This is one of my favorite spots in the WORLD! The pies are so incredibly delicious every single time, the staff are always so kind and welcoming and the events they throw are the cutest ever. 10/10 recommend. Get ya booty in here.

Visited this morning for breakfast and bought two of the sweet pies, orange marmalade and Elvis lives (peanut butter, banana and bacon). Both were excellent. The crusts were flaky and just the right amount of sweet. Cute storefront with other local goods available for purchase as well such as hot sauce, prints and acrylic sculptures. Adorable and worth a revisit.

Love visiting their storefront despite the limited open hours. I also sometimes catch them at the Sunday farmer's market in Aksarben. I always crave their savory hand pies, and got a cheese and ham one this time. A little pricey at $8 each (the sweet ones are $5 each), but absolutely worth the indulgence every now and then. I appreciate that they have new flavors every week, and that they sell both ready-to-eat hand pies and frozen hand pies to take-and-bake as well. 🥧

Stopped in today before I left town and they were delicious! I had the chilli pie and chai pear and both were amazing. The staff was very friendly and quick. Such a cute place.

Awesome lil shop doing it right! Friendly as can be and their hand pies were remarkably delicious! We stopped in briefly during our recent trip to Omaha and wished we could bring extras back to Lawrence, Ks where we’re from. The two we had (sausage & potato as well as a browned peach butter) were just what we needed to start the morning!

Yummy yummy hand pies! The girls are great with a fun and cheerful attitude. The shop is small and you need to eat your pies elsewhere or at the picnic tables outside. The atmosphere is super cute. The colorful branding is joyful. I keep coming back for the fun new flavors and positive vibes.

I absolutely love coming here to grab a sweet and savory pastry for the weekend. The pie crust has so much flavor, and the pie flavors and variations are all delicious. The savory pies are definitely my favorite. The frozen hand pies heat up amazingly quick and are also a great breakfast treat to take with you on your commute to work.

Finally tried this pie place! Next time I gotta get there earlier to try out some of the pies that they sold out of! I tried the asparagus scramble and the blackberry pear! Both were delicious! Personally I am more of a savory guy. So I liked the asparagus scramble one better! I definitely need to go back there!

Fantastic First Friday with Dundee Bank! I have always seen their hand pies at the farmers market and have tried their sweet ones but this is my first time at the shop AND trying a savory pie. It was definitely worth it! It had the perfect amount of filling and the exact right amount of flaky buttery crust - perfect harmony. The flavors were delicious, I need the recipe for whatever seasonings they had in there because they really brought it all together. There was a bit of a line but it moved pretty quick. The staff were so nice and were definitely hustling. The shop is so cute and has a ton of related little food/merch for sale - including an adorable $1 mini prints from the Omaha area (I will be getting one next time I visit)!

Delicious filling and buttery flaky hand pie casing? What more could you want?! Carter and Rye is a fantastic locale to stop in on the weekend for a sweet or savory hand pie, with options for frozen ones to go to tide you over during the week while they're closed. Most recently I tried their spicy mango filling as well as their truffle Brie, both of which were absolutely delicious. I love supporting this local, women owned business!

I haven't had many hand pies, but I heard good things about this place and I'm always curious to try new foods. The lady that helped us was sweet and welcoming. We ordered a bourbon peach and pulled pork hand pie. They were both incredible. The crust on both were flakey and baked perfectly. The bourbon peach was delicious, as was the savory pulled pork option. I'm so happy we tried these! I hope to visit again and get another bite soon!

I have not met a Cater & Rye hand pie that I haven't liked! Getting both a savory and sweet option is a must. The brown sugar cinnamon has been one of my favorites and my favorite savory ones are usually breakfast themed like eggs and sausage. I usually get them from their booth at the farmers markets but occasionally make my way to their cute little store front. It's usually a short encounter but everyone I've ordered from have been polite and friendly. If you don't live close to midtown, still make the trip and take your hand pies over to the Bull Moose for a drink.

You can dip it, you can lick it, you might definitely want to kiss it... I'm a freaky fan of Carter & Rye and I highly suggest you give it a try. Most recently I had the Honey Lavender Blueberry, Salted Nut Roll, Caprese Pizza Pie, and Sausage Gravy haystack, but keep in mind that the selection changes weekly. We've had Greek hand pies, cherry almond, and many more. All have been Tasty with a capital T. They're always busy do be prepared to wait a few, but so worth it and the staff is friendly and on top of getting you in and out quickly. The plants in the front window are a nice homey touch making you feel welcome. Pricing wise, it's less than a full breakfast, but just as filling. Couple hints: They come hot and frozen, get done of each. When cooking the frozen at home, I'm finding it's more like 13-15 minutes @425.

If I could give this sweet, friendly place a 10 I would. Such a delight‼ happy faces greet you with a friendly hello. Picked what I wanted and off I went with 2 hand pies and a coffee. Not only was the hand pie both warm, they both where crispy delights. The savory one I couldn't put down. As every bite was just darn delicious, and the sweeter one was just as wonderful, and a regular cup of Joe was the right touch. I'll see you next weekend to see what flavors are next

I haven't left a yelp review in ages, but I HAD TO when we tried these! Please visit, these are incredible. We stopped by this morning around 10, and the shop had plenty of hand pies so we ordered one of each! Flavors change weekly, so keep an eye out for menu changes on their instagram. We got spanikopita, ham and cheese, coconut cake, and carrot cake. Flavors were all SPOT ON, and we're fresh off a trip to Greece so that's really saying something on the spanikopita. They had some condiments available, and you can also buy frozen to reheat later. Staff was so friendly, and the shop was so cute. I'll absolutely recommend to our friends and family!

It's a convenient way to enjoy dessert! Or it's also a fabulous breakfast treat! The flakiest hand pies ever! My hand pie is a raspberry cream cheese wrapped in layers of flakey pastry and baked to perfection - a golden brown and topped with the perfect amount of sugar! I have also had the brown sugar, also delicious! They also have savory hand pies too! Delicious!

Fire roasted peach and basil. Wonderful pop up with Coneflower creamery. Paired with a delicious buttermilk ice cream. Wonderful service!

Have been here several times now and still love the product-- homemade pop tarts. Small menu, but tastes great. Today they had two sweet and two savory. The sweets were brown sugar cinnamon (my fav) and blueberry which got a delicious compliment from a gentleman who was just leaving. The savory flavors were bacon, egg and cheese or a local mushroom polenta. I picked the bacon, thank-you, hot and delicious. I'm not a fan of their coffee but they do have other drinks including hot chocolate. Carter And Rye continues to be a solid addition to the neighborhood.

This sweet little hand pie shop is an amazing woman owned business and is full of amazing smells, awesome people (Hi, Kate and Missy ) and great conversations. These gals are a joy and you can tell they are passionate about their hand pies and love what they do! I just want to say these are the best hand pies I have ever eaten! You can tell they are made with love! They use very high quality butter. (You will have to ask them about the butter) and they also use amazing ingredients and local ingredients when they can. There are usually 4 different flavors every week (2 sweet and 2 savory) and they come up with the most exciting and yummy flavor combinations. I love that they will warm the pies up for you, if you prefer or you can have it to go and warm it when you get home. (Ask for instructions) You can also get a big batch of frozen hand pies to go, so you can have a backup supply if you can't make it in the next week. They also partner with a local coffee place and also have fresh juice. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed talking with Kate and Missy. They make you feel like you belong right there in their cute little shop, in their cute little neighborhood!

This cute little shop has been on my bucket list for an in person visit and I finally made it there. They are only open limited hours Fri-Sun, glad I made it before closing on a Friday when it's less busy. Weekly menu is usually posted on FB by Thursday and varies with the season. They sell hot and fresh (ready to go!) or frozen with baking instructions for later in the week. Hand pies keep for several weeks in the freezer. There's parking on the side of the small building and a few picnic tables out back if you want to eat outdoors when the weather is nice. I ordered 4 of the frozen mushroom brie to eat for lunch or dinners this week, 2 of the French onion hash, and 2 classic apple pie. I was disappointed to discover when I got home that I didn't receive the apple pie but at least I don't think I was charged for them. The friendly staff person may not have heard me or confirmed my order when another customer came in. The savory French onion hash was delicious but I was tasting those onions all day! Not a good option while on a date!! ;-)

What a unique little hot pie shop in midtown! The place is small and plants adorn the front window. Walking in, the fresh smell of pastries meets you immediately. Almost as a immediate was a smile and hello from behind the counter. Service at Carter and Rye was friendly and swift. The selections today were: Bourbon pecan, Raspberry for the pastries and Chicken Pot Pie or Spinach artichoke for the more hearty pies. I ended up getting a raspberry pie and a chicken one for lunch! The pastry on both was light and flaky; wonderful and delicious. I also ordered coffee which was flavorful, Ethiopian blend. I had some oat milk added to it too. The sign on the front window said open 8 am until sold out. As we were leaving (at 8:20 am), there was a line forming out in front of the place. They may be sold out pretty early today!

You're missing out if you haven't tried Carter & Rye yet. The savory crust is so addicting I crave it every week and some weekends get it two days in a row you will not regret a trip to this heavenly shop!

Cute little shop down on 36th and Center Street. It's really exactly what they say... Pie crust and filling. Was curious if the crust was more towards a toaster strudel flaky type or a piecrust. Definitely more like a piecrust with sugar sprinkled on top. Tried the cinnamon and sugar and also the strawberry rhubarb. Both were tasty! They are only open two days a week so I was glad I remembered this happen to be one of the days! Don't expect a ton of filling inside the pockets but just the right amount to make it to tasty.

I give these two women full credit for creating a remarkable enterprise. No one else in Omaha is making hand pies. They own the space, so to speak. They change the menu every week. Very creative. Hand pies and coffee is all they do. Focus. They aren't open 6 or 7 days per week. Just open during prime weekend morning hours. I'm guessing the owners have other jobs so this is a side hustle. I love the creative and entrepreneurial aspect of this business. And the food is great! Congrats to the owners. You are the spirit of America. I usually complain about prices, but after paying $2.40 for a cheeseburger at McDonald's, the product is fairly priced.

If you've had these hot pies at the farmers market, well now you can get these through out the week as well! This cute little shop, with friendly owners, serves hand pies, kind of like fresh toaster strudels, in both sweet and savory flavors. They sell out fast so options are limited later in the mornings. When we went there were brown sugar and chicken pot pie left - both were great in taste and texture!Best as a grab-n-go since there is no indoor sitting area

Carter & Rye is a great addition to midtown. Located on Center Street between Hanscom Park and Field Club, they offer a variety of both sweet and savory hand pies as well as coffee and other drinks. If you've never had a hand pie, it's a cross between a slice of pie and fresh baked pop tart. So far, I've only had the sweet ones and found all of them (rasperry, apple, and cinnamon brown sugar) to be delicious.They also offer coffee and other beverages. I can't wait to go back for more!

I live just a few blocks away and this was my barbershop when I was a kid. I have never been able to stop in but this Saturday it worked out. I am not going to lie - it looks nothing like my childhood barbershop and was very small but cute. I honestly was disappointed - there were only four choices and honestly none of then were what I was looking for, I was hungry for a basic breakfast option. These options are unique - they were intriguing and I got one of the sweet options - chocolate cherry. While this is probably not a place I will frequent - I do have to say it was one of most amazing pockets? that I have very eaten. The pastry surrounding the cherry chocolate center was the highlight - so good.

These hand pies are delicious. This morning we stopped by for a hand pie and coffee. I had the brown sugar cinnamon hand pie. It was warmed to perfection, flaky, buttery. I highly recommend stopping in to give Carter & Rye a try and supporting this small business! I can't wait to try the other flavors. They are only open on the weekends but well worth the wait.

Have you tried Omaha's newest best-kept secret? This female owned business is churning out the most delectable little hand pies each week, in an adorable remodeled storefront on 35th and Center. Get there early, or you may miss out! They are so good, that they sell out each day they are open! Flavors vary from Spinach Artichoke to Wild Mushroom Egg Scramble for savory and Peach to Brown Sugar Cinnamon for sweet. Each week this dream team comes up with four awesome flavor combos that you don't want to miss out on! Support Local, Support Small, Support Female-Owned Businesses! I can't say enough about how friendly and welcoming they were!

Not the best picture but so delicious! I've been wanting to try these hand pies for a while and finally got to at the Farmers Market! The filling was great with the right amount of peppers and onions (I don't like it when there's an excessive amount)! And the dough thats what makes these things special. It was perfectly flaky and buttery, some crispness and some softer doughiness! Big thumbs up!

I am so glad this little place came to the neighborhood. Friendly service and delicious hand pies. We had the raspberry and the chicken pot pie...both delicious! You better hurry to get yours, they open at 8 am and close when they sell out.

I almost missed the place, but found parking on the side of the building. They service was great, staff (owners?) were friendly. It's an take out place since it's small.The hand pies I got were cinnamon and ham, cheese, onion and pepper. They are very tasty, I just wish they were bigger....lol. The crust was nice and buttery, light and flaky; the fillings were generous and equally good. They do freeze well. I just hope they get some kind of signage that is easier to see. Give them a try.

I try to go to a new place every time I visit Omaha and I saw a blog review of Carter & Rye and figured I would check it out. We tried one of the savory pies (caramelized potato and onion, the other savory pie was already sold out at 11am) and a sweet (Peach). OH. MY. GOSH. So good!! The crust was flaky and the fillings were flavorful. We also got some frozen hand pies to share with family that didn't come with us and half of them pies were eaten within 30 minutes of bringing them home! And the service... oh the service! It was wonderful! You could tell the excitement for the product and the appreciation for their customers. This is a must go to place in Omaha!!

I search out their menu drop every week on Facebook, even when I'm not in town! I'm just that curious about what savory and sweet items will be the hand pie this week! Have yet to be disappointed in any of their flavor combos. We usually get one of each of the savory options and share. I am hopeful something shows up with hatch chilies! Everyone associated with this operation is so kind and appreciate your business. I highly recommended hitting this place up!

The cinnamon sugar hand pie was perfect with a cup of coffee. The sweet potato tater tot casserole had perfect texture and seasoning. We will be back!!
