"Restaurante Carmen Carmen lies at the crossroads where quality, creativity, and sustainability (plus every other big-city culinary trend) meet. The namesake proprietress, alongside musician husband Rob Pevitts (both San Francisco Cordon Bleu graduates), is the genius who imported the restaurant’s California-sybarite style to Cartagena. She also brought a passion for everything that comes from the sea, and even imported her father, who’s responsible for serving up crab, lobster, fish, and octopus in line with standards he picked up on his many travels in New York and Japan. The service and decor are amazing. You walk into an enchanted garden. Stone will and real plants fill the space. Guest can dine in the outdoor garden or an indoor air conditioned area. Our waiter Ader was very attentive and offered suggestions based on what we liked. He knew the menu and did a great job making us feel excited about what we were about to experience. The food was a bit too exotic for me. The chef combines unique flavors that where too much. If you want to experience unique blends and flavors this is the place to go. Looking for just good basic ingredients and recipes this is not it. Here is an example. Raviolis with coffee, sesame seeds with plantains just two that I experienced. Great vibe, location and decor.

A rare find! I chose the 7 option tasting menu, each one more creative and delicious than the last! All local flavor choices. AC on a steamy day added to the gorgeous, upscale and elegant atmosphere. Roberto was a friendly, professional and attentive waiter. Highly recommend!

Amazing! Every dish was perfectly executed, great cocktails, lovely service. In my last two visits to Cartagena I wanted to eat here, first time it was closed for a private event, the next time I was late and the kitchen was closed. Third time's a charm and it was completely worth it!

This food and experience was AMAZING!!! My mom and I were sure on where to go for lunch and we found this restaurant. We are still talking about the experience. They gave us a welcome dish and a complimentary dessert. The waiter provided us with recommendations and we had the lentil steak, the lobster appetizer and the salad. The Yuma bites were great as well! The food was fresh and clean. They also asked about dietary restrictions! We’re definitely going back. Perfection!

5/5 - came back to this place twice and would come again if I had more time. The first time I had the ceviche, pulpo (delicious with an yuca and cheese croquette) and the chorizo del mar (my favourite!) and then returned for the tasting menu which was equally delicious. The staff are lovely and attentive and the atmosphere is relaxed and sophisticated.

Amazing experience at Carmen!! We did the 7 course tasting menu and it was great. Service was fabulous. More pricey than other places you’ll eat in Cartagena, but that is to be expected. We really enjoyed it!!

We have only had amazing meals in Colombia but were lucky to experience one of the best tonight. We work with a lot of high end chefs and teams so can appreciate an experience like this even more ! Lovely decor and great menu. Angel was very cool and made us feel super welcome. The way he served the table and explained the dishes was amazing and you could feel his passion. Some little tasters were also brought out too which was a cool touch. Thank you team.

The food here is top quality. Menu choices are excellent and show their great skills at combining local flavours into the dishes. Loved the small tasting dishes between courses, such a nice touch. The service was faultless, for non-Spanish speakers the staff also spoke English. Not too expensive either, although the wine list was a little pricey compared to European wine lists, but still a good choice. Definitely recommend this place. I have several times and will go again.
