Caro Melo Osteria

Cute little spot in Donnalucata where simple yet transformative food found his spot. All tasty plates yet heavy (clams with almonds soup is excellent but three spoon are enough per person). Good selection of natural wines by the bottle and only one selection for wine by the glass (one white and one red). The staff is nice and enjoys a quick talk with the guests. The chef engages with the guests who knows / select the tasting menu.

At the first sight the atmospere was really promising - a wild indooor garden surrounded by flowers, herbs and a boho vibe. In fact it has turned out to be a pretty hot jungle, with only 2 fans imitating some airflow in a humid summer evening. In comparison to the guest sitting by the next tables (clearly some local friends of the owner), we felt rather neglected by the staff. The lady taking our order in the middle of the conversation left us for couple of minutes to welcome some other clients with no excuse. We also waited ages to get the check. The food varied from really tasty and original parmigiano with figs to quite dissapointing risotto. They also didn't have the ingriedients needed to prepare our cocktail, what didn't stop them to serve us a drink with water instead ... Trully dissapointing evening in this charming city.

1. Almost 25% of our bill was a price for „coperto” - simply the right to seat at the table - no other restaurant here requires such ridiculous surcharge. 2. Altough outside it was maybe 24 degrees celsius in their patio it was nearly 30. We were all wet after couple of minutes. 3. I ordered gin&tonic and I got water&tonic… Waiter told me (after bringing it) that they run out of tonic and this is the same. And if I don’t like it he can add some sugar. 4. Food below average. Absolutely not worth it and completly spoiled our last family evening at lovely Sicily

We both were recommended a tasting menu and additionally had a local bottle of wine which resulted on a total of €180. The food was unique and the atmosphere cute but price value is completely off and we can sadly not recommend.

Best food I have tried in Sicily 😍

Very interesting food, accompanied by excellent wine. A real twist using local produce, totally refreshing approach. An exceptional welcome.

One of the best restaurant of sicily!! Very good food! And very authentic and special.. a lot of charme! If I could, i would give a Michelin Star
