"Days around Carmel can be action-packed—hiking the coast, hitting the beach, and road-tripping to Big Sur. In between it all, grab a quick meal at Carmel Belle. This always-busy, counter-service cafe is perfect for a morning fuel-up with breakfast sandwiches, yogurt and granola, or more substantial options like a mushroom melt topped with poached eggs and truffle oil. The space is big and bustling, with plenty of tables and a lounge area with couches surrounding a fireplace. If you come later in the day, you can fulfill your daily vegetable quota with towering salads, protein-loaded grain bowls, and full-fledged entrées like grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and vegetables." - allison green, clara hogan

Absolutely loved being here. The gentleman who took my order at about 7:30am? was very kind. I appreciated this lovely place so early on a cool quiet Tuesday morning. Thank you! The coffee was excellent as well.

Google
Cafe located inside the mall at Carmel. They have pastries, coffee, and meal options here, plus they sell pantry items like honey. Lots of seating, like a good court. We got some iced coffees, great taste. Service was pretty fast, and very friendly. Order from the counter on the left and pickup from a separate counter on the right.

Google
Stumbled upon Carmel Belle during a torrential downpour in Carmel, and wow, what a delightful surprise! The cafe vibe is cozy and inviting, perfect for escaping the rain. The food? Absolutely delicious with excellent choices, and the tofu scramble is a must-try—just brilliant. Prices are quite reasonable for Carmel too. The service is great; though they're always busy, everyone is super friendly. The only snag is the seating—it's a bit of a scramble since it's free for all once you order. Might have to wait a bit, but it's totally worth it! 🌧️🍴💕

Carmel Belle is a great place for casual eating and coffee. I was killing time waiting for a neighbor restaurant with my friends. We purchased the coffee and found a nice bench spot in the corner. I got a golden latte. It tasted spicy because of the ginger. I added a shot of espresso, which made it taste better. It doesn't normally come with espresso. Seating is plentiful. There is sunlight peeking from the roof, so there is good natural lighting in here. Location - finding Artemis rugs was helpful. Carmel Belle has a small yellow sign with a rooster hanging from the roof. The arched doorway makes it hard to see it from the outside. Parking - free 2-hour street parking around this area. Good luck. If you have reservations or time restrictions, come early just in case. Restroom - for customers only. Ask baristas for code. Only one room, so the line forms in front of the juice bar.

Good food and good vibe, great place for brunch!!

Google
Its a really cute spot in a little tunnel. The matcha latte might be the best matcha latte ive ever tasted - sweet but not too sweet, not watered down, and strong matcha taste! The lime mango bar was also really good and creamy (i might be biased because i love mango) totally recommend! Service was great as well :)

Google
Nice place in the heart of the carmel by the sea area. Affordable relative to a lot of the restaurants in the area, but still a little pricey for the meal provided.

Google
Our favorite coffee place in town! Their coffee is so good! We also love their breakfast burritos, smoothies and gluten free pastries. The restaurant is family run, and we enjoy stopping by there every time we are in Carmel. Always great service, fresh food sourced from local farms, contemporary menu.

Yelp
This place is such a gem! We got some sandwiches to go for a concert, relatively close to their closing time (within a half hour). The staff were very friendly and made our food quickly. The sandwiches are a bit simple, which allows them to feature locally sourced ingredients. The bread was fantastic and they didn't fall apart. I was excited by their breakfast options as well, which also feature simple and fresh local ingredients. We ended up going back the next morning and had some mochas, a sandwich and hot polenta with an egg and goat cheese. I am in love with the polenta- it isn't something I see a lot of around my area, so it was fun to see it featured here. It was creamy, filling, and yet light- almost akin to a porridge. Again the sandwich was great. The smashed potatoes were smashing!! Loooooved how the lemon and creme fresh played with the creamy potatoes. Definitely recommend stopping by here!

Yelp
Gets the job done We stopped by for some lunch here and enjoyed their sandwiches. We got the BLT with avocado and the mozzarella + prosciutto. Well portioned and crispy. Fresh salad on the side. Satisfying and quick

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Carmel Belle for years and it did not disappoint! The dining room is so cozy and our fireside table was just lovely. My mom and I split the grilled cheddar sandwich and each had a cup of tomato soup, which was perfect. The sandwich was perfectly cooked and the tomato soup rich and flavorful. The staff was friendly and our experience was perfect.

Yelp
Great food causal atmosphere friendly staff!!! Easy place to enjoy lunch without feeling rushed.

Yelp
i had never eaten at Carmel Belle, but was curious about it as I had walked my dog through the area several times. I arrived with my friends and we got into a quickly moving line at the counter. The staff was super friendly and attentive. they seemed happy to be there! my friends got the breakfast burrito and truffles eggs, both got great reviews! I sadly didn't have much of an appetite, but enjoyed a yummy vanilla latte...with the coolest foam swan! I can't wait to go back when I am hungry! Pretty much everything on the menu sounded great, plus it's all locally sourced! we will be back! oh! plus it's dog friendly!!!

Yelp
Delicious, healthy, fresh food. We had the VLT (tempeh), Belle Bowl and Tuscan white bean soup. Such delicious vegan and vegetarian options!

Jen D.

Yelp
This is definitely one of favorites in the county! Not only do they have delicious food but they also use organic (not sure how much of the food is organic) and they don't use seed oils (correct me if I'm wrong)! Besides that, their owners are very much hands on and such warm, friendly people! I come here for breakfast, lunch, or snacks (love their hummingbird muffin and coffee!). Once in a while, I come here to just take my time enjoying every sip and every bite in this cozy place. It's highly recommended in this busy, fast paced life.

Jay J.

Yelp
Nice and average tofu scramble in a tiny little portion. Nothing new or special to report

Bruski N.

Yelp
Carmel Belle is another quaint and hidden local restaurant in Carmel. They are known for their salads but offer a variety of sandwiches (hot or cold) and fresh juices. We were in a rush for a quick bite and got a Chicken Salad Sandwich and the beet, orange, pineapple juice drinks. The juice drinks were so fresh and enjoyable. The Chicken Salad Sandwich was mediocre with very hard ciabatta bread, stale arugula, and not so appetizing sort of tomato. They have a self-service model. You order your food, get a number, find your seat, and one of the staff will bring it to your table. You then clear your food at the station with a trash can. Just a quick and efficient establishment.

Yelp
Love this place. Great organic food and juices. Nice casual atmosphere, and welcoming for dogs as well. Nice fire in the sitting area makes it feel very cozy.

Rich B.

Yelp
Great place for an easy lunch with help yourself seating inside and out. Super dog friendly and the staff was friendly and helpful. Charcuterie board was good. Philly cheesesteak was delicious though the "side salad" did not have dressing and was quite bitter. My wife's BLT was delicious with same side salad issue. We had coffees afterward which were quite good.

Claire X.

Yelp
Bad food don't go Bad environmental conditions and worst service ever Ambience was noisy

Yvonne R.

Yelp
Beautiful quality food. Fresh, organic and delicious. We went every day for celery juice and avocado toast.

Kyle G.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place, but I just didn't. I'm trying to write and the tables are sticky. My cold brew is terrible, with specs of coffee grounds all throughout it. Disappointed by the cold brew, I then ordered a second drink. A macchiato, which looks like someone scooped bird excrement into a cup. Sigh. Off to search for another coffee shop.

Katherine T.

Yelp
A nice simple spot that we always find ourselves going back to. We usually get something with their poached eggs like their toast and sandwiches. Breakfast burritos are good. Recently got the polenta bowl and it is the best comfort food. Generous with the mushrooms! Hot chocolate was good. Tried to come back during the power outage and thought the people were so sweet and trying their best to let everyone know what they still had available without power.

Glenda G.

Yelp
Great casual spot for a quick bite! The food was tasty. We had the salmon pasta and grilled cheese for lunch on one visit. On a separate visit we had the yogurt with fruit, toast and jam, and breakfast burrito. All of the options we chose were tasty! You order first at the counter and then you have a seat type of place. They bring the food out to you. Forgot to mention, the coffee was good! They also have options for smoothies.

Melissa H.

Yelp
Great service and delicious food! We only had the opportunity to grab a quick bite and coffee. I really enjoyed the Tuna Melt (a special that day)!! It came with a small salad. Perfect for a snack for 2 people.

Melly M.

Yelp
This has been a staple for every time I visit Carmel. Always get my Chicken, Brie and Apple Sandwich with mushroom soup but did try the ham pear and cheese panini which was as delicious. You can't go wrong with any of the amazing dishes. Service is quick and great and ambiance very cozy.

Dan L.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere with people reading, cozying up to the fire, studying, or just have good conversation. Food menu stays fresh with daily specials featuring traditional French toast to amazing poached eggs. I stuck with traditional and had a great breakfast burrito that filled me up and had a perfect spicey salsa. The juice bar was also a wonderful option, but no matter the order the staff everywhere were friendly and quick. What a great find!

Heidi K.

Yelp
Lots of great gluten free selections. The outdoor patio is nice too! Food was delicious, I ate there all mornings of my vacation. They all swll cute t-shirts, wine and have a coffee bar and amoorhis bar adjacent inside!

Samantha P.

Yelp
**4.5 STARS A nice sold place for a healthy alternative meal! Came here on a Saturday around 1:00 pm and it was slightly busy but expected for a 3-day weekend. There's two counters where you could order, one where you could buy the food and drinks and a counter to only drinks and pastries. I got the free-range chicken Cobb salad and a matcha latte and my boyfriend created a belle bowl and had the apple jack juice. Everything was delicious and the portions matched the price. The person who took our order was very helpful and they had people walking around collecting plates and cleaning tables which was great! Overall the place was well cleaned and you have a choice to either eat outside or inside! Definitely would recommend this place and can't wait to come back and try new things!

Yelp
Located in the Doud Craft Studios plaza, the ambience here was absolutely charming and inviting, colorful artwork on the walls, wonderful decor made up of plants, animal statues, and merchandise with cute sayings, and comfy and casual indoor seating options adding character to the space, including actual recliner sofas (as well as a bit of outdoor seating). With so many options on the menu for food and drinks, we ended up getting a little extra. Yup, like three drinks for just two people. Got an iced mocha which was super chocolatey just the way I like it, the Verde! Verde! smoothie, which was more fruity than the greens suggest, and that was all so delicious that we ordered a purple rain smoothie as well from the juice bar. For food we got the breakfast burrito with sausage, and breakfast burrito with spinach and mushroom, and these were made fresh, stuffed with lots of fluffy scrambled eggs and flavorful ingredients, a pretty fat and very satisfying burrito, especially with the mild green sauce and sour cream on the side. The place wasn't too crowded on a Sunday around noon. Service was great, hardly a wait for anything, and friendly staff. Also, parking was free and easy just across the street. A pleasant experience overall.

Christina O.

Yelp
Such a cute spot in the historic Carmel by the Sea. Hidden inside, its menu is packed with fresh food. My favorite item was the chicken salad croissant. It was so refreshing and flavorful. The tomato bisque was a bit in the watery side, I preferred the black bean soup. The side salad was the perfect addition to the sandwiches

rugbarn d.

Yelp
came here for our first brunch during our short spring break trip to Carmel. This place was recommended by a friend who visited recently. We ordered the avocado toast with poached eggs, mushroom truffle toast, the BLT, and a sausage breakfast burrito. For drinks, we ordered coffee, golden latte, Matcha latte, and a hot chocolate. The food is very delicious. The avocado toast was high-quality, with actual fresh slices of avocado, and not some guacamole spread, which was appreciated. My son enjoyed the mushroom truffle toast as well as the BLT. The Matcha latte was good. The golden latte was earthy. Overall great experience. It also happened to be the day of the solar eclipse (Mon 4/8/24), the manager had eclipse sunglasses that he let the customers passed around so that we could see a little bit of the eclipse. That was super nice. Great outdoor seating area where we met new people and chatted with.

Amy N.

Yelp
The meals were lacking in creativity and taste. They were quite bland. The juice bar drink (apple/celery) was also lacking, and for being a drink with just fruits and veggies, that was strange. We had the VLT and the Greek salad. They tasted fine; there just wasn't much to them. The food took some time to come out for as little was involved in the plates. We appreciated the outdoor seating, but the food wasn't anything to highlight.

Christine D.

Yelp
FLAVOR (3/5): Tried their tuna melt which wasn't the best. The tuna was a bit too dry on dry bread which made it really hard to swallow. It had tomatoes on it but I pushed it towards the side salad. INSTAGRAM WORTHY (3/5): It was actually a storefront in the plaza with shops surrounding it. It felt more like a food court style. The food wasn't anything spectacular. SERVICE (4/5): Nice cashiers, speedy service. It's more of a food court style where you get your own water from jugs and bus your own tables. They give you a number tag and bring your food out to you. TAKEAWAYS: The menu didn't really entice me, the food that my group ordered (avocado toast, BLT, etc.) wasn't really impressive either.

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Such an adorable spot, the epitome of California chill and cuisine. A big hearth in the center, tons of tables, spacious, with a juice and smoothie bar. Was craving a juice and got the Omega one, forget the name. Wouldn't recommend this one (bland tasting, too much avocado) but would go back for a different juice, cappuccino, and lunch.

Gabriel R.

Yelp
Nice place but the house made chai tasted like spiced water. This review score is solely for the chai.

Kimia K.

Yelp
Worst customer service I have ever seen. Do not visit! The owner followed us around and made us feel so unwelcome, service was beyond rude. Don't waste your time here.

Stefanie L.

Yelp
Had a great experience at Carmel Belle! They had some delicious vegan options including a Nutella toast situation, avocado toast, and delicious (and pretty) lattes. It is counter service and there were a lot of spots to sit. I would be happy to go back

Anna Q.

Yelp
This is a casual-esque cafe to grab a quick lunch while wandering around Carmel. Their service is fast and friendly. I like the self-seating and random bits and bobs in the space to shop around, as well as the separate smoothie and dessert station integrated into the restaurant. I ordered a veggie sandwich (12) and a shot of espresso (3) and both did not disappoint. Initially shocked by abundance of arugula in my sammy, I begrudgingly took a bite, expecting a ton of bitterness and unruly texture. The arugula's bitterness was cut by the mayo-ey sauce that was tossed into the sandwich, which I'm assuming also softened the texture of the plant itself. Paired with the avocado, it was a creamy adventure that some vegetable sandwiches seriously lack. The dish was paired with a simple side salad with olive oil as dressing and some small cornichons to cut the fat. Carmel Belle definitely capitalizes on the beauty of simplicity, which I am super fond of. I am always pleasantly surprised when ordering sandwiches, since I tend to be a bit stuck up and haughty around them. They're secretly the best though.

Yelp
DONT GO HERE! Previous told that I wasn't a customer and couldn't use the bathroom while waiting for our friends to arrive. This used to be a favorite place, but it has gone very down hill since a few years ago whine the new owner bought it. There are several instances of rudeness/ unacceptable behavior from the owner. STAY AWAY!

Foad A.

Yelp
I drove 2 hours from San Jose to get lunch here as my 4 year son was hungry. I stood in line, but I had to quickly step outside the building to get something for my son and then walk in to order lunch for our family. While I was outside, my wife and in laws had to use their restroom and look for a table for our party of 9. The owner kicked them out as "they weren't customers" and threatened to call the police. Never go here! Don't even consider giving this owner any business. Worst place in the world. I've had better customer service at McDonald's.

Sharon B.

Yelp
I was excited when I walked into Carmel Belle for breakfast. The restaurant had a cute cafe type vibe, and had casual dine-in and to go options where you order over the counter. Overall, I thought it was a little pricey for the amount and quality of food. I ordered the grilled cheese with bacon, and the cooks had forgotten the bacon so I had to go back and request it to be added which was a bit disappointing. My partner ordered the breakfast burrito, and we thought it was pretty mediocore.. we've had better tasting sausage from our local grocery stores. I'm not sure if the experience would've been different if we dined in.

Yelp
If I could have put 0 or less I would ! This place is so bad . The food the service 0-10 We order food for more then 100$ We got 4 kids all 4 kids didn't like the Mac and chess and spit it out in the moment they put it in there mouth. We asked to change it and the boss is saying No I can only make you 1 dish of pasta instead of the 4 and I can't do a refund . I had to fight with them to get an extra dish and when the door arrived they didn't even cook the fish right it was raw !! We send it back and they have cooked the same pice we gave them and send it back to us . Like seriously?!?! That's how you guys treat your customers ! All the foot was extra extra oil . The meatloaf was dry and disgusting. For Michelle follow I would NOT recommend this place to anyone ! To tell me your kids don't like the food .. we are the Busiest restaurant in the area and I don't do a refund that's disrespectful and unprofessional!

Xuesong L.

Yelp
We travelled here on a chilly winter day before christmas. We were looking for something comfort and some coziness in town. Happened to walk into this place when shopping the tiny shops. We had coffee, cappuccino, avocado toast, chicken soup and pulled pork sandwich. Everything's okay except the sandwich which was too dry. A casual quick bite for the trip, more for a quick rest instead of a proper meal in our option. The place was kept clean and neat.

Joel F.

Yelp
Food was good with lots of variety. Sat outside on the front patio in the sunshine which was great.

Robert Y.

Yelp
Good quality ingredients and good service. Breakfast is great and so is lunch. Wonderful salads and great coffee and smoothies.

Irina K.

Yelp
We just had breakfast at one of our favorite spots, Carmel Belle. I ordered my beloved Truffled Egg Toast and a side of Avocado. My husband had one of their special breakfast croissants. Coffee was nice and strong. Croissant disappeared in 3 bites. I'm sad to say that my Truffled Egg Toast had zero truffle. Perhaps they forgot to put it. Despite the missing truffle, we really enjoyed our breakfast and will return every time we are in town.

Mikayla M.

Yelp
I wanted to give 5 stars because it's nice inside and the cappuccino and my partner's breakfast burrito were all good. Sadly, when they brought out my green eggs and ham, the egg whites were undercooked like very liquidy and I hate to complain or send things back but I let them know that I just wanted the eggs slightly cooked more so the egg whites were done not to fully hard boil them but they just overcooked it... I love poached eggs/soft boiled eggs but I'm not sure why they brought out clearly undercooked poached eggs and then overdid it when I asked for it to be corrected. Really unfortunate but I still ate it and will give a good rating I just hope my feedback matters.

Christy B.

Yelp
A great variety of healthy options!! Unhealthy if you want that too!!Delicious food!! Large food portions!!!

Tim W.

Yelp
[3.5/5.0] Pretty solid spot! The quality of the ingredients is there. As an 8% body fat Yelp Elite, I believe the selections here are pretty run of the mill. The banana bread is fire! The breakfast burrito was also good as well. There are hits here and there but something is just missing... Other than that, this spot is super chill and a good place to hang out.

Emma B.

Yelp
Great little breakfast spot. Casual countertop service. The dining area is cool-- very homey. There are couches, booths, and regular tables. The eggs and coffee were great. There are shops surrounding the dining area so you can shop after you eat.

Catherine L.

Yelp
Love this little place. Brie and baguette is very yummy. Great coffee; great smoothies. The sunrise smoothie is a smash hit and is amazing every time, as well as the tofu scramble. The cinnamon toast is surprisingly delicious too. Staff is very nice. Cute little seating areas outdoors and indoors. They are consistent and wonderful! Thank you Carmel Belle!

Rachel M.

Yelp
This review is from my breakfast experience several years ago but I still remember my plate of fresh buttery crusty bread, thick sliced bacon, perfectly poached egg was delicious. Top quality ingredients that I savored with each bite. The place is quaint with cozy and is within a shopping area in Carmel. Highly recommend stopping by for a good meal before or after perusing the beautiful art and gift shops!

Diana M.

Yelp
My group of five friends and I needed lunch, badly, Carmel Belle is right down the street from our hotel and met the bill for what we all wanted - some wanted sandwiches, others just a smoothie. Everything was out promptly for the group and all were happy with their choices. The sandwiches were well proportioned but not huge, so a good choice to not feel overly full. The sitting area was nice with the indoor fireplace too. We ended up coming back for coffees later in our stay. I would definitely come back.

Mallory L.

Yelp
Large and spacious seating area. My latte was larger than my face. My mushroom toast was ABSOLUTELY DIVINE! So tasty and flavorful. Everyone else in my party loved my toast, but their food was only ok.

Peter S.

Yelp
Fresh and delicious. The environment is nice and casual, and the service is quick and friendly.
