their cakes and hot chocolate. I will say that my In-laws stated that the cakes although delicious tasted like it was in the refrigerated display for a long time so maybe don't go two hours before closing? Lol. Here is why I chose 4 stars - the COFFEE! I am a Starbucks drinker religiously and I really wanted coffee and I am very picky with my coffee, so I decided to go for it and I was not disappointed. The coffee was very fresh, the taste of the coffee bean was profound and exquisite. I ordered the dark roast and it was just perfect. It was just so fresh and good. Coffee lovers I recommend the coffee here.

Yelp
Stopped in while at the mall and got lucky.... WOOOOO HOOOOO, NO LINE. Everyone is greeted as they walk in. The place smelled amazing.. I'm not sure I could work here. I'd be fired for eating everything in site.. lol We ordered a few goodies. 1. Lobster Tail 2. Cannoli 3. Raspberry Tart Everything was really good. I'm looking forward to popping in again and trying a few more goodies.

Yelp
So disappointing. I bought a vanilla cupcake, black and white cookie, cannoli, and a lobster tail. The vanilla cupcake was incredibly dry. It completely crumbled apart when I bit into it. I was also let down that it seemed to be frosted with American style buttercream. The frosting was sickly and there wasn't a whole lot of good vanilla flavor. Nothing about this cupcake seemed to be made from scratch. It tasted and looked like a cupcake you'd get at Costco. The black and white cookie had the same problem. The fondant icing was incredibly overwhelming and the cookie portion was so dry, flavorless, and tasted like it came from a grocery store. The cannoli was soggy so after one bite I gave up on it. The texture was just too weird. The lobster tail was expensive and so much smaller than I was expecting. The pastry itself seemed stale and was hard to bite into. The cream was surprisingly decent but didn't really make up for the fact I had to struggle to even bite into it. With so many amazing local bakeries in SA, it is not even worth it to visit Carlos. Buddy V really did not live up to his reputation with this one.

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
Stopped in to grab a coffee on our way out the mall. Asked for cream and they had no cream, asked for sugar and they had no sugar. Not sure I've ever encountered as bad customer service as we did at this place. It was truly like we were causing a huge inconvenience by coming in. Worse employee attitude I've ever seen.

Yelp
The whole experience was good. Not perfect or over-the-top great service. I went on a Saturday afternoon with no wait line. I ordered the vanilla cannoli, vanilla rainbow cake and iced vanilla latte. Cannoli was OKAY, cake was GOOD and the coffee was AWESOME. Cake was pre-packaged (like the ones in vending machines in Vegas) so I'm sure it isn't fresh. But I would definitely stop by again for a cake and the iced latte.

Yelp
I am so pleasantly surprised at how great our donut was. I honestly wasn't expecting it to be any different than your average bakery

grace e.

Yelp
red velvet cake slice so mushy it could have been grits. bout broke a tooth on my cannoli.
google avatar

Carl S.

Yelp
I have been to the original Carlo's Bakery and this franchise extension is nothing like the original. We bought a cannoli cake which I am guessing was sitting in the bakery for a few days. It was completely dry and the cannoli on top was soft from having the cream in it for too long. We also bought one of the combo packages with a couple of cannolis, an Italian horn and some cookies. It all tasted mass produced and wasn't worth the high price they charge just to shop at "Carlo's Bakery." We wasted about $75 on some horrible, dried out, mass produced bakery items. The bakery at H-E-B is about 100X better for a fraction of the price.

Yelp
My kids have always been a fan of the show "Cake Boss " and usually make a beeline for the Vegas bakery each year when we are there - that place drives me crazy though as it's always packed with a crazy, disorganized line and payment system. Tried the SA location today and it's much faster and somewhat more organized but is still upset by its system - you get in line, they take your order then wrap it up so when you get to the front of the line at the register it's not necessarily your turn to pay as they may call whoever's order is ready to go and have them pay which slows down the system but it is what it is and hey, still faster than the Vegas store!! The pastries are always great - my kids usually pick two things - Cannolis and Lobster Tails - which is what we got today. They are very rich and very sweet so we are happy to just all dig in and share them between us all as I am sure they are calorie bombs but hey you have to indulge every now and the and Carlos is a good way to go! Thanks he pastries were fresh, crisp and the filling delicious !! There is plenty to choose from - cookies , crazy big cake slices, cup cakes, and it reminds me of the traditional pastry shops I grew up with back in the UK. We were in and out of there is about 10 minutes - two pastries were about $9 but worth it for an indulgent treat

Yelp
Heard a lot about this place and I just got done watching the first season of Buddy vs Duff so I had to finally come check it out. It's located inside of the La Cantera mall right by Lids and Kona Grill. The inside is clean and inviting with nicely displayed pastries, cakes and all kind of other sweets. We went around 3:30 in the afternoon so there was no line or wait. I ordered the traditional lobster tail and my fiancee got the french doughnut with strawberries and cream. +The lobster tail was delicious. The pastry itself was flaky and crunchy on the outside and sprinkled with powdered sugar, and the inside was filled with a sweet and cool cream. The cream was heavier than a whipped cream and kind of reminiscent of half melted vanilla ice cream. +The french doughnut with strawberries and cream was also very tasty. The doughnut was sprinkled with powdered sugar, sliced in half and had a nice sweet taste and texture. It surprisingly held up well with the filling. The filling was a traditional light whipped cream and there were fresh strawberries sliced and placed on the bottom bun. A strawberries and cream sandwich pretty much. Carlo's Bakery was good but difficult to give an accurate grade from just going one time and trying 2 things. It was a little pricey but definitely good enough for me to return and try more things.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place for a long time. Came in as a first time customer and didn't feel the love. Possibly the worst customer service of any bakery I've ever been in. Asked a few questions and wqs responded to very sharply. Probably will never visit again. It's a shame that people work hard to create a name and a business just to be ruined by employees.

Yelp
Looked to be a reputable place with proper ambiance so stopped in to check this place out. Some fresh bakery was on display and some packaged (that's strange). Baked when??? Ordered a cannoli. While I'm not an expert on them, I didnt think it was amazing. I think the biggest turn off was the customer service. The gal working the counter was a bit curt in her responses. There were quite a few employees, and most just seemed to be standing around. The problem there is it is costly to have inefficiency. That cost gets passed on to the customer. I also am turned off by being asked for gratuity in this type of food industry. No gratuity should be expected if you didn't seat me, didnt bring me water, didnt check in on me and certainly not clean up after me. Overall just a fancy cover with very little writing on the inside. H‑E‑B has better cake for half the price.

Yelp
Lets be real, this is one of those places that people aren't going to read the ratings...They are going for the experience you see on TV, to feel like your apart of something....Which hey....Is exactly what happened to me when my wife said she wanted to go! lol I don't understand why people wait in a line, which visibly is slow moving to getting a piece of cake that looks impressive, but tastes ust as good as HEBs! Waited for 20-25 min to get through the line to order....To wait another 10 to pay...f it were just me, I wouldn't have waited....Either way, my wife got the chocolate cannoli, she wasn't overly impressed. I got the carrot cake.....Well, you know how I felt about that! Wife's friend got cheesecake, again same verdict....Not overly impressed. I would look for a different bakery or somewhere to have dessert, and have it planned in your back pocket, in the event you get there, and it looks like the line at Disney...You been warned, if you made it this fa!

Yelp
The dessert was off the charts. I had the American Napoleon and my wife had the cheesecake. Mine was by far better. They had a wide array and selection. The American Napoleon was layers of a crunchy cake between layers of frosting and cream. They don't move very quick and not a sense of urgency. The desserts are wrapped up with care but I would have preferred jumping into the sweetness. No need to tape up the box.

Yelp
I ordered and paid online for a cake for my mother's birthday 2 days before pickup. When we show up, they didn't have my order, and they couldn't find it. Thank God I had a confirmation text and email because I almost had to walk out of there with no cake at all. So instead of a freshly made cake, we ended up leaving with a pre-made red velvet from the display counter. Later that day, after we cut into the cake, we found that it tasted weird, and the cake itself was dry. No one wanted to eat it after doing a 2nd bite, and no one wanted to take it home. My mother, who is a huge fan of cake boss, was very disappointed. She said the cakes at HEB and Walmart taste better than what I got her from Carlo's Bakery. So from pick up to eating, it was a horrible experience. She was with me the whole time, and it was our first time going into Carlo's Bakery. I'm still in shock on how bad it all went down. I've never had an experience like this with the local bakeries I normally order from. So thanks for ruining my mother's 64th birthday Carlo's. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to get the quality I paid for. Just shows reputation isn't everything.

Yelp
Ever since Carlo's Bakery opened up, my family and I have bought our special occasion cakes here. We loved watching their show on TV and have always wanted to try their wonderful goodies. We have tried the fudge ganache, cookies and cream, and chocolate mousse cakes. All were very good. My favorite was the fudge ganache. There are many other cakes that I want to try but we always end up buying them last minute so our options are limited. We have also tried the lobster claw, cannoli, cheesecake. The lobster claw was eh, ok. The cannoli is pretty good, and cheesecake was alright. I think the best item to buy are the cakes. I really want to try the rainbow cakes, they look so beautiful!!! If you haven't tried this bakery, you should. The employees are very helpful and nice. If the desserts don't put a smile on your face, the employee definitely will. For the military folks out there, they do give a military discount.
