The Best Bars in Phoenix, Arizona | Eater Phoenix

"Cleverly named and gorgeously designed to look like the luxurious cabin of a 1970s jumbo jet, this immersive, airplane-themed cocktail lounge has been a hit from the moment it landed in sister restaurant Wren & Wolf in November 2024. Just as is true with real air travel, customers must purchase their tickets ahead of time for 90-minute flights that take them to iconic destinations. The cocktail menu, which changes annually, features vintage-inspired drinks that reflect the spirit and flavors of various points of departure and arrival. Expect a welcome cocktail accompanied by in-flight snacks of fancy peanuts and shortbread cookies. $100 buys the Captain’s Club boarding pass, which includes three craft cocktails of choice and a four-course light bite menu." - Nikki Buchanan

If you’re looking for a standout experience in downtown Phoenix, Carry On, tucked behind Wren and Wolf, is the place to be. From the moment you step inside, you’re immersed in an atmosphere that’s intimate, elegant, and effortlessly cool. What truly sets Carry On apart is their exceptional non-alcoholic drink selection. As someone who often skips the booze, I was thrilled to find a creative, thoughtful, and genuinely delicious range of zero-proof cocktails. Each drink felt just as special and complex as its spirited counterpart—refreshing, nuanced, and beautifully presented. It’s rare to find a place that gives this much love to the non-alcoholic menu, and I was beyond impressed. We went for the Captain’s Club package, and it was worth every penny. From start to finish, the service was impeccable, and the food? Next level. Each course felt like a curated adventure—elevated, flavor-packed, and plated with intention. The attention to detail in both presentation and taste left us blown away. It felt indulgent yet unpretentious—a true celebration of culinary craft. Carry On strikes a perfect balance between refined and relaxed, and whether you’re abstaining from alcohol or simply looking for something new, this spot delivers an experience you won’t forget. Highly recommend joining the Captain’s Club for the full magic.

Carry on is a unique fun group experience. Like being on a plane ride but with very comfortable seating and everyone conversing and having a good time. The Drinks are unique and well made. My group did the Captain's club. Which included food and drinks. It was worth it when everything was added up.

I went for my birthday today and had so much fun. Love the decor and atmosphere, the service was spectacular the whole night. I went with the Captain's Cabin, so we got food along with our drinks. I loved the Arancini and Crustini, would go back just for those. I thought the cocktail options were great, a good range from boozy to sweet depending on your preference and the seaside martini service was a great touch. I loved the Newgroni and Vieux Carré, the White Russian was a little too sweet for me, but loved the clarified presentation. I have been trying for months to go here, but totally understand with the limited space in the bar, if they sold more tickets , the ambiance would not be the same. There are several places in PHX where you might have to try a couple times to get in, but that's just how it works in the 5th largest city in the country. It's great to have these really special spots in the city. I will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone.

This innovative new bar opened in November 2024 and I've been trying to get tickets to go on a night that works for us and we finally went this evening. What a fun concept and I can understand why they just won the best new bar award. It takes you back to the 70s and the glamour of flying. The cocktails are outstanding and we're looking forward to going back for dinner. If you like venturing out for fun cocktails and maybe a dining experience, I recommend you give this a try!

Google
Such a fun unique vibe. It's nice to go to a place with a start and end time. We've been twice and will definitely go again. Drinks were superb, snacks were on point, and service made us smile. Go to start your night or end your day, either way you'll have a good time.

Google
This extremely small (30 seats that I counted) is a fun, retro way to enjoy some artisinal drinks and fine dining small plates. Due the small seating area, a loud group can be a bit much which can take away from the experience, much like an actual airplane. We enjoyed the Captain's club seats and the food was flavorful and exquisite. Comi g from Wren and Wolf, this lived up to my expectations. We did have to try for several weeks to get in during a time that worked for us. You will only out of this experience what you put into it, enjoy yourself and immerse yourself in the whole experience and it will be worth the wait.

Looking for an amazing cocktail experience in Phoenix? Look no further and book a flight on Carry On. This is a craft cocktail experience that takes you back to the era of 70s air travel. Grab your boarding passes from Wren and Wolf, and your experience begins. At take-off, the couches vibrate, like the old Rocketship to Mars at Disneyland. A mixologists approach to the cocktail is taken, and they are well balanced and delicious. Cocktails are from various locations ranging from the States to Mexico. Definitely wait for the martini cart. It's a cool experience. You can peer out the windows and view your journey. No, it won't affect your motion sickness. It's a cool projection. Cocktails only, so plan solid sustenance accordingly. Reservations are required and definitely worth the trip. The staff is friendly and the drinks are tasty. Check it out, and enjoy! Cheers and see you on board.

Flight attendants are amazing, what a great experience. A must to fly! Mexico to San Francisco. Sidecar is very refreshing highly recommended. Jungle bird and Hawaiian sweet.

Yelp
What a great adventure. We celebrated a birthday flew from SFO to Mexico City while enjoying cocktail and a smooth flight. Great Service and friendly atmosphere. We will return again..

Yelp
I wanted to share my incredible experience dining at The Carry on. Securing a reservation proved challenging, but I assure you, it was entirely worthwhile. The innovative concept truly sets it apart. Imagine being seated in a meticulously recreated High class fuselage of an airplane, complete with comfortable, with seating that vibrates as if in flight subtly, creating a unique and immersive atmosphere. We opted for the Captain's Table, a first-class experience that included a delightful selection of tapas and four complimentary drinks. The initial drink, offered to all diners, was a delicious complimentary drink starter that perfectly set the tone for the rest of the flight. The captain's engaging presentation about our "flight plan" added an unexpected layer of entertainment and excitement to the dining experience with his humor. The overall ambiance was exceptional, blending the thrill of air travel with the sophistication of fine dining. I highly recommend making a reservation - if you can! It's a truly unforgettable experience.

Yelp
I think carry on lives up to the hype Here's my thoughts. From the second you "check in," you're transported- complete with turbulence, mood lighting, cute branding and cocktail carts. I went with the Captain's Club ($100/person) which includes: Welcome cocktail + snacks 3 craft cocktails of your choice 4-course tasting menu ... and IMO, it's totally worth it if you're planning on having a few drinks each. Pro tip: Do the martini service. They roll out the cart like you're in first class and shake it tableside. Food-wise, it could use some work tbh. And they are small bites so don't expect this to be a full meal. King Crab Louie - fresh + delicious Lobster Arancini - more cheese than lobster, and a little cold Oaxacan Beef Crostini - flavorful but cold bread threw it off White Chocolate Passionfruit Tart - dreamy and paired perfectly with cocktails Fave drinks: - The Vodka Drink, Pornstar Martini (from the martini cart!), Old Fashioned. But The Newgroni was a skip for me Whether you go all in with the Captain's Club or stick with general boarding ($40 for 2 guests w/ welcome drink + snack), it's a super fun, super unique night

Yelp
This was such a unique, one of kind experience, we absolutely loved it! My husband and I went after we had dinner at Wren & Wolf (which is fabulous fyi) that's where you check in to get your boarding pass. You sign up to receive Carry On's email notifications to join the Que for tickets, which go on sale every Monday at 10am for the following week. I had tried a few times to get tickets and it was always sold out, this time I got lucky. The process is frustrating, but it's a popular experience so I suggest just sticking with it. For $40 we purchased a boarding pass for 2 passengers. That included 2 welcome drinks, 2 bowls of peanuts (one plain and one spicy) and two short bread cookies. You also get 2 Wing pins for nostalgia. But it's really about the experience and they didn't skip any details! The flight attendants check you in and you're immediately transported back to the 60's and 70's. The plane is sleek, sophisticated, and retro! It seats about 30 passengers at tables of different sizes depending on your boarding pass. Our two top table had such an intimate vibe. The bar is at the front of the plane and the captain is the bar tender! The welcome drink was a tequila watermelon drink. It was actually pretty good. My husband ordered an old fashion to start and then had a Manhattan when they came around for "Martini Time!" I had a dirty martini with blue cheese olives. We both enjoyed our drinks. The drink menu is unique and on theme. They have San Francisco theme drinks and Mexico City theme drinks. We loved "Martini Time" when the flight attendants came around with the Martini carts, such a fun table side presentation like they did back then. Some might think the cocktails are on the pricier side but it's a cocktail experience so they were the price we expected. The windows of the plane were showing our actual flight from San Francisco to Mexico City the entire time, which was super cool. When we took off we flew over the Golden Gate Bridge. The seats on the plane actually vibrate and hum making you feel like you're flying and experiencing turbulence. The details of it all are what made this experience 5 stars! There are so many...The Captain comes over the speaker a few times and is very clever, the bathroom is even set up like an airplane bathroom (but much bigger,) the check comes in a passport, etc... The whole experience is 90 mins. It's a MUST do at least once!! For a date night, special occasion, night out with your bestie. We had a great time!

Yelp
Oh how I wish I could rate this more than 5 Stars! Had the best time at Carry On an immersive cocktail experience in PHX! Combining my love of travel and cocktails it was a flight I'm glad I didn't miss! Imagine yourself in first class on a jumbo jet in the 1970s. Brown leather. FAs in gogo outfits and boots. Pilots in aviators. All the comforts of first class. Combine that with modern day takes on classic cocktails and you have an experience unlike any other. Interactive screens take you on a flight from SFO-MMX in 90 minutes. The vibrations give it an actual airplane feel. Every detail made the experience that much more like being in first class. The cocktails were divine! Such a great spin on the classics and brining the 1970s to modern day. Enjoyed the city specialties as well. Peanuts and cookies were nice touches as well. I appreciated them as I like a little nibble when I drink. Everyone could not have been nicer! I haven't seen a group of people thoroughly enjoy their jobs like I did at Carry On. The whole experience was top notch! I can't recommend it enough if you're in the PHX area and are able to snag this hard to come by boarding pass!

Yelp
This place is great. The only downside is trying to get a reservation every week at 10:00 AM on a Monday, which can be really difficult for some work schedules. The inside is beautiful and definitely gives you the feeling of a being in a 70s airplane. The service was outstanding and they were on top of everything. I loved getting a welcome cocktail and seasoned nuts as soon as we sat down. Every drink we tried was delicious and all the little details were fun, like the penguin shaker that they left on the table for the martini. Even the bathroom continued the airline theme. This is definitely worth making an effort to try out if you can.

Yelp
Reservations are all online, which opens the Monday at 10am before you want to set it for and the links are sent on Sunday. It's by the tables of 2, 3, or 5 so round up or reserve multiple tables if need be (though you can contact them for parties Iarger than 6). Unlike The Trophy Room, this deposit is not applied to the final bill - this deposit does however include a welcome cocktail (not of your choosing, it's a strawberry bubbly drink), peanuts (with 2 seasonings - a plain and a Cajun one), and a shortbread cookie for each person. You'll check in with the hostess of Wolf and Wren and the reservation is a neat boarding pass where you'll go around the corner to "board the plane." A enamel pin is also included and they do validate parking in their parking structure (Two Renaissance) for 2-3 hours I can't recall. The interior is pretty spectacular and the bartenders and servers are dressed up as pilots and flight attendants. The concept goes from a domestic to international destination so for this route, it went from SFO to Mexico City. 2 main comments: -- Of all the destinations in the world, it's a bit disappointing they chose Mexico City which is right south of our border. They said they'll change destinations every year so hope there's a better change in scenery for the next journey. -- Missed huge opportunity to offer a "flight of drinks" (or even liquor from the destination i.e. tequila for Mexico City) to go with the theme. I tried suggesting it to the bartender and he kinda scoffed and said I could open my own plane bar and do it better... Drinks were decent, but I'd only come for a special occasion as this was pricy and service could be improved.
google avatar

Desiree D.

Yelp
I loved the whole concept. Such a fun unique experience. Four stars only because of how much of a hassle it was to try and get a reservation. The interior felt like a throwback to airplane lounges from the 70's that you see in movies. I love that you could really feel the "turbulence" during the flight from San Francisco to Mexico. Small curated menu with amazing drinks and peanuts. All in all a great experience.

Yelp
This was such a cool experience! It was hard to find a time to go to Carry On. We had to put an email down to get notified when times came out for the following week. We then had to jump on a site when the notification was sent out so that we could select a time. By the time we could, the only thing left was a time at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. When you get to Carry On, you need to go to the front desk at Wren & Wolf around the corner. There, they give you your boarding pass with your information and table. Then, you wait in line by the Carry On door on the side. When it is time, someone dressed as a flight attendant came out to let us in and seat us. Since it was our first time, we got a free pin with the Carry On logo. The bar looks like an old airplane and has a mostly wood aesthetic. The light is low and there's some really cool lighting going on to set the mood. One of the coolest parts is that the windows are screens that show the city you're taking off from and then landing in. We tried the welcome cocktail and then a gin and tonic. The welcome cocktail was really tasty and I loved the gin and tonic. The bar does martini time when they bring out a cart to make dirty martinis. They were super good. Carry On is on the pricier side but I think it is worth experiencing once.

Yelp
This is a very unique place and a lot of fun. I went there with a corporate group and really enjoyed it. We "flew" from San Francisco to Mexico city and enjoyed a variety of specialty drinks and snacks along the way. I highly recommend this one of a kind experience. Great for clients or a great way to start a date or to grab a night cap after.

Yelp
My BFF was able to book "flight", and I'm not sure if it was worth the stress, but it was such a fun experience! I LOVED every minute of it!!! Tickets open up on the website every Monday at 10:00 am Phoenix time for flights for the following Friday through Thursday, and it was honestly like trying to get concert tickets. We both logged on prior to the tickets becoming available, and by the time they opened, she had about 500 people ahead of her and I had over 900 people ahead of me. When we finally got through, she was able to get a flight for Sunday at 9:30, but by the time I got through there were only flights at 9:30 on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. According to her, there were some hiccups with trying to process the transaction, as initially she booked the 3:30 flight, but had technical issues, and lost that reservation. It costed us $40 for 2 people which included a 90 minute "flight" with welcome cocktails, peanuts, and a few chocolate shortbread cookies. Our flight was from San Francisco to Mexico City. I loved the retro theme of the whole experience - all the details were on point! After checking in at the Wren & Wolf, we received our boarding passes, complete with carbon copy paper tickets. When we entered the "plane", we were seated at adorable lounge seats and watched the captains mixing and serving drinks, and the two flight attendants took orders for other drinks from the SF and Mexico themed drink menu. Drink prices are on the higher end but you are paying for the experience. Halfway through the flight, the flight attendants rolled out the martini carts and made our drinks with a lot of drama and flair. Our flight attendant was so cute and bubbly throughout the flight and making our drinks, you can't help but smile. The drinks were made in penguin shaped shakers to go with the penguin logo. The flight was an immersive experience and it was so neat! The windows have a low resolution screen that make it look like you are taking off and landing, flying over the Golden Gate Bridge and the Aztec pyramids, and the seats vibrate and make it feel like you are going up and down and flying through turbulence. They started offering a Captain's Club menu on certain flights for a 4 course light bite and 3 drinks for $100, and I'm curious what is on that menu. Maybe next time! 3 hour validated parking is available in the lot under the business building.

Yelp
You have to try this at least once! Totally the coolest experience we've had at a themed bar. You do need to sign up for their mailing list to get tickets so it can take a couple tries and weeks to get a spot which go by fast. After the update of the waiting room for spots it's a little bit better. You really feel like you're on an a coast airplane and most importantly the drinks are top notch. The staff goes with the theme and they definitely play their part like the cast members at Disneyland. I don't want to spoil any of the cool parts of it, but we will definitely return again for a special occasion. As a note: the reservations also allows for capatins club which gives small derives of food throughout the flight. It was a little expensive but it does include 3 drinks of your choice plus the welcome drink. The time slot we wanted was out of regular spots so we just went for it. Drinks were delicious!
google avatar

Sake C.

Yelp
Hands-down, the best design concept for a cocktail bar in Phoenix, perhaps in the US. The reservation queue system is well organized, but difficult to grab a spot. The porn star martini drink was absolutely amazing!
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
Must do if you are in Phoenix. Definitely sign up for email And book a couple weeks out. $40 gets you two welcome drinks and snacks and it's an Hour and half experience. Service was prompt and nice and had an extensive drink menu of some favorites back in the 70s. Heavily airline themed and felt like you were on a flight from San Francisco to Mexico City Mexico.
google avatar

Natasha A.

Yelp
The only time I enjoyed turbulence! Great concept, only way it could be better is if they served food. You get peanuts & cookies, that's it. Park in the Renaissance Square Parking Garage so you can get validated at Carry On, then Check in at Wren & Wolf for your Passenger Ticket. Head around the corner of Wren & Wolf to board. You'll see the 70's orange & gold exterior. I bought the table for 5 but 2 of us could only make it, they provided us 4 drinks. Typically your number of people = number of drinks. You can buy a table of 2, 3, 4, or 5. For 5 it's $100 after tax. Tickets go out Tuesdays at 10am. They go fast. By 10:30am only that table of 5 was left. So be quick and sign up for their email alert. Overall, very fun for a date, girls night out, or even for family or a birthday. More of a novelty than a repeat experience, but if they had an entree menu I would definitely be back, or at least appetizers, it is supposed to be a private jet anyway, right? Mid flight meal please!
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
Another awesome bar from Pretty Decent Concepts. Great attention to detail, delicious drinks and a fun/unique experience. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The drinks are a little pricey but you're paying for the ambience and they're different than ones you would find at a regular bar with very unique ingredients. It took us a while to get reservations but with how small the bar is, it makes sense. But I love the intimate vibe, I can't wait to see what they come up with next! Maybe a spaceship bar haha
google avatar

Bridget S.

Yelp
Such a cool spot. Reservations are not traditional and remind me more of a concert lottery system if that makes sense (reservations open up on a Monday for seats available for the following week if that makes sense). Along with your ticket, you each get a free welcome drink and peanuts as a snack. Definitely follows through with the airplane vibe with your captain announcing the flight and fun visuals out the window. There was a good selection of cocktails to choose from and they were all wonderful. Only downside was we did have a rather loud group behind us and the acoustics inside seemed to amplify them a bit, but it didn't take away from the experience too much.
google avatar

Leslie B.

Yelp
As a frequent flyer, I was looking forward to this experience. Sadly, there's still middle seats on this flight. Despite being the first ones in our section, we were denied a different table. The time slots all start at the same time and the other parties, who arrived much later, were also only of 2 so it was slightly disappointing when they didn't accommodate our reasonable request. If you're seated across from each other, the chair sits much lower than the booth and makes it difficult to converse. I do appreciate mocktails being a part of the menu and the cocktails were good, but this is a one and done kind of experience.
google avatar

Christa M.

Yelp
I have had this place on my radar since I saw their first post on IG a few months back. Everything about it sounded cool, exciting, and unique so I signed up to receive a notification when reservations would open up. The grand opening was on Friday and my email came in on Thursday night. I quickly got online, picked my date, and paid my fee. For two people it came out to be about $52 and tickets sold out that same night! The day finally came (Saturday) and we checked in at Wren & Wolf. The check in lady was nice and quickly handed me our flight tickets. We then made our way over to the Carry On line and the doors opened promptly at 7:30pm. The workers kindly greeted us, stamped our tickets, gave us each a pin, and took us to our seats. There is really not a lot of space so keep in mind that if you aren't sitting in the big booths, you are sitting on the one side or at the back of the "plane" and the tables are all very close to each other. There was a welcome drink, drink menu, water, and a "safety on board" pamphlet waiting for us at our table. The windows were "closed" at that moment but they opened up as we were taking off for flight. There is no food menu here. Service started right as we took off and we placed our drink orders. We had four drinks in total. We had: One Pink squirrel cocktail- my drink One Blue Hawaiian cocktail - sisters drink One Woody cocktail - sisters drink One Pornstar martini - my drink Both the Pink Squirrel and Pornstar were delicious and I would so order them again. My sister enjoyed her Blue Hawaiian but not so much the Woody. We received complimentary peanuts and cookies as an inflight snack and they were both good snacks to have. The pilot spoke every so often on the intercom and would make some funny commentary / jokes but it was hard to hear as our flight had some very LOUD people. Service was great and the servers were attentive. Midflight consisted of them rolling out a martini cart and making the drinks on there which was cute. The inside felt very elegant and the theme was perfect. There is a bathroom on board but I didn't get a chance to check it out. Overall, we had a great time! The service was great and it was such a unique experience.

Yelp
Very cool experience! I love a good theme. My friend had told me about this place & I was enticed - so I signed up for the notifications to know when to sign up for the waitlist. I clicked on the link at 10am exactly when it opened & still had to wait half an hour to get my turn to choose my reservation- only a handful of times were left available. A table for 3 is around $50 something & there are no refunds. They do call a couple of days before the reservation to confirm your party. On the night of, we decided to eat at Wren & Wolf (where you check in & get your "boarding pass" for Carry-on). The actual entrance is outside & around the corner. There were maybe a couple dozen people there total. Upon entering we got our boarding pass stamped & they gave us souvenir wing pins. The seating in the small aircraft themed bar was spacious & comfortable, service was great, drinks on point, & was just enough time to enjoy the experience. I liked how the plane windows move - as if you were flying & the seats vibrate a little, just like in a plane. The noise level wasn't too bad, we were able to chat without having to yell. They do go around with a martini cart to make custom drinks, but my fave that night was the Harvey Wallbanger. The reservation also came with a tequila & guava drink, which was also delicious. This is not a place you go to as your "spot", but more of a special occasion/date venue.

Yelp
What an amazing concept! Although reservations are extremely limited as long as you keep an eye out it is possible to get a seat. We first got out "boarding passes" at Wren and wolf and then walked shortly around the corner to the door with the orange velvet ropes. As soon as they open they check your boarding passes and give you an airline wings pin. Inside was absolutely beautiful and they did an amazing job on the theme. The booths were very comfortable and even had a slight rumble to make it feel like you're on an actual plane. Service was amazing and so quick! As soon as we put a drink order in it came out in less than 5 minutes. All the drinks we got were so delicious. As well as the complementary welcome drink and peanuts. Once reservations are a bit easier to book I will be back!! Thank you Carry On for the experience!!
google avatar

Meg M.

Yelp
My husband and I were sooo excited when we were finally able to get tickets! The tickets themselves are esthetically pleasing, but don't forget to head to Wren & Wolf to obtain them before getting in line to Carry On. The entrance is so fun and retro as well as when you are being seated. The drinks were delicious, especially the filthy martini. I think the blue-cheese olives are made in-house. I will say, we went Nov. 27 and it seemed like they were really trying to smooth out the kinks still. Which I get, I think at that time they had only been open for 2 weeks. They have a lot of potential! The cocktail waitresses were a bit nervous and seemed like they hadn't worked in that type of atmosphere before. Also, the graphics on the screens are a bit dated, I hope in the future they are able to upgrade to better quality. I'm glad we went, it was super fun! But the only time I'd go back is if a family member or friend wanted to go!

Yelp
Such a cute, aesthetically pleasing bar. Getting a reservation is a sport; but once you secure one it's worth it. All of the drinks were soooooo good and the service was great! It's a 90 min experience and it's perfect for date night!
google avatar

Yasmin T.

Yelp
Was so excited to finally get a reservation here after checking their instagram almost daily lol When I got the email with reservations I ran! A very cool experience and a fun place for a date night or friends night out. The welcome cocktail, peanuts, and cookies were a a nice touch especially when you have to pay for the reservation up front. Service was great and it was exciting that all the servers were in character the whole time. Cocktails were good but not amazing I would expect better from a concept that only serves drinks I think they should step that up a little bit. Definitely a great experience for one time but not a place I would come consistently.

Yelp
I was so happy to be a passenger aboard Downtown Phoenix's newest cocktail lounge experience on its opening night. No turbulence there, and my flight was... "plane" awesome! Carry On is designed after a 1970s jumbo jet lounge and the entire place is superbly crafted to match the theme. It's very, very beautiful and the vintage vibes are definitely there. My 90-minute flight last night was headed to Mexico City and the menu and announcements were tailored around the destination, but they will offer different destinations in the future. I also loved all the subtle humoristic touches. You'll get actual personalized passenger tickets prior to boarding (hint: you do have to wait outside after collecting your tickets from the front desk at Wren & Wolf. Depending on the weather, it can be a bit cold. Warning others because it was quite chilly waiting for the door to open - you cannot get inside until the exact time of your reservation). The seats vibrate upon take off and landing and occasionally throughout the experience. The windows are video screens where you can enjoy different views throughout the flight. There is an in-flight martini cart. You'll even get your Carry On wings at the end. I know the opening was a bit messy, with many delays and website glitches that left many disappointed. Many of us incurred credit card charges when our reservations would error out online. The business promptly corrected all this - my credit card charges were gone within 24 hours. I trust that this was a one-time issue and they will iron out all the website issues and reservations will be much smoother in the future. The experience itself was top notch and everything was put together very neatly - and again, I went on the first night they opened, so they were definitely prepared and ready. The staff was very friendly. The only thing that would prevent me from becoming a frequent flyer is that it's a bit pricey. You can reserve booths of different sizes depending on the size of your party, starting at $40 for a table for 2 (which lands you at $50 once fees and taxes are added). You do get a welcome drink (delicious), a mid-flight treat (very tasty, and they gave us a free refill), and some really nice parting cookies. Beyond that, the drinks will come in addition to what you paid for the reservation. You can park for free in the garage by Wren & Wolf. Just remember to have them validate your parking ticket.

Yelp
After three months of refreshing the website like I was trying to snag Beyoncé tickets, I finally secured my boarding pass to Carry On--and let me tell you, it was worth every second of the wait and all the emotional damage from near-misses. From the moment I stepped into the jetway (yes, they have a jetway), it was clear this wasn't your average cocktail lounge. It's like if Pan Am and Wes Anderson had a baby, and that baby grew up to mix a killer Old Fashioned at 30,000 feet. The "flight attendants" (read: bartenders in glorious vintage uniforms) escorted us to our oversized airplane seats--real seats, not the sad excuses we're used to in coach--and we were handed menus that looked suspiciously like safety cards. Spoiler: nothing about this experience was safe. The drinks? Dangerously good. The legroom? A miracle. The ambiance? Pure, retro-turbulence-free bliss. You stare out the faux plane window as clouds drift by and you sip a cocktail named "Ground Delay" that tastes like what I imagine first class in the '70s felt like--boozy, smooth, and a little too fun. Carry On is more than a bar. It's a high-concept, highball-fueled fever dream where nobody loses their luggage, and the only thing crashing is your ability to limit yourself to one drink.

Yelp
We were invited to a birthday party here. It was such an amazing experience. I highly recommend doing this. I don't want to give too much away, because it will be fun for you to be surprised. I'll post a few pictures for you.

Yelp
Good experience overall but I loathe the one week lottery thing. Everyone has varied schedules and you can only book one week in advance. We did did get a welcome cocktail (very light but loved the thought) This place has such a cool vibe but super hard to actually plan something

Yelp
The COOLEST bar in AZ!!! I've been SO excited to check out Carry On ever since they first announced it. Getting tickets was a bit of a challenge, but definitely worth the wait! The space is small, so it makes sense that tickets sell out fast since they can only accommodate so many. When we arrived, everyone was super friendly and attentive. You really feel like you're in first class on a flight. The drinks were simple but crafted to perfection, and the whole theme was unlike anything I've experienced at any other bar. Time flew by, but we were so happy to have had the chance to experience it. I can't recommend Carry On enough!

Yelp
OH MY GOSH. If you are in Scottsdale for a weekend or if you live here, you need to book a ticket and get your boarding pass for Carry On! You enter through Wren + Wolf. We flew in Friday night and when we arrived at Carry On it looked and legitimately felt like we were on another flight! I don't want to give the entire experience away, but it was an experience I would do again! We were welcomed with Welcome Drinks--the signature drink has tequila and they were beyond accommodating and brought me one with vodka instead and even swapped out a friends for a mocktail. We loved the subtle penguin motif throughout from the boarding pass to the shaker. Our stewardesses were beyond friendly and helpful with their recommendations! I don't drink a lot but the Vodka drink was DELISH and not too overpowering, but my personal favorite was the Pomegranate Martini mocktail. I wasn't sure what it was going to taste like with some of the ingredients but do yourself a favor and order that drink! I had 2 and am still dreaming of it. It was hands down the best mocktail I've ever had + I consider myself a mocktail connoisseur. Our group also had a manhattan, old fashioned, yuzu high ball mocktail, White Russian & pornstar martini. The group favorites were the pomegranate martini for the girls + the old fashioned & White Russian for the guys. If I could rate this experience 100 stars, I would.

Yelp
Ok, this speakeasy was so amazing. From getting our boarding passes next-door, to walking in and getting wing pins and sitting down and having a complementary cocktail waiting for us, it was a delightful experience. The seats move when there's turbulence announced by the captain, the imagery on the screens in the windows looked very realistic and super fun. The bar and the outfits of the staff were awesome. The best part were the delicious cocktails. The tableside martini service was amazing. I will definitely be going back.

Yelp
this is easily one of my new favorite speakeasies in the Phoenix area. There's a great selection of drinks and I love the on flight snacks. Obsessed with the airplane-like bathroom and all the little details. the turbulence and windows were a great touch. Staff was super friendly and attentive as well.

Yelp
We had a blast here on our holiday girls night! We had dinner nearby beforehand and then boarded the 9:30pm flight to Mexico City. You snag your tickets from the hostess stand at Wren and Wolf and then go around the corner to start boarding the flight. They let us board about 10 minutes before 9:30p, so no need to get there too early or else you'll be waiting in line outside. They start you off with a welcome cocktail (such a nice touch!) and then you can peruse their delightful craft cocktail menu. I got the Harvey Wallbanger cocktail and it was perfectly balanced and delicious. After they bring your first round of drinks, they drop a bowl of spiced peanuts at each table. Halfway through the flight, it is "tini time" and they bring around a martini cart! Yes, please. I couldn't help but get a filthy martini with blue cheese olives from the cart. It was delish. As for the flight itself, your seats will vibrate, there are announcements from the pilots, and the windows show the full takeoff, in air, and landing experience. It is so cool! Lastly, they bring around a little sweet treat and you arrive at your destination in Mexico City (errr downtown PHX). I'll absolutely be back! I need to bring my pilot husband in to experience the fun.

Yelp
Prepare for takeoff as you journey to Mexico City with this very unique speakeasy experience. Carry on gives first class service from ticketing to landing. The aesthetic is sleek and sexy. The 'flight attendants' were personable and made the experience that more fun and enjoyable! Food service was not offered at the time, but now you can sign up for an elite dining experience which I can't wait to try. I only wish they offered your reservation fee to count towards the bill, but it's all good. The drinks hit and it's all worth it. Tickets drop every Monday! What are you waiting for ;)

Yelp
We had so much fun coming here for a suprise date night set up by my hubby! Tucked away behind Wren and Wolf; we were greeted and seated and had the pleasure of having Payton as our "stewardess" or flight attendant! She was sure to customize our experience and it was so incredibly fun and interactive! Hidden gem that should be on everyone's Arizona bucket list! Thanks again Payton! after we were able to belly up to the bar at Wren and Wolf for a night cap! overall lovely night

Yelp
Such an amazing experience!! The staff is incredible and so quick at serving folks. It is a small space, but if you've been to other speakeasies in PHX or Scottsdale then it's exactly what you'd expect for space. The welcome drink was smooth and delicious, and the tickets plus pins were such an awesome touch! Yes, you do pay $46 for 2 people to experience Carry On, but with the tix, pins, welcome drinks and snacks it's quite worth it! The whole flight was awesome and drinks were strong and delicious. It's not a cheap date night, but it's a night you won't forget!

Yelp
Really cool experience and a different twist to the speakeasy style experiences downtown. The process to get the reservation was nail biting but ultimately was successful. The service was really great from start to finish. The cost of drinks were what you would expect around $18 a drink with a large ice cube meaning very little actual drink inside. With that the drinks were really good so A+ to the bartenders. The vibe was really cool and the little details from the boarding pass to the pin made the experience much more elevated. My only complaint with all of these cocktail bars is lack of small bite options.

Yelp
This was a fun little experience/adventure. If you're able to get a ticketed reservation during the Monday ticket drop, I would go ahead and try as not only our seats limited but also days and times. With that, let me go over a few things with you. Parking: I'm not quite sure we're parking is as we parked near a different hotel so I would recommend using public transportation, Uber or another lot. Dress: I was told that as long as you're dressed, you're fine. Some people dress the part in 70s garb which is really cool. Others were dressed for the night or dinner. I was traveling and I had jeans and a cashmere sweater on which was perfectly acceptable. Check in: You will check in at Wren and Wolf and then you will walk around the building and queue up at the stanchions until the doors open. If you have mobility challenges or can't stand, you may want to bring some assistive devices because it can be a little daunting. That was not my issue, but I'm giving you all the details here. Entrance: Once the doors open, you are warmly greeted by the staff who are already in "character" from pilot to flight attendant they welcome you aboard your 747 flight from San Francisco to Mexico. They will double check your boarding pass and you will take a little set of metal wings, which are pretty cool. Inside: No detail was spared inside the small airplane cabin that seats roughly 30+ people. Towards the back is the actual bar. It's simulated to look dislike a classic 747 lounge. Very detailed and upscale with elegant wood, paneling, and large windows that display the video screen of your flight. Music is also playing. The flight attendants are dressed in 70s style flight attendant Dresses, which are super cool. Everyone that we encountered was professional and nice. They walked us through the menu and suggested a couple items. Your ticket booking includes a welcome drink and a few snacks. There is no actual food here so either eat before you come or after. We were served a fruity sparkling cocktail along with some water. After the pre-departure announcements, the flight attendants came around to take a drink order. There is a menu on your table that includes the specialty cocktails as well as beer and wine, which don't seem to be as promoted as the specialty cocktails. Nonalcoholic Cocktails are also available which start at $12. The specialty ones are around $18. There are a few wine and beer selections as well. My suggestion is if you do not want the first round of cocktails are still enjoying you're welcome drink. I would wait until the martini cart comes out. A martini card is a whole other experience. Midway through the flight to hand you a tiny little card with the menu options all the way from a classic martini to a filthy martini we opted not to get that but would definitely try it next time. We enjoyed the welcome cocktail and then opted to have a nonalcoholic drink, which was interesting at best. All of the alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks have that very crafty trendy vibe sometimes I just wish they would stick to basic drinks. Although there were some classic drinks such as the pink squirrel and an old-fashioned, it just seemed to have a little bit of a twist to it. Some people really enjoyed the drinks. We overheard some guests saying that they were just OK or not what they expected again I would suggest if you're unsure maybe stick to the wine and beer and then wait for the martini cart. Towards the end of the experience, they came around with some chocolate shortbread cookies which were a nice way to finish the experience. We settled the bill at the table. I would definitely do this experience again perhaps a different destination, such as Tahiti L O L. I think the ticket booking charge based on number per table is pretty reasonable for this type of experience which is much elevated experience then let's say a pop-up, etc.. I hope they continue to provide this experience.

Yelp
My sister was able to book a reservation during the first round of tickets that were dropped. She got an email letting her know tickets were now available and we were able to book right away. Our flight was full and every table and booth was taken. We received great service from the start and everyone was friendly. The inside truly felt like the cabin of a plane and the workers did such a great job portraying that. We bought four drinks - one blue Hawaiian, one pink squirrel. one woody, and one Pornstar martini from the martini cart. The peanuts were yummy and so were the shortbread cookies, they were both complimentary. The inside isnt too spacious and we were really close to the party of three next to us. PS. Check Instagram for ticket drop announcements! Tickets are dropped per week and once they are booked for that week you'll have to wait for the following week for dates. Totally recommend!

Yelp
Very cool concept. Kind of a one and done kinda place. Feels just like a plane. Didn't try the food except for the snacks. Service was great!

Yelp
This is a fantastic addition to the Valley's burgeoning "experiential" cocktail scene. It's cleverly designed and implemented in a way that should keep it fresh for years to come. The basic premise of the 90 min experience is that you are in the upper deck bar of a 747 in the 1970's. Our particular "flight" was from SFO to Mexico City. All of uniforms, swag and menus are true to the 70'd vibe. Announcements are made during the flight that are humorous and helpful plus it tells you when the 90 minutes are over. Included is a petite welcome cocktail and a bowl with two kinds of nuts. Then you order ala carte. The drinks are familiar period drinks with a spin. All we had were well crafted and just plain delicious. Towards the end of the flight, the martini trolley comes around and they make martinis to order. Lots of fun! It's a fun and clever experience... one not to be missed if you're in downtown Phoenix.

Yelp
I'm sorry but really you make me wait online to be told it's all sold out! This is the 3rd and final time I will try to go to this spot. I would love to leave you 1 star for poor customer service

Yelp
Phoenix is truly blessed to have so many unique cocktail bars, and Carry On is no exception. A nearly-entirely plane-themed bar, complete with flight attendants and bar carts to match. If you have friends in town, I'd put it high on the list of places to take them. Drinks are a smidge sugary, but I can look past that. The only reason I can't give 5 out of 5 is because they reference the airplane as a 747, and while some pictures/references are a 747, not all of them are.

Yelp
Very unique experience! Room for improvement. Picked up our tickets at Wren & Wolf. Tickets are listed for $40 for a table for two, but on my receipt they added $4 tax and an unidentified $6 "Service charge". So be aware, it's more like $50 for two just to get in the door. Parking information was not provided. Wren and Wolf validates for the Cityscapes garage at their front desk. Validation of our parking pass still required a $5.00 gate fee. We were told even the workers have to still pay for parking. Waited outside in line prior to our departure. Picked up a cute set of metal wings (pin) and we were escorted to our table by a pilot. Our table was a lovely little corner with two welcome cocktails. We later found out this was strawberry infused vodka. I would have preferred knowing what was in it prior to imbibing. Also, the peanuts are flavored, which was great. But our bowl was largely soggy flavoring crumbs. Once underway, we perused the menu. It's overwhelming to see their full list of ingredients. Out of an abundance of caution I tried the regular bubbles to start. It arrived in a plastic airline cup and was about a 2 ounce pour for $12. Meh. The booth bench we were seated at vibrated throughout the experience much like an aircraft. The swivel chairs that came with most of the other tables appeared to be too low to be comfortable and most all had been abandoned by halfway through the flight. Our neighbors braved the menu and ordered a gin and bubbles $18. Despite having SEVEN ingredients she assured me it just tasted like Gin and bubbles. And it did. It was a more typical pour in a cute glass and tasted pretty basic although it allegedly contained iris root and valerian root. The decore, vibe, and staff were all great! Other than one storm encounter the digital window displays weren't used to their full capacity. If you just came here for the entertainment, it wouldn't be interesting enough to last the 90 mins. Also, we were probably asked 15 times if we wanted another drink. Even before our last drink was empty. With no real idea of the schedule, we had ordered martinis just before they came through the aisles with their martini cart where the stewardess made the drinks right in front of you. None of the non-alcoholic drinks listed are dairy free. My husband ordered the pilots punch and the jasmine yuzu highball. Both came as clear liquids and did not appear to have milk in them at all. They also came with a large rectangle of ice that almost completely filled the glass. I'd estimate his cocktails pours were also only about 2-3 ounces for $12. The restroom is a standard size which could likely accommodate mobility assistance. Would probably do again if we had guests in town.

Yelp
This is definitely a fun and unique cocktail bar! The interior is beautifully designed, though it's smaller than I initially expected. After visiting, I can understand why getting tickets is a bit of a challenge. The overall experience is fantastic. The space is thoughtfully designed with clear attention to detail--it's simply gorgeous to look at. Service was quicker than at other 90-minute bars, and the staff was very friendly. If you're not enjoying a drink, they'll be happy to swap it for something else. A few areas for improvement would be the "view" outside the plane. The 3D renderings are low-quality, and all the windows show the same video. On the bright side, the "storm" halfway through the flight was a great touch. The turbulence you feel in your seat adds to the fun! The cocktails are good, but not as exceptional as I had hoped. I do worry this place might be a bit too gimmicky for repeat visits. However, I'd still take a friend visiting town--it's got a quirky charm, and with only 10 or so tables, I doubt they'll ever run out of people looking for a unique experience. Overall, definitely give it a try! Just be prepared for a pricey experience (though, to be fair, all cocktail bars are). Allow yourself to embrace the fun and let the experience carry you away.

Yelp
Wow, this was a fun trip. Flight attendants were great. Drinks were amazing. On the menu, spicy peanuts and cookies. We had a fantastic Harvey Wallbanger, Blue Hawaiian, Dirty Martini and Vodka Martini with a lemon twist. Oh, there are also welcome aboard drinks. Loved the Martini cart. Be sure to pick up the phone and listen in on the cockpit. Even got a pair of Carry On wings!

Yelp
AMAZING. Such a great experience and ingenious concept. Everything was perfection from take off to landing. I've been to Century Grand and this for sure beats those immersive experiences by a mile (high). They have a good selection of cocktails, yet it's not overwhelming. They have classic cocktails, cocktails with a country of origin inspired twist depending on where the flight will be going, along with mocktail options and some beer and wine. They even have a hand crafted martini cart that comes down the aisles along with some complimentary snacks during your flight. I highly recommended checking out Carry On for a special occasion or just for fun.

Yelp
Experience was interesting and fun, but we were extremely disappointed in the limited bottled beer menu. Additionally, we would love them to consider allowing guests to order food / appetizers if you don't pre pay.

Yelp
Experience was great. The food was good. We got a captains table. Highly recommend the ambience was great. Our waitress was great.
