My wife ordered combo 15 and made sure it comes with guacamole and sour cream (as pictured on the menu) The guy she was ordering with said NO it does NOT come with sour cream OR guacamole and he is “not sure what photo you are talking about ma’am” 🤦🏻‍♀️ so I just ordered a burrito with sour cream on the side. They STILL forgot the sour cream. Thank goodness I didn’t request guacamole! Had to go back, not sure these guys really care you get what you want at any time of day. They don’t even know what the menu consists of. They charge $1.63 for sour cream. Had to pay TWICE for just a single fricking side of sour cream dude. Even though II ORDERED it and paid for it once already, whatever just walked right back up into the dangerous drive-thru line twice to get this order correct. So petty. We are done and just needed food. Never going back, would rather people care a bit more, especially if I’m going to EAT it 😔 For reference, just tell your employees what comes with what 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s easy where I work. #tryoscars they tend to get it right.

Food is delicious. Service was lacking. We order 4 items and according to menu prices, it should have totalled $40. We paid with a credit card and was charged $50.50. When we asked, the elder lady working the register didn't speak much English. She said it was correct but didn't show us the itemized recept. She even asked if we still wanted our tacos because they didn't make it even though we were over charged. I advise to confirm your order before you pay or you may get overcharged.

Cooks during the day suck. Night time have better cooks. Always order carnes asada fries but in the morning or during day they give you way less meat. Night time they give you a generous amount know how to cook to perfection.

Another great Mexican restaurant. I decided to go inside this time and eat. I ordered the carne asada fries and a super burrito for later. I must say the carne asada fries was good different. I think because of the tomatoes, it became a "wet" version and I loved it (see photo). Both meals were very large and filling so the price is on par. I have to say that when I'm on Freeport Blvd and I'm craving Mexican food, I'm out of luck and you end up paying more for less.

Just went here for lunch, got a super carnival burrito and the meat is days old. So dry u can't even swallow it, damn shame I paid 20 dollars for a burrito and a fake horchata. My husband called to ask for a refund and was told I have to take the burrito back today for fresh meat or refund??? We both work and this isn't possible as we both work on other side of town. Didn't even deny the meat being old just apologized smh..... don't do it!!! And I'm pregnant :(

I found this place from a random reddit thread when I really just wanted some late night mexican food. My boyfriend and I both feel like we got diff burritos even though we ordered the same thing, HOWEVER both were really good. Not the best but definitely one of the better ones in Sac. Carne was super flavorful. Tacos were simple, cheap. Horchata was literally the perfect balance of sweetness and was so delicious. The guy at the drive through was super sweet! I don’t know why people are complaining about service. They deal with a lot of drunk people (someone threw up in front of their drive through window ahead of us) and he was still cool. Will be back!

I come here often the older lady has always been nice to me, but I haven’t seen her for a while. Food always good. The last few times I’ve been there at night. There’s a woman she’s nice, and a guy, he’s very rude, tonight was it for me! Im always respectful and even asked if my order was a problem? Mind you I’m ordering a previous order I’ve gotten a few times and it hasn’t been a problem. The way this man talks to people shows he has no respect or care for anyone. It’s really unfortunate because I love the food here but I’ll be finding a new place to go moving forward. Treat people the way you want to be treated!

I always come here for the asada fries. (Two orders)Most times they are great a very few times fries are under cooked. This time they were re cooked the cold fries into bricks literally almost broke a tooth. Very disappointing .

Located off Mack Rd with drive thru convenience! Spent $22.10 for a California super burrito and 3 rolled tacos with sour cream and cheese. Service was quick! Rolled tacos were a hit! A crunchy shell but soft in the middle. Burrito was stuffed pretty well with beef, cheese, onions, cilantro, beans, and potatoes. Took me awhile to finish it off, lol. Everything was cooked well and most importantly tasted fresh. Came with a red and green salsa. A good option if you're looking for a quick bite to eat.

The chips were stale and the cheese was not melted... I had to go home and put it in the air fryer to make it at least a bit edible because of the cold cheese. Not the best, but if desperate times comes around and I'm hungry after a night out I'd probably come back with low expectations. - opens 24 hours - lots of food for decent price - fast service

I am obsessed with their carne asada super burrito. It is so so so good and it's huge! I love to alternate the red and green sauce. The service here is also great, they are super efficient and friendly. I have only ordered through the drive through so I'm not sure how it is inside. But it seems like a casual sit-down spot.

The food portions are massive, I'm talking you'll likely have leftovers You can call ahead of time to place your order or you can order when you arrive. Their service has never disappointed and the wait isnt long roughly 10 mins Prices are also fair for the servings, they also serve beer so you can probably catch a game inside the tvs aren't massive big screens so just giving a heads up! Would be a good spot to chill with the guys but wouldn't recommend taking a girl on a first date lol Nachos feed about 2-3 people, would recommend

The Carne Asada fries at Carolinas are the BEST CARNE ASAD FRIES IN ALL OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA HANDS DOWN. I'll be that person... "if I could give 10days I would" lol Because it's true! The fries are thicker, it comes with guacamole and sour cream, topped with 2 types of cheese. Been eating here for 15+ years. Sad they closed the location in south sacramento, because nothing else compares!!!! If I were to kick it up a notch I would add pico de gallo to it (cause I like tomatoes) but other than that it's PERFECT. The asada is cooked well. No fatty pieces. The flavor is great. Thank you Carolinas! Now come back to south sacramento or Elk Grove area! Haha

I was a long time loyal customer, I have been eating here for forever since I was seven, for twenty six years. I even continued to eat here after the infamous cockroach burrito incident. My family, as a kid loved this place. My wife's family loved this place and has a similar story. I noticed after the incident, a certain disdain towards the costumers, the food was still passable but not always as good as it used to be. At times the burrito portions would be bad or more frequently the meat was on one half and not the other, Same story with the guacamole and sour cream. I could tell they cared less than before ever since the incident. I always hoped they would return to their former glory and I continued to frequent this late night institution semi-regularly. Until this last time, I ordered three burritos and a horchata, I took the food home, at the end of the burrito, I was having a refreshing drink of the rice beverage, until I got a whiff, a whiff of anus apparently the smell was coming from the lid of my beverage, so to my despair I sniff the lid further and realize the woman who placed the lid, to my despair, may have also scratched her anus. Never again will I come here for food, I have better things to do than to smell a middle aged cashiers anus on the lid of my beverage.

I've had their burritos a few times in the drive thru which I don't recall being bad. I've had their combo plates two times now and each time I was disappointed. There is zero flavor in the food. The beans are bland. The rice is okay. My taco had a hard shell, iceberg lettuce, a few cheese flakes, and steak that had zero flavor. My tostada had a flavorless tostada shell, the same flavorless beans, iceberg lettuce, and the same cheese flakes as the taco. I could've spent $7 less at a fast food joint or gone to another place and gotten a flavorful meal.

I ordered a burrito w/ bacon, eggs, potato and cheese. It was good until I got to the black curly hair in the middle of it. Mind you it was not my hair. Might be a good idea to wear hairnets in the kitchen.

Great fresh crispy tacos and of course a cheese quesadilla, a bit pricey, but delicious!

Listen! I've been eating here since I was a baby! I ordered the California Breakfast Burrito. Excellent food, and savory taste. No complaints ever. I appreciate everyone who works hard to run this spectacular business. Amazing food, super cool customer service, and overall a 10.

Hands down the best Mexican food on this planet every time we come here the workers are so nice and caring they go above and beyond we come here at least once a week and will always come back anything we get on the menu is always amazing and freshly made

Food is garbage. I always order super nachos with steak meat and their meat is not good. When I do decide to go back and give them another try, it's always a disappointment. Adalbertacos is way better or El Forestero.

At 2:45 am what's open besides jack in the box? Carolinas I literally looked through all these reviews to make sure they was decent enough besides fast food and my oh my ZERO FLAVOR like none at all boiled chicken no flavor steak taste boil too the fries didn't have salt this was post to be a Asada fries so I added chicken just in case and boom FLAVORLESS MEAT PLATTER and my girl said that smell like tuna wasted 16 bucks ........

I tried this place for a second time the burrito was 0K (not great) for 15$. I asked for salsa and the woman rolled her eyes I told her I would pay extra for it. The green salsa is definitely water down no napkins in the bag and I was eating on the go I asked for lettuce and tomato they didn't put any in the burrito it's not worth the money to get a below average burrito I'm sure there's many Taqueria's In Sacramento that provide way better quality and service I would pass on this place

Great Mexican food! Gets busy at night around 1:30am on the weekends. Basic fast food settings inside.

Decided to try this place out after a night out. The drive through took a while to keep moving as they were insanely busy late at night. I ordered the carne asada fried and I instantly noticed how much food was on the plate! Definitely a lot of it. The carne asada was pretty good; however, I wished there was more flavor added to the plate. Overall, I will say it is one of the better options for a late night eating situation. I would recommend!

Been here countless times but I'll NEVER be back after this morning. Service is straight trash. I work overnight, and by the time I get off at 3:30 am it's hardly anything open. Drove out my way specifically because this place is 24 hours got to the drive thru at 3:48am, said hello multiple times at the speaker no answer. I pull forward to the window and notice it's a sign that says 30 minute lunch break. By now it's like 3:55am and I'm like alright I'll just go to the gas station until 4 bc they'll likely be off break by then if I got her at 3:48 and they were on break already. I circle back at 4:05 still no response, but I hear noise coming from inside. Someone opens the back door to toss out what I assume was mop water so I pull forward to the window again thinking wtf. I'm tryna be patient bc it's not much open anyway and I'm starving, 5 minutes later a middle aged grown a*s man finally walks out, walks towards the window and instead of opening it holds up the break sign with an attitude which I now see has a time on it....4:00am to 4:30am. So why tf when I pulled up at 3:45 could I not get any service. I even tried explaining through the window he refused to open that I had been waiting since before 4:00 am. Wasted damn near 30 minutes of my time bc some mf wants to be inside hiding instead of doing their job. The shit is pathetic and bro should be fired grown a*s adult playing kid games at work.

Amazing, I go here whenever I am in the area and need to refuel. The carne asada is excellent

I wish I could give negative stars!!! I drive here 15-20 from Elk Grove just to buy their burritos and carne asada fries. I have been a loyal customer here for nearly 20 years. I frequent this restaurant on a weekly basis and spend good money for just a few items. All I asked for was "a couple more green sauce" and was told that he would charge me for the extra sauce. He barely gave me any sauce to begin with. I spent $41 for 2 burritos and a Carne Asada Fries. Do you seriously think 7 tiny little cups of sauce is enough for all my food? I tried to reason with them but they just gave me a bunch of BS. At that point I knew it was a losing fight. I told them this would be the last time I would ever come here and they didn't seem to have a care in the world. All they said was "have a good day" with a sarcastic attitude. Is "a couple sauces" really worth losing a 20 year customer? They'd better change their attitudes or else they will be out of business soon. They have already lost mine.

I went there a few times. Food are not consistent. I took one bite of my burrito and throw the rest in the trash. The steak taste like cardboard. The green sauce was water down.

Love how they are open 24 hours for late night snacks. We ordered the carne asada fries with bacon and thought the portions were big and had fast service. Definitely add the hot sauce for more flavor and spice. The price is pretty good too.

The employees are so nice here. I really appreciate them and that this place is open 24 hours. As someone who works late it's so nice to have a place to get something to eat. I love all the food here. They have a really good Chile relleno, and really good carne asada fries. And great tacos.

I ordered 5 rolled tacos with a side of enchilada sauce and this is what I got... after a certain time of the night the quality of the service goes way down. Don't go after 12 midnight, they don't care and they don't answer the phone after they fuck your food up.

Pretty average spot. I had 3 carne asada tacos and they did smell a little off. Taste was good tho and the salsa was a good level of heat. Probably the best restaurant available if you're hungry at 3am

Let me just say I used to love this place but lately it's been gross.. Ordered asada super nachos & cheese wasn't even melted all the way!! Nachos were cold and asada was cold as well. Way too long of a wait in line for this gross food. Don't waste your time, & go somewhere else. It's also very expensive & not even worth it.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Sacramento! Talk about value and price per dollar, This is my go to place for an amazing breakfast burrito, I always order with machata meat which I believe is both shredded lean shredded beef and pork, oh my Lord! There is so much meat and eggs and protein in this burrito it's ridiculous! Great serivce, friendly smiles and excellent service, I must confess - I'm addicted! I go Here 3x a week and they never fail me! To the staff and management at Carolinas on franklin, thank you for all the delicious food you guys cook and thank you for being here and serving us real authentic and homecooked meals, and for being an amazing part of our community, I'm so glad I found you guys, you got a customer for life here!!!!

Good Drive Thru food ... can't go wrong with a Taco or Burrito here. The meat is safe and not heavily seasoned ... so you have to add the flavor with salsa ... nicely done

If you wanna pay over 20$ for a quesadilla that's swimming in grease and some of the most disgusting tortilla chips I've EVER had then this is the place for you! Now I see why their open late cus after midnight folks will literally eat anything!

My son is still weak from his Order # 000316, July 19, 2022. He is threatening to call the Health Department because he was ill all night. He stated the people there looked new and the food stations arrangement looked different. He figures that maybe some foods were left on trays over 4 hours.

Double charged me on my debit card. I paid for one item but it said on on account that its 2 transactions. I had to call support on my card to negate the other transactions. Sorry Carolina, not sure if you're trying too rip people off but it's the last time I'll eat there. Please go to Taco exxpress or bravos taco, better quality and customer service.

A little bland, but good for drive thru food. The drive thru is a pain in the butt to get through because there's a large hill.

I ordered a Machaca & Eggs plate (Listed $9.75) and a Large Diet Coke (Listed $2.85) and my ticket came out to $19??? Pretty upset about that. Either I got ripped off, or I got ripped off because there's no way tax would be $6? Like, what? Anyways, not happy and I'll take a second thought before I come back. Unfortunate because I get breakfast from here a lot.

This is the perfect place if you're hungry and want something filling. Their number 21 breakfast burrito is my go-to. The food is good, but they don't use a lot of spices to give flavor. They also have a new guy who has been working the drive-thru, and he is very nice. All the employees here are nice.

this is my literal ride or die place. like fr it's always delicious and always hits. my fav things to get are the bean and cheese burrito and the carnitas tacos add crema and cheese. literally never lets me down.

Terrible food, found an exaggerated amount of hair in our food not just in one dish, there was a ball of hair all curled up on my sons taco meat. I never leave reviews but this amount of hair was just to much, i do not recommend this place at all. And believe me when I tell you this is not an exaggeration

According to FOX40 as of 8/21/18: "SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento County health inspectors have closed the popular Carolina's Mexican Food on Franklin Boulevard after mouse droppings and dozens of cockroaches were found in the kitchen. The county's report was filed Tuesday afternoon" :(

I mean I usually go to the one on valley high but now I might not even go to that one. This location was shut down for roaches/rats I mean if owners know they have a problem with infestation save yourselves the embarrassment and shut it down to clean it spray whatever it takes, dont just let your customers continue to buy roach burritos damn it!!!

Don't recommend got the 3 street taco combo and the I was only able to eat the tacos rice and beans weren't good at all also the limes were dry so thankfully I had some at home

Terrible breakfast burrito selections. My burrito was runny and leaked all over. Three cheese was ALL located at one end of the burrito. This provided several bites of cheese and tortilla. Carolina's Mexican Food nickels and dimes you for everything. If you want some pico de gallo on your burrito, that's an extra $1.50. Customer service, non-existent. I witnessed my cashier, Roberta, carrying a trash bag, presumably out to the trash bin, and then bringing my food to me without washing her hands. Go somewhere else if you can, if you can't, buyer beware.

Ordered for pick up. Food is great as usual. The taco bowl, I think that's the right name? It is so crispy I couldn't stop eating. A bit too salty towards half way, but overall I really enjoyed it. I'd come back again in the future.

This is a establishment that does not follow an order. I asked specifically how to make a burrito and I've have been disappointed me more then once. I thought this place really was a part of oak park that could offer services that would keep people happy and satisfied with their food 24 hours a day. It's the communication of how I asked for something and repeatedly asking for what I paid for!
