Carnitas Uruapan

Some of the best carnitas (deep fried pork). No menu posted, so you have to know what cutting you want for tacos, burritos, combo plates. I had a carnitas taco with cutting of meat and buche (stomach lining), a birria taco (roasted goat meat), a cup of birria broth, a side of beans, and a lime/cucumber drink. The tacos are served with a lot of meat, enough to make two tacos out of one and they have some of the best aguas frescas! They have a large patio seating area in the back of the restaurant parking lot and a sink to wash your hands(which you will need). Good eats!

Food was great but the ratio of meat to tortillas was a bit off aka too much meat. The birria is real goat not beef that other cheaper places use. Costilla entero wasa treat as well

This place has pretty much any part of the pig ready to be made into a taco. You can also order tacos with mixed parts. I recommend the buche with carnitas or skin with carnitas. You can also order pig feet whole. This is such a unique place and I haven't found any other place like it. Overall 4/5

just had these for the first time and thought they were awesome, the carnitas were both juicy and flavorful and would definitely come back to this place again.

Had the rib tacos and carnitas. To drink I had orange juice freshly squeezed. The servings are enormous for sure. The staff is very friendly and attentive. You can order inside and outside as well. I think you need to get there really early if you want to try the tripa which is my favorite pork serving. There are three types of Salsa. Surprised to find they also serve lamb and barbacoa.

Great food but the service is horrendous. They prioritize orders for customers coming to eat-in and call orders ahead of yours first. Be sure to come ready to wait minimum 30-45 minutes for one order of a pound of carnitas. Crazy!

After watching tons of Mexican food videos in YouTube. I was craving a taco de cueritos y buche. So I remember my father used to bring us to this place when I was younger and the tacos were/are very tasty. I came on a Wednesday around 2 PM and hardly no one was there. I ordered 2 tacos, buche con cueritos and another with cueritos con masiza. They were huge and just like I remembered them, yummy and soft. They have 3 kind of salsas on 3 huge trays. The only thing is that they give you lemon wedges instead of lime wedges. Other than that, I was glad I came here to satisfy my cravings. Also the taquero and the cashier were pleasant to talk to. I give my seal of approval if you are craving a delicious taco de carnitas y cueritos.

Authentic tacos and delicious tacos. Different meat is available so it depends on the stock. Overall great tacos $3-4/taco and the portions were quite large. Definitely recommend !

Carnitas were really tasty. Great balance of fat, crispiness, and seasoning! Ronaldo is running the show and still was able to provide exceptional customer service, a smile, and consistent food. It's always nice supporting a local business owner that believed in his product. Vivian is awesome too whenever she's there. It can get busy so expect some noise, laughter, and potentially taking food to go. Cheers! - Albert

Stopped by Carnitas Uruapan and ordered carnitas, beans, rice, and chicharrón. I didn't get the mixed carnitas--just the plain cut--and they came out a bit dry and bland. Maybe the mixed version would've had more flavor, but this one didn't quite hit the mark. On the bright side, the chicharrón was phenomenal--crispy, rich, and easily the best I've had. The beans and rice were also excellent, definitely a 5/5. Parking is limited, so if you arrive during peak hours, expect a tight squeeze. Overall, the sides and chicharrón were impressive, but the carnitas could use some improvement. Since this is a Carnitas place.

Delicious carnitas! The carnitas was very moist and flavorful. The owner was very kind and offered a sample of their birria which was amazing! Will definitely be coming back.

As the name suggests, the name of the game here is carnitas! There were renovations going on in the building that is right off the street, so there's a trailer you go to towards the back and order and dine with some benches back there. The service feels pretty standard at taco trucks/stands and the folks were friendly, helpful, and efficient. I also came here on the earlier side because I made stop here in the morning before meeting my brother's family at Disneyland that day. It was already really busy! Waiting in line with the crowd made me feel like I was at the neighborhood carne asada, haha. I ordered two mixto tacos....but honestly...I could have been good with just one. They are huge. And after topping them off at the salsa and toppings bar...it was almost too much food. And I'm not a small person. The meats were delicious and the salsas were fresh and tasty. Just really delicious tacos. I was able to find street parking nearby. The location of this place feels like the old town / industrial area.

The food is amazing I love the cabeza n Cueritos my favs. I would recommend to come back again.

The food is great, service is quick, and the people are helpful! Their salsa is great as well. I'm coming back for sure! I didn't give it a 5 star because their prices could be better. There is a lot of competition for this food in Santa Ana and I can probably get a lot more for my buck there. For context, $77 for 5 lbs of meat, 87 with a side of beans. No tortillas.

I didn't expect much when I came by But boy was I wrong. I tried a taco mixto de carnitas and I still remember the flavor til this day! Soft and delicious I really enjoyed it!

My son arrived from S. Korea and was craving carnitas. Meat was all right according to him. He thought it was good. Prices are good. Service was good. Friendly staff. Used my yelp check in and got us some goat broth.

I was long overdue for a trip to Carnitas Uruapan and went mid-week with a friend around noon. The carvers are great and loaded us each up with two massively fresh and tasty carnitas tacos with everything (aka onion & cilantro mix) and a wedge of lemon/lime. We grabbed a seat out front sharing the table with two others. As I was eating my first taco, I thought to myself, I can't remember ever enjoying a carnitas taco more than this one. Here's my move...add a little salt on top of the tacos, squeeze the citrus on top, pick up taco, holding tightly, dunk it deeply into the cup of consume followed by splash of any of the three different and super delicious salsas, then stuff it in your mouth. It's the whole package. You can order different parts of the pig when they are making your taco or burrito right there in front of you. I love the food and the people are friendly. A clear 5-Stars again for me on the food. The ambiance is a little lacking out front and I'm not taking the wife there but it is what it is and I'm not marking them down for that. If your goal is to eat at some of the best taco spots Santa Ana has to offer, I think Carnitas Uruapan has got to be on the list.

Excellent food if you are in the mood for pork. The service was helpful and a bit funny. Ambiance thought felt like it was out of someone's home. Wish they had more seating but would come back again just for their pork tacos.

I know Uruapan is famous for their carnitas, so I was excited to try this place, and it 100% delivered. I ordered the carnitas tacos and they were absolutely delicious. First of all, they are big tacos and the meat is so tender and flavorful. They add onions and they also have some tasty salsas you can add. The prices were great for all the food you get. I loved the artwork of Uruapan that they had inside. I also noticed that they sell aguas frescas which I would love to try next time.

Was craving buche so i came by this Friday. Two tacos, one of buche and the other buche/carnitas. These are hands down some of the best carnitas in southern california. It gets crowded for lunch sometimes so just be prepared to wait a bit. Other than that, come check them out. You wont be dissappointed.

This place always adds to your order without asking you. When it's time to pay it's always more than you requested but You pay for it especially if it's the gay lady serving you. Worse of all if you go too early they serve you leftovers from the day before, carnitas are chewy, hard, and greasy. The salsa has always bubbles which means it's about to go sour. On top of all that they charged me for no-bone ribs when I got bone in. Prices are high compering to other places. Too bad because this place used to be good, Now is Better if You go somewhere else.

Disgraceful Service at Carnitas Urapan, Santa Ana. recently visited Carnitas Urapan in Santa Ana and had a very disappointing experience. Due to renovations, I had to go to the back trailer, where I encountered an older female staff member. She started speaking to me in Spanish, even though I don't speak the language. Despite making it clear that I didn't understand, she continued to speak only in Spanish and gave me terrible service. What made the situation even worse was that she called me a "gringo" and used other verbally abusive words that I understood. Her body language and looks felt intended to humiliate me. This was not only poor service but also racially insensitive and completely unprofessional.Because of this disgraceful treatment, I will never return to the Santa Ana location. This type of behavior is unacceptable in any business.

We came to try some cueritos and also carnitas, I did like them just they were to sweet, we also got birria but it taste it like barbacoa, the cashier was a little rude and seemed like he was in a hurry, we like the outside dinner but it's not clean at all, they should put attention to the small details to make the costumers comfortable!

So authentic. This is a little hole in the wall. Literally. Super small spot. The line starts once you enter. Once you reach the front, you'll see the meat selection from the serving area. I ordered 1 carnitas taco & 1 buche taco. Wanted to try the lengua but they were sold out that day. The tacos are stacked and on the larger side. All served with lime, cilantro, and onions. Carnitas Tacos (8/10) Buche Tacos (9/10) They have a self serving salsa bar with both green and red salsa. The 2 tacos cost me about $7 after tax. Definitely worth it!

Exelente comida lastima que los trabajadores estan maa preocupados por su musica que esta demasiado alta y no puedes ni ordenar del escandalo, y su musica puras mentadas de madre, y aqui hay niños que no es un restaurante familiar? Primera vez que compré chicharrón botanero pensé que había encontrado el mejor chicharrón botanero de Santa Ana, pero la segunda vez que compré me llevé una sorpresa porque estaba duro como una roca y por ese motivo lo he calificado como chicharrón quiebra muelas

Carnitas If your craving carnitas this place is good the flavor is good and authentic but if you want to get the best part of the carnitas you need to get in there early before they run out thru the day and you get what's left

Carnitas are now being made out back behind the building in a food truck and they are the worst ive ever had. They had an orange/red coloring to them, cueritos were basically raw and it looked like mostly scrapped meat. Compared to the times I've been here before they have gone down hill real fast. Take a look at your order before taking them!

This place is the best for Carnitas!! Hands down and they have EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

The carnitas have food coloring added to them and the meat is dry. The tortillas are not fresh, they're microwaved. They charge $2 extra for chiles and carrots. I'm not a fan of adding food coloring to carnitas. I hope this helps if your looking for a honest review.

Another installment of my EOY revisit of great 5* places I will never forget. Next is Carnitas Uruapan. Think you know authentic Mexican chow? Come here and you will know it like never before. I still laugh at what Yelper Frank S. said about his co-workers: "The sight of skulls, snouts, internal organs scar(r)ed them so much they are now reluctant to eat at places I recommend." Ah, a live well lived. And a pig well consumed, from snout to organs and everything in between. Have a squeamish friend? The CU will cure them of that embarrassing affliction.

It's really good food. I would say get one taco it's enough meat to make two tacos with the extra tortilla ... they kitchen workers there are awesome and so funny, if you speak Spanish it's a def. Fun time. Very small area, but cool feeling of a genuine Mexican carniceria..... the area it's at is in a lot of need of some TLC but if you are humble enough and love food you'll be alright... don't need napkins, it's finger licking good.

I love it when I find these little hidden gems. This place smelled so good from the outside and as I was working in the area I can see they had a steady flow of customers. I felt the urge to try, glad I did! I got 3 carnitas tacos, it was $10 and some change. They gave me two cups for salsa and the salsa's were a great complement to some amazing tasting, perfectly marinated carnitas held in a warm, fresh tortilla. Super simple yet so good! I would definitely recommend trying and I can't wait to work in the area again ;)

We had Birria Burritos for lunch. I had Tamarind water my coworker had Hibiscus water. This burrito must've been about 3 1/2 pounds. The lady serving us the food was nice enough to give us free Chicharrónes to try. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Artery clogging good. No vegans allowed. Absolutely the best carnitas is the area, make sure you bring a defibrillator,and a wheelbarrow to get Carrie's out. Chulada de carnitas.

Llevo años comiendo en este lugar, a mí hija, mi esposo y a mi nos fascinan esos tacos desafortunadamente tuve un pequeño mal entendido por qué mandé a mi hija a comprar tacos, pidió tres tacos pero no le entregaron lo que ella pidió y fríos hasta ahí sin problema por que son errores humanos el detalle fue cuando llegó al carro, a unos pasos de haber recibido su orden aún en el parking y le preguntan cuanto fue pero convenientemente no le dieron recibo le dieron el taco faltante como haciendole sentir que se lo estaban dando por qué no les quedaba otra opción no por qué se habían equivocado, afortunadamente me llegó la notificación del banco y pude aclarar el mal entendido. Yo seguiré comiendo ahí pero tendré más cuidado con lo que recibo para no pasar un mal rato por un taco.

Best carnitas ever. This is my spot for carnitas. I wouldn't go anywhere else. This has been my favorite since my childhood years. Very family oriented. Employees are friendly and always excellent with our orders. They have never messed up an order.

Carnitas are not good as the place is not open. They have a trailer with garbage carnitas on the back side of the parking. They have all carnitas in plastic bins that are warmed up in a cooking griddle inside the trailer. There was no salsa in the salsa bar for about 1/2 hour. This is a terrible experience and I don't recommend this place. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else. To post this review, I have to give one star. I'm not sure why Yelp doesn't have negative stars.

This place is so good! The portions are generous, meat flavorful, and staff friendly. The also have great salsas and aguas. Avoid rush times as it's popular and gets crowded.

I will definitely be coming back here again. Came in today with a coworker and it smelled amazing as soon as I walked in. The gentleman taking orders was nice and asked what part of the pig I wanted. I told him I just wanted Carnitas nothing else.I ordered three tacos which was a huge mistake, the tacos are massive and I could've had one maybe two and it would have been enough. Topped it with some salsa ,onions and cilantro with a cup of consommé and that's all she wrote. I will be coming back here maybe in a month or June two after I digest my first meal lol.

Still going to get these amazing Tacos every Saturday morning.. if possible Best time is before 9.. then there's No Line

Everyone always has the best carnitas and it's seems to be the case everywhere I got and I'm always disappointed will this is not the case her at Carnitas Uruapan they are by far the best Carnitas I've tasted this side of the border and let me tell you my family come from the motherland of Carnitas in Michoacán Mexico and these carnitas do live up to the hype everything was perfect from the meat to the salsa they give you to the juice I had to wash it all down this place is for sure a must stop for me check them out you won't be disappointed
