I'm always nervous when ever I take non-Romanians to try Romanian food. I want them to get a good first impression, and so the restaurant I choose is very important. It must be able to showcase exactly what Romanian food is about. Well, I'm pleasantly surprised to say that Carpathia fits the bill precisely! Tried the Mix Grill along with the Moldavian stew, and they were both amazing, really felt like home. The "mici" are usually hit or miss when you eat out as it depends onwhat recipe they use. Well, these guys nailed it. Whether they made them themselves or bought them, they were really good.
And the dessert, the papanași, we're bloody huge. Can't believe you get 2 of them lol. That's almost too heavy to finish. Loved it. Needless to say, I recommend this place, whether you're Romanian looking for something that tastes like home, or just looking to try something new. The staff is of course Romanian, and very friendly. Felt welcome. Bravo!
