2024 Best International Hotel Bars

"A scenic alpine hotel bar with sweeping views over Lake St. Moritz, two open fireplaces, and a beverage program that balances theatrical, Instagram‑ready cocktails with more indulgent offerings; highlights include a martini served with caviar and an Alpine Flowers cocktail that blends rum, vanilla patchouli, black currant, yuzu, and glacier 'snow' to marry luxury with provenance." - Tyler Zielinski

Carlton Hotel St. Moritz (St. Moritz, Swiss Alps) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s the rare classic grand hotel that actually lives up to its storied reputation — in this case it’s because the Carlton St. Moritz hasn’t been shy about renovating. On the theory that its rather demanding high-end guests could forgive a bit of contemporary design, especially in the service of a technological modernization, they’ve left the building pretty much as it was, but handed the interiors over to the designer Carlo Rampazzi to do with as he wished." - Tablet Hotels

Carlton Hotel St. Moritz Hotel Review | Hotels Above Par

"Nestled above Lake St. Moritz and open for the winter season (early December–late March), this five‑star alpine resort combines early 20th‑century grandeur (built in 1913) with modern renovations completed in 2007 and refreshed again in 2024. The 60 south‑facing rooms and suites—designed by Carlo Rampazzi—start at 45 m² and pair warm, inviting finishes with contemporary technology; the penthouse occupies the entire eighth floor (386 m²) with three bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, an open living and dining area, a fireplace and five terraces. Culinary offerings range from a newly renovated Grand Restaurant led by Executive Chef Salvatore Frequente, who highlights seasonal wild ingredients from local forests and alpine meadows, to the two‑Michelin‑starred Da Vittorio by the Cerea brothers; more casual options include the hotel bar, Bel Etage and a sun terrace famed for afternoon tea and panoramic vistas. Distinctive on‑site experiences include cozy fondue gondolas on the ground floor, concierge‑curated outdoor activities (an Outdoor Butler, husky sledding and horse‑drawn carriage rides through nearby Lej da Staz), and family programming such as the Schellen‑Ursli Kids Club. The 1,200 m² spa spans three floors with six treatment rooms, a 35 m² spa suite with whirlpool and sauna, extensive sauna facilities (steam bath, caldarium, Finnish and private saunas), experience showers, an ice fountain, a Kneipp snow path and an indoor‑outdoor relaxation pool, alongside a modern fitness center and swimming pool. Typical booking perks include upgrade on arrival (subject to availability), daily breakfast for two, a $100 spa credit per room per stay (an additional $100 for penthouse bookings), early check‑in/late check‑out subject to availability, and complimentary Wi‑Fi; packages may also include ski tickets and lessons. Rates are premium (starting around CHF 1,310 in low season, CHF 1,624 mid‑season and about CHF 2,660 in high season), and the closest airport is Engadin Airport."

Who hasn't been to the Carlton as if he hadn't exist! (At least at in virtual tour:) It's a huge complex and you have to find your place and your community in it. But in winter, when you enter the Carlton, you enter a fairy tale. Sometimes, when we return from our trip to Prague, I remember it at night and imagine myself as a snowflake flying onto the balcony of the apartment where we slept. Thank you for maintaining this beauty and harmony in an increasingly disharmonious world.

I had a great staying! The staff is very gentle and available, the rooms are big, the interior of the hotel is elegant and cozy and the lake view is just priceless. The best part of all was the spa, one of the best I’ve been to. Also 5 stars for the Grand Restaurant at the hotel!

A home away from home – pure perfection at the Carlton St. Moritz Staying at the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz is always an unforgettable experience, and our most recent visit once again exceeded all expectations. You are welcomed with exceptional hospitality and impeccable service from the moment you arrive. A special mention goes to the concierge team, whose professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail make every stay seamless and truly special. One of the must-do experiences during the winter season is dining in the fondue gondolas, a tradition we eagerly anticipate each year. The cosy atmosphere, outstanding cuisine, and friendly, attentive staff make this an absolute highlight of our visit. Of course, no stay at the Carlton would be complete without taking in the breathtaking views – the panoramic scenery overlooking Lake St. Moritz and the surrounding valley is simply spectacular and adds to the magic of this incredible hotel. A heartfelt thank you to the entire Carlton team for another phenomenal stay. We can’t wait to return!
