At the end of a long walk I stopped at this joint with no idea what they serve. Asked one of them what the specialty is and he said the brisket roll with au jus. Took his advice and ordered it and am so glad I did. It's one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Fantastic fresh roll and the brisket -- roasted 24 hours -- practically melts in your mouth and tastes so good. I could eat one every day. They also brought me a carafe of water with slices of lemon and cucumber. Friendly service.

Google
Do Not Order the roasted veggie dip sandwich with tomato bisque! It was AWFUL! Basically boiled celery, green beans, and peppers. Luckily my friends sandwiches were much better.

Jake Jolis

Google
I had the puebla bbq brisket panini, and it was out of this world. Highly recommend. I don't think I'd had brisket before and didn't really know what to expect. This place is the perfect introduction to brisket, and now I'm hooked. Service is friendly, place is welcoming, but the food is *chef's kiss*. Going forward I plan to call ahead for takeout any time I'm in the area.

Madison Dennis

Google
Absolutely delicious and incredibly kind staff. I saw them go above and beyond for a customer ahead of me having some trouble. I'm so glad I stopped in on my walk - I've been craving those fresh sandwiches ever since!

Google
Brisket roll with dip was delicious but missing something. It's literally meat and roll, no cheese, onion, pepper or sauce in it, just bare meat. At least some horseradish on the side would be great.

irene eason

Google
The Corned Beef Brisket and Beef Brisket are yummy! These are some of the best sandwiches that I have ever eaten! Quinn made sure that my order was perfect! The finest ingredients with outstanding customer service! Nice/cool ambience too! I Highly recommend Carvery Kitchen, the Ultimate Deli Restaurant in Los Angeles!

Google
I've eaten here several times, and each time my expectations are greatly exceeded! I really like coming here because of the menu variety. There are so many options to choose from, but not too many that it's overwhelming. My all-time favorite is the brisket dip with au jus -- I like to add cheese. It really hits the spot and the portion size is great! Service is fantastic, also. Highly recommend.

Google
Here is a completely honest review I randomly order from this place when I'm in the mood for a sandwich. I ordered sliders which were delivered and the bread was over toasted so the were like rocks... I called the Manager MS. T and she not only gave me another replacement but drove over herself and delivered a choice of 2 other ones. I have never in this day and age had a better resolution of a problem . They are great and I would highly recommend this place to you !

Justin L.

Yelp
The food was exactly what I wanted, the place is clean and gorgeous, and the service was great. I'm so glad that this place is here.

Rudy M.

Yelp
I chose this out of the many that are down Pico because of the ratings. Also it was Yom Kippur so a few of them were closed for the holiday. Carvery had sandwiches but more importantly the french dip feature that I was interested in trying. While I stuck with the corn beef brisket, my girlfriend had a turkey wrap, and the two of us shared chips together. Its a small place but the guys working there bring everything out to you. I would go back and try something else again in the future.

Kevin B.

Yelp
I love the Turkey wraps here. They are Fire. We ate here a few months ago when we were shopping and window shopping in the Pico Union Robertson area lol to put it blunt. We walked inside to grab some food to eat. My second or 3rd time coming here. They have a wide selection of food to order. The bisque soup was good too. It took me awhile to grab on to the concept of eating it. But great waiters and waitresses here. Nice spot to eat inside and people watch. I will be back.

Christina O.

Yelp
I love their salmon and brisket plates, with a side of mashed potato and Mac and cheese. Service is always great, they are the kindest folks and make their food with love. I have only done take out so can't speak to the ambience. But if you want a hearty and what tastes like a home cooked meal, go here.

April G.

Yelp
I placed a catering order and their customer service was above and beyond! We loved their tomato bisque soup.

Vito K.

Yelp
The front counter worker told me they've been open for four years but Wednesday was the first time my fiancé and I have seen them around haha So we figured we'd give them a try and support a local business. Customer service was friendly. Though better attention needs to be paid. There was some confusion on the sandwich I ordered that I thought was cleared up but unfortunately wasn't. Now usually I would be vocal about things like that but when the sandwich came it turned out to be really good. So it was a decent save for them. The sandwich and soup my fiancé ordered were really good as well. I also got a cup of coffee that wasn't bad. Just wasn't a full cup really. The interior of the place is really nice and they offer outdoor seating as well. We'll definitely be back soon to try other menu items & I definitely recommend them for anyone in the area looking for a good hardy meal.

Alaa E.

Yelp
Yoooo! This joint is 5 Stars ALL DAY!!! I walked in to find a gorgeous setup AND beautiful smiles on everyone's face. The staff took care of me quick and even recommended the tomato Bisque which is sooo bomb! I ordered the 24 clow cooked brisket and a salad. I am beyond happy with not only the quality of the food, but also the energy & hospitality. Definitely a spot to you must see in person!

Eric F.

Yelp
I was looking for a good, well balanced meal, and I could not have been happier with what I got. I ordered the brisket plate with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies. For $22 including tip for delivery, I will definitely order from here again. I don't normally write reviews, the restaurants that I do review are either really really good (like Carvery Kitchen), or really really bad (sorry, no heads up on the bad ones). Apparently they have more than one location because the one on Pico is a little hole-in-the-wall joint, I don't know where the pictures of the larger one were taken.

James S.

Yelp
I like this place. Had a really good brisket sandwich here some months ago. Recently tried a pastrami. Even though I don't think pastrami is their long suit, it was still a good sandwich. I've enjoyed a French Dip here, too. In short, this place has a good handle on sandwiches, especially of the beef variety. The staff has always been helpful, even giving suggestions when you ask them. I like how they have a variety of chips - sandwiches often come standard with their chips - or for a slight upcharge, you can go a little fancier with lots of bags to choose from. They have different sodas to choose from - even Mexican coke. Carvery is in a great location - Pico and Robertson. While there's occasionally some more authentic deli food, Carvery is really not trying to compete there. They are a great place for sandwiches, and a perfect lunch choice for something quick and tasty.

Matilda T.

Yelp
I love their food, aI love their food, and I want to try the black bean chili. You are charged for...nd I want to try the black bean chili. You are charged for...

Laura K.

Yelp
Great sandwich. Only negative is the hours of operation- no weekends or evenings! Wish I could order for dinners!!

Ethan T.

Yelp
Unsure why these are called Banh Mi sliders, nothing in these sliders screamed at me culturally or had strong banh mi aspects (aside from the daikon and carrots). It tasted more of an American pulled pork sandwich, but I'm sure they have really good sandwiches - just have to give them another try eventually. The bread wasn't toasted and I felt like the repeated flavor palate didn't make me want to order it again. Perhaps redesigning this slider with more Vietnamese aspects would benefit this menu item.

Andee T.

Yelp
Delicious sandwich. Ordered the corned beef with the dip. I have never understood the making your bread soggy bread thing and now I know. The dip was amazing. Great service too.

Nick P.

Yelp
Cant go wrong with any choices here! Food tastes delicious. Customer service and the staff there are so kind. Would recommend trying them out!

Kevin O.

Yelp
Great little place, food is fresh and prepared by professional staff. Eager to accommodate their customers needs. Food is tasty and servings are more than adequate. My go to when I want something besides a hamburger.

Cris I.

Yelp
I had to visit this place twice to make sure my review will be as accurate as it could be. The first visit wasn't really impressive but decided to hold off on writing a review. I was thinking that maybe I just had a sandwich on an off day so I waited until I'm able to revisit. Unfortunately, the second visit wasn't impressive either. On my first visit I had the Bhan Mi Sandwich. It was a decent size so I was even able to share half with a friend. It was tasty but the bread was kind of hard and dry. It's that kind of bread that when you bit on it, crumbs start falling off. The other issue was the juice that was dripping from it. I would prefer this sandwich on a soft bread with drier filling. On my second visit, I had the roast beef dip sandwich. The issue again was the bread. It's probably just me because I particularly hate hard bread. Although the sandwich came packed with lots of meat, I find the roast beef kind of dry just like the bread. Dipping it in the accompanying sauce didn't help.

Marty G.

Yelp
These guys made my day today. Dropped in to pick up a brisket dip (if you know, you know, if you don't, RUN don't walk over here) for lunch. The staff member invited me to grab a seat as soon as I mentioned that I was picking up an order and immediately brought me some complementary chips and cucumber water. Such a nice touch since I wasn't dining in. Back to the important thing though, THE BRISKET DIP: amazing. They slow roast their meat. Delicious. You can get a plate with some sides, but I like it on their baguette with the au jus. The bread is so good. If you're getting sides, MASHED POTATOS.

Yelp
Really great sandwiches and very nice stuff. The restaurant super clean and they have a good menu. I think this is a great lunch place and if you like a good sandwich you should try it out

Lisa S.

Yelp
Fantastic food and even better service!! I decided to eat in and they brought me water w orange slices to my table and chips. My sandwich was big, fresh, and tasted great. There's cute outdoor seating as well. I would definitely come here again!!

Betsy B.

Yelp
Love this place! Their meats and meat sandwiches are amazing. I have tried several sandwiches so far. I really enjoyed the brisket (my favorite!), roasted chicken, and roast beef. I also tried a vegetarian wrap and it was delicious too. The staff was kind and patient. Keep up the great work

Leslie C.

Yelp
This place would have been perfect if i didn't just see a worker wipe his nose and proceed to touch someones bread with no glove. This was disgusting. The place is nice and honestly the brisket sandwich was amazing but not worth coming back to after i saw that. The worker wearing a white shirt heavy built with a belly should be talked to. Working in the food service industry this was definitely a violation. This didn't happen once but twice! He decides to wipe his nose again and proceed to refill the counter with a bag of green veggies. This whole time no gloves or washing his hands. Gross!

Sam M.

Yelp
Just hired Carvery to cater my mom's party. I can't say enough good things! The food was amazing, they arrived early and had everything expertly set up by the time guests arrived, and went above and beyond to make sure the party was wonderful. Highly recommend!

Daniel J.

Yelp
I had an OTM Club perk and decided to try the Carvery Kitchen out since I was tired of being cooped in. The offer was to try a half of their French Dip, add a side and drink for $5 more. Parking: Fairly easily considering no one is really on the roads during the current state. However, plenty of meter parking Inside: Really neatly kept with about 4 tables, so not a ton of seating. I would say this a more to go type of place Staff: The gentleman that was helping me, was very friendly, and also gave me a free taste of the mac n cheese (which was meh). Food: Now on to the good stuff! I was very intrigued to watch everything was cut in front of me, and the side avocado salad was made fresh on the spot. A+ to that! Once I got home the sandwich was loaded with meat, and soft. The juice to dunk the sandwich was hot and had great flavor, and paired nicely with the soft and lightly toasted bread the sandwich was served on. I was surprised how filling the sandwich was for being a half. The Avocado Salad tasted so fresh, especially mixed with the spices and light dressing; definitely balanced out my meal. Overall, I would highly suggest trying the Carvery Kitchen for a a filling delicious meal!

Jessica L.

Yelp
Had the fish n chips and it was incredible! Definitely coming back for more fresh potato chips they're so bomb.

Will L.

Yelp
The Bahn Mi sandwich consists of an old school, home-styled braised pork sandwich with an Amazing and satisfying combination of pickled-jalapeños, sweet and spicy bbq sauce, carrots slaw, mustard greens with scallions.. it was Good. Big plus-the owner is the sweetest lady who still puts your plate together with a smile and loves to see smiles walking out the door!!

Sheila L.

Yelp
Had dinner here because it was close to an escape room we were visiting and were pleasantly surprised by the great experience we had! The menu choices were more extensive than expected, the food was delicious, and the service was EXCEPTIONAL. Even though we merely happened upon it this time, Carvery Kitchen is a restaurant we will seek out in the future!!

Janet H.

Yelp
Good sandwiches, although service was super slow and I was the only customer at that time. I called in ahead to pick it up and still had to wait. The sandwiches came with complimentary small pieces of brownies, but they tasted stale. Disappointed in their cookies, too. So skip the dessert and just order sandwiches.

Churaqui M.

Yelp
Very lovely welcoming shop with clean restroom and delicious food! Brandon is so extremely happy and welcoming and always uplifts you when you come in! The beef brisket and dip is DELISH. Water infused with mint and cucumber a lovely refreshing plus!

Hana C.

Yelp
So pleasantly surprised at this restaurant. Really yummy food, and excellent service. We were helped by Brandon and he was incredibly kind and helpful. I definitely recommend!

Shawn C.

Yelp
I can't believe I forgot to write this review. I was here a few weeks ago. I ordered a roast beef dip to go. When I arrived it was being made. The extremely nice person behind the counter offered me some amazing chips while I waited the 3 minutes for my sandwich to be completed. The service was fantastic, so I decided to eat in the restaurant. It was clean and comfortable. The beef dip was amazing too. I'll be back!

Allan S.

Yelp
One of the best food in town. The Corned Beef Brisket Is the best and the dip is Fire! The Ruben is awesome as well and so is the Salmon. Stop by and try everything!

Tiffany B.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I had the corn beef sandwich with au jus added swiss and provolone, a Dr. Pepper some kettle chips and a toffee, chocolate chip brownie. 5 star service and the quality of the meal, the quality of the wrapping and containers, the whole presentation and experience was outstanding! I was given these 4 cookies or three in this little bag (can't remember because they were so good I ate them quickly), like how you get mints and THOSE were the best. Brandon was polite, inviting and explained the selections without hesitation. I was impressed. I do not know if this spot is new, but if you are in the area and want a place I am sure that is committed to NOT missing a beat and ensuring your satisfaction---- they deserve a try!

Darci P.

Yelp
I just stumbled on this place, went in and the worker was so friendly and nice, very rare these days. He gave us a sample of the brisket, it was delicious. We ordered the mac and cheese and the brisket sandwich. The bread was very bland, the mac and cheese was the same, we didnt eat it. the deal breaker for me was eating outside which I love, but listening to rap music with cussing and racial slurs in it up quit loud. I asked if he could turn it down a bit which he did, but we still had to listen to it. I must be old, but I felt the music was very inappropriate for this type of place, especially during the day. I probably wont go back. But again the server was a 10+.

Eric R.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place from the good reviews and tantalizing photos. Sadly, like many LA restaurants, these positive reviews are smoke and mirrors. Firstly, the prices are VERY high for the volume of meat in the sandwiches. Also, the meat quality is spotty, and frankly, it needs to be chopped or paper-thin sliced...it is not. Our meat was fatty and the roast beef way too thick. The Aus Jus had zero flavor. Next, if you run a dip shop you absolutely need to offer horseradish. This is a no brainer offering. Perhaps LA hipsters do not like/want it, but the rest of the country expects it. The service there is decent, but again, the high menu prices demand better. I will still argue that restaurants need to offer a Covid price break for customers.

T C.

Yelp
I was really hungry for something heathy ish and stopped by for their spicy turkey wrap + my boyfriend got the breakfast burrito. the turkey wrap was awesome but the best part was the gentlemen at the front. he was so sweet and made our experience great. we didn't catch his name, sadly, but we'll be back soon! edit: the entire staff was very friendly. both gentlemen behind the counter were very friendly and welcoming.

David Grahame W.

Yelp
Phenomenal breakfast burrito, which I had for lunch. Impeccable and friendly service. Thank you, Brandon. Power wrap is my next order.

Michael C.

Yelp
Had their Brisket Sandwich downtown LA at the Gas Company Tower. OMGosh was it amazing. I been in Texas for the last few months and there is a small chain of BBQ restaurants called "Rudy's " in Georgetown and Austin (lines out the door). This is comparable to their moist brisket. Amazing flavor, tender and just the right amount of marbling for flavor. I know most pop ups have high overhead costs so usually the portions are smaller and the price is higher. Not here, the lady behind the counter keep stuffing that bread with that delicious meat. The dipping juice was hot and had plenty of flavor. The bread, it is something special. The sandwich was about $8.69 + tax. (You can't touch this locally for less than $10.00) When I got up to my desk, another lunch aficionado told me to check Um out (Johnny Pong"). "Already have my friend". I challenge anyone in the Gas Go Tower (555 w 5th Street, Los Angeles) 7th & Fig. or other local businesses to try out their menu. You won't regret it. I do hope they continue to visit our location. Mike2

Rommel F.

Yelp
This place is awesome i had their Puebla BBQ brisket and i have never taste a sandwich this good , a lots of flavor, their staff is supper friendly, im glad i came in and tried out!! You wont be disappointed!

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Wow the Bahn Mi sandwich here is to die for! So good and extremely filling! The braised pork has the best flavors and juicy. It has a slight hit of spice which I love. I don't typically eat pork but I'll break that for this sandwich. Also comes with potato chips! The small restaurant has a good amount of seating and very clean. Parking isn't the easiest, but that's just LA. Great customer service too! All the other sandwiches look amazing. I must come back and try others. I'm glad they do delivery as well.

Thao L.

Yelp
The Puebla BBQ Brisket sandwich is a must get item! It's delicious with its sweet and savory notes. The brisket was tender and juicy, and the sandwich was loaded it. Well worth the $16 considering how expensive good brisket is. And the bread! I'm something of a sandwich snob as banh mi is a big part of Vietnamese culture, so I know my breads. The bread had a nice crunch without cutting up the inside of your mouth. All of this was balanced with nice fresh vegetables that provide a good crunch factor. Everything was *chef's kiss* I only managed to finish half and had the other half the next day. It was still delicious the next day! Always a sign of quality. The coffee was also amazing. It tasted like a nice Americano despite being a drip coffee. And it wasn't priced like an Americano which is another plus. The service was friendly and wonderful. The place was clean and the decor was adorable with the outside dining area lit up with fairy lights. If I was in the area or needed to cater an event, I'd definitely get food from this spot!

Eun H.

Yelp
Surprised at how good their brisket was! Like what they claim, its simply delicious! I also liked how their service is prompt! Clean place with great options. Their brisket sandwich with dip was a winner! Very tender meat and flavorful hot dip. It's a simple sandwich but there are very few shops that does simple things very well. Would definitely come back for more!

Ashley C.

Yelp
I normally shy from posting very critical/negative reviews of eateries -- but I felt this should be shared to inform. I ordered delivery and my po-boy wrap was extremely burnt, basically charred; also the meat inside was extremely salty, to the point where it felt like I was downing plain salt with no flavor. Gave 2 stars at least bc my bf's plate was decent and flavored well. Hope this is just a one-time thing, but they obviously messed up my dish and I wish they could have at least let my wrap be edible.

Peter I.

Yelp
Boy, I loved this spot until today. And today I noticed a huge drop off in quality and service. One poor guy working with 8 people in line and finally another person came out of the back to help. But, it was the quality of the brisket that disappointed me the most. In previous visits the brisket was moist and so tender it fell apart. Today's was tough and grisly. Not good. I asked for another piece because the one I got was gross and they nicely gave me a couple more slices. But, even those were not up to the taste of before. A smaller note that the soda machine is one of those all in one type and today all the ratio mixes were way off making a not so good tasting soda. Not sure I love those dispensers anyway, but if you own one....they have to taste right. Waste of $2.00. Maybe a bad day, but the signs were all wrong. Please be the place you were. One last thing. The cost for two sandwiches and sodas? $35.00. It has to be good for that.

Denise M.

Yelp
Love this place! Used to be the go to lunch when we were in the office pre-pandemic. Happy to report Carvery did not disappoint. Had a delicious salad today (pictured) and some yummy cookies. Great staff made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. Gave me some free infused water and kettle chips while I waited for my order. Great spot!

Patrick M.

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing. Cool looking place, friendly helpful staff. The food is spectacular, I had the Bahn Mi Sandwich and a side of Mac and cheese, plus they have house made kettle chips with sandwiches. Everything was perfectly made. I'll be back.

Cat L.

Yelp
Very nice curb appeal. Service was friendly. The sandwiches were delicious. The salad was pretty boring and the dressing didn't compliment it but I'd go eat there again. Beef dip sandwich was 5 Stars!

Danielle V.

Yelp
Ordered off Carvery Kitchen's "Prime Dippers" menu from the Fooda Popup today at Fox Plaza. My beef brisket sandwich was very tender and tasty. The crusty bread soaks up the au jus, and really adds flavor. Made with so much meat that I'm saving half for tomorrow's lunch. I was in line with 5 other carnivores, and everyone ordered the beef brisket, so my unscientific conclusion is that it's a fan favorite. I had a side of the red skinned mashed potatoes. Creamy, but not a lot of flavor to them. I would skip them next time.

German Z.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I've ordered catering from this place and they did not disappoint. The variety of salads , wraps and sandwiches were done very well. Not only was the food good it also was visually appetizing. Then I went into the restaurant one day for lunch and was blown away by there table service. They really give a pitcher of what I call fancy water and some kettle chips while wait for your order. I truly love this place and will be back for more.

Alexa R.

Yelp
We got catering, absolutely the best matzoball soup I've ever had. Ruined all other matzoball soup for me, I don't know if I can come back from this. I'm still thinking about it. I will think about it for the rest of my life. Egg salad??? Latkes???? Incredible, dang. Amazing

Bobby L.

Yelp
One of the best delis I have ever been to in this area. It ranks up there the staff and owners are awesome but the food will bring you back all the time. Did I forget to mention that they offer catering I got them for my daughters Birthday party and I will definitely use them again.
