The Most Tranquil Hotels in Venice

"This 'peripheral' and heavily populated sestiere is not home to any major tourist attractions (with the exception of the evocative Ghetto), and for that reason remains slightly off the tourist trail. It has a distinctive layout, with long, parallel rii (canals) that give it a light and airy feel." - The MICHELIN Guide

We stayed at Carnival Palace Hotel in a family suite with a beautiful view of the canal. The location in the quieter part of Cannaregio is a real plus – away from the tourist flow, but still well connected. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the bathroom was also generously sized. Great setup for a family. Reception staff was friendly and helpful throughout.||Breakfast, however, didn’t quite live up to the “top” label. While the selection was okay, the scrambled eggs were a bit soggy, and boiled eggs were overcooked. The overall atmosphere at breakfast felt a bit tense – not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. For a 4-star hotel, we would have expected more attention to quality and service here.||Still, overall a good choice if you’re looking for a quiet, well-located base in Venice with solid comfort.

This hotel was absolutely beautiful. It was our first time in Italy and I am so glad our first stop was this hotel. The rooms are beautiful, the shower is amazing, beds are one of the most comfortable I’ve been in when traveling. On top of that the service is immaculate. The staff is so kind and friendly. I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough. The breakfast included is cherry on top!

Easy to get to, from train station. Location is great, away from all the hustle and bustle. Nice and quiet area but you can still walk to the busier areas. Hotel was very clean, rooms were spacious. Hotel staff were very polite, we had breakfast included and there was a lot of variety to choose from.

What a nice surprize when we arrived at carnival palace. As everyone may very well know, when you go to very touristic cities hotels are usually old, not maintained, rooms are extremly small and not very plesant. Carnival Palace is exactly the opposite. Very nice and super clean. Very stylish and rooms are very decent size. Having a very nice continental brekfast at a beautiful garden only adds to the excellent experience. The hotel is next to the canal and the boat station is only next to it. Beautiful place to stay

Google
I gave the rooms 4/5 stars as I was surprised that this 4 star hotel didn't have place to hang things for 2 guests and also the radiator was dirty. The room was VERY cold as the air con was controlled by downstairs. Also, breakfast had a fair selection of food but it wasn't the greatest :( and the hot water you receive for a hot drink wasn't even enough for two cups. Aside this, reception were welcoming and very attentive. I put my bins out to get changed and they were never returned so I had to continue my stay without bins! Felt safe - YES

Family of 4 (2 older teenage kids) had the very nice family suite! So roomy and spacious for a Venetian hotel. Was a sanctuary to come back to after walking around Venice on a very hot day !! The AC at the property was 10/10. The bathroom was also wonderful, great shower. Hotel has boat bus stop right outside to easily get you to st Marks square, it’s a bit of a long walk especially in the heat but we enjoyed the walk at night through the mysterious quiet streets ! Staff were all very nice . Hotel was spotlessly clean!

Google
Carnival Palace is definitely the place to stay while in Venice! Located about a 25-minute walk from St. Mark’s Square, this hotel offers everything you need for a comfortable and convenient stay. We only spent one night here, but it left a great impression. Be sure to include breakfast — it was absolutely delicious and a perfect way to start the day. One of the biggest advantages is the location: right next to the water taxi stop! No need to haul your luggage through Venice’s winding streets — it’s just a 30-second walk in and out. Clean, comfortable, and well-located — highly recommended. A strong five stars from

Google
Great location- private taxi dropped us right in front. It’s also just a short walk to all the main walkways/ so it maintains a sense of calm near the Hotel.|Our room( canal view) was compact but very nice. The breakfast was outstanding- and the staff were just great. Shout out to Francesca and her colleagues 😎!

Yelp
I can't say enough about the Carnival Palace and its amazing staff. It is a lovely hotel that sits on a canal in North Venice. A quiet area, close to the Tre Archi Vaporetto stop, you can easily reach THE spots you come to see in this water world. Start your morning in one of the two breakfast rooms with a vey nice buffet. Finish your day with drink at the cozy bar. I would stay at the Carnival Palace again without hesitation. 43

Yelp
Loved that this hotel had everything they advertised - A/C that actually works and room configuration that was perfect for 4 adults although the mattress could be better. The WiFi was poor. It all went downhill when I asked the front staff associate (middle aged man with dark curly hair) about hiring a porter service. I asked this man this question at check in to which he replied that I can request it at check out. 1 hour prior to our train departure, I requested a porter service and he curtly tells me that we can take the ferrovia water bus to the train station. As I am traveling with older people and due to the heat of the summer, I wanted to make sure this is doable for us to walk and carry our own luggage. I requested if we have other options and he said I can hire the porter and walk with the porter to the train station or take our belongings on our own with the water bus. Didn't feel like he wanted to be helpful and sensed some dislike. This could've been explained to me at check in regarding the porter service so that I could hire a taxi on my own beforehand. The nail in the coffin is the woman at the lobby bar being extremely rude, unprofessional, and racist. Not really one to throw the racist word around but I definitely felt it from her. We had grabbed take away bread from our morning outing and since we needed to rush back by the promised check out time, we decided to eat it in the lobby area before leaving for our train. I didn't want to leave our empty paper box the bread came in sitting on the coffee table, there were no trash bins in sight, so I asked the woman if she can discard the EMPTY PAPER BOX. She used an excuse about the city sanitation and that they cannot take the trash. We stayed in the hotel, we could've ate the same food and left the same boxes in our room. She said something about a trash bin outside the hotel -- there was none. The heat was uncomfortable from our morning excursion, and her racist attitude was so blatant, I walked away from her using such a sad excuse on me while I could hear her talking with another customer about us. Unprofessional on so many levels. To give credit where credit is due, a younger man and lady at the front desk were the only 2 hospitable staff, they were kind about taking the trash off my hands without any issue. Besides these 2, I have never visited a hotel that lacked this much hospitality. In fact, many times the hotel staff approaches to take empty water bottles off my hands when they see. If you'd like to stay at a hotel where the staff openly talks poorly of another guest due to their own issues, then this is the place. I'm also not surprised of her actions of yelling across the lobby towards me because the same curly hair man at the front desk just simply doesn't care as well. Racist is the only explanation to all of this. Like attracts like regarding management of this hotel so I didn't even bother addressing further.

Yelp
Nice quiet comfortable rooms. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. Our room had a large shower with plenty of soap, shampoo and conditioner. Nice buffet breakfast with attentive waitstaff. Only downside would be that a lot of their furnishings weren't functional. For instance, the nightstands had a table top, but no drawer or shelf. Same went for the credenza. There were small shelves above and below the refrigerator, but no closet--just exposed hangers. It was difficult to find a place to stow away our suitcases.

Yelp
Fantastic hotel in North Venice! If available, you want to request room 316- it's the only deluxe room on the top floor directly facing the canal. Also: 1) only a 7 min walk from train station (not just for trains but because so many vaporetti stop there too) 2) comfortable king size mattress! (We ran into some really uncomfortable ones elsewhere) 3) large buffet breakfast included w/room 4) very large bathroom w/ his&hers sinks, separate tub and shower 5) fast service (requesting pillows, towels, etc.) From the train station, take the 5.2 Vaporetto and you'll see the building on your right as you exit at Tre Archi

Yelp
Incredible amazing hotel and staff so welcoming and pleasant make you feel So happy the second you walk in thank you so much for making our first visit to Venice a dreamy vacation highly recommend Grazie Mille

Yelp
This place has amazing staff, interior, architecture and furniture. The views are amazing. The room was huge and beautiful. The bed, how ever, was un-sleepable. Laying down on the bed feels like laying on top of a trash pile, not sure how it could be so uneven and uncomfortable. The pillow is the worst I had over a 2 week trip with 4 star hotels in Europe. I get it is not really a king bed, but the two single beds are very evident and you can't sleep as a couple because someone is always in "the pit". This was the same case in every "king" bed we had but only here was it so horrible. Halfway through the night, after tossing and turning all night, and punching a pillow that felt like a mashed up cotton balls, I moved to the couch. That was the only way I could sleep. My husband thinks the bed was fine and this is unreasonable and would have rated it higher

Yelp
Me and my husband stayed here for our honeymoon . The hotel is really nice the rooms are kind of small but nice over all. The only issue we had is that our room smelled funny if the Ac was not on. Every time we left our room the Ac would turn off because the lights will only be on if your room key was in a slot to keep the power on. Kind of annoying but we dealt with it. The breakfast provided by the hotel is good, but it's pretty much the same thing everyday. Location I personally liked that it was away from all the hustle and tourist. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
I simply can't say enough good things about carnival palace. The hotel is located in old venice near the Jewish ghetto. In layman's terms, you're in a quiet location away from crazy tourists, but close enough to anywhere as long as you are looking to walk. Right around the corner from our hotel was a super cute park overlooking the ocean; we spent a few evenings here watching the sun go down. This area is clearly a locals spot and it was refreshing taking walks with virtually no one around. There were a few restaurants located near the hotel that were really lovely. After taking a bus into venice and having to cart our luggage over many bridges and uneven streets, we were excited to be greeted with cold towels upon arrival. Nice touch. As mentioned before, yes, they speak English. Check-in was fast and friendly, giving us a map and two complimentary glasses of prosecco (which were delicious). The rooms are absolutely gorgeous; my only complaint was the half enclosed shower which allowed plenty of water to escape and get everywhere. Quite messy. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I loved how many windows our room had. Everytime I was in the room, windows would be open; fresh air and sounds of the city. The service here was top notch, especially the bartenders. On two separate occasions they brought us snacks they thought would go well with our cocktails, and they went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Breakfast was free and plentiful, also, free mimosas! WiFi was free and very reliable. This was hands down my favorite hotel that we stayed in during our europe vacation!

Yelp
Was very fortunate to find the hotel that is not far from the hustle and bustle of the touristy spot and yet have a very calm and quiet atmosphere. Every morning the staff will have a full on buffet for guest to eat. From bottomless champagne to coffee to juices and tea. A variety of hot and cold entrees and fresh baked croissants that is to die for. Many selection of meat and cheeses. Fruits and yogurt and even cereals and oat meal for us Americans. Literally I didn't want to leave this great service and stocked buffet. Would return to stay at this hotel whenever we are back in Venice. Such friendly staff and service.

Yelp
Great hotel off the beat and path. Super friendly staff, clean rooms, good value for money. Great stay.

Yelp
Clean and modern. Front desk gave us excellent restaurant recommendations. Free wifi is SOOO convenient. I can't say enough about the bedding. So comfy and clean and new which is sometimes hard to come by in Italy. I took one star off because it is kinda out of the way. Breakfast is spectacular. Continental, eggs, hash and bacon, cold meats and cheeses. I don't drink but they had fresh squeezed orange juice and persecco every morning! This was much more than a continental breakfast.

Yelp
Today was my last day here with my family. I had a great stay here at Carnival Palace. The walls were sound proof so almost no sound could be heard. I have to give this a four because of how small the rooms were. Just a heads up. Also the room came with breakfast witch was very good.Other than the small rooms my stay was comfortable. Also some beds are couch beds for family's. Suggestions: -Make more beds with mattresses

Yelp
My friend and I stayed at this hotel in Venice. The staff were very friendly and very accommodating and all the concierge spoke English, which was comforting. The hotel/room were clean and the decor was nice. The AC worked great, and we had a delicious complimentary breakfast every morning downstairs in the breakfast room. A hidden gem in the city.

Yelp
Nice modern hotel. Must of been renovated recently. WiFi was pretty bad. Italy doesn't seem to have great WiFi anywhere but this like having dial up speeds. AC worked well and rooms were clean. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. This is about a 10 minute walk from the train station and about a 2 minute walk if taking a water taxi. Far enough from the tourist areas to have a more quiet feel. Great bar with outdoor seating. Complimentary breakfast was not great but better then nothing and it's free.

Yelp
I love the modern bathrooms in this hotel, complete with color changing light and rainfall showers, Italian marble flooring and bidet. The beds are comfy and rooms are clean. We got the continental breakfast which was included it was delicious and lots of protein for hungry tourist. So my only complaint is that it was out of the way, hence one star off. The location is near guglia stop on the water bus aliliguna, with stop very infrequently every 30 minutes. So for us we just walked everywhere instead , it was just faster that way. If walking around is not a problem, Venice is very small anyways, then this hotel is great.

Yelp
Carnival Palace is probably one of my favorite hotels so far. Carnival Palace is located along the Grand Canal in Venice, a short walk from the Water Taxi Stop and maybe a 1/2 mile from the main shopping area. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by the Front Desk Agent (in English, Thank Goodness!) and she also recommended some great places to have dinner and drinks. Our room was perfect and very clean! Free wifi and free breakfast was included in the rate. Love it! I will definitely return when I'm back in town!

Yelp
Booked carnival palace through tripadvisor recommendation. Here are the positives then why I've given them only 3 stars. Rooms were beautiful albeit almost New York small. We had a fabulous breakfast each day with thoughtful service. Quite a nice stopping point for all of our tourist activities. A few concerns. Note that the hotel is on the other side of the island from st. Marcos square and thus most of the main attractions. This makes for a very long walk. But also for a more neighborhood feeling. My main concern is that you're charged city taxes per person per night collected upon check out. As we we're rushing to catch a water boat to airport I paid in cash for the fees. Now the front desk man claims he cannot remember any cash that day and has charged my credit card the fees. Now it's only 30$ U.S. But the principle of missing cash is my concern. They did issue an invoice on leaving but have misplaced it through travel. Just be aware and don't pay for anything cash at the hotel. A disappointing end to a lovely treat of a luxury hotel stay in Venice.

Yelp
Cant recommend this place enough. Just got back from a 2 week honeymoon visiting Venice, Florence, Rome and Positano, and this was our favorite hotel. In an otherwise tourist trap of a city that Venice was, Carnival Palace was the best part about it. First, after letting the hotel know it was our honeymoon, they upgraded us for FREE to a suite. Not many places will do that. The room was brand new, clear and luxurious, with a bathroom straight out of a las vegas hotel. Couple that with the friendly staff and great breakfast, and this is the place to stay. Sure it is a bit away from the action, but it is well worth it.

Yelp
Loved the location, service and room. Breakfast was good also. They were nice enough to call water taxis and hold our bags for several hours after we checked out. Had a small mishap in the room and maintenance arrived in less than 5 minutes! Made my anniversary weekend perfect!

Wisam A.

Yelp
We stay four nights there very good location and the staff very helpful New modern rooms and the breakfast was great too Close to water bus station and about 15 min walk to train station
google avatar

Yelp
Cool design for room and lobby. Furniture, lamps, lighting ...everything has a modern chic look and feel. Clean and smells good. Location is a long but good walk for San Marco Square. Wandering the streets of Venice is the best thing anyways. Easy access by water taxi from airport, Only about 30 yards from the taxi drop offf. Good value for the reasonable room price.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice modern hotel right off the canal, we took a water taxi to get here. The front desk staff is helpful. The rooms are pretty big, a family of four can sleep comfortably. There's a big bath tub my kids love bubble baths. It's in a convenient location. It has the carnival theme.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a cute boutique hotel but the rooms are pretty small, make sure you are comfortable with your travel mate. Our room had a nice view of a canal but this is not in the main part of Venice. However, venice is pretty small so anywhere we wanted to go wasn't a terrible walk. This pat of venice is the "old" and more authentic part of Venice with more locals than tourists so it was nice to see that side of things. If you're looking for more of the picturesque part of Venice you are better off in San Marco or San Polo near the grand canal but I wouldn't mind staying here again.

Sue S.

Yelp
We recently spent 4 nights here on a tour and were very pleased. The room was spacious, clean, well-decorated, nice breakfast included and lovely garden area. Some people in our group wanted to be closer to St. Mark's, but we enjoyed the quiet, safe area, and loved the walking and exploring around it. They do need to provide a professional bartender at least after 5....desk staff tried to fill in, not successfully, and they could also provide coffee in the lobby for early risers, our only criticisms.

Hillary S.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay at this cozy boutique hotel. Service was excellent. Even though we arrived before check in time the staff made every effort to get us into our room. The bed was comfortable and the shower was excellent. We especially loved the neighborhood because it felt more genuine and was just not for tourists only. It was easy to walk to all the key tourist attractions.
google avatar

Ali C.

Yelp
Lovely decor and excellent bathroom. Power shower and modern set up, power points at both sides of bed for charging, decent tv. Breakfast also very good and ongoing to 10:30 which is a bonus.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this hotel. It was clean and comfortable. The breakfast that is included is incredible with many options. The front desk staff were very nice and accommodating. We were there unfortunately the wifi was not working but they were already working on it the next morning, meanwhile there was an Internet cafe they were providing free of charge. I would definitely stay here again
