"This casual Puerto Rican restaurant has that right combination of friendly service, great food, and affordable prices. Whether looking to order a full meal or just one of its freshly made alcapurrias or pastelillos, guests are treated like family. Don’t miss out on their tripleta sandwich, which features three kinds of meat." - Juliana Accioly, Carlos Olaechea

Google
Service was great. Food was amazing. We made a special trip here before leaving back to Texas. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Google
I came here years ago and the food was amazing and this time the food wasn’t all that. Could have seasoned it better

Mildred Monroy

Google
Its always the whole in the wall type place that always have good food!! And this place is one of them... I was recommended to come here because they have good food and OMG!! the food was amazing 🤤 definitely will be coming back for sure .. highly recommend it

ruth guevara

Google
The food here is so delicious. I love it. Everything is good here. I definitely recommend it.

Anni Rodriguez

Google
The food is so delicious, it’s about a 40 minute drive for me and it is definitely worth the drive. They do not skimp on the food, one plate is enough for 2 people but it’s so good you won’t want to share. I tried their arroz con gandules, Mofongo cups with chicken, chicharrón de pollo, and the white rice and red beans. I cannot tell you which was my favorite because everything was mouthwatering! & the service is top notch, so fast and everyone is very friendly. I ordered an extra plate to go and I went outside to drop off things in the car and was going to go back to pick up the food and one of the workers was already coming outside to bring it. 10/10 food, service and atmosphere.

Angie Ramos

Google
Good food, great taste, and quick service. Also, food to go and just as good 👍

Google
This restaurant is the best Puerto Rican restaurant that I’ve been to in South Florida. It was super packed this Sunday and we got seated very quick and our food came very fast. The food was made fresh to order. Melanie and Lily took great care of us. My favorite plate is the Trifongo🔥 the restaurant is super affordable, and they have a vest menu of Puerto Rican cuisine. I totally recommend this Puerto Rican restaurant to anybody.

Sonia Andino

Google
They don’t even deserve one star that’s not Puerto Rican food. I’m sorry they’re trying to make it but that’s not the way you cook. I’m a Puerto Rican cook and I’m a really good one. I just wanted my girlfriend. Try certain things that I didn’t feel like cooking and you know like The Fish critters, fried fish, critters delicious or disgusting horrible I tried to replace I couldn’t throw them. I had returned. The three of them couldn’t try. It was one mistake even the rice tasted about the white rice. They told I don’t know where those people are from imitating a food. That’s not Puerto Rican food Puerto Rican it’s delicious and anybody that’s Puerto Rican and a real Puerto Rican restaurant know that was some people imitating Puerto Rican food. They were horrible really bad. I told the lady I said you know, but you cannot be Puerto Rican and she laughed at me. She thought it was funny. I said it’s nothing funny about it. You guys are disgusting. You have to pay before you even eat. That’s why you do that cause you’re scammers you know the food is bad they make you pay first don’t do it don’t go. It’s not worth it believe me it’s

Yelp

Yelp
Consistently tasty PR food. I love the alcapurria and their red beans. Their times are sometimes a little off but weekday lunch is my favorite, they have good lunch specials. Parking lot has a few holes and could be better. Service is always quick and attentive. The tables are cleaned quickly by the staff and it feels very family oriented. It is small but decorated nicely and lively.

Idsia R.

Yelp
I've had my issues with this restaurant and the staff in the past but the last few times I have gone they have up'd their game the staff is friendlier the service is quicker as well, and their food is a lot better and tasty.

Linda B.

Yelp
Cozy little spot. Casual dining, order your food at counter and they bring it to your table. The best Puerto Rican cuisine I've had in Miami. The sorullitos were delicious. Honestly everything tasted amazing! Unfortunately they were sold out of the alcapurrias, but I'm excited to go back soon and try them.

Judy S.

Yelp
As you first walk to the right they have the menu and specials posted. You place your order and pay at the counter. You then get a table. When your meal is ready. A waitress brings it to your table. The wait time was not long for me. I got the mofongo with pork. I thought it was okay. It did not have that mashed, fried plantain texture. It tasted like boiled. It was a good size dish. The dish came with an almost clear broth. The mofongo was dry. The broth helped some. The side of fried pork chunks tasted good. The restaurant was cute and colorful inside. The staff was pleasant and professional

Cathy C.

Yelp
The food is ALWAYS on point! Love D dooas de gandules & D Mofongo was better than any I even had in PR recently; there was pieces of chicharon & garlic ( not over powering) it wasn't just platano mashed up. The sopas were excellent! Flavorful, rice, root veggies & gandules. The BEST food, courteous staff & the music was fabulous~ my mom starts to dance.

Pilar L.

Yelp
Not the worst but definitely lacked flavor. I've got to say, I am extremely disappointed. It really wasn't the Puerto Rican restaurant I thought it would be. The Bistec Encebollado wasn't tasty or juicy. It felt slightly undercooked & lacking in flavor. The maduros tasted like they were reheated from a refrigerator rather than cooked. Like as if they came from a frozen bag instead of an actual plantain. The arroz con gandules wasn't the best. Really bland, it lacked flavor but most of all, the Puerto Rican flare. I wanted to try the Papas Rellenas but they "didn't have any" except for the really small ones... That seemed odd & rather unauthentic of a Puerto Rican restaurant. I decided to order the Alcapurrias but they "didn't have any".... Which is why it came as no surprise the meal practically sucked because if they don't have certain things on the menu, the food couldn't possibly be tasty. It wasn't the worst but I wouldn't recommend this place. Great music choice though & lovely touches of Puerto Rico

Evelyn L.

Yelp
I went once, i was disappointed that the fritodas were fried in dirty oil, the the alcapurria were very dark from over used oil. I drove from a far. I would like to see that pr restaurants start using cleaner oils. The Alcapurria were missing Tara or yuca root. it was missing in taste:(

William H.

Yelp
This place serves great and authentic Puerto Rican food and their mofongo camarone deserves special mention. Along with the mofongo they offer a wonderful selection of food and it is hard to not find something you will like. The service was great and the atmosphere was pleasant and friendly. Always a great time and we will be back often

Alexandra P.

Yelp
My home away from home. This is THE small hole in the wall with the best Puerto Rican food ever! We ordered food to go and it is just as good weather you are eating there or taking food to go. To order we got the fried pork chunks, arroz con gandules, tostones and a Medalla to drinks. The fried pork chunks are very flavorful. Rice always has great flavor and super yummy. And the tostones are always crispy and thankfully not hard. Medalla is similar to a miller light almost it's cold it's refreshing and paired with dinner just brings it all together. It is a small place and they have tables but it's a toss up if they have any available so when you come expect to either sit, wait or take food to go. The whole menu is good. Highly recommend the place. And staff is always so friendly and welcoming.

Denise G.

Yelp
Friendliness of staff. Food was good. Ambience was pleasant. We were a group of 6 and we all enjoyed the dishes served.

Norma O.

Yelp
Best place to get a craving fixed. Is not like going to the titis house but close enough.

Vicar H.

Yelp
As a puertorrican I am saddened to do this review. It seems that Casa Borinquén is no longer a puertorrican restaurant. The name is still the same, the menu items are the same but the original taste and flavor is gone. We went on a Wednesday and half the items were not available. The excuse was that they ran out of them on Sunday... I'm sorry but that is a poor excuse. Service was acceptable. Nothing to brag about. Ordered "sorrullitos" (corn fritters) and got cheese balls. Mofongo with fried pork. Bland at best. Pork was flavorful. Second dish was grilled chicken that tasted like jerk chicken. Rice and beans was ok. Fried sweet plantains were blackened. The only thing I can say was good was the Kola Champagne from PR. The music was from all over Latin America except Puerto Rico. Last time for us!!!

Anthony F.

Yelp
Not Puerto Rican owned or run. The food has become sub par since being sold. Service is poor too.

Zaida J.

Yelp
Kind welcoming place to connect back to the Borinquen roots food is delicious and made with lots of love highly recommend

Mariangel A.

Yelp
Love coming here when I get the feeling of missing my home (PR) food is great!! Service is great! They bring the food right to your table! My favorite dish is the carne frita right after an alcapurria as an appetizer. The owners are great and both Puerto Rican, having a conversation with them makes me feel like I'm back on the island! Can't wait for the next time I go to eat

Amy P.

Yelp
I felt the food was very good. You order when entering which was a turn off because I like table service. The menu is ok with not too many food items to pick from but the portions were good. The food was hot and tasted great.

Carmen M.

Yelp
Small restaurant but has "Typical" & DELICIOUS Puerto Rican food with slamming salsa music! I love their Alcapurrias, Roast Pork (aka Pernil), Mofongo, Rices, Stews, Soups, Fried Fish etc. The food is absolutely delicious. I rated it a 4 simply because as previously mentioned, the place is small & though I absolutely love the salsa music playing...often it can be too loud & you can't have a conversation with whomever your dining with, without speaking loudly due to the music. Otherwise, love it & whenever I'm in Florida I make sure to come here! Authentic, DELICIOUS, Puerto Rican food‼

Annie R.

Yelp
You order, sit down and wait for your meal. The portions are super big. Flavorful and authentic puertorrican food. Mofongos, tripletsd and pasteles. Plus excellent alcapurrias!

Danny B.

Yelp
Food was totally burnt, not edible. To bad I didn't notice till I got back to the office $13 down the drain...

Steve C.

Yelp
Very good Puerto Rican food The acapura there's fantastic the atmosphere reminds me of the island people are very nice and prices are excellent

Carmelo A.

Yelp
Piece of La Isla, PR here in Florida Authentic and delicious food for all Priced very reasonable and get there early because big on flavor only space can be limited Que Bonita Bandera, La Bandera Puertoriquena

Monica R.

Yelp
Food was great! I thought they had servers so I was surprised you had to order at the counter and then sit ourselves. They close a little early Sundays. But nothing bad though just wasn't expecting that. Again great food!

VICKIE S.

Yelp
Yummy muy rico de lo nuestro para nosotros. Disfruta todo lo bueno, mofongo, alcapurrias, arroz mamposteao! Ay bendito. Ven con paciencia que el sitio se llena los domingos y las noches.

Vicente L.

Yelp
My go to spa when I want to remember grandma's phone and the prices is unbelievable and I was there for my birthday and they made me feel like family

Mara Robin G.

Yelp
First and last time coming here.. My friends and I wanted to try Casa Borinquen. We had to do take out as one friend had a prior commitment and was meeting us later, otherwise we would have dined in. If we had dined in I would have sent my food back. My friend placed our order on line around 6:15. We picked up our order at 6:45. By the time we got back to my friend's house, the restaurant was closed. We all had an issue with our food. I ordered the pork chop, the mofongo and a side of the yucca in garlic sauce. The yucca was dry, hard and missing the sauce. My pork chop was inedible. It was overcooked and dried out. I ended up tossing it in the garbage. The mofongo was good. One friend ordered the shrimp dish. For the money, it was not worth $18 as the dish only had 6 small shrimp. My other friend ordered the pork chop. Hers wasn't as overcooked as mine but it was dry. She also ordered red beans, which were hard and very salty. I called the restaurant today to let them know about my meal. They offered me a complimentary dessert next time I go in. I told the girl "thank you, but there won't be a next time". She came back with sorry. I feel like I threw away $20 (yes we all tipped). I rarely do take out. We should have checked our food before leaving the restaurant.

Monica G.

Yelp
Casa Borinquén has the best puertorican food! It's very traditional home cooked taste, like if grandma made it The ambiance of the restaurant is very chill, cozy, and family friendly. Their service and attention to detail is outstanding. I've catered for multiple events and they have never disappointed! I've received many compliments on flavor, presentation and amount of food. Definitely recommend the restaurant anytime.

Cynthia T.

Yelp
My husband and I went there for dinner. I ordered the trifongo with the octopus and it was very good. My husband had the pork chop with rice beans and plantains. He thought the pork chop was rather dry, the rice and beans were lacking the beans. He said he wouldn't go back, I actually would go back. A little mixed on this one. It is a pay at the counter and sit and they bring the food out to you.

Danny T.

Yelp
Tasty food, the ambience is just okay. The girl at the register can benefit from a course on how to attend to customers first upon entrance, did not felt welcomed. Been there twice. Same feedback during both visits. The food tastes absolutely awesome!

Milissa P.

Yelp
I ordered fried pork chunks got chicharron de pollo and it was overly fried . The food was tasteless . So sad cause I was feening. The morcilla was super dry and disgusting never again

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Meh, very average for authentic Puerto Rican food. The alcupurrias were good, but I wouldn't come back since it's out of the way.

Krystal C.

Yelp
Long story short: great prices, quality, and service I've been wanting to check out this place for a while and let me tell you this will definitely not be my last visit. When we walked in, there was only one person ordering. So we basically didn't wait (this is pandemic time though so lots of places aren't busy). The cashier was very friendly and helpful. They bring your food to your table after ordering. We ordered the pollo en salsa, chicharrón de pollo, alcapurria de carne, and tostones rellenos de pollo. The pollo en salsa and arroz con gandules were the bomb.com! I wasn't a fan of the alcapurria but I thinks it's more because I'm not used to eating it, not because I thought it was nasty. The chicharrón de pollo was crispy and dry, and my husband who ordered it wished he had ordered my pollo en salsa instead. They have awesome lunch specials for $8, really impressive. There are no fountain drinks, it's all in cans or bottles. They do have juices they make themselves as well. A lady came around several times checking on us while we were eating. She was so polite and sweet. She gave amazing service. I felt like I was at a hospitable aunt's house the way she was so attentive with us and the rest of the customers. I love this place. Great value and great staff.

Luis G.

Yelp
Apparently, this restaurant doesn't want people coming in. I walked up to the door, and even though the posted hours say they are open until 7PM, it was locked. I called, and they have an answering service. When I punched the number to speak to someone, I was immediately disconnected. I guess they just don't want to serve people anymore. It's a shame, their food is pretty good.

Deborah G.

Yelp
Amazing!!!! Best Mofongo and very friendly, helpful staff. All around this place deserves 10 stars!!!!!!!! Will come again.

Grace K.

Yelp
I blame my friend for introducing me to mofongo. I had a week-long craving of it, so I Yelped. Casa Borinquen is a casual restaurant in Hollywood. It has its own private parking lot, but it does get full during peak dining hours. Upon entrance, you will see the order line with about 12 tables on the left. Basically, they will give you a number to take to your table after you order your food. Depending on the time and number of customers, you might have quite a wait for your food. My first visit, I probably waited about 25-30 minutes to get my food. I wasn't thrilled about that. My second time around, my platter came within 10 minutes or so, which surprised me. FOOD: Mofongo (3/5): I wasn't a big fan of this. It wasn't good or bad... more bland and quite dry. It does come with a small broth on the side, but my satisfaction was not met. I prefer the Mofongo from "Ay Bendito con Sabor a Puerto Rico" food truck, where my Puerto Rican friend first took me. Pollo en Salsa (2/5): This was quite salty for me. I needed a gulp of water after every other bite or so. Carne Frita (3/5): About 5 pieces of deep fried pork bites! Some pieces were overcooked thus dry. The dry pieces were halfway dunked into the mayo+ketchup sauce, which helped. Maduros (4/5): Sweet plantains were great. 3 pieces of these. No complaints because you can't go wrong with these. Arroz con Gandules (4/5): It contains rice and pigeon peas, without pork. This is a signature rice dish of Puerto Rican cuisine. Full lunch menu from 11:00am to 4:00pm Monday-Friday, so you can choose for $7.95, including 1 Coke product drink!! Also, you can enjoy the 2 for $20 menu Monday-Thursday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm!! Would I come back? Only for the lunch specials

Stephanie V.

Yelp
Compré la alcappuria de jueyes y esto que me dan más maza que jueyes . Así no :-( los precios están y poquito que te sirven.

Sonia L.

Yelp
First time at Casa Borinquen, we drove from Miami to meet friends at the restaurant. Did not disappointed. I ate a trifongo with chicken breast. Great flavor, big portions. My husband had the trifongo with carne frita, and the seasoning used for the carne frita, spectacular. For sure will go back. Good food and great prices. And last, great ambiance!

Florence P.

Yelp
Puerto Rican home cooking at its best. Fresh comfort food deliciousness in a casual atmosphere with friendly attentive service. It's located in a stand alone building off of Taft St. It's has a small parking lot. The outside of the building looks like it could use freshening up. The inside is bright and clean with about a dozen tables. You order at the counter/pay at the counter, are given are number to place on your table and your food is brought out to you. The presentation was nice, unexpected for a causal spot like this. I ordered the camarones en salsa (shrimp in creole sauce) with mofongo (seasoned smashed plantains). It came with a simple side of greens and a slice of tomato. The dressing traditionally used for this type of salad is a good Spanish olive oil and white vinegar which was already on the table. The shrimp were plump, cleaned, deveined and cooked perfectly in a wonderfully seasoned sauce. The mofongo was fantastic. Not at all dry and served with a side of broth to moisten to your liking. I highly recommend Casablanca Borinquen. It's delicious homemade Puerto Rican comfort food, in a nice family atmosphere, with affordable prices and friendly service. Make sure to check out there weekday lunch menu specials and their recently opened 150 person, full service, full bar location in West Palm Beach.

Kathy R.

Yelp
Ordered the Thanksgiving special this year and I was a little worried because we always cook for Thanksgiving but let me tell you that it was amazing!!! Everyone was raving about the turkeys flavors and it wasn't dry but juicy, the rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned. We also got the macaroni salad and everything was gone by the end of the night, we even had ppl take food home. Thank you for giving us such amazing and delicious dinner for Thanksgiving 2022! I think we will be ordering again for Xmas!

Grace G.

Yelp
This place was super cute! We came on a Saturday morning at 11am and they were very attentive. I had the mofongo and my friend had sandwich de bistec! The smart thing is that they served the food in to go containers so whatever you don't eat, you take to go. The mofongo was delish but it was a lot for one person. I loved the place, I would def go back!

Alejandra R.

Yelp
Do not order churrasco, it was extremely bad! They also serve the food in top of paper so when you try to cut the meat you end up cutting paper so you have to pick the paper off the food. The churrasco was expensive and poorly cooked. I couldn't even chew it, I wish I asked for a refund but instead I threw the entire meat away it was not edible.

Ivette A.

Yelp
Food was ok but I won't return , I rather cook my self , it was a while ago but no thank you

Aj J.

Yelp
Finally I found a restaurant that has authentic Puerto Rican food inside and out Puerto Rican decor in Puerto Rican Service Puerto Rican staff Puerto Rican cook Puerto Rican delicious just like if you were on the island of Puerto Rico down to the music a great place to go to a little small but it was crowded and it was worth it. And good prices

Keishla R.

Yelp
Food was great and delicious! A little small but overall welcoming. Nice place for puertorrican food

Sonia R.

Yelp
This place used to be very good but has gone down . We bought Mofongos this past week and they tasted like pre-package and then heated .

Edgardo L.

Yelp
Real good food! Like back home... recommend to visit at least 3 or 4 times! One of the best I found in the US.

Jay G.

Yelp
Happy I saw someone else's review of Casa Borinquen. Even happier I was in the area and decided to stop in for some take out! It's been years since I had Mofongo. It won't be that long going forward. The young lady behind the service counter greeted me with a smile and "hola". I told her I'm not Latin, but am looking forward to getting their Mofongo con Pollo. Mofongo is a Puerto Rican dish with fried plantains as its main ingredient. Plantains are picked green and fried, then mashed with salt, garlic, broth, and olive oil. I explained that I don't eat pork, and she explained it to the cook. I was happy that she I ordered, she told me I could record outside and she'd bring my meal out to me. After a half hour ride home, I put 1/2 the meal in corningware and heated it back up in the oven. It was enough for 2 meals. It came with salad, so I ate that while waiting. After taking it out of the oven, I proceeded to have a great dinner with flashback memories of the last time I had Mofongo (homemade). The texture was perfect, the taste was amazing, the chicken breast perfectly cooked, the broth full of garlicy flavor. Absolute perfection!

Jen Y.

Yelp
What can I tell you guys.... this place is pretty darn good. The price is right and you can see it on the picture of the menu I am attaching. The food is delicious...I would of like it to be just a tab less salty but I can sometimes find my own meals salty lol I tried the alcapurria and the carne frita, both very good. My favorite was the alcapurrias. Expect big portions so don't eat with your eyes It is not a seat down to order place. You order as you enter and the food is later brought to your table. The service is great. They have the servers coming by to see if you need anything else often. Deffinately a spot to try out!!

Janisse R.

Yelp
I gave it two stars because our food was not good. First of all we ordered empanadilla de pizza, they were burnt. So we asked for a fresh one. And when we cut them in half, they were frozen. They said the cook needs to burn them so they cook all the way. I've been to plenty of PR spots and this is not true. Cook needs to learn how to cook empanadillas without burning them.

Michelle D.

Yelp
So came here to have a quick lunch waited at a table for almost 45 mins, when someone came in and got there food right away I knew something was very wrong. They had our food all along sitting Togo at the counter, only we did not order the food to go. It's very poorly managed and people clearing table and handing out food are not paying attention. Extremely annoying experience.
