Family-run since 1938 on Fourth Avenue, Caruso’s embodies Tucson’s immigrant story—house sauces simmered in a legendary copper pot, patio dining, and recipes passed across generations. Arizona Daily Star coverage and Tucson Foodie features underscore its place in the city’s culinary memory.

Went on Father’s Day and it wasn’t incredibly busy. I ordered the shrimp scampi and was disappointed at the serving size especially for 29 dollars. I asked the waitress for more pasta or something and the beautiful, sweet, queen gave me an extra side of pasta w sauce. Atmosphere was okay, service was perfect, but the value is not it so I will not be going back. The pictures show the amount of food served after I took my 5 pieces of rubbery shrimp off the top plate they use to cover most of the bottom plate to look like there’s more food.

Caruso’s food is superb. But you have to be willing to wait for it … ours took 50 minutes from the time we ordered until all five if were served. I think, however, this is intentional. People seem to come there with large, noisy, families for family style meals … and they, probably, expect to drink wine and chat while the food is prepared. We did not drink, and we had a fairly short time to eat as we had tickets for a downtown Tucson concert at the Fox Theatre. We made it, in part because I finally searched for our waiter and let him know we needed our food — we had 15 minutes to eat when we finally got our food. So ‘fast’ … or even ‘prompt’ food this is not. But it is a great place for a long, relaxed, family dinner. Of course, if families who allow their children to run amuck bothers you, it would be better to ask for a seat inside (not in the garden).

Lovely Italian dinner. Loved sitting outside in the garden and the beautiful lights when the sun sat.

This is a must in Tucson. Great Italian food with a warm, comfortable atmosphere. Food was amazing, try the lasagna. Our waiter Tony was great! Very attentive, even though he was busy. You will not be disappointed.

Our family has been coming here for over 30 years! Though some things have changed over the years, the nostalgia and consistent recipes continue to bring us back. Tonight we enjoyed our second birthday celebration here this month. Our waitress was wonderful! Food was delicious! Highly recommend the six-person antipasto salad for a group!

We're promptly seated by a nice hostess. Waiter brought us water and we ordered right away because we were hungry. 22min later no bread, salad. Nothing. Walked out but left $5 for an iced tea. It was Thursday evening so not terribly busy. Our Waiter Walked buy us repeatedly. I asked for our bread but his response was as if I was bothering him. It had been a decade since I last ate there. Took my son for for the experience. Unfortunately our was terrible. Never again.

Google
I recently ate here and was so disappointed. Carusos used to be one of my favorite restaurants until I ate ( or attempted to ) eat here last Thursday. I ordered A shrimp pasta with a garlic sauce … most of the shrimp of the $29 plate was served completely RAW. My appetite was completely ruined and I left so unhappy. I’m not sure if there may have been a change in management but unfortunately the environment and the food are not the same as I remembered 😕😭

Google
My family has been going for 30+ years. It is our favorite place to go together. We enjoy a beer/ wine, always order pepperoni pizza that is consistently good, the dinner salads and salad dressing are delicious. Make sure to ask for extra dressing and dip the garlic bread in the leftover dressing. They have the best Shirley temples as well! The eggplant parmigiana is so good, and the spinach cannellone is very good. It is a must try! Dessert is pretty good too!

Yelp
What can I say about locally owned amazing restaurant! I literally grew up going here, and before me was my grandparents and parents! It's been a family favorite my whole life!! Now that I do not live in Tucson it's one of the places I go to every time I'm in town! The ambiance is great nice dim lighting makes for a little romance, of your with a bigger party the back room is lit up more! And let's not forget their back patio! It's lovely. When you walk in your greeted by amazing people they are always so happy! No matter how busy they are, and let me tell you they get PACKED LONG WAITS ON THE WEEKENDS! But so worth the wait! The pizzas are amazing they are huge. They're antipasto one of my favorites for sure a must, the spaghetti and lasagna, those are all my favorites for sure but everything on the menu is great. I would definitely recommend Carusos for anyone who loves Italian food!

Yelp
While attending the 4th Avenue Street Fair, I spotted Caruso's, and was immediately reminded of how great they used to be. So I decided it would be worth $35 for a medium 2-topping pizza to go. I couldn't have been more wrong. I could see bits and pieces of one topping, but there wasn't no evidence of the other; either visibly or in taste. I did carry the pizza on foot for a couple blocks, so everything had slid off some of the crust, but where did it go? No evidence anywhere in the box or on the remaining slices. I had been careful to keep the box horizontal. Anyway, what remained was a flavorless skimpy pizza with no redeeming qualities. At the Street Fair, I had purchased some oddities, such as edible dried crickets and homemade dog treats. My $35 would have been better spent on either of those items, because at least they had flavor.

Yelp
So I've been a little bit of a snob about the food here. I hadn't had it in years, because of a couple of just ok experiences from a long time ago. A friend of mine told me the food inspector Pima county said it was cleanest kitchen ever. You get a lot of food it's really tasty. I tried the carbonara and it was excellent and I took some home. The lasagna was amazing and the salad was really nice. I'm gonna keep coming back because the food is really good and it's a little bit of old Tucson, with all the changes downtown and on 4th Avenue, of the corporate people moving in and building all these high rises it's nice to have a little old school. I'm gonna keep coming back!

Yelp
An awesome Tucson original! Located in a very cool and eclectic part of downtown so be warned-parking is a little challenge but you'll have a great time enjoying all the little shops and storefronts if you have to park a bit away. It is well worth the walk and after their delicious authentic Italian dishes you may appreciate that walk back to your vehicle. I've been several times but today I had a new dish and was well pleased. I had the linguini with clams in white mushroom sauce and it was incredible. My friend who had never been had the Caruso special which includes 3 sample dishes and was well impressed. Serving time was average but our server was very friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Celebrating my son birthday and he picked Carusos Italian Restaurant on 434 North 4th Avenue in Tuscon. 520-624-5765. Caruso's is a very cute restaurant makes you feel at home. Our waitress Brianna, was so nice , it was my first time ordering a pizza and she was very helpful with our choices in pizza toppings and suggested certain items. She was on top of things that we making sure we had everything we needed, from refills to bread. Wonderful hospitality

Yelp
Iconic Tucson restaurant on Fourth Ave. , it's a Tucson institution. Cute interior and outdoor patio. The service was friendly and attentive, but the food needed a lot of help. I ordered the stuffed shells and eggplant parmesan, but got stuffed shells with chicken parmesan. The antipasto salad was bland and a bit boring, the sauce had a strange flavor, but the shells and chicken were cooked well. The gelato was pretty much frozen iced cream, and I wish I hadn't even bothered with that at all. I've been twice now, and I'm not in a hurry to make a trip back.

Yelp
First -time diner and not impressed. A quaint 4th generation family restaurant that lost something in the recipes in the later years. Date: July 9 Invoice # 250709-04-1 . 1 Chicken Tetrazzini made with penne pasta..okay and a sauce that tasted like it came out of a jar. 1 side of 2 sausages with sauce. The 2 sausages tasted like they had been BOILED in water the actual flavor was lost NO FLAVOR at all. The red sauce WAS good, but didn't "save" the meal. Such a shame. I get it that recipes change (corners cut) through the years . Wish I had dined here in the early years. I HAVE been to Italy 12 times, I DO KNOW authentic Italian and this was NOT IT !!

Yelp
We arrived on a Friday evening about 5:30 and were seated immediately. This is a big change I noticed because in years past, a Friday night wait for a table could be an hour or more. We chose to sit in the back patio, which was ok...table and chairs were located on dirt so shoes got a bit dusty. Brianna was our server and immediately took our drink order, delivery was moments later. We ordered dinner (there were four of us), all of us wanted the salad. Carusos has one of the best salads and dressing I've had in a long while. For those who don't like their salad "swimming" in dressing...you will not agree with me! Their Italian dressing is so good, tangy, and rich with herbs. The lettuce itself and salad overall was fresh. The salads were delivered quickly. Your table gets one basket of their garlic bread, which was room temp and a bit dry. I dunked mine in the sauce of my spaghetti. Once done with salads, we had a long wait for our main dishes to arrive. About 15, close to 20 minutes passed before dinner was delivered. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, wanted to stick with the basics and my memory of their sauce. Ok, truth be told, it's probably been about five to six years since we've eaten here, so memory could be a bit lapse. I truly wasn't impressed...I found it to lack that tangy, tomato and meaty flavor (Caruso Sauce). The noodles were a bit over cooked by a few minutes so although they weren't mushy, they were on the way past that al dente taste of pasta. The meatballs were not as I remember...they were good size but basically had no flavor. This I remembered from past because I used to love their meatballs! I'd get a couple of extra sometimes to just take them home for a meatball sandwich the next day. Overall, my meal was ok. Wife ordered the stuffed shells. She asked about just getting the shells...the menu has them listed with either eggplant or chicken. Was told, "yes, you can order just them, they aren't on the menu." Ok, so that was good but...we were charged $21, which is the cost for the shells and eggplant, so basically we paid for something we didn't get. The shells themselves were mediocre at best. The pasta shell was a bit hard and when she went to cut them in half, all of the cheese squirted out. Something off about this dish unfortunately. Friends ordered Chicken Alfredo, which was reported to be ok. The sauce was a bit gloppy and lacked a strong cheese flavor. Other friend had spaghetti with Caruso Sauce and agreed with me about the lack of overall luster. Overall our meal was a 3 star event. I think the nostalgia of the restaurant is what brought us here but we decided that quality wise, probably won't return. I do also want to say that there were other full tables around us and people seemed to be happy with their meals so this review is our opinion only! Take it for what it is. Sorry...no photos this time around.

Yelp
A Tucson legendary Italian Restaurant. The best Lasagna ever. Homemade pasta. Special homemade marinara sauce rich with meat. Reasonable prices. Highly recommend

Yelp
I learned about this restaurant from binge watching some old episodes of AZ Highways TV, where they claimed Caruso's is the oldest Italian restaurant in the state! It's been around forever and is highly esteemed, so after dozens of visits to 4th ave I finally gave it a try. What I like: Atmosphere is off the charts good. The entrance is the most beautiful property on the block, and when you walk in it feels like you're waltzing through a series of living rooms in a lavish historic home. Servers are classy and conversational. It feels a bit pricey, but the portions are gigantic--everyone will take home leftovers. I could eat their sauce for days. What needs work: The food across the board does not live up to the reputation. The antipasti was a snooze--the salami tasted bland and cheap, and the little cheese wedges were pretty mediocre as well. You could order a charcuterie board at virtually any cocktail bar in town and it would surpass this low-effort appetizer. I ordered the Lasagne Duo with a half serving of lasagna and a half serving of Chicken Parmigiana. It was drowning in that delicious sauce, but I'd be lying if I said the lasagna weren't being carried by a heaping of shaved Parmesan toasted under the broiler. The chicken parmesan was unfortunately not breaded like most places would do it, but the cutlet, although underseasoned, was cooked to tender perfection. There are some pizzas on the menu as well, but it's really basic with only a handful of standard topping options. And unlike most fancy Italian places, it's not even attempting to go for traditional Neapolitan. I am entirely uninterested. Overall, Caruso's is respectable Italian cuisine and something everyone who loves Arizona should give a chance to. But around this price range I think you can probably find some better Italian food that pays more attention to detail and doesn't coast so much on its history and reputation.

Yelp
Dropped in on a whim and had great friendly service and a great meal. It's now going to be part of my Tucson routine when I get to visit.

Yelp
This place was pretty much like I remember from my childhood. Old school, great service, and solid food. I'd say the Italian salad was fantastic. I had the lasagne as my entree and it was good!

Terry H.

Yelp
Food was good, service was good, but the the food prices are way over blown. We had a 19" pepperoni pizza and 1 order of spaghetti with meatballs with 4 drinks. After tip it was $96. I have been going to Carusos for over 50 years and now I must say good bye.

Yelp
Went in at around 730pm on a Friday evening, we got seated right away! We were seated near the front entrance, so I didn't get to see all of the restaurant, but it was very cozy and smelled amazing of course! Unfortunately the service was slow! The food took awhile to come out, the server had to assure us a couple times the food was on the way out. Also, I did have to ask a couple extra times for refills on my drink. We had the chicken Alfredo, and my husband absolutely loved it! Then we had the antipasto salad and the three meatballs with meat sauce from the ala carte menu, also extremely good. All in all, it is a great date night location, with delicious food and smells!!

Yelp
My first time here. Maybe lunchtime isn't a good time to go? Ravioli tasted frozen and was just thrown on a plate with watery marinara. I actually like the ravioli at Olive Garden better. That's saying something! My daughter got cheese manicotti and that was really good. Very dissapointed I thought this was fresh authentic Italian but tasted like something I can make at home.

Yelp
I really wanted to rate Caruso's higher -- it's a Tucson elder statesman in the restaurant scene! -- but unfortunately the service was kind of a mess and the food, while good, wasn't strong enough to pull it up to four stars. The food is traditional Italian comfort food, served in heaping portions. On our visit, I got linguine with shrimp in the mushroom garlic sauce, while my companion got the "Half and Half" of meat ravioli and spaghetti in a meat marinara sauce. We thought it was really fun that you could do a combo like that! Both meals were solid pasta dishes that hit the spot, and the sauces were truly excellent with rich flavors, but neither felt like something that we'd go back specifically to Caruso's to get again. I did appreciate the generous servings, which were enough to provide leftovers that reheated beautifully as lunches later in the week. As I said, while I have no criticisms of the food, the service was very slow and our interactions with staff felt uncomfortable. We were seated quickly, but then waited a long time for a server to come by to bring water, and then waited even longer for her to come back for our food order. We would unsuccessfully try to catch her eye when she was moving through the room, and on the few-and-far-between visits to our table she seemed irritated. I always want to give someone slack (who knows what's happening behind the scenes either in the restaurant or in their life), but the server's apparent annoyance with us was to the point that I felt like an imposition asking for a water refill, and actually apologized twice for doing so. The garlic bread is delicious (and I do love garlic bread!), and there's always a place in my heart for a giant pile of pasta, but I honestly think that the next time I'm feeling an urge for Italian and am in the vicinity of Caruso's, I'll get takeout from them.

Yelp
Food is nothing special. Ambiance is fine but dated. Service was good. Had the antipasto, basically a salad with two slices of meat, four or five very small pieces of cheese, piece of artichoke, one black olive and one green olive. Basically the only difference with my wife's salad was one piece of meat and the artichoke piece plus $5. The main entree was a chicken and eggplant caked in cheese. Cheese has a taste that isn't good and the texture was kind of gritty and chewy. Cheesecake was half frozen and crust had no flavor. Update my wife and I discussed our meals a couple of times in the days after and decided that it was overpriced with nothing justifying the price charged or even half the price. Won't be returning
google avatar

Arlen K.

Yelp
I'll start by saying the food is great. The veal parm special used tender, tasty veal. I had the seafood pasta in red sauce, and they were generous with the seafood, which wasn't overcooked. However, it took an hour from the time we were seated until the food came to the table. When it finally did, my meal was served a full 10 minutes before my partner's dish was served. That's totally unacceptable. As far as atmosphere, if you've ever been to a South Jersey Italian restaurant that's trying to be like a South Philly Italian restaurant, then you'll instantly relate to the ambiance and atmosphere at Caruso's. It is a one-and-done for me.
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely place. Stop by for dinner and it was amazing. My salad was excellent and the pasta combo with raviolis was good as well. This place is very large inside and outside. It looks like a place where families can go and enjoy not only a good meal but themselves. Especially the outdoor area. Service was good as well. If you are in the area, stop by and try one of their delicious dishes. You won't be disappointed. Happy meals!

Yelp
This place was so good last year I had to come back again this year. The service was amazing and the food was even better. The mood in here is beautiful. Reminds me of an old mob movie. Five stars highly recommended.
google avatar

Allison P.

Yelp
It was good, but nothing extra special. Comes with one free basket of bread per table. Seater was very friendly and personable, seating us in her favorite spot where you can people watch from inside. The server left lots to be desired. She almoat seemed annoyed by anything we said. Ordered the chicken parm (small, moist chicken was a plus, but no breading, covered in mushrooms under the cheese, and not much cheese) with stuffed shells (not quite stuffed and only 2). Also had the shrimp scampi. Shrimp were large and clean. Lemony scampi sauce and a small side of pasta. Italian wedding soup was good, but again not the greatest.
google avatar

Savannah L.

Yelp
Shitty management, subpar food. The atmosphere is the silliest of them all, feels like you're in a Peter piper pizza, or Chuck E. Cheese. Tables are like a foot apart from each other, so you're uncomfortably close to others. There are FAR better REAL Italian options than this joke of a place.

Mary V.

Yelp
I've been eating at Caruso's since I was a child... more than 40 years... but NEVER AGAIN! I just got charged $35 for spaghetti and meatballs and a club soda. The plate of pasta wasn't even a large plate and came with two small meatballs. Cold garlic bread was brought to the table when we sat down. My friends had lasagna, for $20 a plate which at least was worth it. My spaghetti was what you'd see as a kids entree anywhere else. I feel like I was robbed.

Mark M.

Yelp
Well my wife and I were so excited to go to carusos with a party of 14 , my grandsons graduation, use to be soo good , wow ! The server did a great job , but the food was nothing like it used to be to be , wedding soup tasted like bland water , tasteless meatballs in it , he duo I had was chicken parm and lasagna,, terrible, it's just buried in sauce, the only meal I heard was liked was cheese ravioli, only 2 baskets of bread for 14 of us , then they charge 3 dollars for another basket , there are so many Italian restaurants now I would put them at the bottom! It's a shame !

Yelp
So we arrived for dinner about 5:30 PM on a Friday night and we were seated pretty quickly to our surprise. We ordered our drinks both iced tea and ordered right away. For starters, we got the double order of the meat and cheese tray that comes with salami, cheese, lettuce, tomato beans, some pasta, lettuce, olives, very delicious and it comes with a side of dressing. The garlic bread came out with the salad nicely flavored I got the spaghetti with marinara and a side of sausage my wife got the lasagna with the meatballs. Everything was very good. The only thing that I had a problem with was it's nine dollars for a small piece of sausage, which is very heavily flavored with fennel. Other than that highly recommended to get there early because of parking, sometimes it can be a challenge especially if there's special events going on downtown.

Tiffani E.

Yelp
The first thing I ever tried was a chicken pasta dish. The taste was good but someone was very heavy handed with the Oil. I still ate it all. Next, I got the Tuscan pizza and carrot cake. Love the pizza. Crust is deliciously homemade and ingredient combo was good. Carrot cake was good and fresh. Wish they made a pizza with brussels sprouts.

Evette D.

Yelp
Caruso's iconic neon sign is what attracted me to this restaurant. I came early (4pm), so parking wasn't so bad and my service was excellent. Jared recommended a bottle of Chardonnay and added that if not finished, he'd cork it for me to go. I chose the chicken and eggplant. It was very tasty but on the small side. Same for the 4 slices of garlic bread that if I wanted more, it would cost me. I really enjoyed the Mediterranean garden and statues while dining on the patio. I will definitely return when in the area again.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Caruso's for a couple of years now. We keep driving by it and love Italian food. It has that old timey venerable look from the outside that you see in a lot of cities with their well-loved local Italian restaurants. They provide some toasted garlic buttery bread pieces to start with. My wife had the baked Chicken Tetrazzini and loved it. Lots of food here so a to go bag was necessary. My daughter had the Stuffed Pasta Shells & Chicken and I tried a bite. Pretty good. I had the Caruso Special with meat sauce and meat ravioli and a glass of Dry Chianti. Everything was as expected with great friendly service and good ambiance. Very filling and just what we expected. This place is great to try for a local long standing Italian restaurant.

Yelp
Stay away from the shrimp scampi, not good for 21 dollars , it drench in lemon juice , no flavor. Disappointed in the quality of food.
google avatar

Yelp
Carusos is a Tucson classic. They have been around forever and they were have come here for many special occasions. The ambiance feels like an intimate classic Italian restaurant. Service is typically good here and the food is yummy. They have a variety of traditional Italian dishes all served fresh. It's definitely worth checking out for a good Italian food meal.
google avatar

Yelp
I had dinner here with three friends tonight. It was my first time here in several decades. We sat on the patio outside. The weather was nice, so we enjoyed sitting outside. We shared garlic bread, an antipasto platter, lasagna and a 13-inch pizza with bacon, Italian sausage, diced onions and green peppers. I liked the garlic bread. The antipasto was OK but nothing special. I thought the pizza and lasagna were way too salty. Prices are on the high side, and you can get better Italian food at lots of other restaurants in town.

Yelp
As a native Tucsonan this has always been my favorite spot. This time I came to beau who has never been to Tucson and wanted him to try Caruso's. Since we had a late brunch we only had adult beverages and the salad which hit the spot on this warm spring day. Brianna was our waitress and made drink suggestions. I even wanted to take home the dressing and she inquire about the transport which we teuly appreciate it

Yelp
Never visited Tucson before so this was an unexpected treat for a rainy Sunday night. The mood was very relaxed & quiet when I walked in, there was also a gentleman lightly playing classical guitar which, come on now that was , the tetrazzini was delicious, over all 5/5, try it out, your stomachs will thank you

Yelp
My wife has been telling me about the lasagna at Caruso's for over 20 years. Finally we had the chance to go and see if her memory of it matched reality. I mean this is the standard by which she rated all other lasagne. Well, sometimes you can go home again. It was everything she remembered and I have to concur. It is one of the great old school lasagne. Many thin sheets of pasta layered with cheese then covered in a deeply flavorful red sauce. Baked Al forno for an amazing finish. Those who didn't go the lasagna route also enjoyed their old school classics. Clearly if you want the red checkered tablecloth Italian food experience then Caruso's is the place in Tucson.

Yelp
Location on street car route. Pasta made to order. The staff treat us like family and the food is outstanding.

Yelp
The pizza and the limoncello cake were so good! Service was friendly and the back patio area is like eating in an Italian vineyard or garden. Love this place!

Yelp
Made reservations and unfortunately had to wait 30 minutes. Waiter seemed overwhelmed. However The bread and salad 10/10. Food was ok, not as good as it use to be smaller portions. I got the seafood delight shrimp was not fully cooked. Disappointed.

Yelp
I'm sorry to place this review since we loved Carusos so much. It's hard to give it a one star, we've had so many good meals and so many memories here. With that said... We arrive and put our name on the list for 3. They advised a 25/35 minute wait. Which is pretty normal when you eat in. We waited in the lobby and time went fast. We were finally called and advised our table was ready. We sat on the back room heading out to the patio dining. There was no patio dining that night due to cold weather. So as we walked to the back we noticed that it was pretty busy. We got to our table and we're seated. Once seated it took a while before a server came over to introduce themselves and take our drink orders. (10/15mins) by that time we were able to use the restroom, settle back in and still no server. We understood they were busy but it was obvious that it was not going to be a good start to service. The server finally came and introduced themselves and took our drink order and water. We ordered a beer, 1/2 carafe of Chianti, and a Shirley temple. We assumed it was a fairly simple and easy order. Unfortunately this also took a long time to receive, approximately another 15 minutes. When the server finally came back with our drinks, 3/4 parties were sat in our area. One being a couple, and the other being a party of 8. The server finally took our order, the Caruso special, the stuffed shells chicken parmigiana, and the manicotti. Once again we felt it was a pretty easy order. Nothing special/time consuming order. We asked for bread and that also took a while. By this time I was done with my beer and requested another. This too took a vey long time (20min.) While waiting we started to see that tables that were seated 10/20 minutes after us started to receive there food. Including the table of 8. At this point it had been over an hour since we had been seated. My beer finally came and the server asked if we would like more bread no mention of when our food would be ready or if they were having issues in the kitchen. We waited several more minutes and the server would not come over or make any contact. She seemed to be busy with bigger tables and we were forgotten about. Finally, about an hour and twenty minutes into it and seeing all the tables around getting their food the frustration kicked in. The server was not coming over so I went to look for a manager (something that I rarely due) as I finally found a host to speak to a manager and walked back to our table with the host. At that time the food finally came out. I let the host know that since the food was out I would like to eat but still let the manager know about the situation. I was so hungry that I apologize for not getting pictures of the food. The Carusos special had good flavor, the manicotti looked over cooked and had some burnt spots from the broiler, the stuffed shells chicken parmigiana was over cooked. As we were finally finishing up our meal, the server came back over and apologized for the issue. And the long wait time. She let us know that they were having some trouble in the kitchen, they had overcooked the chicken parmigiana, and had to remake it. It was interesting to hear this because she never once told us that this was an issue and it looked like the chicken Parm that they gave us was over cooked already so they were having issues in the kitchen. She did let us know that they apologized and that the manager will throw in a dessert to try to make things better. We understood they were busy and that they were having issues in the kitchen, but not once did they ever relay this information while we waited over an hour and a half for our food. The manager never once came over to speak to us. The server finally took our order for a dessert and we were astonishing and confused when they only offered one dessert for a table of three. I felt that they could've at least made it better by offering dessert for each person at the table, or even possibly discounting the meal. None of this happened. It was sad because this was a special celebration for both of my special girls(my wife and daughter) for a belated Valentine's Day celebration. It definitely put a damper on the evening with the bad service and lackluster Food. I'm not sure if we will be back, this isn't the 1st time we've had subpar service at Caruso's, but we always gave it another try. But unfortunately this one was really bad.

Yelp
Great Italian restaurant in old town Tucson. We've been going there for years. Delicious ragu and marinara, pasta al dente and the lasagna is yummy!

Yelp
Great Pastas with home made sauces. Service staff was very attentive. Appears as an Eastern Italian Bistro! Checkered table cloths with the correct background music. Good selection of pastas, wines and desserts. The expresso was perfect! It's worth a repeated visit for great Italian food!

Yelp
We used to LOVE this place. Been coming here for more than a decade. The whole family would get together at this cozy spot for a nice gathering. We stopped when they took a certain item off the menu. Well... they brought it back and thus, us as well. We arrived at 4:20 (opens at 4). And there's no one to greet us. We stand around for 5pm us minutes before someone acknowledges us. Once seated we wait... and wait. The manager ends up taking our drink AND food order. Salads are now extra btw. Which we still order because the dressing is BOMB!! 45 minutes goes by and nothing.. no salads.. nada. Finally, the waiter approaches and says the meals and the salads will be coming out together. Excuse me! We proceeded to tell him not to bother with the salads, to please take them off the bill and just bring the entrées.. by now it's been close to an hour. I will say that the food was excellent as always, but the rest of the experience left a sour taste. Meh...

Yelp
We have been coming here for years, about once a year. What I like about it is that it is very consistent. Pizza was delicious and eggplant Parmesan yummy. The waitress was super friendly and attentive. Always clean, this place is our go to Italian place when we come to this side of town

Yelp
We had a table of 10, and the food came out in batches. It was 40 minutes after the first plate was brought that the last person was served. Three of us just took it to go. Worst experience I have ever had there.

Yelp
Lasagna is on point. Manicotti was disappointing. The noodles are odd and it's just swimming in sauce on a dish that doesn't contain it. Garlic bread was amazing, I just wish it was served with the meal instead of before because I had no bread left to mop up all the sauce. Service was good and food came out fast. Very loud place!

Yelp
I'm not exactly sure what's happened to their kitchen or management, but the changes aren't for the better, perhaps. The employees are still pleasant and helpful, but their takeout took a deep dive into one-starland. Truly, we'd gone for takeout 3-4 times in as many months , but tonight's order was a mixed bag. The redeeming qualities were the speed of the order (I ordered at the hostess stand and waited), the marinara sauce (excellent), the bread (plentiful) and the pleasant employees. The disappointments were the very noticeable reduction in quantity, lack of utensils and napkins, and the order was slightly incorrect. I'd ordered one special half and half with marinara and the other half and half with the garlic mushroom sauce. The entrees were both delicious, but the amount was noticeably reduced, and they both came with marinará. It was a Sunday 4:30-ish, so perhaps there were other factors behind the scenes affecting our order, or maybe just a change in the kitchen. We'll try Caruso's again, but warily. And if it's takeout, we'll check the goods before we go. $41.51 before tip.

Yelp
I love this place because of the history and memories I have there. I went here last night and honestly wasn't all that impressed. First off, the parking or lack there of, was a nightmare. The service was pretty good, the prices were a little too high because the food was just plain nothing special. I had the meat ravioli in meat sauce. It was 18 bucks for about 6 ravioli. I wanted to go here because it was one of my late grandmother's favorite places. It's just gone downhill a little bit. The lasagna looked pretty good, but my plate was just what I would consider a mistake.

Yelp
Everything was excellent - service, lasagna (my wife's meal) spaghetti and meatballs (mine) and a gluten free noodle option for my daughter! The sauce was really good! Salads were fresh and delicious. We sat outside and the ambience was perfect. We'll definitely be back.
