Let's talk about the food.
I'm somewhat of a carnitas connoisseur, and after reading a previous review about the #3 combo, my mouth was watering to try this place.
The menu is straightforward and consists of carnitas, cueritos [braised pork skin], rice, and beans.
You can get carnitas in combo plates, tacos, burritos, or quesadillas.
Back to my food. I ordered the #3 combo, 1/2 pound carnitas mixto, rice, beans, spicy salsa, and 6 corn tortillas.
The rice was perfectly cooked and very flavorful.
The beans were very tasty and added a nice compliment to rice and carnitas.
Now, the carnitas mixto, the cueritos, were expertly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. The carnitas were good but were a bit dry. I'm glad I added the cueritos because this added the necessary fat content.
Usually, carnitas will plenty of their own fat content, but these may have been made with pork cushion rather than pork shoulder.
One of the first things I noticed after walking through the door was the huge cazos (traditional pot used for cooking carnitas, usually made of copper) in the kitchen.
Service was adequate, and the cashier is there to take your order, take payment, and call out your number when your order is ready.
There's a few tables if you choose to dine inside. Be forewarned, there is no restroom for public use.
Ambiance is pretty much non-existent. Which is fine because you're just there to eat or take your food to go.
