I really struggled with leaving this review. I generally only like to leave positive ones but this trip was disappointing… Last week I called to place an order for a brisket for Thanksgiving. We aren’t turkey people, only a few of us this year so why not? Having been left without a specific cut of meat in the last for not pre-ordering, I called and put in my reservation, a 6-7lb brisket! I’ve been talking about that Thanksgiving brisket for a week and a half! Everyone was super excited for it, something other than Turkey!! I was scheduled to pick up Tuesday but was out running errands on Monday so I called to ask it if was available, it was so I went to get it! All I could think about on my drive out was getting it ready, what I was going to season it with, what time I needed to get the smoker going, still trying to decide between a foil vs butcher paper wrap, just obsessing over brisket prep. I get to the retail shop, give them my name, the cashier finds my invoice, puts it in front of me, starts to ring me up and I notice the weight… 14.7lbs… double my reserved weight. I ask if her if that was mine and she confirmed it was, it was the smallest one that came on the truck apparently... isn’t the point of a reservation so the cut and size I wanted was on the truck?? I love me some brisket, but 14.7 lbs for 5 people is a lot of meat and way more than I want to deal with. I opted for a tri tip, which I have no doubt will be amazing, their meat always is, but what a let down… if you can’t count on your butcher to get you the cut of meat you want, who can you count on?? To quote Jerry Seinfeld, “Anyone can take a reservation, but honoring the reservation, is really the most important part of the reservation process”
