Scam. Their website claims each flavor is soft serve, but they only had chocolate and vanilla (other flavors available, but not soft serve). Photos on the website are not from this location as it's inside a Subway back in a corner of the shack.

The Carvel is in a subway. The prices are fair! And the milkshakes are one of the best I have had. You can turn any of the ice creams into a milkshake. They have great bogo deals! Will totally recommend the Oreo milkshake.

I grew up on Carvel & this location doesn't disappoint. Who doesn't like Sundaes, dashers, bannana barges & ice cream sandwiches.

I recently went to this Subway and Carvel and had a great time. The staff were super friendly, and the sandwiches were fresh and tasty. The Carvel side had delicious ice cream and awesome customized cakes. The place was clean and inviting after the remodeling.

As an ice cream lover, Carvel is my most favorite ice cream shop throughout the city. All the ice creams, desserts, and drinks that they serve are so delicious and tasty. Everyone here serves their customer with genuine happiness which fills the place with a comfortable ambiance. I always love their ice cream ever since I was 16 when I first visited this place. Everything about here is great, quality service, mouth-savoring foods, all at an affordable price.

I just spent $3.81 on a small cup and already regret it. The scoops are very small compared to reval like baskin robbins. To make it morse the ice cream taste stale. It's definitely not smooth or fresh. If I were bold enough I would return and request my money back. I should have gotten a cone, or sundae at Mc Donald's or a frosty at Wendy's. Way better than this. I've had their ice cream in past and it was a lot better.

Fair price for an ice cream in financial district, portions are really big for what you pay and choice of flavours should satisfy most of customers.

Worst carvel ever! I've spent hundreds of dollars ordering cakes, flying saucers and chipsters for delivery on two occasions during the last year and all of them were incorrectly made and terrible. I have been to carvel locations all across the country and they are mostly consistent. However this location "takes the cake" as being run by employees that do not care or take any pride in their work. The franchisee blames the employees but it all rests on his shoulder. If they can't make the product correctly he should be doing it himself. They have no idea what they are doing and use old products (the crunchies every time are soft and stale). Upon bringing this complaint to the owner they refunded me a fraction of the price. Didn’t even offer to remake the order because “the delivery fee was to high to resend it” It they don’t want to deliver they should turn down delivery orders. I don't know how they stay in business. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

It's not that impressive. I stopped by for the happy hour deal where it's $3 for a 12oz milkshake (chocolate or vanilla only). I got the chocolate since that's definitely my favorite flavor and unfortunately it was one of the lamest milkshakes I've had in recent memory. The shake was very runny, and the chocolate unmemorable. I finished the shake a little too quickly (partially because I wanted to get it over with). I just wonder what keeps this business going. Honestly, it amazes me that my rating is what it is even with the deal (the 12oz is usually $6). Good news is, the service is quick. And if they forget to put on whipped cream on the milkshake the first time (?!) they'll do so if you ask. Not much to say on the ambiance, it's a casual shop that's side-by-side with a Subway's.

My birthday request this year was an ice cream cake - we got a recommendation for this place from a friend. We had a good experience - they had cakes readily available the day of, and it doesn't take long for them to decorate to your liking. Everyone at the party enjoyed the ice cream cake as well - it was nostalgic of childhood. Would recommend.

Solid experience at Carvel! Came in for the Wednesday sundae special (buy one get one free) and got two fairly good looking sundaes at the end. Employee also topped both off with some whipped cream and cherry cause you have to. Will most likely come back to try the other weekday specials.

Carvel is a rip off, straight up. They consistently charge you more than they should. I went for twofer sundaes on Wednesday and got charged 8.95, when it should have been about $5.40. Another day I went for a cone at a different Carvel and they charged me $4.85, for something that is supposed to be $3.00 Each Carvel might have different prices because they are independently owned, but when they are charging you 60% more than the stated price in the store, that is theft, plain and simple. I emailed corporate and they never responded. If you still feel the need to go to Carvel, check the menu prices and ask for the price before you order. It's a shame that you have to do this.

I got a small classic ice cream cake here (vanilla and chocolate ice cream with chocolate cake on the bottom) after going first to the Herald Square location and finding out that they didn't have any small cakes available. FYI the Herald Sq location service sucks - I called them nearly 10 times in one day and not once did they pick up. Carvel's ice cream cakes are good - if you're a fan of ice cream cake, this is just a very classic take on it but there's nothing stand out to it. As for service, the guy who was helping me was great - he helped me decide what size cake was appropriate to get. He also had great penmanship when writing "happy birthday" on the cake.

Using National Soft Serve Day as the flimsiest excuse ever to go for some ice cream, I was very glad to discover a Carvel in the otherwise dessert-poor Financial District. Attached to a Subway sandwich shop in one of those really bright but somehow still depressing combo stores (more frequently seen as a Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins pair), the Carvel portion occupies the much smaller portion in the back. Though small, they still seem to have most of the great stuff you expect at a carvel, like the soft serve, some ice cream flavors including the excellent Nutella, and the incredibly sweet and tasty Sundae Dashers. In the spirit of the fake holiday, I just got a Chocolate/Vanilla Soft Serve Twist in a sugar cone with some sprinkles. The guy moonlighting as a Subway sandwich artist definitely must have been more adept at crafting subs, as he made a somewhat lazy cone, but it still tasted good of course. It's good to know this option is here when you want something lighter like the classic soft serve or a much heavier sundae or other sweet treat.

I I've been living in this neighborhood for about two-and-a-half years and this is the first time I've ever gone to the Carvel's. So I decided to take advantage of the buy one get one free Wednesday deal for Sundaes. The 'Sundaes' consisted of a cup of soft serve and one topping and they only had a few toppings to choose from. If so I'm giving this store two stars be solely on the texture of the soft serve. But the fact that this sale (FYI, a cup of soft serve with one topping out of the three toppings offered was $6.50)is a bate & switch deserves one star.

Best cake delivery NYC! My daughter goes to college in NYC and I live in Florida. I wanted to do something special for her 21st birthday. After looking at ridiculous delivery fees I called Carvel on John Street. They made a beautiful picture cake and delivered it at exactly the time we discussed. The whole process was so easy and they only charged me $10 for delivery versus $40 fees at other places that I checked.

Well that was a tasty shake. Less milk dude! But totally worth 2 bucks on their happy house until 6pm... YUMM! (This was my first time eating here)

My company has been ordering ice cream cakes from them for some time, through calling to reserve, walk-in half an hour before we need, and order ahead through a concierge service. The order is right every time, they always have what we need in stock, they're not on the phone, they have the order ready on time. If I'm ever the one to go pick up the goods and find the store to be nice, I'll likely raise to a 5-star review. Good stuff in the 'hood!

I love coming to this area on a Saturday morning because unlike the weekdays, it is QUIET here on the weekends. Since it's rare for the temperature in NYC to be in the mid-50s in the end of December, I decided to take advantage of the weather to get ice cream. This carvel location shares it's area with Subway, so you can get slightly confused when entering. It was a bit Small and the air was a bit stuffy inside. But it was quick service and that is all I care about. I got a small vanilla soft serve in a cup..(it looked more like a bowl). Plus he put it in a brown paper bag for me, how nice.

Total bs they don't put in any effort to make a decent icecream cake or provide any customer care. Asked for something to help keep the cake cold on the way home and they gave me a subway bag full of ice. By the time I got home the cake was half melted and I live on the upper west side so it wasn't even a long trip. Never going to buy from here again.

Soooooooo good!! We had this delivered to our hotel room because it was raining. Two nights in a row because it was soooooo good. So many toppings. Absolutely delicious. Delivered within 30 mins. Still cold, not melted, even with hot fudge.

This is a classic Carvel inside a Subway so clearly it smells amazing like Subway naturally does. The ice cream selection is somewhat limited as its a small location, but they had everything that my crew and I wanted so we were happy. We ordered a soft serve vanilla cone, mint chip bowl, and the carvelanche (similar to a Blizzard). The carvelanche with m&m's and cookie dough was tasty but wasn't as well made as Dairy Queen's Blizzard is known to be. My boyfriend got to the end of his cone after removing the paper cover, and it was sticky toward the bottom as if there was a lot of glue left behind from the wrapper. Clearly this is the best part of the cone, so that was a little disappointing. We'll be back probably because the location is convenient for us, but it won't be my first choice by far in the city!

Had a medium-sized ice cream cake delivered to soho and it arrived a few minutes late (no biggie) and on ice (nice!). The cake itself was really good but the writing could have been neater. Giving 3 stars because the pack of candles was missing from the order. Will order from this Carvel again if I need another ice cream cake but I'll call the store to verify everything next time.

DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN FREE CONE DAY (hence they appended 'Cake', I guess, even though they sell other things and were nasty even to the folks who tried to pay money for their product).

Typical fast food environment. Half Subways and half Carvel, this place offers the best ice cream on Fulton Street. Then again, its only competition in the area is Burger King's new sundae line... not much competition at all. Apparently as far as Carvels go, this one is reallyyy bad. Had gotten a sundae, and the caramel tasted wrong. Kind of citrusy and sickeningly sweet, to be honest. And they were out of Hot Fudge? Seriously? Gotta love them crunchies, though.

Stopped in for a quick snack, got a small size of the cookie butter ice cream. Flavor was awesome the first 4-5 bites (assuming because I was so hot from being outside) but after that it was just kind of average. It's inside a subway restaurant which was a bit different. A guy sitting down inside with the workers when I walked in gave me and my buddy some pretty ugly looks for no apparent reason and that really rubbed me the wrong way to be quite honest. Would recommend if you just want ice cream, nothing to rave about.

Very disappointed. For the slogan being "America's freshest ice cream".... The cookie butter ice cream I got was definitely freezer burnt with chunks of ice in it.

I ordered a large ice cream cake for my sons birthday with batman logo on it. I loved it more than my son. It was beautiful and the service was great. Highly recommend!

Generally I'm not a vindictive person, but this place did not participate in free cone day. So minus a star from 3 stars. Nutella Ice cream was good, and I may come back for Wednesday Sundaes. Just had to snub them, since I got all excited by the thought of free ice cream. I'm a kid, what can I say.

I've always walked by this place without a second thought. A coworker convinced me to go in today and it was a mistake. Ice cream was gross and frost bitten like it had been there for a long time. I ordered an Oreo ice cream sundae figuring that's a popular enough flavor that can't go wrong. I was so wrong. Would not come back to this location again.

Best vanilla soft ice-cream ever! Seriously! I tried the chocolate one and it was ok, but the vanilla, OMG. So soft and thick and creamy! I will definitely come back soon.

Stopped here on my way home from work and ordered a milkshake. It wasn't anything too special, and a 12oz milkshake for $5 is a bit too much even for downtown Manhattan. And to top it all of the staff was so rude, and he could barely speak English. I will not be returning. I honestly would rather pay more for a mediocre milkshake and receive better customer service.

This is the only Carvel in NYC that does customized ice cream cakes. ICE CREAM CAKES FTW!! Pick any two flavors and add oreo crunchies in the middle. My favorite pick is cookies and cream (both layers) and crunchies in the middle.

this place is horrible, its a typical place to pick up a carvel cake, but the workers here are extremely rude. i came here one time to get a last minute birthday cake for a friend. this place is half a subway and half a carvel, so when i walked in i walked straight to the back to carvel. the workers from subway were hounding me because they thought i wanted to use their bathroom, yelling at me as i walked to the back that i can't use their bathroom. like WTF!?!? It was absolutely a horrible experience. If i could give this place zero stars i would.
