Review on Mina with carmelas in Beaumont. Carmela’s food smelled so good walking in, that is always a plus. Great server, very clean right down to the utensils and floors. Lots of food on the menu to choose from and great red spicy salsa to accompany the very fresh warm slightly salted chips. Our waitress/server was Senorita Mina Her service blew us away. She was sweet, attentive, a great listener, and satisfied our every need. I could tell she has been a waitress for a very long time. My husband has a tomato allergy, and she went out of her way to ensure none of the items served to him has any tomato products. He received two refried beans because no tomato sauce. He did not have any of the salsa, charro beans, or rice. Then I ask for cheese, and she brought it right away. Food portions were a nice size. She made sure we had everything we wanted and needed and ensured our food was to our satisfaction. Thank you, Mina, for making these first-time visitors experience amazing and joyful. We will be returning in the future. Keep letting your beautiful light shine.

Google
Our waiter was in training but was catching on pretty fast was able to take the order with no mistakes ! he was in training but that didn't stop the woman training him from providing us with great service ! She has been a waitress for 15 plus years she said and it showed , filled drinks without having to ask , refilled chips when they got low everything was on point . The only issue was with the parking its hard to get in because there is limited parking most people park on the side road next to Harmony science academy. Other than the parking its got great food , friendly staff and small bar inside !!

The last two times I've went I've gotten pollo in mole dinner. My boyfriend got the enchiladas Verde. Both were excellent! The only thing is I wanted a Jamaica fresca drink the last two times I went and they were out both times. So I just got sweet tea which was good. Great restaurant!

Stopped here coming back from Lake Charles. Place was packed at lunch. Food was good and service was great.

You want real authentic Mexican food? This is the place! Best Mexican restaurant I’ve eaten in Beaumont. This is their Molcajete Dish 🤤.

Google
Stopped here on a roadtrip and gotta say it was really good. The chips and salsa were tasty and all our entrees were very, very good. The staff was extremely friendly as well. Would definitely stop back in here if we pass through this area again.

Google
I usually don't like Mexican food, but this has been by far the best Mexican food I've ever had! There was no wait when we got to the restaurant and service was very fast. Once we put our order in, the food came out within 15 minutes. The portions were quite large (which is great for leftovers!), the rice was very flavorful, the meat was very tender, and the vegetable soup is to die for!

Google
Delicious, delicious, delicious. The menu was strategically designed to really keep the hunger undecided. So many nice and colorful dishes to choose in a pleasant folkloric place surrounded by a “family” help.

Yelp
We had a birthday dinner at Camelas with a party of 12. The food was great (as usual), but the service, well it was Outstanding. The added-in gratuity was Less than I expected and if I realized it at the time, I would have added more. Nice to see they are upfront with their credit card service fee.

Yelp
If you look at my numerous reviews, you will see I'm not real hard to please. Unfortunately, this establishment was not worth the money we spent. Upon arrival, we were given menus at the counter. We opted to go with the chicken enchiladas. When I tried to order, I was told they don't do those any longer. Additionally, told several others not available. Going back to the table, I noticed that all the prices were "white out." Really? Please update your menu. The wife decided on a chicken quesadilla. I ordered the Asada platter. The quesadilla was decent. She gave it three stars. My beef was poor. Imagine jerky about an hour before it's done. The beans were very good but overall, it was still 1 star. Very disappointing after a long day traveling.

Yelp
Well, Beaumont tries with its Mexican food. Carmela's, located near the Kroger on Phelan, is one of the tries. It's a good one, though. The group we were with usually goes to Elena's. But after the 5K one Saturday morning, they suggested Carmela's for brunch instead. We filled up one entire row of tables. And we were early, so we got more attentive service. I had some enchiladas, I forget what the Hunny had. My entree didn't really stand out as excellent, but it was tasty, with a good spice level. The restaurant is spacious, two wings. Its decor is not over the top like Cafe Del Rio, a step up from Habanero. Food is about like Elena's, not as good as Habanero. Small parking lot. Price is in line with the others. Overall, Carmela's is pretty good, although not memorable.

Yelp
The food here is good. Parking can be an issue late in the evening. There is a big menu. The service was good. The inside of the facility was great. We may stop here again when in the area.

Yelp
The best queso in Beaumont hands down!!!! The salsa is always on point too. I loooove their rice with the little added veggies and the Rio Verde is the best way to sample little bit of the best items imo. Like a taco, queso chip, bean tostado, cheese enchilada, beef enchilada with rice & beans at very reasonable prices. Service is top notch. And they have the REAL BIG MEXICAN COKE BOTTLES. THEY ARE THE BEST !!!!!!!

Yelp
Amazing food, especially the queso, and the servers are pretty nice, plus they don't give you any problems with the quantity of food especially the chips. and every time I go there, they're not out of anything.

Grace W.

Yelp
Al pastor tacos were so delicious ! I'm not sure about the tripe soup , you have to already like tripe to enjoy muendo. Anyways , service was amazing but the rice was a little weird if you're a texture person like me . Overall 4/5 stars I enjoyed my meal and service and drinks . I recommend coming to any Carmella's near you!

Yelp
Yum! Breakfast was amazing!! So good. My husband said his pork chops were the best he's had in a while. My rancheros were amazing too. Nice waitress and service. I would recommend

Yelp
Today when going in for lunch after seated and brought drinks and a small queso our waiter took our order, only when it came out he brought me the wrong thing. So when I told him what I wanted he brought me the wrong thing a second time. So by the time I finally got what I wanted (maybe 15-20 minutes later) my mom and dad were done eating their meals. This is not that bad, but the 1 star is for how management continues to run this restaurant because instead of coming to apologize for what took place I was questioned, not once, but twice by husband and wife managers as to what happened. It made me feel as though I was in the wrong, and not the first time this has happened. I really wish I felt appreciated here, but I don't. The food is normally decent, but we've been treated as an inconvenience so many times here, it's so sad and I don't understand it.

Yelp
This is one of my frequent Mexican food places in Beaumont! The food is pretty good, the staff is super polite and helpful, service is phenomenal and the drinks are AMAZING! We try to make it at least once a week!

Yelp
Went tonight before 6pm for a belated BD dinner and out of all the joints in town I pick this place (drove in from Galveston too) Had the pleasure of server, Monica...NOT; she was the worst. Took just short of 5 minutes to be acknowledged (too long in my book) and then after we were acknowledged and got our .99 cent margarita( tasty but weak) she disappeared, and by that I mean...waited on all other tables but ours. When our party of 4 was complete...(about 615pm) as soon as the 3rd and 4th person sat down she cane to table and asked, "do you know what you want?" Umm, can they open a menu first? So, this chicks timing was all off. At that point we did order appetizers (queso and guacamole) and more margaritas (oh! But, let me say...the guacamole needs some attention...should be ashamed serving a smashed avocado with no spices or ingredients) After appys were delivered, it took 15 minutes before she checked on us again. She was around too..waiting on the booths along the wall but never looking our way so that we could order our entrees. 20 minutes in of eating appys...she asked if we were ready to order? We did. Food out in 10 minutes. We got the el torrito and the camal...it was good. Refried beans were too salty though so no one touched theres. Now, another 20 minutes go by and as we watch Monica wait on all those booth customers, she never acknowledges us. (she's just soo close but yet...so far) We never got refills on water or coke. We never got asked if we needed anything? Soo, at the 25 minute mark I follow her to the back and tell her I'd like a to go container and the check; she brings it to us, says nada and leaves. I mean, rude much? Monica you 90% ruined my experience; 10% was the food. But, being the decent people that we are we STILL TIPPED ms indifferent 25%...she truly did not deserve it though. PS--while checking out at register we noticed and bought a "worlds finest" chocolate bar...(obviously someone there has a fund raiser and was using the register as a selling spot) they charged us $1.50 but, the wrapper on bar said $1.00...sooo, what's that about? Food wasn't good enough to return. Service sealed the deal. No mas Carmela. You and Monica can have it. Adios'

Yelp
Excellent food and service in traditional Mexican restaurant decor. Reasonable prices.

Yelp
Classic old school Tex-Mex from the decor to the menu. Service was friendly and efficient without being rushed. We ordered an appetizer of potato slices with bacon, jalapeños and sour cream. It was a great start...delicious. The chips and salsa were excellent also. I then ordered the Enchiladas al Comal. Two enchiladas stuffed with fajita beef and onions, covered with queso with rice and a side of beans. Everything was delicious. Even during this time of Covid19 and a hurricane affecting the area just two days ago (and most of the area without power), this was exceptional.

Yelp
Love the food. Always quick! Tasty! And not expensive. Service is great too! 5 stars

Yelp
Ole Reliable! It's nothing fancy but Carmela's easily has some of the best Tex-Mex in Southeast Texas.

Yelp
I have always been a Fantastic Customer even with mediocre hot sauce and good food I kept returning due to it being a family business. But they now have decided to ADD A SURCHARGE TO EVERY BILL. Deciding to pass on this charge to customers with No Sign that States: Cash Price: / Card Price.... I have now decided to take my business to another mexican restaurant that does not pass down A Surcharge which a waiter is Suppose to verbally tell you that this has been applied if you pay by any Card (even during a Pandemic) when they promote using cards. I begged them to think about not charging Senior Citizens who are on SS and have a strict budget. They were not entertaining this idea at all!

Yelp
Not much variety, the menu was not worded appetizingly. Luckily, I didn't eat anything but chips and salsa. My husband had the green enchiladas and got sick. Will never go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good carne gisada, I would go again. Chips and salsa are very good although the salsa is a bit spicy. The ceso is very delicious, I would get with every meal. I picked up my food but the place gets packed during lunch and too Many folks not wearing a mask.

Yelp
We came here because our first experience was great. Great waiter and good food. Let me preface that I am from San Antonio. This time the food was horrible. I complained twice to the waitress but she never brought the manager. When she brought the check she ran away fast and would not come back. I had to ask another waitress for the manager .when he came he was trying to intimidate me! I told them I would not pay for the uneaten food that tasted sour. He was not happy either -and stomped away . We sat here another 15 minutes waiting. No more

Yelp
We were in Beaumont to drop my truck off to get some things done, so we decided to go and have lunch at Carmela's on the recommendation from a friend. We were promptly seated and given menu's. Our waiter came shortly after and took out drink orders. I had sweet tea, my wife had non sweet tea, and our little one ordered a Coke. Another lady came to the table with a basket of tortilla chips and a bowl of salsa for my wife and one for me!! After bringing our drinks right out he took our orders, I ordered the Rio Verde Special with a cheese enchilada and a beef enchilada, a bean and cheese chalupa, a crispy beef taco, and rice and beans. I asked if I could get another taco instead of the chalupa and he said it was no problem!! Happy me, I love tacos!!! My wife ordered the Queso Flameado with flour tortillas,b and we ordered a large Bowl of Queso for our 6 year old as he said that was all he wanted! It didn't take long at all for the food too come out! Our waiter was really good and on top of things! It was really busy just a little after noon and no one skipped a beat! Our food was so good and we really enjoyed it! The taco meat and my beef enchilada were seasoned just like I like and had a great taste to them! It had a really great atmosphere and I would say so the patrons there were really enjoying the food and their company! Really Great Place for Mexican Food!

Yelp
Last Thursday was my first time dining at this place. My husband had gone for lunch a few times before and had good things to say about it. The margaritas were great, the food was delivered hot, fresh, and timely, and the service was on point. The ambiance was just right for our early dinner night. Our waiter was very nice and accommodating. I will be returning.

Yelp
I'm mixed on what to say with this one. I was brought here by a few friends and was told about how great the food was. Most of the food we tried was good but the deal killer was the Queso Flemeado. Well, here it goes. If you get here on a rush time you are going to have a hard time finding parking. I guess that means this place has the best food around. I can attest that everything floating around me as I rubberneck the plates of food passing by me had decent presentation as well as the smell of everything. THE GOOD: A friend ordered a bowl of guacamole. Freshly made and just the right seasonings they put in there so nothing would over power the flavor on what it really is. Excellent green color, consistency and flavor. Highly recommend. THE BAD: I ordered the fried mushrooms and the queso flameado (sorry if I'm misspelling it, you know what I meant). Someone around here tipped here that it was excellent but they must have either gotten the real one we are used to seeing or they changed recipe on me. What I got was like somebody placed a layer of cheese on top of a bowl of carne con queso, broiled it in the oven to toughen up then served. Might I add that it was a little on the salty side. Verified by two others at my table. THE UGLY: Had to add to this but it wasn't the restaurants fault. The restrooms as well as the building is very outdated if not in dilapidated conditions in another decade or two but was not pleasant seeing that somebody attempting to make a #2 in the restroom apparently missed and dive bombed the floor. O o . Insert essence in lost of appetite here. Other honorable mentions were the fried mushrooms were decent, not outstanding but not bad at all. Served with a side of ranch. I had the iced as the beverage. Freshly made, if you ever worked in a restaurant and drink a lot of tea you can tell. Good strong flavor, you can even taste the strength even after loading a few sugar packets and lemon wedges. Best thing about my experience, the service. I wished I would have remembered our sever's name (young lady with glasses) but she was fantastic. She timed everything perfect, really good semi bubbly attitude without seeming false and lots of smile. Drinks never hit the bottom. Twenty five percent tip for you little miss. I am willing to go back and give them another shot but I'd lick the door knob of a bathroom door before I order the queso flameado otra vez.

Yelp
EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE! Had lunch here on a business trip and I was very impressed with how clean / pleasant the place was. Great flautas. Wish I could go back more often!!!!

Happy they have a changing table for my little one too... bathroom was a bit small but clean and good! Lobe the chairs, tables and all the colors! Yelp
Ordered lunch today from Carmela's to eat at work. I got the taco al comal (1 beef, 1 chicken taco, guacamole & salsa, rice, beans, and chips). Overall portion of the food seemed a small and plain for me personally. It looked plain and tasted rather bland. I would've rather go to an authentic hispanic place for cheaper & better quality tacos. Only thing I enjoyed was the chips and salsa from here. Probably won't order from here again.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered a vegetable fajita burrito with no cheese, no meat with enchilada sauce. Vegan. They put two Carrots and lettuce inside of a tortilla with no enchilada sauce . Cheese all Over my beans. Delivered by waitor. Gross.

Yelp
If you are driving through Beaumont and want to try some very good Mexican or TexMex food, this place is worth a stop. It's just a few short blocks west on Calder Ave. and if your lucky to be going in a Monday evening before 8pm you can get a nice size Rita for 50 cents, on Wed & Sat they are 99 cents for 8pm. Don't know if they offer that Rita special at lunch time. The inside is clean and staff is friendly. I have been several times and it all has been good. The special priced Rita's were very good and not watered down. Enjoy!

Yelp
This place is disgusting. The bathroom smells like a sewer and the toilet isn't even connected to the floor. The food and service was equally terrible. The food was awful. I ordered nachos supreme (which I asked the waitress for a recommendation). It came and looked ok, then I got into my food. The chips are so flimsy they cannot hold meat and everything was soggy before I made it past the sour cream. I asked to speak to the manager and she offered me half off $9 nachos. What a slap in the face. She had the audacity to tell me I ate half of my meal. I sure didn't eat half of my meal. It was literally $9! Are u kidding me. "Everyone is responsible for what they eat and order" she told me. DO NOT COME HERE! I'm so glad I live in central Texas where we know what service and food should be like.
google avatar

Alana P.

Yelp
I'm working in this area and came here with coworkers at about 8am after a night shift. We had some really good margarita but the food was was sooooo good! The quesadillas with half chicken and half beef were some of the best I've ever had! The cheese was meaty and good and the meat was seasoned perfectly! I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Celena B.

Yelp
A coworker recommended this place to me so I decided to give it a try. I love Mexican food, but I honestly was not impressed. I ordered a chimichanga and it was very mediocre. I can't say it was bad, but there definitely wasn't anything special about it. The restaurant was packed, every single table on a Monday evening was filled so it doesn't look like covid protocols where being filled. The lobby/pickup area was packed with people and very disorganized with no direction/indication of where to go. I called straight after work to place my order in ahead of time and the phone did not go through several times of calling. When I did finally get an answer, I was placed on hold for 10 minutes and ended up placing my order right when I arrived (which totally defeats the purpose of calling in).

Cristian L.

Yelp
Put a order in online, said 20 minutes to be ready.. very simple order just tacos. Arrives after over 20 minutes and guess what? My order wasn't even put in!! Had to wait over 15 minutes. If you can't do technology don't add it to your business!!! Purpose of take out is to not sit there!!! Never again

Emily C.

Yelp
For the price, their quality is one of if not the best Tex mex in Beaumont. I've gone often during the lunch hour and am able to get service and food very quick. Highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
The food here was very good and the service was ok. Our waitress had a lot of tables at lunch time but she was still very accommodating. The restaurant is clean and the salsa and queso dip were very tasty. I would come back!
google avatar

Josh M.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in BMT! Everything on the menu is good you can't go wrong. Must get queso!

Mykell L.

Yelp
recently had breakfast tacos for a work meeting. they were amazing, the food was fresh and the portion sizes were huge, I could only eat one. When the food arrived to the office they were still hot.

Yelp
Hands down the best Mexican food in Beaumont. Great service. Chips and dip ate superb

Yelp
Elena's was our favorite place for years. We decided to try Carmela's and we're glad we did! This place is off the charts good! We ordered the mixed fajitas for one and added the shrimp. There was enough food for three people and the food was bursting with flavor! Definitely worth an hour drive for top shelf food! The service was great along with the food! We came on a Tuesday night and it was packed so that alone speaks for itself! All in all I give it 5 stars! You will not be disappointed! Our server was Maria. Very pleasant personality and attended to us muy bien! Gracias!

P D.

Yelp
STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE DIETARY RESTRICTIONS OR DON'T WANT POOR SERVICE!!! I hardly ever write reviews, and when I do, I try to never write poor reviews. However, our visit here was so bad that I feel other guests should be aware of our experience; and hopefully, the management will also make a concerted effort to implement changes so that this does not happen again to other patrons. First off, we had an extremely rude waiter. We can put up with a lot but his bad attitude and unwillingness to follow-up with the kitchen on our dietary restrictions were absolutely unacceptable and appalling. We have people that have dietary restrictions that prevent them from eating any animal products; and instead of checking with the kitchen to make sure their rice and beans do not contain animal products, he outright lied and had the nerve to roll his eyes as he left. It's only after we went to confirm with another staff that we found out that they did indeed have animal products. This person could have gotten extremely ill. This was extremely irresponsible and could be dangerous for those with potentially deadly allergies. If you want good service and good Tex-Mex, Casa Ole is right down the street. We went there right after and the service was complete night and day. Stay away from Carmela's if you can!
google avatar

Carl H.

Yelp
I dumped a whole dish of salsa in to the queso for a little pizazz, didn't really help. The plate ordered had a little bit of everything to try. It was a plate full of boring tastes, safe for children and old ladies..... just not for me. Nothing served was bad.... just plain and mediocre. The lettuce was good though.

Yelp
Stopped here on the way back from helping some friends in Cameron Parish recover from Hurricane Laura. Even though we were dirty and probably smelled worse than a pigstye, Maria served us with a smile. The food was very good, fresh, and well seasoned. I had the El Torito. WOW! Lots of authentic Mexican food that tasted great. I really liked the beef seasoned with nutmeg and cinnamon. Everykne liked their food and drinks.. The margaritas were tasty and refreshing. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
I have been going here since it was a little shack and continue to frequent in the new location. Always had nice and speedy servers with a classic take on Tex-Mex food. They are a good catering company for events or a nice place to sit down and eat for date night. Were great at taking orders during the global pandemic and continuing to support beaumont.

Linda D.

Yelp
After seeing Carmelas on the news, my friend and I decided to dine there. The parking is terrible but we found a side street to park on. The food came out cold and we had to ask that they take it back to heat it. The most shocking thing is that they tried to charge us for using a Debit card to pay our bill. No where was this posted BEFORE we entered Carmelas. We ended up paying cash but asking for an added surcharge is a poor way to do business. We will not be going back and will let others know of this surcharge. Shame on Carmelas.
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. This is my go-to place anytime I'm back at home visiting the family. The salsa is the best in the area - full of spice and tomato. None of that watered down stuff that's at other Mexican restaurants in the area. The queso is good, the drink glasses are tall and never empty, the service is solid, the food is solid, and always on point. Only complaint is their tiny parking lot. It's always overflowing. They need a bigger lot. Everything else is top notch! Highly recommend the quesadillas!
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
We had the waitress with the braided bright pink hair. She was more concerned with clearing the empty table around us, than waiting on our group. We had to ask her for each and every refill and most of our group sat with dirty dishes in front of them while the others finished their meal. Don't come to our table and interrupt our conversation and ask if we need anything... Look around, size up that our glasses are empty, bring the refills, and clear the dirty dishes. And we were NOT impressed with the clown pink hair. I mean really?? The west end of Beaumont is the most conservative part of Southeast Texas and you decide to hire a waitress with streaks of bright pink hair? Some people just need negative attention and Carmela's is rewarding her freakish behavior by hiring her and putting her front and center in front of their most conservative customers. So, take this feedback or not. No clue, no tip.
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
Didn't have very high expectations after trying the salsa, which was like pure tomato puree, but the entree was actually really good. I got the spinach enchiladas with no cheese or sour cream. Order came out correctly and was delicious!
google avatar

Isreal A.

Yelp
I came in for dinner today noticed that the dining room was extremely crowded with tables and chairs packed in to try and fit as many as people in as possible. The ambiance has a low lit vibe going on but not by choice, only 3 light bulbs seem to be operational. There's also a sweet strobe light that flashed throughout the meal followed by a blaring fire alarm that would go off every time a plate of sizzling fajitas were served. So I'm not sure if it's because the majority of the patrons are predominately Caucasian, but the place is skating with the ideal it's authentic Mexican food. I ended up ordering the fajitas for one which came with side of rice, beans, sour creme, pico de gallo, and guacamole. The food came out relatively fast but that was probably the best thing about the meal. The restaurant seems pretty familiar with the ole serving trick of putting out a heap of grilled onions and peppers on a sizzling plate to hide the 5 chewy fajitas strips that were buried underneath. You also get a stingy plate of refried beans and rice that lacked any seasoning whatsoever. I took one bite and couldn't eat anymore. I'll probably regret the meal later as much as when I had it so I advise you to save your pesos and look elsewhere.

Kerri Z.

Yelp
Friendly staff and clean restaurant. Great guacamole and tortillas. The fajita steak meat was not what we were expecting. I think if I went back, I'd stick with an order of nachos.

Yelp
It's very Tex-Mex it is not a Mexican only restaurant. Personally we don't like Tex-Mex food at all. It was just bland food. It wasn't very good. We had taco nachos I was not able to finish even half of the plate.
