Chicago-Style Pizzeria Bringing Pan Pizzas to Lake Travis - Eater Austin

"San Antonio’s historic Pearl district is opening a new restaurant, Carriqui, in September, replacing Liberty Bar which moved in 2016. The restaurant is named after the carriqui, or green jay, a bird native to South Texas, and the restaurant’s food follows the flightpath from the Rio Grande Valley to the Texas coast to San Antonio. That means dishes like botana platters, Gulf seafood, and barbacoa as well as cocktails." - Erin Russell

This was our second time here. The first time was to celebrate my daughter- in-law’s graduation. The service we received from Stephanie was EXCEPTIONAL!! The food was AMAZING! My husband was so impressed we went back for his birthday this weekend. 5/31. Our server Jerrell took very good care of us. To add to our already great experience the manager Mr. Allexis brought a variety of exquisite desserts to celebrate my husband. Every dessert was Exceptionally Delicious!! We felt so very special. Thank you Carriqui for making my husband’s birthday EXTRA SPECIAL! Carriqui is our new favorite place to dine. 10 out of 10!

My family of 5 enjoyed our experience at Carriqui. It’s just a short walk from the River Walk, and the vibe is fantastic; chic but super welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious, and what really stood out was the service. Our server went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right, even had a dish remade to fit our preferences when requested without hesitation. That kind of hospitality is rare and so appreciated! It was also surprisingly kid-friendly, which made our night stress-free as a family. The space feels classy but not pretentious, perfect for both date nights and family outings. We left full, happy, and already planning to come back. Highly recommend if you’re in San Antonio.

This was such a beautiful establishment. The architecture and interior were both stunning at every angle. The atmosphere was a breath of fresh air. Professional service for the meal we ordered: a platter for 2 that changes every now and then but has a variety of smoked meats to try. It was so delicious, my husband and I can't wait to bring our friends and family here to try. Be it for a date, a girls' night out, a family meal, or a business proposal, I think it's got such a southern charm that will sway anyone on any occasion. It is absolutely worth the time to come down and have a meal when visiting San Antonio.

I went for my birthday and it was such a wonderful choice! The service was attentive and welcoming, the atmosphere was nice without being stuffy. I highly recommend the patio with its impeccable landscaping and fountain. As for the food, it's a true embracing of "South Texas cuisine" by blurring the lines of BBQ and Mexican food into something amazing. Try the nachos with burnt ends, you won't regret it. The cocktails were cold, strong, and delicious. My hubby had the brisket and I had the Barbacoa. Both our meals were perfectly cooked and so flavorful and tender. The flan at the end was beautifully plated, thick and creamy. We can't wait to go back and try their Tequila and Taco Tuesday!

This was our first time here and the food was so good. The corn cakes were my fav! The chimmichurri butter is heaven! The Tuna Tostada was heavenly and so fresh. I ordered the Wagyu fajitas and my husband had the axis venison. Everything was wonderful! James, our waiter, was so nice and professional. We will be returning!

I absolutely LOVED this place! It was my first time here and for everyone in my group too, and it honestly couldn’t have gone any better. The food was amazing from start to finish, from the appetizers all the way to dessert. Everything was packed with flavor and so well done. Our server, Brianna, was incredible! She knew the menu so well, gave great recommendations, and made the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Our first time at this restaurant at the Pearl. We love the Pearl and decided to try something different. We were seated immediately for the outside. If you want an inside seat at the bar we were told it’s self serve. Which is fine. The outside seating was immaculate. Our hostess Jose was very personable and knowledgeable about the food. The restaurant is know for having the #1 nachos. We would agree that is correct. We also had the grilled ribeye fajitas….scrumptious! In addition to the chicken al carbon….spectacular. The drinks were non-alcoholic and were delicious. Sparkling cucumber mint and back porch punch. They were both refreshing. We would definitely recommend visiting this establishment.

My husband and I shared the smokehouse platter. It was more than enough food. It was nicely presented and everything tasted excellent!! It was the best food we've had here and we've had some good food. It's an old building very nicely renovated. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing service by Kayla. Came here for a girls trip night out and everything was just perfect. Will be dreaming about those sweet corn cakes. Thank you!

Yelp
We came with a very large party of 18 and they were the only restaurant in the Pearl district to accommodate us but with split tables on a Friday evening. The service was really slow, I felt because we were on the second floor that we were forgotten about. The food was mid. The ribeye tacos were flavorful but the warm flour tortillas turned into a firm texture within a few minutes. The ceviche had an overpowering soy sauce/ponzu taste to it which didn't sit well with my taste buds. Because it is located in the Pearl district the prices were slightly above average.

Yelp
Restaurants are more than a way to satiate hunger with good food, they are a place to experience hospitality and remove the burden of service when you go with guests to enjoy a meal. Carriqui was recommended by a friend as a favorite in the San Antonio area. The website looked interesting and the venue looks beautiful. I thought I would bring a party of 10 to a place that we could enjoy some food with local Latin flair. We arrived puzzled about where the entry and host stand was. I thought there might be signage, but we wandered in the space looking for the right door. There is a smokehouse area and a dining room separated by a breezeway. A sign pointing the way would have been very helpful. We did eventually find the hostess and checked in. The bar welcomes you and is beautiful. The selection is broad and the craft cocktails were excellent. We ordered drinks and waited on the rest of the party. We were seated for dinner and placed orders for a round of drinks, appetizers, and entrees. Let me first tell you that the drinks, appetizers, and entrees were amazing. The smoked rabbit quesadilla was amazing, the chicken was incredible, the brisket was great, and the chopped pork was just right, not too greasy and not too dry. Notice the bbq focus here. They had some latin fusion in the entrees, but do not be fooled as I was, this is a smokehouse that has enchiladas if you want them. The disappointing thing in my Carriqui experience was the service. This was a 4 hour bbq dinner. The food was good, but not that good. Every order of something took ages to come out. When it arrived, it both looked and tasted great, but the kitchen artists or the wait staff definitely took their time. Drinks felt slow for basic cocktails. They were brought in spurts and auctioned off as we had people being tagged in to help with the service work. Maybe my expectations are too high, but this place checked so many boxes, but missed on service. This is too important to hospitality for me to ignore. Try it, but make sure you have plenty of time or... maybe just sit at the bar!

Yelp
Carriqui has been on my radar for quite sometime ever since they finished renovating this old once leaning house! The inside of the restaurant is gorgeous, it has the classic Old King William's feel to it and it's a beautiful place to be. The patio is also really nice and I'm sure during the spring time it's a lovely place to eat or have drinks. The server we had was also very sweet and attentive. We sat inside and my husband ordered the brisket and I ordered the gulf shrimp for our entrees. My husband has a very high bar when it comes to BBQ as his family owns several restaurants so he said his Brisket was "ok" but not special, considering the price of his plate. For me I loved my shrimp, the protein was seasoned really nicely and I really enjoyed it! I will say the portions of the sides and the plating was a little clunky but that's just nit picking. For dessert we ordered the Flan and I am a huge Flan fanatic and this did not disappoint! It was so delicious! I'd recommend this place to anyone coming into town for the first time, it's a really great summary of Tex/Mex cooking. I don't know if I'd personally be back (unless I'm showing someone new to town around) but I am glad I stopped in and tried it out!

Yelp
Great restaurant located near the Pearl and I love the fact that they have their own private parking lot. Y'know it's impossible to find street parking especially on the weekends normally. I had made reservations to meet some friends here for brunch/lunch 1145 am on a Sunday. This place is bigger than it looks! There's seating at the main building, plus a huge outdoor patio seating area, and an entire other building beautifully decorated. The hostess was welcoming and friendly and our server was excellent. We were seated in the other building near the windows. The menu wasn't huge, but just right with a few lunch and brunch items. After debating for a while of what to order, I decided on the Texas Gulf Shrimp plate. Agua Fresca of the day per our server was strawberry pineapple. Our server was able to water mine down slightly- since it was very sweet, but love knowing that it was freshly made. Complimentary chips and salsa always a plus, and we were able to order some spicy salsa to accompany at no charge. My shrimp plate was delicious! 2 skewers of nicely cooked and seasoned shrimp atop salsa with perfectly cooked cilantro rice and a fresh leaf salad. A half slices avocado accompanied my plate. Oh how I love avocados. I thoroughly enjoyed my plate. The chicken al carbon was also a good choice - half a chicken that was juicy, not dry. The avocado toast was beautiful and the pecan salsa was quite interesting. The female performers during our brunch in the room, made it very hard for all of us to have conversations. The volume echoed loudly in the room, so it was very hard to speak and understand each other. Although a great idea, maybe outdoor patio area might be more suitable. Beautiful space, great service, good food.

Yelp
We came here for my birthday and sat outside at 11 AM--the weather was perfect, and the patio was beautiful. We ordered the brisket kolache, and the meat was incredibly flavorful and tender. We honestly could have eaten a few more! The grilled shrimp was also packed with flavor. A great spot to enjoy a delicious meal outdoors.

Yelp
We came with a group and it was a bit of a mixed bag with the food being 5 stars and everything else being in need of improvement. Huge difficulty getting reservations as the automated system doesn't work and no one answers the phone. Restaurant itself is cool and chic being situated in an old house. The bar setup was great, although the cocktails we ordered (Mezcal Negroni) were not made to the described specs as we watched everything that went into it. We were seated upstairs which was airy and comfortable. Our order was promptly taken and we enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa which were amazing. We shared the BBQ tasting plate which was huge and quite delicious. Mains came almost immediately after we finished which was too rushed. No issues with any of those as they were all perfectly prepared and plated. I enjoyed my cabrito and I also tried the smoked/fried quail which was outstanding. Server kept clearing each person's plate as they finished one at a time instead of at the end which was disconcerting and contributed to the rushed atmosphere. Dessert was enjoyed by those who ordered one but I was too full after eating too quickly to try something.

Yelp
The first time I visited there was an excellent burger with brisket that was probably one of the best in town, each visit has been progressively disappointing. The service has always been very good and the setting is wonderful . My rating reflects that service alone. The Tuesday taco special in terms of price, quantity or quality is something I will never order again. Today's meal the SMOKEHOUSE PLATE was just average, with the cabrito being acceptable but the brisket was dry and not tender.

Yelp
Nice place. Great atmosphere and well appointed. We were able to use the dedicated parking lot and we were seated upstairs. This was our first time eating here as we had only been here before for a happy hour event. The food was good, but I feel like I ordered the wrong thing. Lol! I had the fish which was quite good and I enjoyed the salad. The rice on the side was kind of plain, but about what I expected. The service was very good and so were the drinks in the appetizers. We will be back where I will take advantage of different food made on the woodfired grill.

Yelp
We go here every time we're in the area. Highly recommend it as an apps / cocktail place. I've only had a few main dishes and weren't that impressed, but honestly it's fine because the apps keep bringing us back! It's the cutest place, kind of reminds me of a house in South Carolina or Hampton's, but then with a Mexican vibe. Service is ALWAYS great, everyone is absolutely the sweetest and so accommodating and helpful. We ALWAYS get the tuna tostada. CANNOT go wrong. The fish is so fresh and the sauce is spot on. It comes in a set of 2, but you can add another for an additional charge (if you have a group of 3, like we did). The corn cakes are an app, but basically a dessert. They're kind of sweet but the butter is savory! We also always get the chicken tortilla soup, found out last time you can get a cup or bowl even tho they don't (really) offer that. Ask anyway:)) Cocktails - get the Carraquillo if you like an espresso martini (it's not a martini but has coffee and orange and so yummy and fresh). Love the old fashioneds also, but the first one I had was toooooo pecan heavy. I asked the waiter and they completely remade it. The bar manager even thanked us for bringing it to their attention. Love that they didn't make me feel bad for raising a complaint. All in all, definitely recommend!

Yelp
This restaurant is a true gem. The venue is historic, which adds so much character and charm to the experience--it really feels like stepping into something special. The smoker is a standout feature, and their brisket nachos and tacos are beyond amazing--smoky, tender, and packed with flavor. But what really takes it to the next level is the patio--it looks straight out of Central Park in NYC, offering a perfect setting to relax and enjoy a meal. Whether you're sitting outside or inside, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service is always friendly and attentive. The drinks are always on point, and while the happy hour is a nice touch, it's the combination of incredible food, a historic venue, and that stunning patio that keeps me coming back. Easily one of my favorite spots in town. Come see Issac and Ben at the bar!

Yelp
Host and server were accommodating to a reservation time change, with outdoor seating with h our pets. Food and drinks were very good. Our party enjoyed the crispy cauliflower and Brussel sprouts, brisket, ceviche and avocado toast. Finished with tres leches. Yum.

Yelp
Met some friends here for lunch. Arrived at 1130 am (had reservations) and got seated quickly. Waiter was very friendly and polite. Ordered guacamole. Was very good. We had the brisket tacos for lunch with rice and beans. The refried beans were delicious. Brisket tacos with jalapenos crema were also very good. A few in our party attempted to order fried fish tacos and a turkey BLT and were told they were out. (Weird at 1130am) but nonetheless the food we did order was very good.

Yelp
A Love Letter to Carriqui: A South Texas Culinary Gem Carriqui isn't just my favorite restaurant in San Antonio--it's in a category of its own. Nestled in one of the city's most historic buildings, it brings the essence of regional South Texas cuisine to life with authenticity, care, and a level of execution that rivals Michelin-starred restaurants I've experienced across the U.S. and Europe. As someone who studies operations with rigor and regularly dines at the highest-rated establishments in Austin--including those curated by the likes of Morgan McGuire--I don't take praise lightly. But Carriqui earns every word of it. The menu is thoughtful and intentional--each dish feels like a conversation with South Texas itself, grounded in tradition yet refined in execution. The drinks are equally well-crafted, never an afterthought. It's rare for me to dine out alone, but after a long day of work in San Antonio, Carriqui has become my personal sanctuary. Even after the departure of Jordan, an exceptional manager, the leadership hasn't missed a beat. That speaks volumes. The consistency, professionalism, and warm hospitality remain unchanged thanks to a remarkable team--Bridget at the host stand, bartenders Isaac, Jessy A., and Ben--all of whom deliver genuine warmth and care that elevate every visit. Carriqui also offers what so many restaurants overlook: a safe, secure parking lot, and banquet facilities that are truly top-tier. From ambience to plate to service, this is a rare place where every detail is dialed in with excellence. Honestly, no review could do justice to how much I love this restaurant. Carriqui is more than a meal--it's an experience I look forward to again and again.

Yelp
Upon walking into the restaurant, you'll be greeted with a smokey aroma that's pleasant--clearly some good things are happening in the kitchen. It doesn't feel like a Mexican restaurant due to the architecture of the building but the music and aroma convinces you. The chips and salsa is absolutely delightful. If you are not a fan on spiciness, you will not like the salsa. I thought the salsa was perfectly sliced and very flavorful. The chips were thickets and have just the right amount of crunch. Everything on our plate was tasty! Their refried beans, was nicely seasoned and was the typical boring refried beans. Nothing but good things food wise. Certainly will return once in the area. Random! The bathroom was nice and it fit the aesthetics of the building. The paper towel was of quality and the fit and finish was nice! The hot water was instant... lol Anyways check it out food is definitely enjoyable!

Yelp
So I've been here a few times. For Carriqui sponsored events like National Margarita Day or for Fiesta. And I've also been here just for happy hour. I am never disappointed!! The food is delicious! The service is awesome! I typically sit outside and the patio is amazing!! Taco Tuesday is totally a thing here and you can get a plate of 10 tacos for $40. The tacos are spot on!! The brisket queso is so velvety and the drinks are great!

Yelp
SO good, amazing place to bring family and friends visiting San Antonio, great rep of south texas! Made me miss the RGV! Awesome food, got the sampler and was more than enough for 2.

Yelp
Ambiance 9/10 - very warm and inviting. Acoustics are not good. Hard to hear and have conversations when it's busy. Maybe sitting outside would be better. Restrooms were wow and super nice and clean! Service was ok - waiter mumbled and was hard to understand at times. Some training with the wait staff would go a ways. Food - we had the enchiladas, brisket, gulf shrimp, fajitas and churros for dessert. Enchiladas were unique and chock full of flavor. Would absolutely order again! Fajitas were good, but you have to ask for toppings as it doesn't come with guacamole, salsa, etc. Spanish rice was ok. Not the best we've had. The salad and chips they serve ahead of time wasn't good. That salsa is pretty bad. We didn't care for it. Not traditional like salsa. Do yourself a favor and order the churros. You get 5 small ones with chocolate to dip in. YUM! We would definitely go back if in the area.
google avatar

Nelly L.

Yelp
Sooo we actually had breakfast at home but we had decided to leave a little room for French toast or pancakes since that's something we never order. The chips and salsa are really good very fresh. I meant to ask if they're made there or brought in. Service was all around great but our waitress was a little slow. We sat outside and was absolutely lovely. The French toast with mimosas was the perfect pairing. Was very well balanced not overly sweet.

Yelp
Amazing food and drinks in a beautiful relaxing atmosphere. We had the as appetizer the queso and nachos with brisket and main dish blackened fish dish and the Texas Gulf shrimp dish. All the food was hot and so flavorful. I am upset that we didn't take pictures. Our girl night out for dinner and drinks was a night to remember.

Diana M.

Yelp
The vibes were good, drinks were not bad, the service was also good. I went with 2 of my friends, good time. Until we left. 30 minutes after leaving we ALL got sick. 2 of us had chicken and the 3rd only had queso and water. A few other people I know have also told me they have gotten sick. I wish I could rate higher but being sick after dinner ruined it for me :( cute place tho, maybe I'll js go back for a cocktail

Yelp
Again Carriqui was fabulous. My wife and I went today after Easter service and Carriqui did not disappoint. We order the Easter Special Luncheon and it was tasty. And today there was live music to entertain us too. We will be coming back!

Yelp
So disappointed with the recent bad experiences. Food used to be AMAZING! I've been dining at Carriqui since it opened and food, staff, service had been outstanding.. there was care and attention to detail in everything. It's not there anymore but most disappointing is the food. It's changed, and not in a good way. I've continued to order the dishes I used to enjoy and two in particular are just not good anymore. I've had to send back to kitchen on several occasions, unfortunately. Some other company clearly took over and turned everything to crap, changed food!! Im so disappointed.

Yelp
My husband and I went to celebrate Valentine's Day. The ambiance and music were amazing a lot of latin pop which I LOVE! We chose a later reservation in order for us to be able to be inside since we knew the weather would be cold. They sat us at a table in an area somewhat separated from the main house which was beautiful but my main concern was that they sat us right by the door which was kept open in order for waiters to come in an out. So despite our efforts to stay warm inside we were still pretty cold. Drinks were great! My husband ordered the margarita and a paloma. I ordered the cucumber mocktail which was delicious. The main reason I am taking two stars off is because I was pretty disappointed with the food. My husband ordered the Brisket and I ordered the Enchiladas. Both came with a side of rise and beans which the beans were okay but nothing out of the ordinary and the rice was pretty mediocre. Enchiladas were supposed to be of chicken yet had so much cheese that I couldn't even tell if they had chicken or not. Salsa for the enchiladas was also nothing out of the ordinary. I would say pretty basic. The brisket was definitely good quality and super juicy. We also got a side of papas bravas and those were AMAZING! Definitely recommend. Lastly we finished with some churros which once again were okay but definitely expected more. Would love to see their dishes get a bit more elevated and have more of an authentic Mexican flavor because they were definitely lacking that.

Yelp
Beautiful location, beautiful building, great service, all the food was delicious including the complementary chips and salsa, the ceviche, blackened fish, and the tuna tostadas. My favorite was the blackened fish.

Yelp
Loved our night here at Carriqui! We were seated in Marco's section, he's the BEST! We started our night with the Ceviche. Fresh and delish. My husband had the Cabrito... yum!! We ordered a side of papas bravas. WOW, these were my favorite. I had the Gulf shrimp. The flavor was amazing .

Yelp
I made reservations for dinner tonight with my brother and sister in love visiting us. Today was Fiesta Monday so they were having drink specials. Lime Margarita frozen or on the rocks were $6. Dad had Lemonade, Hubby and Brother had Frozen Margarita, and I had it on the rocks. Brie brought us complimentary chips and salsa. We started off with the Ceviche and Carriqui Salad. Then we all shared the Barbacoa, Cabrito, and Quail. We had the Roasted Cauliflower too. Everything was delicious. We ended with Churros. What a treat! They even had a Fiesta medal for sale. Brie was a great server who was on point with the service. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The menu is creative, the food delicious, and the service attentive. The ambiance, or setting, is classy but not stuffy.
google avatar

Zachary S.

Yelp
First off, the service was outstanding! The staff was attentive and did a great job of helping. The place is very cool and unlike make restaurants, you have lots of space instead of being right next to another table, so it is great for privacy and conversation. On to the food. It was excellent! The burnt ends, the papas bravas, and achiote spiced chicken were all extremely well done and I highly recommend them to anyone going. Lastly, they do have a great drink selection to choose from!

Yelp
Loved this restaurant, truly loved it. It was refreshing in flavor diversity and menu items. The reviews were spot on! I got the goat and churros and I planned on taking dessert to go, but the dessert didn't make in the bag! It was that crispy but soft and the chocolate dipping sauce yummy. The shareable potatoes were yummy just yummy. Highly recommend the place. The service was friendly and attentive which is always appreciated! Ambiance, ambiance, ambiance! Beautiful! I sat outside and could have been there all evening long. The outdoor seating is one the best I've been too. Fire pits and bar just nice! Well done! I did have to find street parking.
google avatar

Nima T.

Yelp
Thought the salsa was outstanding. Among the best I've enjoyed. Barbados was nice. Wife had chicken enchiladas which were good. I'd go back. Waiter was a little over the top. Very nice place easy walk from Hotel Emma.

Yelp
Everything was excellent -- food, drinks, and atmosphere but Jose made it a place we will come back again and again! THE BEST SERVICE! Thanks Jose :)

Yelp
We came in during Sunday brunch hours and the food was delicious and the service was good! Loved the outside seating area, which is where we sat but the inside was also super cute! I ordered the Texas French Toast which was good but there wasn't an even balanced taste of toast versus egg flavors. We received our checks tucked within a reading book, which we could then write a message in, that was neat and a cool. I'd love to come back and try their bbq because we could smell it smoking and it smelled amazing!

Justin B.

Yelp
We had a date night here. The ambiance was amazing and the food was on point. We had the tuna al pastor as an appetizer and wagyu fajita and puffy tacos as are entrees. Our server checked on us just enough. We'll definitely be going back.
google avatar

Jeremy R.

Yelp
Carriqui has a menu influenced by the flight of the bird it's named after. It's a phenomenal concept that brings the smokey BBQ flavor to Tex Mex with delicious bites all over the menu. You can feel its inspiration in its southern hospitality style of service & atmosphere! I definitely recommend coming hungry as you will be leaving full!!
google avatar

Jewls J.

Yelp
Food and drinks were delicious! Service was good for being such a busy restaurant! Ambiance is beautiful, we sat in the "outdoor" room and it was very nice, it's covered/enclosed and the decor is beautiful.

Yelp
Absolutely loved my visit to Carriqui during lunch hour. I visited on a Tuesday at 2:30 and had wonderful service. On Tuesdays, margarita's are half off! They use fresh ingredients and taste excellent! I ordered a regular cocktail as well that mixed mezcal and tequila which was so good. It's called the curandero. Highly recommend if you're not a fan of mezcal but are trying to give it a second chance like myself. I ordered the classic nachos and added brisket for an extra $5. It was quite skimpy on the brisket but very tasty. Wish the nachos had more beans and brisket as they were doused in cheddar cheese. Overall ok but could be better. Finally, the restaurant was absolutely beautiful and wonderful including service so head on over to Carriqui and find out what the buzz is about!

Melanie P.

Yelp
Food was great, I had the.. Smoked Texas Brisket.. brisket was 10/10 fall apart and lean, sauce had the right amount of spice. Topped with sweet pickles and pickled onions. So good. Beans were a puréed texture, rice wasn't heavily seasoned so over all the plate was very well balanced. I did have the spicy margarita which I LOVE a good spicy drink but I did feel it was overpowering. It took me a while to finish due to the spice so sadly I didn't get a second. My husband had the enchiladas calabasita which is the plate on the opposite side, can't speak for him but his plate was fully cleared off. There were mariachis playing absolutely loved that! Possibly add a couple extra umbrellas on the patio I did get a bit sunburnt. The patio was aesthetically pleasing for location of the Pearl. We got lucky with mariachis! Not sure if that's an every weekend thing. Overall great Sunday funday. + They do have brunch items we'll definitely be going back for the French toast. Bar top inside is enticing!

This place has it all - great vibes, delicious food and excellent service. The fish a la plancha was SO good but so was my husbands brisket plate that I had to steal some bites of. He also stole some off my plate too! The ceviche was also very very good. Also loved that we could sit at the bar with absolutely no wait but Down on Grayson's wait was like an hour and a half. Next time DOG hits you with a ridiculous wait, just walk across the street and try this place out!

Yelp
Tried this Pearl brewery unique spot on a late Saturday afternoon. The location is prime on Grayson with great parking. The locale is beautiful with a separate smokehouse that invites you in with aromas of smoked meats. The U-shaped bar anchors the high ceiling and spacious dining area. We sat near the bar and were servers by a very accommodating and savvy bartender. Drinks were delicious and the wine list, short but well stocked! The menu is elevated TexMex. The queso with burnt ends was tasty and the chips a homemade delight. I had cabrito and my wife BBB cheeks. Both flavorful! The only disappointment was sending back cold and uninspired rice and beans... really an area to improve. The tortillas were home made and delicious. Overall a great spot for elevated local cuisine and drinks!

Yelp
I had the tomato avocado salad with goat cheese, and it was VERY tasty. Also, the crispy cauliflower and brussels sprouts were worth every bite. For starters, try the corn cakes...yummy! The cocktails are just right, and the service is excellent.

Yelp
5 of my fellow veterans joined me at this restaurant as we were visiting San Antonio on business. We found this restaurant while walking around and decided yo give it a try. We were seated quickly and had a lovely area upstairs. We all ordered something different from the menu and we all agreed that each our meals were tasty. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. The service we received was great. Our server and her team were quick to keep our drinks refilled and we're attentive to our needs. The only negative was associated with billing. With a group of six we could only break the bill down to 3 separate checks instead of 6. Very strange especially since we were still automatically charged 18% for gratuity. We agreed we would return in the future but only in a small group because of the policy.

Yelp
A seventh wedding anniversary dinner. Made a reservation, was able to get there earlier than expected. Seated with no issue. Got a cute little corner table, so all cozy and cute and romantic! Great overall ambiance for a date night. Service was great! Friendly and just the right amount of attentive. It was also fun to watch the bartender at work. It is a beautiful returant. The menu is great. And oh good heavens. That is, hands down, the best chicken tortilla soup in all of San Antonio (that I have tried and IMO). Delicious food. Good portions. Prices what you would expect for the Pearl. A great nice dinner date place.

Yelp
One of the most beautiful restaurants in the Pearl area. It's got hints of fancy dinning while keeping it somewhat casual. The music choice was a bit odd since it seemed to toggle between country and Mexican banda. We sat upstairs and it was a cool experience but they had the AC cranked at full power. I don't get cold easy but it made the tail end of the experience a tad uncomfortable. The tamarindo drink was delicious and refreshing. A must try. The food was a solid 4 stars. The taste is good but it was missing that extra something to make it stellar. Both their green and red salsas were amazing and made the food taste so good. A must try in the Pearl area.

Yelp
Upon entering, it feels like I am walking into the history with the beauty of the woodwork, the details, the airy feeling, and the neutrals of the colors are so coherent! The service by Our waiter Jose was phenomenal. He was great with recommendations of cocktails and replaced them when we didn't like the 1st option. I had ordered the picosita margarita but was a bit too spicy. Got the Carraqui margarita and that was on point. His knowledge of the menu and the history of Carraqui was inspiring! Ceviche(Texas red fish) guacamole, Roasted salsa were our appetizers and all were fresh and so flavorful. I got the Fish a la planca (bass) it was so delicious! Fluffy, flavorful and all the garnish made the dish my favorite so far! 1st time here and will be be back again.

Yelp
The service was attentive as we sat at the bar. We did not have reservations. A few drinks .. ranch water and a strawberry margarita. The ranch water was very good .. all the flavors came through. The margarita was quite small, and they forgot the rim. The flavor was okay. We had the queso with burnt ends. Loved it! My son had the Fajita plate .. the beef was tender and smokey ... very unique flavor. I had the brisket plate. Nothing wow'd me on that plate ... it was like a typical fast food brisket. The location is awesome .. they have their own parking off the back on Josephine. Design was southern meets carribean. Inside and outside patio seating. They have an event room in the back for large gatherings.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for a little lunch date. The restaurant is in an old building with a lot of cool history that the staff is happy to talk to you about. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We got the nachos and added burnt ends. The waitress said they were voted the best nachos in SA. I don't know about that but the burnt ends did make them quite tasty. We shared the barbacoa burger and it was really good.

Yelp
Located in the Pearl District, Carriqui has plenty of seating inside and outside. Lovely dimmed setting on the outside, which I preferred. Restaurants sits on the corner and parking available on the street. Overall I was satisfied by Carriqui. Their drinks were pretty amazing and food was good. My favorite was the queso dip with the addition of barbacoa. My colleagues also enjoyed their meal. We ended up grabbing some dessert too but they were okay.
