Chicago’s Best Tavern-Style Pizza | Eater Chicago

"Exuding Old World charm, this family-run establishment has been a steady presence on the Northwest Side for decades. Owner Salvatore Canale makes everything from scatch, and his top notch thin crusts sport a second layer of cheese over the toppings. Selections include the La Villa Special (sausage, pepperoni, green pepper, mushroom, green olives, onion), Veggie Alfredo, and Southwestern (barbecue sauce, chicken, bacon)." - Ashok Selvam

Are you kidding me? Some of the best tacos in the city! Now that $4 tacos are standard, I'm not that willing to get them. This is one of the few places they're worth it! Asada, pastor, carnitas - u can't go wrong - haven't had a bad experience yet

This place used to be the best. Now, not so much. They no longer charge broil the meat. Not they use a flat top. I can understand the prices going up but the sizes are smaller too. I won't go back here. The Taconazo on Central between Fullerton and Diversey is Way better!

Let me start off my saying their food is great. I shop here often when visiting my in laws who live 2 blocks away. I've never had a problem until the other day. I sent my son to buy tortillas. He got 8 packs tortillas and 4 fifty cent bags of chips and a sweet bread. The cashier charged him $31. When he gave us the receipt i sent him and his dad back. The cashier told his father that the reason she charged him an extra $25 was because he didn't know Spanish. After his father got mad because how In the world can you justify overcharging a 12 yr old $25 simply because he only speaks English, they refused to refund us. Her next excuse was my son robbed something. Nothing I'm the store cost $25 that he could take except for meat. He did not stick 5 pounds of meat down his pants. His father asked if anyone saw him take something and if they could look at the cameras because we would gladly pay for anything he "stole". They told us they wouldn't review the cameras and no one saw him take anything but that he had a lot of stuff when he came up to the register. Only after he was going to call the cops because they refused to return the money they issued a refund. If you have teenage kids who go to this corner store please review your receipt. $25 is a lot of money to overcharge. We were not given an apology and I feel that is a shame. No matter our skin color or what language we speak all of our money is green! The only thing I want is an apology from discriminating against my son based on him only knowing English.

The taqueria in the back is a GEM in the neighborhood. I recommend getting a pound of cooked skirt steak from them, buying some tortillas and smashing it at home. Best dinner ever. Bring cash for tips

Carne asada tacos are so good and juicy. The Salsa Verde is amazing too, it's such a small spot but it's great for takeout. Totally recommend it for takeout.

Yelp
Inside of a grocery store there is a counter with about 7 seats where you can get tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, burritos, horchata. It's definitely divey. Not for the feignt of heart. Food was tasty.

Yelp
What can I say about this place The Cooks are very disrespectful only if they knew that I understood and spoke Spanish and the way they talk to people that don't speak or understand Spanish is very very disrespectful and racist. I brought the attention to the lady behind the counter and she says "oh well not me problem that's my people are" her exact words after I heard her say that I didn't charge anything to my credit card and walked out so if you don't look mexican I don't think you're welcome in there just a heads up but they do got good tacos

Yelp
If I could give them a zero rating I would. The restaurant is extremely disgusting! Employees do not wash their hands before prepping each meal in the restaurant. I have several video footage of them touching trash, touching their cell phones ect then preparing hot food without washing their hands. It has been reported to the city of Chicago. Yes I went out of my way to show them the footage of this filthy restaurant that got my me sick. Their disgusting. I hope I was able to help anyone out there that had in mind to come eat there. If not go see for yourself how they prep your food.

Yelp
Their platillo of carne asada is to dye for, so juicy and tender, they give you generous portions.
