East Ham’s Best Restaurants | Where to Eat in East Ham | Eater London

"Exposed brickwork in East Ham used to be synonymous with building sites, not cafés. Carpathia, with its cosy interior and lovely lattes, gives a truly wholesome offering: the star of this little place is its traditional Romanian menu. Friendly staff, a fully stocked Romanian deli and a roster of daily specials are a brilliant introduction to the cuisine. Try the beautifully seasoned grilled pork collar, served with homemade fries, or the ciroba de burta — a rich soup, speckled with tripe and peppers, galvanised by a side of pickled green tomatoes." - Shekha Vyas

Amazing customer service. Amazing products. Good time keeping beginning with taking the order and ending with delivering the products and after sale care. All the time we felt really welcomed. Well done! We will be back to try the family grill platter.

I have been here a few times and the food was pretty good but this time the lady there said that have a daily menu which sounded promising but was a big disappointment as tested as if was cooked days before so I could not eat it . On the other hand the one dish I had before “cordon blue “ was quite good.

The food was ok. I am personally not used to such food. It was quite heavy for me. I tried Moldovian dish. I will not eat it again. Rather I probably will order a stake next time. They don't do any substitution for fries. If I want a salad or rice instead of fries, they will not substitute it. That is a large issue because I will not order something I cannot eat and still pay for it. The service was good though.

Beautiful cafe in the middle of East Ham, I can work relaxed in this environment and deal well with stress here. The decor is lovely, slightly pricy but an oasis in a very busy area.

I don’t live far from this place so I decided to give them a try, it seemed like a nice place from the outside, when I went in I found the staff very rude towards me, they were not welcoming, I think it could be due to the colour of my skin because they were nice to everyone else and I was the only brown person in there and I felt very unwelcomed, they took ages to serve me and when they did the way the waitress spoke to me was like she didn’t want to serve me, I still ended up ordering something small, The food wasn’t too bad. I ate my food and left. Much better place to eat in East Ham, I wouldn’t recommend this place

I absolutely loved my lunch in this restaurant, we tried a few dishes and every single one was outstanding. I would totally recommend this restaurant for everyone in the area or even if you are passing by. The food is delicious and prepared to perfection. Definitely worth a visit if you have never been before.

I'm always nervous when ever I take non-Romanians to try Romanian food. I want them to get a good first impression, and so the restaurant I choose is very important. It must be able to showcase exactly what Romanian food is about. Well, I'm pleasantly surprised to say that Carpathia fits the bill precisely! Tried the Mix Grill along with the Moldavian stew, and they were both amazing, really felt like home. The "mici" are usually hit or miss when you eat out as it depends onwhat recipe they use. Well, these guys nailed it. Whether they made them themselves or bought them, they were really good. And the dessert, the papanași, we're bloody huge. Can't believe you get 2 of them lol. That's almost too heavy to finish. Loved it. Needless to say, I recommend this place, whether you're Romanian looking for something that tastes like home, or just looking to try something new. The staff is of course Romanian, and very friendly. Felt welcome. Bravo!

I’m eating and drinking my coffee all the time in this place . It’s such a great place , the staff is very welcoming and nice . There are moments when the restaurant is really busy so it may take a little time to recive my food , but I never get disappointed about it . Well done for your effort and your work ! 👏

Yelp
A great introduction to Romanian food. I've been here once before with young children and we were more than welcome. The staff are friendly and happy to introduce us to their cuisine - many dishes we had never tried before. It's a nice cosy place for a quiet catch up, so great for a chilled meeting too, if that's your thing. They serve the usual hot drinks and some nice cakes, as well as hot food. If yours there in the morning, look out for the 'happy hour' on hot drinks!

Yelp
There is a new trendy joint in town and it is what the town needs! I was delighted to discover this lovely little gem, you could see passers by just stop and stare at the place in awe. The atmosphere is cosy, interiors are industrial chic, the menus are displayed on the walls, and they have a food counter. They serve top quality Romanian dishes, cold meats, and pasteries. I had the Meatball soup and mashed beans..yummy and healthy..bonus! You also get to sample their dishes before you place an order. The staff are incredibly friendly and made us all feel so welcomed. A definite visit!
