"Restaurante Carmen Carmen lies at the crossroads where quality, creativity, and sustainability (plus every other big-city culinary trend) meet. The namesake proprietress, alongside musician husband Rob Pevitts (both San Francisco Cordon Bleu graduates), is the genius who imported the restaurant’s California-sybarite style to Cartagena. She also brought a passion for everything that comes from the sea, and even imported her father, who’s responsible for serving up crab, lobster, fish, and octopus in line with standards he picked up on his many travels in New York and Japan. We found Carmen through guidebook recommendations, and wow, it absolutely lived up to the hype! The dishes were outstanding: flavorful, creative, and unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere. The cocktails were beautiful and expertly crafted, and the staff was friendly and attentive. We didn’t have a reservation, so we sat at the bar; and honestly, it was perfect! Watching the bartenders work their magic added to the whole vibe, and the music created a great atmosphere. The place is elegant and gets busy, so I highly recommend making a reservation. If you love delicious cuisine with a modern, unique twist, Carmen is a must-visit in Cartagena.

We had a wonderful experience at Carmen. The food was absolutely delicious—each dish felt thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing, which made the evening even more enjoyable. It’s the kind of place where you can tell there’s passion behind both the kitchen and the staff. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a memorable dining experience.

After many trips to Cartagena, I decided to eat dinner at Carmen’s. This is an amazing restaurant that is sadly overshadowed by the more popular ones. The food was exquisite. We had the tasting menu, and I strongly recommend it. The service is exceptional, especially if you are lucky enough to get Bethoven as your server.

Wow. What a meal. The chef’s tasting was a showstopper with incredible flavors and top-notch service. Some of the dishes were a revelation, containing ingredients I’ve never tried or never mixed. My palate truly sang after a combination of food and delicious cocktails. If you are looking for a great restaurant in the city, this is one to try.

Our experience here was incredible from start to finish. We ordered the 9-course tasting course and loved every unique dish. The flavors paired so well together. Service was top notch, and Ader Nuñez made the whole experience so enjoyable! Will definitely be back or even may need to stop by the Medellín location.

The service and decor are amazing. You walk into an enchanted garden. Stone will and real plants fill the space. Guest can dine in the outdoor garden or an indoor air conditioned area. Our waiter Ader was very attentive and offered suggestions based on what we liked. He knew the menu and did a great job making us feel excited about what we were about to experience. The food was a bit too exotic for me. The chef combines unique flavors that where too much. If you want to experience unique blends and flavors this is the place to go. Looking for just good basic ingredients and recipes this is not it. Here is an example. Raviolis with coffee, sesame seeds with plantains just two that I experienced. Great vibe, location and decor.

A rare find! I chose the 7 option tasting menu, each one more creative and delicious than the last! All local flavor choices. AC on a steamy day added to the gorgeous, upscale and elegant atmosphere. Roberto was a friendly, professional and attentive waiter. Highly recommend!

Amazing! Every dish was perfectly executed, great cocktails, lovely service. In my last two visits to Cartagena I wanted to eat here, first time it was closed for a private event, the next time I was late and the kitchen was closed. Third time's a charm and it was completely worth it!
