Baha Mar Just Opened Its First Steakhouse — and They Got the Best Butcher in the World to Oversee It

"Carna is a new restaurant by master butcher Dario Cecchini at Baha Mar. It's the biggest culinary draw at Baha Mar and one of the most notable recent openings in the country. Executive chef Thomas Griese helms the restaurant, and sommelier Juan Gargano curates a wine list. The dining room features a marble bar, plush banquettes, and an array of aged meats. On the menu are items like a fruits de mer tower, charcuterie, and various steaks, including Kobe, Wagyu, and Cecchini's favorite Panzanese steak." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Great option for a fine dining restaurant at Baha Mar. We mainly ordered fish, and the food tasted very fresh. You can tell that it is locally sourced. Highly recommend getting the custom shellfish tower and the warm lobster tails as a main. The service was mediocre, and could be improved. We dined outside and it was very windy and cold which took away from our experience. We asked to move tables and were not accommodated. Unfortunately this made it difficult to enjoy our dinner.

Carna – Baha Mar ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I dined at Carna last Thursday evening — my final night in Nassau, closing out an incredible week at ILTM North America — and what an unforgettable experience it was. I hosted a table of ten, and from the moment I made the reservation to the moment I stepped inside, everything was flawless. The service was warm yet refined — that perfect blend of precision and personality. From the welcome champagne (Iconic Veuve Clicquot ) to the curated red wines that followed, every detail was handled with such care. The Carna team anticipated every need, making hosting seamless and truly enjoyable. We were seated in a private dining space tucked toward the back of the restaurant — intimate, elegant, and perfectly suited for our group. For a moment, it felt like my private dining room. As someone who represents Riverside Luxury Cruises, recently named Forbes’ Best in Gastronomy Worldwide, I hold culinary experiences to a very high standard. Carna exceeded them all. From the appetizers to the final toast, the execution was perfection. Out of all the restaurants on property, my two absolute favorites are Café Boulud and Carna — both spectacular in their own right. When I return to Baha Mar next year, there’s no question — I’ll be back at Carna. #MichelleRodriguezSuarez

Service and aesthetics were above par. We were seated immediately as we arrived. Anwar, our server, was amazing! He recommended the Alti sweet wine which was just what I needed. The Crisp Wedge salad was a little too wet for me. The bread was soft, the steak was tender, and the lobster Mac n cheese was 'to die for'. (I just could've used a some more flavor on the steak and in the mashed potatoes.)

Carna Baha Mar is a culinary gem at the Baja Mar that offers an exceptional dining experience. For dinner, we indulged in the seafood tower and a selection of ribeyes and filets, and each dish exceeded our expectations. The seafood tower was a visual and gastronomic delight, featuring an impressive array of fresh, high-quality seafood. The oysters were briny and succulent, the lobster was tender and flavorful, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. Each bite was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to sourcing the finest ingredients. The ribeyes and filets were equally outstanding with the filet being our favorite!!Cooked to perfection, the steaks were juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The filet was incredibly tender and cooked to our exact specifications. The accompanying sides were equally impressive, with the truffle mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach standing out as particular highlights. The ambiance at Carna Baha Mar is sophisticated yet inviting, with a modern design that creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service was impeccable, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who made us feel truly valued as guests. Overall, Carna Baha Mar is a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. The combination of exceptional food, elegant ambiance, and top-notch service makes it a standout choice for both special occasions and casual dining. We left thoroughly satisfied.

We are here as a large group of 30 people in a private dining room. So my experience may not reflect that of a normal patron. Service was excellent as we had 2 dedicated servers. Food was served family style. Our steaks were ordered medium but came out more medium rare in my opinion. But they were still very good. Sides were excellent except for the Mac and cheese. I believe it had too much truffle oil for my taste. Cheesecake was awesome. Overall I was very impressed. I will come back again as a “normal” patron and try the Wagyu. 🙂

There was much hype about this restaurant. It carries a big name. When you carry a big name, one needs to deliver on all fronts and not just the decor and curb appeal. It was truly disappointing in many ways. Great ambiance and service was good, not outstanding. The charcuterie board was a let down, wedge salad was ok at best. The asparagus was dry and brussel sprouts were again ok at best. As far as the 32 oz dry-aged porterhouse, it was an absolute let down. I mean the whole steak was off in taste. Was cooked to medium rare as requested but presentation and taste was nowhere near what other steakhouses offer. Guys!! You cannot fool people. Step it up!

Went for dinner on Wednesday night. Had to wait a fair bit to be seated. Was asked to move tables to accommodate a bigger group. The food and service was below average. Not worth the price! Even for Bahamas... The fit out is very nice. Specially the meat display at the entrance. Our food runner forgot one of our side dishes. Told us he will be right back and never came back. The wine selection is great. Take a top with you even in summer as the air-conditioning is full on!!

We went hoping for an amazing experience. Walked in, nice ambiance. We sat at the bar. Great service. Nice bourbon selection although everything is priced at about 5x what you would expect in the states. I had caviar, shrimp cocktail and lamb chops. Amazing going down. We went back to the room later that night and went to sleep. I woke up with the worst food poisoning of my life. Spent 1000$ to puke and have violent diarrhea for 3 hours. Stopped by to notify the manager that they are serving something that isn't right. She seemed to care little and wanted to know who served me and where we sat etc. Invited me back that night as well. We went to Atlantis. I definitely recommend stopping by for a cocktail. If you do dare to eat, make sure it's not caviar, shrimp, cocktail, lamb chops, or any combination of the above.
