Located on the last floor of Maremagnum, Port de Barcelona Casa Amalia has a wonderful outdoor and indoor seating area.
✨ The outdoor terrace is amazingly beautiful and overlooks the sea. The outdoor terrace is a bit chilly in the evening, so remember to bring something warm with you. The photos come out fantastic.
✨ The service is wonderful, the staff is super friendly and helpful. They help you choose and recommend what goes with what better.
✨ The menu is digital and you can see all the necessary information about the dish once you click on it.
✨ Trying the seafood is a must. The mussels with tamarind sauce has become one of my favourite mussels I have tried so far (and I have tried a lot, as I love them). Tamarind's uniquely tangy-sweet taste enlivened the beautifully prepared mussels and gave it a special aroma and enriched it. The waiter suggested sourdough bread with olive oil to go with it, and dipping the bread in the sauce was a different level of deliciousness. The crusty and oily sourdough dipped in Tamarind Sauce created a sweet-sour-spicy-rich flavored bread, or I would say created another appetizer. The mussels were super fresh, with their texture soft and velvety with a delicate, sweet, and briny flavor. Tamarind sauce once more stressed the versatile flavour of the mussels, ideally pairing with it.
✨ Paella's popularity in Spain is not just about flavor; it's a convergence of historical origin, local ingredients, social practice and symbolic significance that makes it both a beloved everyday dish in some regions and a national culinary emblem. The Paella at Amalia is one of the best in town and you should definitely go for it, because it takes a different level at Amalia. You have a great choice of Paella with various ingredients and we went for the one with calamari. The rice was rich and tasty and the calamari was beautifully prepared, mild, slightly sweet, with a nutty flavor and a tender but slightly chewy texture the calamari was crunchy and added an additional texture. The rice was perfectly prepared "al dente" soft and moist on the outside but firm and chewy in the center. We took two portions and it was absolutely enough for three people.
✨ Last but not least the desserts - my kid went for gelato (they have an excellent choice of gelato flavours) and it was just a beautiful ending to the wonderful evening. Richer and silkier in texture than ice cream, the gelato was pure bliss.
✨ They have an excellent choice of wine (red, white, sparkling) and you can either buy them by the glass or in bottles, whichever is more convenient for you. They also have sangria, and if you have not tasted it during your stay, definitely go for it.
Casa Amalia is a place you will return to, because it has not only outstanding service, but great food and ambience as well. So, if you ever happen to be in Barcelona, do not miss a chance to visit them.
