The 9 Best Paella In Barcelona - Barcelona - The Infatuation

"Casa Amàlia has been around since the 1950s and is all about local community and traceability. Their digital menu shows you where their ingredients come from, down to the specific stall in La Concepció market next door. We love the Thorpedo mini sandwich, a pork rib, peanut sauce, and red onion explosion stuffed in Andalusian mollete flatbread, but the real bomb here is the rice. It’s made from Molino Roca’s short-grained Valencian Dinamita rice, which has a hollow center that allows for more absorption of flavor. If you’re like us, you might catch yourself fantasizing about the deep, earthy aromas of their Onyar-Merlès rice with duck magret, foie, and figs days later. Book a table on the terrace in the pedestrianized cobbled street that’s chic and romantic, like being on set for Emily in Barcelona." - isabelle kliger

Just had dinner here tonight. The food was superb. Everything we ordered tasted great but the standout dish for us has got to be the dessert we ordered. The texture of the flan was unbelievably smooth. Probably the best flan we’ve had in our lives! Special mention to Flor who took great care of us. Very efficient and friendly service.

Love this restaurant as it is located in a quiet passing road but not on busy road as others. We started with the Charlie Bravo - mussels with coconut and spicy tamarind sauce. It was great, especially with bread. I was advised by the waiter to order the bread with olive oil to eat with Charlie - Bravo. It was thanks to him. Then it is followed by Paella with Loster and the Octopus. Both are very tasty and we left nothing on the dish. Would recommend this restaurant. You should book in advance or you’d better come early for dinner. Otherwise it will be fully booked very quickly. I saw many groups who were refused as they came in a large group with no booking. Definitely will come back if I have chance to come to Barcelona again.

Casa Amàlia was one of the best experiences in Barcelona from start to finish. We didn't have reservation, but were lucky to find a seat. The place is nearly almost full, so my advice to book in advance. We were seated on the second floor. Staff was lovely and attentive. We tried different balls (spinach, with kimchi) and Paella (the portion is generous so we took 2 portions for 3 people). The sweet touch was cheesecake at the and. Definitely very vibrant vibe and Spanish touch to dishes.

I can say that it was an amazing experience. I was blown away by the quality of the food and the impeccable service. The waiters were so attentive and made us feel truly welcome. If you're looking for a place where everything is handled with care, this is it!

A Culinary Gem in Barcelona! Casa Amalia is nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and an ambiance that made us feel right at home. The food is an absolute revelation—each dish is crafted with care, showcasing the best of local produce and a menu that beautifully evolves with the seasons. Every bite was a celebration of flavor and creativity. What truly sets Casa Amalia apart is the exceptional service. Marina, the hostess, went above and beyond to ensure our experience was perfect. Both times we visited, we initially had outdoor seating, but thanks to Marina’s dedication and a quick chat on WhatsApp, we were seamlessly moved to cozy indoor tables. The attention to detail was remarkable—the waiter even remembered us from our first visit! This was, without a doubt, the best culinary experience we had in Barcelona. If you’re visiting the city, skipping Casa Amalia would be a terrible miss. We’ll absolutely be back on our next trip—100% recommend!

Everything was great. Ona and Alex were super nice and made us feel really welcome. The rice was delicious and the desserts were 10/10 - especially the cheesecake and the flan, both amazing. Would 100% come back.

It was a cold winter night and indoor seating was limited, so we sat outside—big mistake. It was freezing, then it rained, and the heaters and umbrellas didn’t help. Unfortunately, the staff weren’t very helpful, which ruined the experience. The food was good, but portions were small for the price. Better to stay indoors and consider the weather before sitting outside.

Casa Amalia did not disappoint. The Charlie Bravo, muscles with spicy coconut tamarind sauce was my favorite. Be sure to order the sourdough for dipping into the sauce. Seafood paella was good but a bit salty for my taste. Franco and the other servers were excellent and atmosphere was great with families, couples and singles dining at lovely outdoor tables. Highly recommend this lovely Catalan restaurant!
