Eugene, Oregon’s Best Restaurants and Food Carts

"This Mexican butcher shop and market on the far east side of Springfield is a necessary stop on the way back into town after a visit to the McKenzie River area. Walk up to the counter and place an order. The combinations are simple but well-made with options like barbacoa de res (beef barbacoa) burritos, birria de chivo (goat birria) tacos, chimichangas, and menudo. Horchata fans will be pleasantly surprised by the recipe served here, which is still a treat without being cloyingly sweet. Take your meal to-go — and perhaps some ingredients to stock your pantry and fridge — or gather in the simply decorated adjacent dining room." - Brenna Houck, Eater Staff

I love the arrachera marinada. So tasty. The carniceria has great meat. Also lots of fresh produce and homemade salsas and pico. Every time I'm in, I grab a couple of tacos for a snack. The attached picture is a meal made completely from mi tierra.

Tried this place tonight. We moved here recently and we’re looking for a New Mexican place near us. I was VERY PLEASED with the service, quality, flavor and how nice the staff are. I don’t speak any Spanish, and the women were still able to help me get exactly what I wanted. I will DEFINITELY have this as my go to place from now on. Also, a huge meat selection, and tons of hot sauces. They do to-go orders, and also have a dine in area.

In my search for a dozen enchiladas for the weekend, I stopped here. It is a cheerful, clean, nicely organized shop selling groceries and Mexican food. They preferred to sell whole meals and have a pleasant little dining room. They never seemed to understand my order for a platter of enchiladas. I ended up getting a dinner of two enchiladas and skipped the beans and rice. The enchiladas were absolutely delicious, covered with cheese and perfectly cooked. Hopefully, we will eventually work out selling a dozen at a time!

Google
An absolute first class Mexican grocery store. Produce and meats were phenomenal. The restaurant is cute and basic. The food is good, beans and rice were a little dry but the meats were fantastic and some of the best corn tortillas I have ever had. A great selection of everything in the store. Definitely worth a visit.

I really don’t like writing bad reviews for Mexican restaurants, because I am half Hispanic and half white. This is the first. I had good experiences prior to the day I brought my white boyfriend here. The food was great, but I received the wrong order. However, when I got there I ordered and then waited 25 minutes for a to-go order, and was almost double charged by the same woman, asking me if I had paid. We were ignored and had 6 people that came after me already served before me. I felt like a second class citizen. That hurts because I hyped you guys up for the quality of food, and in the end you guys embarrassed me in front of my partner to be treated this way. It’s the fact with politics going on and that you have all experienced this treatment, but to treat me this way as a paying customer, it was very obvious I was discriminated because my boyfriend is white. Do better.

Finally they are open!!! I was so excited 😀 finally there's a great Mexican store with a wide variety of groceries, meat, cheeses, salsas, cooked ready to go meals(Birria, pozole, beans, rice). I haven't tried the restaurant yet but will update when i do. Update 2/19 had chorizo breakfast burrito it was Big had a genourus amount of filling, i give it 3 stars only because it could use more seasoning (salt) but it was good. Everyone was really nice and friendly (carnicero, cook, cashier) Fruit and veggies are fresh. Highly recommend it, the only place I'll be shopping at for Mexican food needs

This place was absolutely amazing. It is authentic and so tasty. It reminds me of new Mexican, Mexican food or what my Spanish grandma used to make. The red chili is not super spicy, so it is good for people with more sensitive palettes. They give you salsas of all varieties to spice things up for the people that like that spice. The people were friendly and had English speaking employees as well as Spanish. I was really happy about this because I have neglected to learn the language even though half my family is Spanish. The carne asada and carnitas were spiced to perfection. They have menudo that brought happy tears to my eyes. I haven't tasted menudo that good for more than five years. I can't wait to go back to try the birria. I did order it this time but they did not hear me. I was not even disappointed because it was just THAT good. Don't let the atmosphere trick you. It is a little plain and deserted in the restaurant area. my mom wanted to leave by the look of it, but I know good authentic food comes from places like that. I hope this place continues to make food this delicious and does well.

Google
We ordered a tostada con carne asada and enchiladas Rojas. Hands down the best, freshest fast Mexican food I’ve had in Oregon. Plus the Mercado is extremely well turned out, with delicious fresh salsas for sale in bulk.

Yelp
We love coming here whether it's to buy food to cook at home or order at the counter and eat in the dining area. All of their salsas are full of flavor (especially their salsa naranja). The marinated carne asada, chicken and al pastor are bursting with flavor. Produce is fresh and staff is friendly.

Yelp
Dropped in to check out the market and grab a quick bite. Counter service only here...order from the cashier at the entrance to the dining room, grab a table and wait for your order to be called out. My friends ordered burritos and both said they were very good. Three salsas of varying heat were provided so you can try all three and find your fave. I had a Barbacoa de res torta. Standard torta ingredients include beans, onions, lettuce, tomato, cheese, cream and your meat of choice. Overall a pretty solid sandwich. The Barbacoa was flavorful and this sammy will satisfy. The bread could have used a bit more of a toast to hold together all the ingredients...keep this one wrapped as you eat! The dining area was pretty full of patrons so looks like this is a pretty popular spot. Get your groceries and a tasty meal in one spot...I'm in!

Yelp
I've been going to this little gem for about two years now. It's the trifecta; grocery store, meat market, restaurant & deli, with hot premade items in their large display cases(not to mention salsa & ceviche in their cold display case. I usually call ahead and order over the phone, but there is ample seating on the west side of their building. The employees that work there are always friendly and will gladly answer any questions regarding the food & products that they have. I highly recommend anyone that hasn't gone there yet, to pop in & check it out. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Amazing posole, al pastor tacos and asada burrito. The flavors are on point. I come from Southern California and this place has the flavors that i am used to having from socal. Glad this place is legitimately the best Mexican food since moving here

Yelp
Nice people and a good selection of fresh produce and raw meat/marinated to make your Mexican meals.

Yelp
This is now where I stop to pick up fresh produce and extras for dinner in Springfield. The selection of salsas is incredible and I love picking up fresh crema to top off mexican food rather than using sour cream. The store is spotless and the smells are intoxicating, plus perfect avocados are always available in the produce aisle. I haven't tried many of the grocery items. The taqueria is so far a hit as well.
