Casa Amàlia sets the tone before you even walk through the door. Warm, confident, and clearly focused on quality. The staff are genuinely welcoming, and the menu shows exactly what Spanish cuisine can be when it’s done properly.
Start with “Popeye,” their spinach ball. It’s magic. So good it almost made me question my love for meat. The other croquettes are excellent too, each with that extra touch that lifts them above the ordinary.
The paella is outstanding and nothing like the tourist versions you see everywhere. Thin, crisp edges, deep flavor, and cooked with real respect for the dish. A proper flavor bomb.
Dessert seals the deal. The torrija is exceptional, Spanish-style French toast at its best. Add the chocolate and coconut crumble with lavender and saffron ice cream, and you’re in serious territory. Bold flavors, well balanced, and confidently executed.
If you love food, this is a place you should go. Honest cooking, full of soul, and a world away from the tourist traps of Barcelona.
