Charleston Chef Robert Carter Dead at 59 | Eater Carolinas

"This neighborhood restaurant was one of several concepts the chef opened after leaving his longtime fine-dining post; it represents his continued influence on the local dining scene as an owner-operator and culinary entrepreneur." - Erin Perkins

Food was really good and the portions were perfect. One of the best BLTs I've ever had along with the pasta salad too! No complaints on service either, our waitress was welcoming, quick to take our order, and kept drinks refilled. Atmosphere was a bit sullen. Very, very quiet, some back ground music would help. Also, the restaurant was hot and stuffy. maybe the air conditioner was having trouble keeping up on a very hot/humid day or could've been completely out when we went.

Ordered this on DoorDash today. Was impressed right off the bat seeing that the food is reasonably priced on DoorDash when similar items from other nearby restaurants are at least twice as much if not more. We ordered the sausage and gravy omelette and some peach cobbler for later in the day. The food was delicious! The fried potatoes may be the best I’ve ever tried! We will definitely be trying more!

This place is absolutely amazing! Jennifer, the owner has the biggest heart! With everything going on in the world, she offers free meals for kids on Saturdays. She is just the sweetest. Our waitress was remarkable! Super sweet and so patient with my babies. We will definitely be going back.

The food and service was great. Can't say the atmosphere was anything special because it was a bit slow but I love that they turned an old hair salon into a restaurant. Great way to reuse a building. The shrimp and grits were amazing I'll definitely be going back to try other food on there menu!

My favorite local spot currently. Great food, service and it feels like a community anytime you're there.

My food had a nasty hair in it and it got in my mouth. Owner came over and told me that it didn't really matter because I would never be back anyway just because I had Michigan plates on my car. I guess it was because I had an American flag hat on because he kept looking at it and making a gesture to my hat. The food was gross anyway and it wasn't even hot. They just don't care.

Nice home cooked kind of breakfast. Sundays breakfast all day Food tastes great, great portions, the oatmeal cooked perfectly, not too runny or dry. They are a small little diner as they can only seat 30 people. Will be visiting again for a 3rd time.

Yelp
Food portions, quality. Service is friendly just the food isn't very god quality. Couldn't eat most of my food because it just didn't taste quite right. . May try again someday . Perhaps just a bad day but not really impressed.

Yelp
Fantastic. Everything is fresh and home made. Nothing from a can. Can't go wrong with breakfast or lunch. Looking forward to trying their whole menu.

Yelp
This was not a great experience! I want to start by saying that I try to support local when I can! I'm from out of town but know many people in Anderson and I think a lot of them can agree that the town is mostly consumed by chain fast food restaurants. I was really in the mood for breakfast food, and I was told about this place by a local friend of mine I just wanna say the service and staff was very friendly, and they were very pleasant and very personal. I ordered their biscuits and gravy with eggs which on their menu is listed for $9.00. Personally, I kind of thought that was a lot for nominee than what it said, but compared to some of the other items on the menu I thought it was just because of how big the portions were. I even specifically asked the cashier how big they are and she told me they're huge two piece biscuits that are cut in half made fresh every morning. To my surprise, when I got home, it look like two tiny biscuits that were burnt with a gravy that had way way too much pepper and then tiny side order of cold eggs I just called and let them know that whoever made the biscuits that they were burnt so unfortunately I really didn't get to enjoy the biscuits and gravy because the biscuits were burnt and there was so much pepper. I couldn't stand the gravy so I ended up paying $9 dollars for a side of cold eggs. When I spoke to the lady on the phone, she just said I'm sorry I'll let them know. There's nothing else I can do. If I'm being completely honest, this food tastes like someone that's NEVER cooked a day in their life. I hope that they run across this and see this as constructive criticism, and not just a bitchy customer.

Yelp
I came here for the Valentine's Day dinner with my grandparents. It's a neighborhood spot and they know the chef. The atmosphere is mild without a lot of decor or signage. I'd describe it like your typical church basement. We sat down at our reserved table and we submitted our food order prior to arriving. The only thing we hadn't ordered was our appetizer- the potato skins. These were incredible like twice baked potatoes! To drink we had a nonalcoholic punch that was so light and refreshing with a fresh strawberry. I don't believe they sell alcohol here. The food tasted homemade. I tried the prime steak. It was very rare which I wasn't too fond of but others liked it. I also had the chicken cordon bleu with a baked potato and green beans. I'd eat it again. Dessert was offered but I declined the red velvet cake.
