NYC’s Carnegie Hall Sues Carnegie Diner Restaurants Over Name | Eater NY

"Opened in 2019, the diner is the defendant in a lawsuit filed Tuesday, May 20 in Manhattan federal court. The company that manages the historic 100-plus-year-old venue alleges the owner, Efstathios Antonakopoulos, has “traded off its image and brand to promote his Carnegie Diners” in Manhattan, New Jersey, and Virginia, with plans to franchise nationwide; inside, the diner features images of the stage and performers along with merch including references to “appearances by singer Bob Dylan, soprano Maria Callas, and civil rights leader Martin Luther King” at [the hall]. The filing says the venue has been trying to resolve this “amicably” for years without success and quotes the complaint: “This is no ‘homage;’ it is theft.” The lawsuit seeks “unspecified damages unspecified damages, a halt to further alleged infringements, and the cancellation of Carnegie Hospitality’s registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for [the diner] restaurants.” In response, Eleni Melekou, Esq. at Pardalis & Nohavicka, who is representing the diner, said: “[The diner] has proudly served its community from when it first opened in 2019. We have built a distinctive brand that stands on its own and earned our reputation of quality food, genuine hospitality, and respect for our neighbors. We believe we have acted in accordance with a prior agreement. We are confident that we and our neighbors will be able to work out any misunderstandings.”" - Melissa McCart

Cute diner. It's got an inviting outdoor section, and many tables inside with wonderful fall decor all around. Pies looked tasty. We ordered the NY Strip and Steak and Eggs - both of the steaks were overly salty, eggs were hard scrambled just warm, and we had to send back the Strip for a longer cook because it wasn't done medium rare as requested. The sears were definitely not in the room with us either, so they probably were cooked from frozen. I know I know, we shouldn't order steaks at a diner but we went for it because we were craving them. The onion rings that came with the strip steak were nice though. Come here for breakfast but avoid the steaks.

Sunday Brunch, pleasant atmosphere, the food staff attempting to accommodate, however overwhelmed. We ordered California Omelette which was good; and Pastrami Sandwich which was dry and no Brown Mustard, only yellow. Bloody Mary was only Tomato Juice and Tabasco but no flavor. Coffee was excellent, they carry Lovazza. We give 3 stars because we were expecting more.

Went here early this morning as an audible while on the road. Lots of great breakfast staples done well. Generous portions to fill your hungry belly or take home for a snack later. The menu had the best food pics, made me want to order EVERYTHING!

Place is really really nice and well organized. The waiters and hostesses are kind and friendly. The vibes and aesthetics are comforting and cozy. Nice mood lighting and music. The food was nothing but phenomenal and finger lickin deliciousness. Aren’t rlly any complaints other than what’s usuall at a busy restaurant… long wait time for the food. But other than that it was nice and the food was amazing so definitely would recommend.

Stopped by after seeing Carnegie Diner and Cafe on DEVOUR POWER'S TikTok page. The Southern Chicken was not spicy as advertised and it was pretty dry. Oreo Milkshake was very thin, almost like a glass of milk and the Oreo was stale. The "egg-strami" sandwich was very good and the house salad with balsamic glaze drizzle was also enjoyable. The service and the atmosphere were pleasant and accommodating.

Google
The lady friend and I came here before a concert in the city and were blown away. The staff were super friendly and the service was exceptional and very fast. I got the chicken sandwich. The chicken was fried to perfection and came on a buttery, delicious brioche roll, plus a spicy aioli to die for...all culminating in probably the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Not to mention it was HUGE and came with a gigantic pile of perfectly crispy and golden fries, and a salad for good measure! And all for under 20 bucks! I can't recall exactly, but I want to say it was like $17.99 or something. We also got the spinach and artichoke dip which was delicious and my friend got the strawberry fields salad and absolutely loved that as well. Cannot recommend this absolute gem of a place highly enough! Delicious food, huge portions and very reasonably priced. Can't possibly ask for anything more!

Well, the burger was terrible. "Organic beef" tasted like one of those cheap frozen burgers you get off store. Totally inedible. Tasty spicy Margarita, small glass for $10 and wasn't full..! Enjoyed the atmosphere and had great service and a nice waiter.. Doubt if we'd go back, which is a pity.

Google
Fantastic spot! You can bring your furry friends, but they're only allowed outdoors. We dropped by for brunch and enjoyed the chicken sandwich, avocado toast, and some mimosas, all of which were excellent. They also offer gluten-free options. We'll definitely be returning!

Yelp
If you're in New Jersey and looking for a place that hits the mark on every front, Carnegie Diner and Cafe is the spot to be! From the moment you walk through the door, you're greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that strikes the perfect balance between modern elegance and classic diner comfort. The ambiance makes it ideal for a relaxed meal, whether you're there for a quick bite or a leisurely dining experience. The food at Carnegie Diner is absolutely top-notch. Whether you're craving hearty comfort food or something a bit more refined, the menu has it all. Their pancakes are fluffy and decadent, the burgers are juicy and flavorful, and the signature sandwiches never disappoint. The diverse menu ensures there's something for everyone, from classic diner staples to innovative specials. Everything is fresh, well-seasoned, and served in generous portions that will leave you fully satisfied. The service is equally exceptional. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely makes you feel like a valued guest. They're quick to answer any questions and ensure your experience is seamless from start to finish. Carnegie Diner and Cafe is a true standout in the area, offering delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and impeccable service. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this is a spot you don't want to miss! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I had a disappointing experience at Carnegie Diner in Secaucus, not once, but twice. Not only was the food underwhelming, but I also found foreign objects in my meal. While eating, I discovered a hairnet in my food which was in my pastrami sandwich. It was kind of melted and after taking a few bites of my sandwich felt and pulled something out of it. The hairnet was all scrunched up and kind of melted together , which was completely disgusting. As if that wasn't bad enough, the time before that, there was also a peppermint tucked into the bottom of my Cole slaw dish, which seemed completely out of place and unhygienic. When I brought it to the attention of the staff, they seemed indifferent, and no real apology or resolution was offered. The overall cleanliness of the diner also left much to be desired, which made the experience even worse. I won't be returning, and I would caution anyone thinking about dining here. It was a truly disappointing and unsanitary experience.

Yelp
I stopped in with my co-worker for a late breakfast on Wednesday and I was impressed with the look of the diner and especially the pastry display up front. It made me want to skip breakfast and go right for dessert. Being back in my hometown area after some time away was nice and I was looking forward to some great diner breakfast options and Carnegie has plenty. Not wanting to completely stuff myself, I just wanted a basic breakfast- eggs, potatoes, and bacon. Carnegie's version comes with...salad. Ok, I've never seen any place serves a salad with eggs and bacon, but whatever, I ordered it. My coworker wanted some fruit, so he ordered the "Symphony" which was three eggs, potatoes and fruit. It cost $5 more than the three eggs, potatoes, and.....salad that I ordered, but again, whatever. Fruit is expensive these days I guess. I added bacon to my order so the prices were about the same. Our server came over after a couple of minutes, got our drinks right away and took our order. She was very pleasant and efficient. Great start! As is the case in the NY/NJ area, our food came within just a few minutes, my coworker was shocked because he is not from the area, shocked and impressed I should say. We looked at our plates and the first thing we noticed was there was no fruit on my coworker's plate, just eggs, potatoes....and salad. So, he paid extra for fruit that he didn't get. I told him to just let the server know, but he didn't want to make a fuss. I told him I would tell her, but he just said no. You'd think the server would have noticed, but she didn't. My eggs were supposed to be over easy and they were over medium at least, closer to hard than medium and that wasn't good. I like to dip an English muffin into the egg and really wasn't able to do that with these eggs. Plus, I literally had the most disgusting English muffin ever- I don't know what brand this diner uses, but it was horrendous, absolutely horrific tasting. It was moist, like it had been wet, it wasn't toasted at all, and it tasted really bad. Like a ghetto brand muffin of some kind. I know you want to save some money, but please, spring for some good old Thomas's English muffins, your customers will appreciate it. The hash browns were very greasy and didn't taste great at all. Both of us barely ate them. About the only thing that was done right was my coworker's scrambled eggs and my bacon tasted really good. I hate to leave this review for any NJ diner, but if you can't get breakfast food right, there are problems. I gave three stars when I really wanted to give two, but I gave an extra star because the place is nice, clean, and the people were nice and I'm sure they would have rectified the fruit thing had we said something, so that's on us I guess. Whenever I'm in town for work, I stay at a hotel nearby, but I think I'll have to find another diner for breakfast.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite and I was not impressed. Lobster roll was very cold and the fries were very hot so it was weird eating them together. The fries were greasy and the lobster wasn't flavorful. Server was nice but seemed to have forgotten about us after the food came out. There were plenty of empty tables but they sat us in a cluster between with three other tables and there was a lot going on. They should have spaced us out more. Cute diner but I am in no rush to return.

Yelp
Carnegie Diner and cafe was a great choice for a corporate group dinner. Very nice decor, excellent service and great food. I had the grilled pork chop with fries and onion rings. Others in my group had salmon, chicken and waffles, the chicken BLT and the lobster roll. Everyone enjoyed the food. Our server was fantastic.

Yelp
Happy Sunday! Date brunch with Hubby at this amazing dinner. Although very crowded wait was very short. Our server was very friendly and welcoming when we were seated. It was cool to see the staff doing face painting for the kids who were there. Food was absolutely delicious and come out the kitchen quickly for a busy day. We will probably make this our new Sunday brunch spot!!!!

Yelp
I'd attended an elite event here a couple of years ago and had a 5 star experience. So when some friends wanted to meet for dinner in Secaucus, I suggested the Carnegie Diner, remembering the fun vibe. For starters we had the artichoke dip and some yummy guacamole and chips. It was still happy hour, so I had a strawberry margarita. The waitress did the right amount of checking in, allowing old friends to catch up with each other while keeping the waters filled and offering drink refills, etc... I ordered the lobster roll, which I wasn't too crazy about. Too mayonnaisey, but NJ isn't the place for a good lobster roll. I should have gone with sliders or the steak which I remembered from the event as excellent. We shared a giant piece of tres leche cake for dessert. So delish! I'd come back just for that.

Yelp
I recently visited Carnegie Diner & Cafe and had a mixed experience. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff was friendly, but the food wasn't what I expected.. I ordered the nachos, hoping for a simple appetizer. Unfortunately, they were dry and lacked the expected cheesy goodness. The toppings didn't do much to enhance the overall taste. For dessert, I decided to try the Oreo milkshake. While I love a good milkshake, this one missed the mark for me. It had too many cake chunks in it, which made it difficult to drink smoothly. Additionally, it was overly sweet. Overall, this diner has potential, but the nachos and Oreo milkshake didn't impress me. I'm hoping they can make some adjustments to improve these dishes.

Yelp
These people make the BEST EGGS BENEDICT I EVER HAD !!! Hands down the very best . I only have ordered delivery that's why I only gave 4 stars .Maybe one of these days I'll stop by for lunch

Yelp
Carnegie Diner & Cafe is a chain of diners that has locations in New York City, New Jersey and Virginia. I recently went to a convention in New Jersey and needed some breakfast and this diner was five minutes away. Carnegie Diner & Cafe is *huge*. I was expecting something like he diners I usually go to in Westfield or Cranford but this place was easily 2-4x the size of those places. It has a very Art Deco/retro look which is aces in my book. Inside there is a beautiful bar with a nice overhang. The seating areas have tables and booths. I chose to sit in a booth and was pleasantly surprised to find almost all the condiments you need are already at the table (including Tabasco sauce!). Most diners I go to don't have anything on the table except maybe salt and pepper nowadays so this was very cool to see. My waitress came over very quickly, introduced herself with a well practiced speech and took my order. I also requested water and coffee. The water came fairly quickly, but the coffee took a bit longer. My food came out within 15 minutes and I was pleasantly surprised to find that my omelette included home fries, toast *and* a small side salad! Be warned however, the toast included is a nice piece of bread (not just flat toast) but it's a very small piece. I enjoyed the food a lot. The omelette was cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed the home fries and salad. My only concern is that once I had my food the waitress never came back to check on me until I was almost done eating. My coffee sat empty for most of the meal and when I realized that the waitress was not coming back I conserved my water but I really shouldn't have had to do that. Overall I had a good experience here but nothing about it would make me drive a half hour out of my way to visit. That said, if I go to another convention in the area I will definitely visit!

Yelp
Carnegie Diner is pretty much everything you want when you're craving solid diner food with a twist. I went in expecting just a standard burger and maybe some fries, but they actually go all out with the portions and options. The menu has so many things to choose from--breakfast, burgers, milkshakes, even waffles--and they're all super decked out, like the Instagram kind. I got a classic cheeseburger, and it was huge and juicy with all the toppings perfectly done, so you're definitely getting your money's worth. The only thing is, it gets pretty busy, so if you're in a hurry, maybe don't go right at peak times. But if you're looking for good food, big portions, and a solid diner vibe, Carnegie Diner doesn't disappoint.

Yelp
Sat outside on a beautiful day around 230pm. The inside noise level was high so outside was a better choice. Pet peeve--salt and pepper sheakers were gritty and sticky. In a good restaurant these are checked each day. Servers seemed overworked and never checked back in so I couldn't get a water refill. Food was ok. Ordered a corn beef sandwich. Nothing like the Carnegie deli of past years. See sandwich photo. I won't be returning.

Yelp
The take out boxes need to go! The food was all over the place and not appetizing . The food was good but the juices had leaked out.
google avatar

Yelp
The food is descent. Not too bad, with the exceptions of the desserts, which are dry and old. The service staff is inexperienced and unprofessional. The ambiance is quite nice and comfortable. *Be mindful of your bill as the servers tip may already be included in your tab!

Yelp
Carnegie's Diner & Cafe presents a delightful dining experience, blending modernity with a touch of the local art scene. The ambiance is an eclectic mix, featuring great modern, upbeat music alongside local modern artwork, creating a vibrant setting. Though the diner becomes noisy at dinner time, its breakfast ambiance ranges from quiet to normal, offering a peaceful start to the day for early birds. The cleanliness of the venue is impeccable, adding to the overall inviting atmosphere. A standout feature is their Pineapple Margarita with Don Julio Silver, a refreshing choice that promises to tantalize the taste buds. The menu is a testament to Carnegie's commitment to quality and creativity. The homemade chili, featuring ground sirloin steak with beans, served with tricolor tortilla chips and cheddar cheese, is a hearty and satisfying dish. For those seeking a unique twist on classic flavors, the Pastrami Burger is a must-try. This culinary creation combines American Wagyu pastrami and organic beef burger with swiss cheese, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and Reuben sauce, accompanied by hand-cut fries. Vegetable enthusiasts will appreciate the Brussel Sprouts, sautéed to perfection with bacon, onions, parmesan cheese, and balsamic glaze, offering a perfect blend of flavors and textures. No visit to Carnegie's would be complete without indulging in their desserts. The large slices of German Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Fudge Cake are decadently satisfying, sure to please any sweet tooth. And for coffee lovers, the fresh Lavazza coffee, bottomless, provides the perfect end to a delightful meal. Carnegie's Diner & Cafe strikes a fine balance between lively and cozy, offering a dining experience that caters to various tastes and preferences. It's a place where the food not only satisfies the palate but also sparks joy with its thoughtful presentation and quality ingredients.

Yelp
I met somebody here for a cup of tea. The service was prompt and friendly. The tea was good. Our server was attentive and patient. The cheesecake was phenomenal, it's really big so you have to share.

Yelp
This place was just okay. The hashbrowns were not cooked completely. The pancakes were okay, kinda too sweet. Service was slow which I kinda get cause it got busy but we were ready for the check and they started clearing our table but didn't bring out the check.

Yelp
Good service but the food is bland. Not Evan salt and pepper can make it taste better the ambiance is good

Yelp
Had a great time at this establishment. Met up with a friend at 11 am for brunch with reservations. Services was really good as was the food. There was a dj at the bar spinning top hits. Good Vibes

Yelp
Enjoyed a yummy lunch today at Carnegie Diner. The entrance to the restaurant brings you to a parking garage, but it's very tight and narrow. So I'd recommend parking in the next lot over that's way bigger (there's Red Lobster, Cava, Shake Shack). The ambience gives off simple diner vibes, nothing special. It is very big and roomy with lots of tables, booths, and a bar section. Ambience rate 7/10. The dishes my boyfriend and I ordered were... 1. Pastrami Burger w/a side of onion rings: The burger was seasoned very nicely, and the pastrami mixed well with the swiss cheese. I appreciated the generous amount of mushrooms given. The burger as a whole tasted delicious and flavorful. The only cons about it was it wasn't cooked to how I asked which was medium rare. Instead it was cooked to medium well. Also, there wasn't much pastrami on the burger, nor rueben sauce. However, the onion rings were great, very nice and crispy. Overall rate: 8.5/10. 2. Egg-Strami Sandwich w/ a side of Parmesan cheese and truffle oil french fries: This was extremely tasty and flavorful. The bread was good, as well as the pastrami. The only downside about this sandwich was it was messy and hard to eat with the runny yolks. The Parmesan and Truffle oil french fries were incredible, you could really taste the truffle! Overall rate 9/10. 3. Vanilla Heaven Iced Coffee: This tasted good, but nothing special. Rate 8/10. Our waitress was nice and helpful. However, the service was slow. It took maybe 20-30 minutes for our food to arrive and 15 minutes for her to give us and pick up the check. Service rate 7/10. Overall, the Carnegie Diner is a place I would go to again.

Yelp
This is a gem!!! On Sundays they provide unlimited mimosas and a DJ. The server came around many many times to refill my mimosas. The food was really good and the presentation was on point. I'd definitely recommend making a reservation because it does get packed. Top 5 breakfast restaurants in NJ right now. Their ambiance is very family and fun.

Yelp
It's been a while since I have been at a diner. I am often overwhelmed by the array of options. However, this day, I truly didn't know what to eat and actually wanted to choose from an assortment of options . Caldwell Diner did not disappoint! When I arrived , we were greeted with a smile and taken to our booth. I wasn't in the mood for anything heavy so I decided to order the Santa Fe salad. My partner ordered the corn beef hash. (Don't know what Daniel L was talking about in his review, it is on the menu). Back to my salad. Omg, it was the freshest salad I've had in a while! I started eating it before I could even take a picture. I asked for the buffalo sauce and the blue cheese dressing on the side. (I like to distribute the sauces myself , it's just a personal preference) I also asked for balsamic vinegar as well. For me, the balsamic wasn't entirely necessary but I wanted it as an option just incase I didn't enjoy the blue cheese. However, the buffalo sauce and blue cheese combo was perfect. The salad was so big, I couldn't eat the entire thing, I was able to take some home. For me, that's a big plus. Leftovers are my jam. Thank you to Ramiro for providing professional, attentive and quick service. He checked on us every so often to make sure we were ok without being too intrusive. Thank you for being friendly and welcoming. I would come here again. I recommend . 5 out of 5.

Yelp
This was the best restaurant we went to in New Jersey yet! The service was GREAT she was so nice and helpful and open, the food came out pretty fast and on top of that it was delicious. The manager checked on us and seated everyone! The place is nice and clean including the silverware and plates! #1 spot in New Jersey! This experience was very EPIC!

Yelp
Great sandwich! The Wagyu pastrami was what nyc is all about! I was here for an event. This diner was everything I imagined an nyc deli sandwich should be. Amazing bread and A piled high meat mountains of juicy buttery pastrami. It melts in Your mouth. The dessert selection was incredible. I highly recommend their chocolate layered cake. It's something you won't be able to get anywhere else and made this chocolate lover very happy

Yelp
It wasn't packed. I think part of the allure is for the summer with the outdoor seating. My avocado toast was tasty. My husband liked his omelette. We ordered a pancake set to share. I was not fond of the pancakes. They had a citrus flavor. I didn't think it was anything extra special. My son enjoyed his lollipop pancakes. It is a cute touch. Maybe for the evening it's better. They have a large list of appetizers and drinks.
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
My party and I ordered the carniege nachos, and substituted the chicken with impossible meat (which was delicious), my cousins ordered an impossible burger which they split (girls), I ordered the pastrami burger (medium) which was perfectly cooked. Sebastian our server was very friendly, patient, attentive, and helpful. The manager Foad even came by and greeted us, and was super friendly. I felt like the service was exceptional. For dessert we ordered the waffle ice cream sandwich milkshake and baklava. Ambiance was trendy and clean. The bathroom was clean as well.

Yelp
Food was good, had a pastrami rueben. service good, music was horrible, sound system even worse.

Mechelle R.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the food and service!!! Our server Nick took care of all our requests The atmosphere was bright, clean and invitin...added bonus was chatting with the manager about the decor. We'll visit again soon!!

Yelp
Somewhat below average pastrami sandwich and fries Not the most attentive waitstaff but they were friendly enough Cool and clean spot tho

Yelp
The food was great. We had fried calamari as an appetizer and burgers for the entree. The atmosphere was nice, cozy, and welcoming. Service was absolutely fantastic, and we adored our server along with fair prices! This is our go-to burger spot for sure here in New Jersey!

Yelp
Thanks for another amazing day at Carnegie dinner & Cafe. Thanks to their managers, Fouad & Tom. along with their server Ina and hosts Telma. ,

Marcela L.

Yelp
This was my first time at this spot. They have a nice setup for outdoor dining. The decor inside is also very nice. The host was pleasant. The waitress was friendly. The food was okay. I had the country style omelet which came with hash browns and a salad with toast. Omelet was a bit dry. The salad is a bit odd for me with a breakfast dish but it did taste fresh. I also had the caramel macchiato but it was warm and closer to cold temperature. The taste was decent. My daughter had the chicken wings and she did not like their Buffalo sauce. The fries were good though. Hubby had the classic Benedict with smoked salmon and he loved it. He was actually the one who truly enjoyed his meal. He also had a mimosa and he said it was good and strong. The other person in our party had the BLT which she said was decent. Total bill was pretty economical for our party. The ambiance is cool but the food wasn't my fave.

Yelp
Clean establishment, fast service , and amazing tasting food. Get their pastrami burger if you dare -- it'll ruin burgers for you forever.
google avatar

Rosie B.

Yelp
Not a good first time experience. Food was bland. Chicken wings were ok... Kobe burger was the biggest disappointment -asked for medium got well done, Egg was dry, Mac and cheese bun had absolutely no taste. Not to mention the plate ends up looking like a murder scene since you have to eat it with a fork and knife. The waitress took FOREVER to attend us (and no, they had plenty of staff and small crowds ) just to get the bill and collect payment took over 30 minutes. I had high hopes for this place but unfortunately I won't be coming back sgain

Danny P.

Yelp
This is an amazing place with great options. Nick our waiter is always the best. He's always attentive and friendly. That's one of the reasons we come back.

Yelp
Food was super fresh. The waitress was this sweet Turkish girl. The diner looked very nice and clean . Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Bathrooms and parking behind the restaurant. It's with chipotle. I ordered the protein sunshine (egg white chicken feta and spinach omelet). It was great but originally he brought me the complete wrong order and walked away and I had to track him down and say I got the wrong order which then I had to sit and explain how it was wrong. So that made it go down a couple stars but I did enjoy the food. I did say I couldn't eat the toast and didnt get any substitution for that, and it was the same price. Which later I saw there was gluten free bread which should have been offered. Looks like they have gluten free bread for the sandwiches and hamburgers substitution but they have a huge list of desserts but only the ice cream is gluten free. Same for the really cool milkshakes! Each milkshake has cookie, cake or pancakes, maybe you can ask to just not include the cake parts. They have lots of options, possibly need help with the service. So be ontop of what your order is and be vocal about if you need a coffee or water refill. It was pretty empty when I was there (it was early so that is reasonable) but maybe there's better service later on?
google avatar

Andres P.

Yelp
Absolutely will never step foot in this place again. The manager Fouad has zero respect for staff, is incredibly unprofessional, saying things like they've wasted his time if they end up leaving after the Training process and questioning whether they deserve to even be paid. Staff overall don't even seem to understand how to work together. Save your money, go somewhere where people are treated with respect and decency.

Yelp
Went again on a Saturday at 11:30 am and it was fairly empty so we got a table pretty quickly. My friend and I were greeted by a very friendly waiter named Justin and he made us laugh and was very attentive. He was quick to fill our coffee cups and brought us extra napkins. My friend and I each had a french toast platter - she had the fruit french toast platter and I had the apples and caramel french toast platter - both were huge and delicious. We saw more food coming out for other patrons and it looked very good and we said we'd have to come back again for lunch or dinner. Glad to see there is another diner in town with plenty of seating and parking. And was glad it was greatly improved from my last visit. Will be back again the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
This place is a must try if you're in the secaucus plaza area! The service was top notch and very attentive. I don't think there was a single time I had to ask for more of something after ordering my food because of how attentive they are. The music is a tad bit loud so going with the big party size I had made it difficult to have conversations across the table. I'm sure the smaller booths are probably okay, but if you're going with 5+ people be aware of having to project your voice a lil more, even to the waiter. I ordered 2 diner staples -- A burger and a milkshake! More specifically, I ordered the wagyu kobe burger with french fries and a brownie milkshake. The burger was pretty good and flavorful but to be honest i'm not sure that, for the price it costs, id order that over a regular cheese burger. On the other hand, the milkshake was absolutely incredible! 10/10 I would highly recommend trying out their assortment of milkshakes because that was easily the highlight of the entire meal. Overall, I had a pretty good first experience here with my group of friends and would definitely come back to try more menu items.

Yelp
My partner and I arrived here on a late Sunday and were seated promptly. The restaurant was fairly packed, so a reservation is recommended during peak times. I ordered the Central Park burger and he ordered the fried chicken sandwich. Truthfully, they both looked much better than they tasted. The plates were filled with sides which we appreciated, but the taste was just okay. My burger was cooked well, as were the fries, but on taste alone, I wasn't impressed, because it tasted pretty bland. As for the chicken sandwich, it was pretty dry and bland as well. The only thing I'd want to try is the desserts honestly, but I was feeling full. It's a bit high for the price point and for what it is. I'm in no rush to come back unfortunately.

Yelp
Very very friendly staff with a large bar area and high tops. The croissants are delicious and my breakfast sandwich which was nice and crispy bacon and eggs was on point. Everything that I've tried here has been good so make you're way on over and order a drink with your food you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
What a wonderful dinner I had tonight at the Carnegie Diner. From the warm greeting to the excellent service to the tasty fresh food, it could not have been better. The pleasant diner atmosphere is obvious with a touch of musical instrument wallpaper bearing tribute to Carnegie Hall for which it is named. Our waitress Ena took meticulous care of us making us feel like we were the most important customers in the restaurant. The manager stopped by to see if we were satisfied. We were. So how do you make a perfect dining experience even better? How about free coffee and dessert with Yelp check-in. Thanks, I will gladly partake. Undoubtedly we will be back.

Yelp
I love the Carnegie Diner in Secaucus. They have a huge menu perfect whatever craving you have, from mozzarella sticks and burgers to massive shakes. Can we talk about the shakes for a minute?? You can get ones with the entire slices of cake on top. This visit I was just craving a pastrami sandwich and there's is massive and such flavorful meat. The space is modern and good for groups. Service is always on point and very fast.

Yelp
The appetizer was average. The entrees were good. The dessert was o and k. We had mozzarella sticks , pastrami sandwich and burger and fries. Quality of food was good. A bit pricy but good. Only critique is that the fries could have been a bit crispier. And I can't lie for the pricy the quantity of the pastrami could've been better. The menu stated 1/2 pound however didn't look like 1/2 to me. The side salad was very good. The cheesecake was good but very citrusy. The carrot cake was overly sweet and s hard to finish and also very dry. I should have returned it. If I returned definitely would not get the pastrami again, the burger is definitely a re-order. We went on a Sunday which was popular for its mimosas brunch. There are flat screen tvs and the music is surprisingly very loud, so if you're looking for a semi quiet relaxing spot. This is not it. Not on Sunday anyways. Wait time: 10/10 Service: 6/10 Food: 8/10 Ambience: loud, family friendly, themed Price point: 5/10 Would you return: yes

Yelp
This place is nicer than your average diner and has a pretty big menu. Our waitress was attentive and made good menu suggestions, and the movie posters and big bar space make for nice decor. The spinach and artichoke dip was a tasty appetizer and plenty of chips to go around. My friend had the fettucine Alfredo, and I had the pastrami, and we both had enough for lunch the next day. The pastrami comes on rye (no option for club which I prefer) and with mustard, but I recommend getting that on the side if at all. It's a decent pastrami sandwich but the salad it comes with isn't much, just lettuce and vinaigrette. Would be nice to pick a side option, but it also comes with sauerkraut, a tiny cup of cole slaw, and a pickle. It's decent pastrami, but no kosher deli in NYC, but hey, in Secaucus, it does the trick. I think this is a good food option in the plaza and a good place to meet some friends for a decent meal (and a half to go).
