The 10 Best New Restaurants in Rio de Janeiro | Eater

"It’s a bar, a deli, a coffee shop, a brewpub, and a jazz club, all mixed together in a charming 18th-century building located on the grounds of the Jockey Club race track and redesigned to host Casa Camolese. The all-day restaurant is the right place for an early-bird lunch or a nightcap, for a tap beer in the afternoon or a cup of coffee anytime. Salumi, cheeses, and breads (from the famous Slow Bakery) are handmade or come from esteemed local producers. The bar offerings include signature cocktails and craft beer on tap — brewed in loco. Located in front of Jardim Botânico, Casa Camolese is as beautiful as it is buzzing." - Rafael Tonon

Everything here was made fresh—the starters, entrees, and dessert. The burrata ravioli melts in your mouth. You can tell the pasta is made fresh in house—has a nice bounce to it. And the desserts are actually a thing here. Recommend the moist chocolate cake, which comes out with thick chocolate gravy warm on your tongue. Recommend splitting that 4-6 ways because it’s so rich. Quick and attentive service. Friendly staff with a smile. Lively ambiance with a lot of customers chattering. Not crazy. Great for families or young couples on a first or second date.

Such a vibey and delicious spot tucked right alongside the horse races! The atmosphere is cozy yet chic, with beautiful landscaping and thoughtful decor that gives it a natural, stylish feel. Great bar, Manouche, downstairs with all sorts of eventos. Also a lounge outside—perfect for a laid-back drink or a lively evening out. Loved the flow of the space and the unique setting. A hidden gem!

I was really looking forward to eating here after it came highly recommended. I ordered the fish with coconut rice, but what I received was a creamy cheese risotto with fish. That was a problem because I have a severe shrimp allergy, and I believe there may have been shrimp in the dish as my mouth started to itch immediately after taking a bite. When I tried to explain this to the waiter, he made me feel incredibly foolish, as if I was being difficult for asking to have the dish remade. The poor service and potential cross-contamination were extremely disappointing.

The food was good, nice place. Very pleasant outdoor space and can see the jockey club. Craft beer was not available when I was here for lunch

Really delicious! We chose ravioli and fish from the chef - our respects. The crumble with ice cream for dessert is also worthy. The coffee may not be the best, but everything else is top!

Very nice location with delicious food and drinks. However the waiting time on sundays is very long. Also the waiters not very attentive. We asked for ice because we were with a little child that hit her head and they never actually brought it. You just need patience with the place and you’ll have an amazing experience.

Very nice place, with a fancy vibe. Food was incredible. We came for lunch on a week day without reservation and table was ready inmediately. Restaurant is next to a horse riding track so you get an amazing view while eating on the deck. Prices are above average but totally worth it. I would come back and try every meal from their menu.

Camolese is a hidden gem at Rio’s Jockey Club, right next to the Botanical Garden, offering a unique blend of upscale ambiance and rustic charm. With good views of the racetrack and surrounding mountains, this bar is the ideal spot for a laid-back drink in a stylish setting. The menu showcases an excellent selection of craft beers, creative cocktails, and elevated Brazilian dishes that perfectly complement the venue’s sophisticated vibe. Service is warm and attentive, making you feel at home while you enjoy the lively, relaxed atmosphere. Even though the language barrier is there it feels non existent. Camolese is perfect for anyone seeking a memorable, scenic experience in Rio.
