We took a day trip to Kerrville to come see the Cross and decided to stop at Carmines afterwards. We heard various things about the food, especially the pizza 🍕 so we were curious.
I will say off the bat there are some unusual things about it. They serve no wines or liquors, they do have ☕, but no espresso or cappuccinos. I am from New York and these are normally givens at an Italian spot. Also atmosphere wise it was very empty which caught us off guard for a Saturday.
Yes, the pizza is as big as they say for an individual slice. Huge and these will fill you up fast. Quality wise the pepperoni, cheese and Marguerite slices were good, but the supreme was dry, uninspired, and over cooked.
My wife had the chicken Parm. Hers was overcooked, though it looked good initially. She liked the spaghetti, 🍝 I found it plain with little flavor.
Our waiter was quite nice and helpful. We made sure to leave him a good tip.
We are not sure we would go back personally, but I am glad we did try it.
