"South Carolinian Caroline Ragsdale Reutter served her first caramel cake in 1982, and since then, Caroline’s Cakes have become a staple of celebrations in the South and beyond. Based out of Spartanburg, South Carolina, the bakery ships giant confections straight to your door. The famous seven-layer caramel cake is just the beginning — they also make flavors like sweet potato (an Oprah favorite), chocolate peppermint, coconut cloud, and more." - Erin Perkins

Ordered 2 cakes from this shop because I wasn’t finding what I wanted locally. Cakes arrived after 1 business day, frozen and expertly packed. We thawed one and saved the second for a party next week. In all seriousness, one of the best cakes I’ve ever had. It reminds me of a cake shop from my childhood where my birthday cakes always came from. I hope they never change the way they do things at Caroline’s! I’ll be sure to stop in the physical shop if I pass through!

I ordered the pink champagne cake for a birthday. The shipping is fast and exquisite! Every measure is taken to make sure your cake arrives in tact and ready to serve once it has been thawed out. The cake arrives frozen on dry ice. Maybe it’s just me but the actual flavor of the cake did not deliver. It tasted like a glorified strawberry box cake. I didn’t detect any notes of champagne on my palate. My family also agreed that the champagne notes are non-existent. The icing was the same flavor experience: just a super sweet vanilla with a hint of strawberry. The texture of the cake was a little on the dry side and the icing could use less sugar. Overall, it was a fun experience to order a cake online but I would not order again. It wasn’t worth $60 and after everyone ate their taste test slice, the rest of the cake went in the trash. I submitted a review on the website but I guess the reviews are filtered there. That would explain why there are only four reviews for this cake and they are all positive. Update: We decided to give it another whirl by ordering a more traditional flavor for the holidays but it turns out that the red velvet was greasy, mushy and unappetizing as well. We gave it a fair shake.

Happy customer since 2016. Caroline's Cakes makes an amazing product and is my go to place for my birthday cake every year. The 7 Layer Caramel Cake is so delicious and loved by everyone I have shared my cake with. One year we tried the cake bites which are a perfect hand held solution. This year I was craving the 7 Layer Coconut Cloud cake so I got the half cake mix so we could also enjoy the 7 Layer Caramel as well. The ship really quick and packing was perfect. Thank you Caroline's for making it another awesome birthday.

I stopped in and purchased 6 cupcakes. They were reasonably priced (19.26) they were jumbo sized (in my opinion). The red velvet and apple/cinnamon were the best! Both were moist and the frosting was perfect. The chocolate was my least favorite, it was heavily iced and tasted like a dark chocolate. The caramel was good, but too sweet for my liking. The vanilla icing was overly powerful on tasting like butter and even felt a little greasy. All of the cake parts of the cupcakes were excellent. I just wasn’t a huge fan of some of the frostings. The store was clean and the sales person was very pleasant. I will visit again!8

Based on an enthusiastic recommendation, I placed my first orders, both holiday gifts, nothing coming to me. Caramel Cake ($103 total) is receiving a muted response from 2 cake lovers, though they politely said it's "good". In addition, the packaging and dry ice, thawing and re-freezing are a bit cumbersome for older but fairly able-bodied shut-ins. Cheese biscuits which went to another house are said to be very good. However, it was clear with the order that these were both gifts, yet there was no way for my recipients to tell who sent them. Ordering was complicated (3 websites, some with slightly different offerings) and when I emailed Customer Service with 2 specific questions, R.R. replied in about 10 words, with 3 exclamation points, no concrete response, just something like "buy again and enjoy". I will pass on re-ordering and would also comment that while buying the Route insurance makes sense this proved a nuisance. Added to the many duplicate emails from C.C. (two identical ones each time you messaged, each order) were something like 6 or 7 emails from UPS. One from UPS even said my delivery was expected that same day, when the body of the msg. said the item hadn't yet been shipped. (Turns out, it had not.) Then I was offered a chance to watch GPS live while UPS traveled the final 5 min. to one delivery. Ludicrous. These gifts turned into a fair amount of work for me with minimal positive result. Gifts are supposed to be wonderful!

Stopped by the retail store while in Spartanburg. Slices are $6 each. Got the 7-layer caramel & Montana gold. Both were really good! Will stop by again to try the Coconut cloud. Grab a fresh slice and feed your cake craving.

Google
I was really disappointed in the service. I ordered a cake to be shipped on a certain date & it shipped 2 days earlier. I wrote a nice note (it was a gift) to be included with the cake, it was not there. The recipient's did not know who the cake was from. Really sad considering the cost of the product & shipping.

Received a Caramel Cake as a Xmas gift...Bleah, way too much icing, way too little cake. Hade a coconut version the night before. It was delicious.

Yelp
I had the absolute pleasure of trying Caroline's Cakes Bites ...just the perfect little cake bite with a nice light flavor of lemon. What an adorable little box these little bites of lemon were displayed in ! Absolutely adored the packaging and especially those sweet lemony cake bites ! A special thank you to The Local Palate for the opportunity to try these and other local goodies !

Yelp
Help me out here. Shipping for pimento cheese 2 pack is the same price as the cheese itself? $20 for the cheese and $20 for shipping. What a scam. I was going to send 5 of these out for Christmas, so a $100 order would have cost me $200. That is crazy! I sent them an email a few days ago and it was never answered. I will be choosing a different gift for the holiday..

Yelp
My family has read some of the previous reviews and we were (and still are), absolutely HORRIFIED at some of them. YES, a SEVEN LAYER CAKE will have "THIN" layers. What did these "reviewers" expect- a 2' tall cake? Good grief! Clearly they have never baked anything in their lives. And the further ignorant people who commented about the frosting being "gritty". HELLO? Are you AWARE that CARAMEL is made from SUGAR? And the coup de grâce! The "reviewer that felt she was ENTITLED to leave a lower star review because she EXPECTED A DISCOUNT from this family-owned bakery.....(because she "bought from them before?"). WOW. "ENTITLED MUCH"??? So Caroline's should not be able to PAY their employees, pay their lease/rent/mortgage, and also pay top dollar for their exquisite ingredients, because this "reviewer" is an entitled LEECH? Why does this bakery owe this "reviewer" ANYTHING? What ridiculous ABUSE Caroline's has been dealt! And we are so sorry there are SO MANY ignorant people who know NOTHING about baking, never mind feeling that Caroline's OWE them some sort of CHARITY for merely having bought something from them before. Talk about "ugly Americans!" These reviewers are the VERY DEFINITION of ignorant and abusive (and hopefully FORMER!) customers. Bless Caroline's! WE shall be return customers - MANY TIMES OVER! And we apologize to Caroline's for the shocking ignorance of these others. We hope that these "reviewers" will confine themselves in the future to return to their habits of buying EXPIRED packaged goods which contain preservatives, artificial flavors, and artificial colors. These reviewers have clearly demonstrated that they prefer items from the discounted (discarded) section of the grocery store.

Yelp
Sadly, holiday peppermint cake tasted very salty. Something was definitely not right. They were quick to reach out but offering 20% off my next order is not, imho, effective service recovery. I had a bad experience and I don't want to risk spending money to try another cake, so this is an empty gesture. Most vendors would offer something back on the dissatisfying experience that the customer already had. Oh well. I should have stuck with We Take the Cake.

Jessica Z.

Yelp
THESE CAKES! Truly so delicious, you must try for yourself. My cousin has a severe peanut allergy, so we often order cakes from Caroline's Cakes for family events. Most recently we ordered the 7 Layer Caramel Cake and the Coconut Raspberry Cake for a graduation party. Both were incredible, but I must say - the caramel cake was a show stopper. I had to sneak in and take a picture of it before every single piece was eaten. I've never been to a party where the guests ate the entire cake, but this cake went so fast - it was unbelievable. I'm impressed with how well the cakes are shipped, and how delicious they are once they're thawed out. The cake tasted so fresh! We found this bakery specifically because of my cousin's peanut allergy, but these have become some of my most favorite cakes for any occasion!

Yelp
3/12/21 As a kid, my mom and dad on occasion like Thanksgiving, birthdays, Christmas or special occasions,  my mom ordered a Caroline's Cake for the household. The Seven Layered Carmel Cake is still a hit with me and apparently my dad as well.  When I got married the only type of wedding cakes were going to be from Caroline's Cakes. It was the only thing in the wedding that I got control of. Every other cake place we checked out just did not compare to the seven layer cake.  What can I say? Caroline just stays with you. I have met  once at her store. Mrs. Caroline and she hasn't  aged a day from a picture I saw of her. In face when I saw her, she was sitting in a chair in almost the exact position as the picture I saw of her.   What are the odds of that happening? I don't  know, but meeting Caroline was a pleasure.  I did go visiting the old location of Caroline's Cakes, but it just wasn't the same. I met a lady there who apparently took over the business there that said she could make the seven layer cake if this is what we wanted.  We thought about that but declined. There some thing about Caroline's name not being on the product that was off putting.  I think about the Micro Machine slogan in 1987 and it rights true with me as it does for the Caroline's Cakes I love. "Remember if it doesn't say Micro Machines, it's not the real thing!" I will be ordering a Caroline's Cake this year even if it spikes my blood sugar up high...yes I am a diabetic, but the cake is so good.   *Hey, is there a way Caroline's Cakes could make Diabetic version of the seven layer cakes?* This would stop the husbands or wives from worrying about the about their partners blood sugar spiking up.  Just a thought Caroline. I keep thinking about the what frosting cake with the caramel in the Center (special order cake) was the only cake that survived the wedding party.  Barly survived is more like it. There were two slices leftover after the party was over. Those slices of cake lasted about a month because my wife hide them from me.  They tasted even better when she let me have them.

Yelp
I was sent a Carolina Yule Log and it is absolutely the worst cake I have ever tasted. I never could figure out what the flavor is and the cake is absolutely tasteless. We threw the cake in the garbage it was so bad. It literally was $100.00 thrown away.

Lee G.

Yelp
Great cake and even though the box arrived smashed on one corner, the cake survived unharmed!

Jackie P.

Yelp
While I live 800 miles away and have never actually BEEN to Caroline's Cakes, I am pleased to say the cakes are incredibly delicious. Crazy that I happened upon them because I won a free Sweet Potato Cake from the list of Oprah's Favorite Things on the Rachael Ray Show. I called to place my order for Thanksgiving (I'm sure an extremely hectic time for them), and they could not have been more pleasant. Here I was, ordering something that I wasn't even paying for, and the woman on the phone was offering a congratulations and some Southern Charm. The cake arrived frozen, and we took it out Thanksgiving morning and served it up that afternoon. It was incredibly moist, and simply delicious. Three days later, it was just as good. We do enjoyed it that we ordered their Pink Champagne cake for Mother's Day. I think I even loved that cake more. Light, delicate, and just the right amount of flavor. Even my fussiest child fell in love. I will be ordering again, and again. If I happen down to Spartanburg, Caroline's will be a must stop! If y'all are in the area with friends or family, I'd suggest you "Let them eat cake" at Caroline's Cakes.

Yelp
Here is an update to my list 6 mths ago. I always say that it's the customer service that comes with the business as to whether or not I will give them another try should I have a bad product or service. Caroline's cakes immediately reached out to me after my first review of their seven layer caramel cake. The cake certainly was not to the liking of my families taste buds but they gave me an opportunity to try another cake for free. We tried to seven layer coconut cloud cake. This coconut cake was like none that I've ever had before. Light, fluffy, flavorful just right is sweetness. I'm so glad that they gave me the opportunity to try another cake I will certainly be re-ordering their coconut cake again.

Tammy L.

Yelp
I was so excited to finally get to try the caramel cake from Caroline's. I stopped by the shop on my way home coming through Spartanburg. The environment is amazing so I decided to eat my piece of cake there. I was SO disappointed. The cake was so dry I needed water to get it down. The icing was just average and was grainy like it hadn't been cooked long enough. I said something to the cashier, and she said "oh you need to let it come to room temperature". So I bought another piece to take home. Needless to say bringing it to room temperature did not help. I was so bummed because caramel is my favorite, and I was planning to purchase for all of our upcoming holidays and birthdays. I will need to stay on my journey to find a good caramel cake.

Ralph T.

Yelp
Cakes did NOT measure up to the hype. The caramel layer cake was horrible. They lost me on the first bite.

Allie A.

Yelp
We were lucky enough to be the recipient of not one, not two, but three of the amazing red velvet cakes, delivered to us in a well-packed box. Still ice cold and fresh tasting after being driven up from North Carolina (long story). These cakes are amazing. You can TASTE the butter in the butter cream frosting. The color of the cake is a beautiful pop of red and the cake itself is moist and full of flavor. It doesn't taste processed at all. We are told that they hold up really well if god forbid, there are leftovers. If you can't finish the cake in one go, wrap it up again in saran wrap, stick back in the tin, and throw back in the freezer to defrost for the next time. We will be hoarding the cakes for VERY special occasions.

Nora K.

Yelp
I brought the Caramel cake to a birthday party. No one liked it. They said it was cloyingly sweet. Do you a sell a cake that isn't as sweet?

Marsia D.

Yelp
My cake bites arrived quickly and were delicious! Very cute packaging. Definitely recommend the caramel & pink champagne flavors.

Hannah H.

Yelp
I first heard about Caroline's Cakes when I was at a food expo in DC. I am totally obsessed with their Low Country Dip - this is their famous, original South Carolina-orginated dip that is a blend of mayonnaise, curry, and secret spices. It's very creamy and savory, and tastes like a spruced up mustard/mayo combination. The best way to eat this (in my opinion) is to have it with pretzel sticks. It really does dress up that pretzel quite well! These comes in a 16oz jar and sets you back about $7.50 - great for gifting for the holidays or when you host a little get-together! Check them out! :D +Low Country Dip :D

Ceci G.

Yelp
The cakes are good, everyone agrees! Plenty of testament to that in reviews. The service and communication is superb. A feature often missing these days. Will be a return customer!

Mel T.

Yelp
Best caramel cake my family and I have ever had! Oprah sure picked a winner! We live in CA and have ordered this cake for thanksgivings and birthdays and it's never disappointed anyone! We even ordered it during the 1st month of COVID and it was a well needed sweet treat for everyone. I've read some yelp reviews from people that didn't enjoy the texture or the sweetness of the cake. If that's the case, try it with a glass of milk or with a side of vanilla ice cream and it could possibly change your mind. All I know is if you haven't tried this before, you're missing out.

Esther D.

Yelp
I got one of these cakes as a birthday surprise from my son who lives in another state. The cake was recommended by a co-worker who raved about the caramel cake.. My son ordered a half caramel and half chocolate cake. The cake came well packaged, half frozen and packed with a small piece of dry ice. The package included a paper cake stand, birthday candles that spelled "Happy Birthday" and a bag of sprinkles. The cake itself came in a attractive round cake tin. The cake halves inside were wrapped in plastic wrap, there was a plastic barrier separation to two cake halves. Suffice it to say that they took really good care in packaging the cake. The chocolate cake was very good, a little dry but tasty. The caramel cake smelled more like maple syrup. It tastes very strongly to me of maple syrup. The yellow cake was dry and coming away from the frosting. It is VERY sweet. I did not enjoy this part of my cake. It is unfortunate as I know these cakes are pricy. I wish my son had sent me a whole chocolate. I will try not to hurt my son's feelings by requesting that he never send me one of these cakes again. I don't think even the chocolate cake is worth the price.

Cindy N.

Yelp
I just don't understand the glowing reviews. If it wasn't for the superior packaging I wouldn't have give this cake even 2 stars. I ordered the "Over the Rainbow Cake" for Mother's Day. We served it today, and what a disappointment when I cut it! The cake looks absolutely nothing like all the beautiful photos. Supposedly, this is a 7 layer lemon cake with each layer filled with a different colored, different fruit flavored filling. The filling is so thin, you can't even taste the different flavors! Each layer of filling is less than 1/8 inch thick. The cake does not taste bad, but it is just a fairly dry, artificially flavored lemon cake with little pinstripes of color between the layers. For $60.00 I could have bought a much better cake in my city. I won't be ordering from here again.

Art H.

Yelp
This time I ordered a cake, make that two cakes... 1/2 caramel and 1/2 chocolate; both were delicious and brought back memories of mom's and grandma's cakes. I'm a sucker for both cakes but caramel is my kryptonite and this one brought me to my knees. OMG! As I've said before, there is no other on-line vendor who packages their products like Caroline's; in fact, no one else holds a candle, simply perfection. Don't wait! Order a cake or some barbecue, or both; Caroline's rocks!

E M.

Yelp
After a difficulty with the first cake sent, a bit back, to the west coast , ( not sure it was the fault of Caroline's) they sent me another in July of 2020 . It was SUPERB . The only problem was we ran out of cake after several days . We were intro-ed to Caroline's with a gift cake for our 50th anniversary when they were in MD. PS. this thank you is way over due .

B J.

Yelp
Ordered a cake through goldbbelly- got The caramel since it was an Oprah favorite- too crunchy.. tasted like I was eating rock sugar ... I prefer soft caramel...wonder if something was wrong with mine, now that I think about it... nothing in the ad said anything about crunchy frosting...I would like to try some other flavors but not willing to risk disappointment for the price... I will say that they did a good job with shipping- have a lovely souvenir tin.

Mary P.

Yelp
I was looking forward to receiving this cake because I had heard and seen such good reviews but I was sadly disappointed. I got the caramel cake and first off the ratio of icing to cake is way off. You can't even taste the the cake and what was there was very dry. The icing was gritty with sugar and overpowered the whole cake. I don't normally leave reviews but I know the price tag on this cake was not cheap so I felt compelled to alert other shoppers. Bottom line, don't waste your money!

Lola F.

Yelp
Caramel cake was delivered wrap very nicely and in a timely matter very moist, easy transaction

Jovahnka M.

Yelp
I will start my review with this.....DO NOT BUY A 7 LAYER CARAMEL CAKE FROM HERE....or any other cake for that matter. I am highly disappointed. The photos from another review that had pieces of dry pulled apart cake are accurate. I bought a cake anyway after I seen and read that review thinking it was a one time thing. But no, my cake was awful. I bought the cake for my wedding anniversary as our usual shop is closed. I waited for it to thaw for 4 hours per instructions. Cake is hard to cut. Cake frosting is thick and gritty. The frosting is overwhelmingly sweet. The frosting separates from the cake easily. The cake is dry as hell. I do believe the cake is one of two things...old or the person making the cake has no baking skills. I cut one piece off of cake and could not finish it. Sadly, its going in trash. For the exuberant amount of money this place charges for a horrible cake....you are better off going to a local grocery store for a fraction of the price and better quality.

Lori C.

Yelp
I ordered a cake after this business was featured on Good Morning America's Deals and Steals. The show was trying to help businesses that were being affected by the pandemic. I was given the date 4/29 and I believed that was the arrival date. Well, the day came and went. Ok, maybe I misunderstood and that was the shipping date. Now it is May 2 and still no cake. Where's my cake and will it be fresh when it arrives?? Update - May 8 My cake was delayed, but did finally arrive a couple of days ago. It was beautifully wrapped and packed in dry ice to keep it frozen. As soon as it thawed I couldn't wait to have a slice. It tasted delicious! I gave four stars instead of five because I feel that I should have been notified about the shipping delay.

Rebecca B.

Yelp
I ordered a caramel cake last month after trying the very moist pink champagne cake (quality but I prefer a different flavor). The caramel/flavor was amazing but the cake texture was dry and grainy and they were so nice and sent me a new one. It had unfortunately the same texture...dry, firm, the texture of cornbread. Like it was over baked or over mixed. They refunded, it was on Thanksgiving. I then tried the hot cocoa cake which is very fresh and moist (but again flavor not for me.) I really loved the flavor of the caramel one and felt like it could be amazing with the moist cake layers that I have read about in reviews. I decided to try one more time thinking if the texture is the same then that's just what it is. This time paid $80 through goldbelly. Well this one came and is 100 times worse. The cake didn't look as grainy as the others but when I bit into it, it was 100 times drier than the first ones... so dry I had trouble trouble swallowing it. Literally like chalk. It also had a slightly "charred" aftertaste. When I peeled the layers apart the cake looked really well done, pretty much burned. I don't think cakes are supposed to be this well done..and I feel like in the pictures you can even see how intensely dry it is. Maybe the first two were just a texture I am not used to because they were great compared to this one. The stars are for exceptional customer service and good caramel. I feel bad complaining again...but this one was seriously screwed up..you can't send people burnt cakes like this for $80!!

Amber T.

Yelp
My husband ordered the rainbow cake through Gold Belly (online food service) for my birthday. The cake arrived in near perfect condition, with only one small crack in the top. The packaging was more than adequate, it arrived wrapped in a festive wrapping that was inside of a branded tin. I really was surprised, the colors were more vibrant than expected but did not taste like pigment/dye. The lemon was the prevalent flavor but it was delicious and did not taste artificial. I was missing some of the noted flavors of each layer, but altogether everything worked well. The cake is frosted with a lemon meringue buttercream, it is firm but light. I much prefer it to American buttercream for this cake, it works better for shipping, keeps the cake moist, and the texture is great. I love the ratio of frosting to thin layers also; you get a thin layer of frosting between each thin layer of cake. This cake was a treat and worth the splurge.

Pam L.

Yelp
I ordered the caramel cake from GMA's Deals for a special birthday of mine. I am a baker so I am very particular about cakes, but with the shelter in place I thought it would be nice to order a cake. I have baked a caramel cake before and this is not a real southern caramel cake. The icing was crystallized and so sweet and the cake was so dry that we could not eat it. I will be throwing away the rest of the cake! I don't know why Oprah would have this cake as one of her favorites! I was so disappointed that we didn't have a delicious dessert to end a special dinner.

Bob B.

Yelp
Got the caramel cake for a birthday gift and it was too sweet. Waste of money. The cake part was very dry and not moist at all. Couldn't eat it And way over priced. When we called about it they apologized and offered 1/2 off another style so 90$ for first and 50$ for second. 140$ for two cakes. Customer service 5 stars. Cakes 2.

Greg H.

Yelp
Was just a drive-by spur of the moment cake pickup, but was an AWESOME cake for birthday celebration.

Alicia J.

Yelp
The cake was dry and flavorless. The icing tasted like crisco. There was no flavor. We got the vanilla birthday cake and it tasted like it came out of the freezer. For 60 dollars a cake I expected a whole lot more. No one at the party ate the cake. It was very disappointing.

Connor S.

Yelp
Very disappointed. Ordered through Goldbelly, the 7 layer GF Carmel cake for my son who was unable to come home for Thanksgiving due to Covid. I put the order in on 22 Nov and paid $105 for the cake with expedited shipping and today 30 Nov still no cake or call back from Caroline's Cake. The UPS tracking only states "label made" to this day. I order through Goldbelly frequently and have never had this problem in the past.

Christy B.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this business, from customer service to the actual delicious cakes. I heard about Caroline's Cakes through a non-profit that supports ovarian cancer survivors. Caroline's Cakes was doing a month long fundraiser for ovarian cancer, featuring their caramel cake. I emailed them asking if I could choose another flavor and they were so gracious, allowing me to choose any flavor I wanted and still get the special tin and have my purchase support the fundraiser. I chose half caramel and half yellow cake with chocolate frosting and filling. They were both beyond delicious! They arrived fresh and moist and were exactly on time. Both cakes were soft and moist with an amazing texture -easily the highest quality cakes that I've ever eaten. The frosting is also high quality and the frosting/cake ratio is perfect. The chocolate frosting and filling is more of a dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. The caramel cake is intensely sweet and rich. A small piece will satisfy you...for about an hour when you will start craving another piece! Both cakes taste like they were made with only high quality, natural ingredients. The instructions on how to serve and freeze are impeccable. We loved our cakes too much to have leftovers to freeze! The special tin (teal and white for the ovarian cancer fundraiser) is really cute. Thank you, Caroline's Cakes, for making my birthday special and for supporting ovarian cancer survivors! I will be a repeat customer.

Yelp
Take Two: I received an email from Laura Strawberry to call her. I explained the situation with the cake and she was very apologetic. She said she would refund the cake amount and wanted me to order another cake. I ordered the coconut cake and it was divine! I would definitely recommend. I was very impressed with the customer service I received and will order again. Thank you Caroline's Cakes!

Julia Y.

Yelp
I received a call from Caroline's Cakes where we discussed my experience. They listened, were gracious, very open to feedback, and insisted that they make my experience right by sending me another cake to try. Received their caramel cake, let it sit out for 2.5 hours - and let me tell you that was a long 2.5 hours because the cake looked and smelled divine. I cut into it and had a completely different experience from the strawberry cake. The caramel was everything you would want caramel to be, the sponge was a great texture, nice even bake, very nice even layers. Truly, this cake is scrummy. I've been cutting slices all week long and returning the rest of the cake to the freezer, and each time the cake has been a delight. Once again the cake was beautifully packaged with a lot of TLC, clear instructions, shipping was a breeze. I'm sorry the strawberry cake freaked me out - but I can definitely recommend the caramel cake and Caroline's team. They are kind, sweet and really stand by their product. Will be purchasing again!

Yelp
For years now, the arrival of the annual Caroline's Cake is much anticipated. The cakes always arrive on time, are well packaged with dry ice, and arrive well-kept in their iconic aluminum container. No matter the cake, they are moist, have ample icing, and are delicious. Their classic layered caramel cake is always a hit. The deviation from traditional cake flavors resulted in a cake you won't find elsewhere, and which will leave you craving more. Likewise, the red velvet is not the knockoff chocolate cake with red dye you find most places. This is a legitimate red velvet with cream cheese icing. This was also an instant hit, even with the pickiest of red velvet cake connoisseurs. While not the Paula Dean version of this classic southern favorite, it is still a must try. Their carrot cake was also delectable. Every cake has been moist, well frosted, and arrived in perfect condition. To top it off, the cakes can be frozen for up to six months; extending the time you have to enjoy these delicious treats. With the ability to ship throughout the United States, there's no reason you shouldn't be ordering one of these desserts.

Yelp
Really good, excellent service. I ordered a traditional red velvet cake to be shipped for my birthday. I received the wrong cake, so I called and let them know, they apologized profusely and the next day a little after 9 am I received the correct cake. It is absolutely delicious, I see why it is on Oprah's 2017 favorite things list!

Yelp
Really disappointed with the cake we received today. I ordered one for my mom for Mother's Day and then decided to get one for our family as well just to see or get an idea of what I sent Mom. We ordered the blackberry lime cake personally but sent Mom the coconut lemon because she loves both flavors. Ours arrived with no instructions at all. NO it was not in the red tin. They were not included at all so we had to call for guidance. After letting it thaw the 4 hours recommended we cut into it. Trying to cut into it the icing crumbles or just shatters right off the cake. It is not at all bonded to the cake body. The cake itself is dry, it has little to no flavor at all. Perhaps an occasional aftertaste that might say lime. MAYBE!This cake arrived less than 18 hours after it was ordered so it isn't an extended transit or anything like that to blame it on. I am in total disbelief that this company has the nerve to charge $60($75 with shipping) for this cake. Money is not really a factor for me if we are getting quality products.I myself run a business that caters to the high end of its customer base so as long as the quality of the product is at least in the realm of the cost it is no problem for me. This isn't even close. The $7 triple berry coffee cake from Whole Foods taste better to us personally. I know my mom will say hers is great even if it really isn't but I really regret sending her one after trying it out ourselves. My condolences to the owners as I hate to give anyone that has a passion for their business a negative review but at the same time we all have to work for our money and earn it. There was nothing about this cake that justified the description, hype or price. I won't say it is bad at all it is just nothing.

Yelp
Got to taste the yellow cake with chocolate icing at the Atlanta Food and Wine Festival both last year and this year. Both years excellent cakes!! Amazing icing and I like how the cake has many layers with lots of icing in between each layer. Great cake and friendly people!

Yelp
Nothing better than going to a Christmas party and seeing a Caroline's Cake on the dessert table. I don't know how she does it year after year. Her cakes are so moist and tasty. The coconut cloud is a dream and the caramel is as rich as ever. Cut a thin slice on the caramel it goes a long way. If you happen to be so lucky to taste the carrot cake, cut a big slice you won't regret it. I'm sure this sinfully chocolate won't disappoint. Happy Holidays!!!

Yelp
Carolines at Christmas is very busy - understandably, because their cakes are amazing. If you are not local, be sure to order early to ensure you don't miss the shipping deadline. I needed a cake after Christmas, and ordered before the holiday, but it got caught up in the Christmas rush. Luckily, they have overnight shipping for emergencies such as this, but it is better to order in advance and freeze the cake so you are sure to have it. I really appreciated the personalized customer experience regarding my order so I will be able to get it in time for my event, and I will be sure to order earlier in the future!

Yelp
Just received the Coconut Cloud Cake as a birthday present. It is the best coconut cake ever! It is moist, light, not overly sweet, and utterly delicious. Thank you Caroline's Cakes. I will be ordering from you in the future.

Yelp
The cocoanut cloud cake is the only one I have tried. It is light, fluffy, moist and not too sweet. This is the only one I have tried. So good, am anxious to try others

Yelp
The 7 layer caramel cake is delicious but their shipping and customer service were not good. Second time I've ordered a cake for delivery on a specific date and it was not delivered. This time it was 4 days late without an email or heads up about the delay. "2 day Air shipping" should not take 4 days. Probably won't order again.

Yelp
I was invited to a cookout here in Savannah ga when I was introduced to your cake samplers. I never taste cake so good! If you wasn't so far I would get my wedding cake made there. So moist so tasty! I fell in loved with all but I stalked the layered chocolate cake! This must be what heaven is made out of.

Yelp
Yesterday I had a kind of social emergency - a last minute change of plans left me with nothing to take to the PHRW Patriotic Celebration. I needed something by 5:30. Miss Strawberry answered my 4:30 call and was so very understanding. When I got to the bakery, she was there, I know they deal in big orders, but she treated me as though I was as important as the big retailers she usually deals with. She told me how to peel off the protective cover and cut the brownies I was purchasing before they defrosted. I bought salted chocolate brownies with caramel frosting - they taste like candy and are equally rich. A small box can be cut into 16 or more pieces. I cannot recommend Caroline's more highly than 5 stars on YELP, but I would give it 6 or more if it were possible. Sadly, I learned from Miss Strawberry that the founder of the bakery, Caroline, passed away last weekend. So sorry I never had the privilege of meeting her. May God bless the business she founded and help her progeny as they carry on the marvelous work she began. (P.S. Caroline grew up in Lake City, SC - and when I learned about her home town, I told her my sweet step mother, Frances Fawcett, has written a wonderful little book about Lake City. I have not been able to persuade Frances to do more than share it with family and the Lake City Historical Society, but truly, this little memoir should be be more widely available.)
