The 38 Best Tacos in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"In the ebb and flow of carnitas stands along the Mercado Olympic (which occupies parts of the street in a Downtown area known as the Piñata District), one woman has found success over decades. A line of diverse customers comes to the bustling street food hub just for Guadalupe Baez’s pork confit tacos. Baez makes supple, caramel-colored cuts like nana (uterus), trompa (snout), orejas (pig ears), buche (hog maw), and racks of ribs. Baez, whose charm is part of her taquería’s popularity, began her carnitas business during the pandemic, and three booming stands later, she’s planning to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant." - Bill Esparza

It was ok, the carnitas are good but not the best I've had before. The taste of orange peel is kind of strong, the service was fast and the people working there really nice. They just had my order wrong 😬 my taco people... the salsa is really important to give flavor to the tacos ( the salsa it's ok ). I don't know how much are the tacos but for 6 tacos and 2 aguas it was $40, the tacos are well served.

It's a good place with authentic carnitas Michoacan style. The problem is the parking , and the small place.

The food is great and the handmade tortillas are tasty. Las aguas frescas aren't too sweet either. I recommend ordering by the pound when you come to eat. FYI on the parking, prices are a scam so try to park further away.

Cartitas are very good, and they serve the tacos with hand made tortillas also you cor order by the pund, staff is very friendly, Prices of taco and by the pound are $5 taco and 17 by the pound, a little bit pricey but the tacos are very well serve with plenty of meat that make them worth the 5 dls,

This place is more 7 stars, not just 5. The food which is pork only- we're talking all pork. You have a choice of carnitas only or a nice mix of skin, ears, nana sausage (pork tripe); but it all tastes great. Hand made tortillas then they load the tortillas up- I'm talking stacked with juicy succulent pork. You get an array of chilli salsas, four types of onion toppings. Basically they bring the tacos, you build the rest to your liking. The waitresses/waiters are fast and extremely courteous always at your service. Great place to eat, the food and salsas are fresh, proof is in the taste.

Google
Carnitas is what they do and the do them very well. They have handmade tortillas and wow! The taco was delicious without even adding anything else and that's how you know it's good carnitas. Once you add the salsa and Pico de Gallo, well all I have to say is you must try it.

Yelp
Located in what I read as the 'piñata district' of downtown Los Angeles, the spot specializes in Michoacán-style carnitas (or pork confit). This stand feels family owned and operated with some very friendly folks. I came in the middle of the day recently, and it was sweltering hot in the area. They have a seating area right behind the stand that is shaded and has lots of fans blowing. It was actually quite comfortable in the eating area. I ordered two carnitas tacos which come on some pillowy soft handmade fresh corn tortillas. The carnitas itself has a nice crispy texture and was so very flavorful. I also ordered a cucumber agua frescas, which was so refreshing in the sweltering downtown summer heat and a good pairing with the spicy salsa. The toppings and salsas as well as fresh limes, are all located in the seating area, so you can top your tacos at your leisure. I'm a huge fan of spots like this. The place itself and the person behind it - Guadalupe Baez - is such a great underdog story filled with lots of trials, tribulations, and resilience. Street parking was pretty easy to find in the area, but I can see how the weekends might get a little packed.

Yelp
Everything is so delicious. The hospitality is top of the line very nice hard-working people. Food was delicious. Cheap and very filling I would definitely recommend you to come give them a try. I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Loaded tacos! Light flavor on meat, freshly cooked on the grill tortillas. Ask for a few extra tortillas to portion out the meat. Open air, outdoor seating. Parking in back for $10 all day. You can buy your own bag of avocados out front to go with your meal, 5 for $8. A banda set up in the parking lot and blared their music for 15 mins, requested tips. Down to earth real LA experience. $26.50 for 4 tacos and 3 sodas.

Yelp
The food is good and so is the service but lacking cleanliness. There was a green fly in my food ‍. I noticed something weird and spit it out to my surprise to find a fkn FLY. I feel sick just thinking about it GROSSSSSS never going back im so disappointed considering I kept recommending this place to people.

Yelp
Quality carnitas with a choice between hand made tortillas or store bought tortillas. They're also moving up to a store front soon. Their service is all ways great with fresh salsa and vegetables platters. The prices and freshness are worth taking the drive to what I like to call it little TJ.

Yelp
Ordered to go by the pound around noon which from what I was told by a friend who recommended them, is too late in the day for the right experience. Either way I expected a much better taste. The mixed carnitas order tasted like old oil. The handmade tortillas were great and the lady who put my order together was very kind. I was told to be there when they open for a better taste. Probably won't try again.
