Casa Coppelle

"Situated in the heart of the city, this delightfully intimate restaurant offers a number of different dining rooms, from a ‘gallery of portraits’ to the British-style library rooms and the ‘herbier’ with prints on the walls. There is something for everyone here, although every guest will enjoy the same modern reinterpretations of Mediterranean cuisine." - Michelin Inspector

Top-notch outstanding very nice French and Italian restaurant in Rome’s Historic Center. I was lucky to hear of Casa Coppelle from a person I met in Paris, who said it was excellent. She was right! Absolutely delicious bacon-wrapped filet steaks, great service and friendly atmosphere. I’ll hope to return someday.

I visited Casa Copelle based on a colleague’s recommendation, and it turned out to be a truly heartwarming experience. The owner, Rachel, was incredibly welcoming, kind, and friendly, making me feel right at home. Our waiter, Lorenzo, was also extremely helpful and attentive—he truly knows his job! Their warmth and professionalism made my dinner even more enjoyable. The Carciofi alla Giudia was outstanding, with just the right amount of salt to enhance its flavor. The Tonnarelli alla Puttanesca with tuna was a delicious choice, especially for those who appreciate marinated tuna. To finish, the Profiteroles were excellent, though I personally would have preferred a cream filling instead of ice cream. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience with fantastic food and exceptional hospitality!✨✨

Just make sure to reserve ahead of time. Food is exquisite. Highly recommend the duck thigh. One of the best I ever had. Service and presentation is 10/10. If you love onion soup, this is the right place for that. 10/10 The meatballs were delicious too. 10/10 Overall rating: 10/10

Amazing food! I had a mix of many first and second courses, not the prefixed menu. Although I don’t normally eat so much meat I had to try all their varieties while in Rome! Definitely a unique experience that showcases excellent cuisine.

Rachele and her staff did an outstanding job to make our dinner one of the best we have ever had! My husband and I were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and we had our entire family with us, 9 all together. She personally greeted us and gave me a bouquet of beautiful flowers! We were seated in their gorgeous private dining room. All of the dinner selections, along with the wine pairings, were outstanding and the service was impeccable! It was a very special evening and we would highly recommend this restaurant, particularly if you have a special occasion!

This place is a cut above most here in Rome. The ambience is great, the menu is comprehensive and the wine list will satisfy the most pedantic. The cocktails were good, even when the sommelier told me it was my third one. Bro please. Anyhow, fabulous, will recommend to all my friends!

Yelp
One of the best meals I've had in Italy, and one of the best meals I've had, ever. We had the tuna puttanesca (perfectly-cooked pasta, a rich fishy tomato sauce, a spoonful of ricotta, sushi-grade tuna; made me reconsider my hatred of olives), duck ragù gnocchi (I don't eat meat, so I can't speak much about this, but my little brother didn't love it), and the pistachio-crusted pork cutlet (didn't try this either for the aforementioned reason, but my mom liked it). For dessert, we ordered the Norwegian omelette (strawberry gelato encased in layers of dense pistachio cookie and torched lime meringue) and the kanuga (essentially a very high quality dark chocolate molten lava cake with a paper-thin slice of pear and a small but excellent scoop of pear sorbet). I would recommend drinking sparkling water while eating--I'm typically not a fan, but my brother, who works at a restaurant, mentioned that it's great for clearing the palate between dishes, and I can confirm it works. If you care about décor (I'm just here for the food, but I get that furnishing is important to people), we ate outside because the weather was fantastic, but what I saw of the inside was gorgeous. Spoiler alert--the meal concludes with a selection of tiny treats: coconut custard tartlets, white chocolate truffles, and raspberry jellies. All in all, incredible.

Yelp
Located a short walk from the pantheon this was the best food I've tried in Rome by far. To start the service was amazing we were seated quickly after arriving early to our reservation. For food we got the duck ragu gnocchi, pistachio crusted pork cullet with black cabbage, and puttanesca with tuna. The puttanesca was the best course it was perfectly cooked pasta with a heavy tomato sauce that didn't distract or dissolve from the flavor of the tuna. 10/10 perfect dish would come back just for this and the dessert. The pork cullet was very good it was cooked to perfection my only gripe with this dish is I wanted more the portions were quite small, but if you're sharing it's perfect. The duck ragu gnocchi was good, but I felt it was lacking in the flavor department. Now for dessert which was absolutely amazing we had the norwegian omelette and kanuga. The Norwegian omelette was completely novel to my tastebuds it was absolutely delicious between the pistachio cookie, the strawberry sorbet, and the torched lime meringue it combines for the perfect refreshing and sweet dessert. The kanuga which was a molten chocolate cake with pear ice was to die for the gooey center filled with warm chocolate and the crispier shell. It was baked by the gods some of the best dessert I've ever tried and to tie it all down there's a special surprise at the end of dinner. This is the number one place I would recommend this place to anyone who comes to Rome. This restaurant provides great service, good food, and an even better dessert. Be sure to make a reservation online though!

Yelp
This was by FAR the BEST meal we had during our time in Rome. The location was a bit difficult to find as it is down a small ally and our taxi driver dropped us off 2 blocks away, but they had mentioned to look for a black umbrella (really and awning). The restaurant is extremely spacious inside, which was a nice change from other restaurants in Rome where the tables are right on top of each other. We were greeted and seated for our reservation right away. The restaurant was empty when we arrived for our 7 pm reservation, but it did fill up by the time we left so I definitely recommend making a reservation. A note on the dresscode- I had googled ahead of time and read the dress code was business casual. I wore a dress and my husband wore khakis and a button down shirt. We saw other patrons wearing everything from shorts, T-shirt, hat and sunglasses to men with pants and jackets on. I would steer away from the shorts and t-shirt look, because it is a higher end restaurant, but a jacket definitely wasn't necessary. The service from the time we sat down was impeccable- from suggestions for a bottle of wine, to presentation of the food and answering questions on how much food we should order. We started with the Lobster appetizer for me and the risotto parmesan style for my husband. Then had the Cappellacci filled with chicken "alla cacciatora" (me) and the duck leg for my husband. It was the perfect amount of food for each of us and the meals were delicious. We ended the meal splitting the Fior di Fragola (Fig based desert) which was the most amazing thing we ordered- you MUST get this if you go here to eat, and the Peaches tarte tatin. lol

Yelp
Wonderful Christmas dinner. A Michelin rated restaurant. The food portions are petite but perfect for my appetite. The service is elevated. Amazing attention to detail. Ambiance is quiet quaint vintage vibe. For the holiday there was a special menu provided. We started with a Negroni, Casa Coppelle house spritzer and French 75 respectively. We also enjoyed a glass of red wine from Puglia region with our dinner choices. My husband enjoyed foie gras for a starter. Our dinner choices were cannelloni in Genovese style. Cappellaccio of pumpkin. Cod fillet "cecina" chickpeas. Casa Coppelle salad. All delicious and beautifully plated. I want a do over to enjoy a second time. Dessert was uniquely plated - Mont Blanc: persimmon and chestnuts. (See photos attached)

Yelp
A Michelin star restaurant. The food was artistic and amazing to the taste buds. The ambiance was perfectly small and allowed for great conversation. The cost was about €100 per person including wine and well worth the experience.

Yelp
Service!!! Not impressed at ALL! Slow - not attentive and waiter didn't even know what he was doing! Frustrated! Food was average.

Yelp
We dined at this beautiful restaurant a week ago while on our trip to Italy. Our trip was 12 days and this was by far the best dining experience we had. The interior was perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. We were celebrating a birthday in our family and we wanted something special. The food was beautifully presented and everything was delicious. The wine recommendation was a perfect match to our food. A special and huge thank you to Tetyana who helped me plan our special celebration by email. I was actually in contact with a few other restaurants and ended up choosing this one because she was so kind, helpful, and fast in all her replies. Made me feel confident that I am making the right choice. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great, high end dining experience.

Yelp
My husband and I had dinner at Casa Coppelle on a Sunday evening as a recommendation from our hotel. I give this place a shaky 3 stars due to the service, food, and high prices that should ensure excellence in the first 2. In terms of what we ate, the onion soup was delicious and the filet was very good; but the lobster pasta was luke warm and generally lack luster. The wine list was pricey with almost every recommendation from the (very nice) lady who helped us, being in the 90+ euro range. I'm admittedly not a wine expert, but wine lists generally include a range of types and prices, all of which the restaurant should stand behind. We landed on an excellent bottle of local white in the 60ish range, but it took some doing. The service was okay. There were people who were gracious and efficient and there was one who was not. I can't abide snobby rude service and the gentleman who was our main server was not pleasant. His behavior put a shadow on the entire experience and as such, I can't recommend this restaurant. The interior is beautiful. Dark and soothing with plenty of candlelight and comfortable velvet chairs. For me, though, the positives did not outweigh the negatives.

Yelp
A French Italian cuisine that can be interesting or bring weird results. We've been there in Christmas night so it's tough to be precise in a critic. Waiter was very helpful. Wonderful wine tip. A good and. It expensive white from Umbria! We had a good night. Could be better but worth another visit as Christina's night everything is kinda weird! Not to miss the scallops and the risotto cacio e peppe

Yelp
I recently celebrated my 50th birthday here with my family and our two tour guides and new friends Francesca and Roberto. This quaint little place made the day truly special. We started with a number of appetizers to share, the prosciutto with melon, olives and cheese, fried pumpkin flowers, and some other small deep fried delicacies which I forgot but were wonderful. We also ordered an assortment of pizza, pastas, and salads to share. Interestingly, we only ordered two glasses of wine but they gave is the whole bottle. To top it off, they came with a tiramisu with candle to sing the birthday song, plus lemoncello to finish. I can't think of a better way to spend a special day with loved ones and some new friends.

Yelp
We made a reservation through our hotel concierge who highly suggested it. Within walking distance from Spanish Steps and Pantheon the place was pleasantly hidden on the corner of Piazza Coppelle. I highly suggest that you make a reservation and dress appropriately as the crowd and ambiance demands it! Our server Sean was fluent in English and was knowledgeable about the wines and their best vintages (2014 was not a good year for Tuscan wines FYI). You have the option of Prix Fix and ordering a la carte. The portions are small so if you are there with a big appetite I suggest that you consider ordering prima and secondi plates and even add an appetizer. The candle lit room along with black and gold wall paper and intimate setting is perfect for a romantic dinner in Rome. I appreciated that they could accommodate us with a green salad that was not on the menu (but us Californians need our greens anyway!). We shared a home made Tagliatelle with duck which was generously plated into 2 portions and then we each had an upside down Branzino on a salted board. The pasta was an absolute 10 and the branzino was 1/3 of a fish along with a few vegetable. We ordered a bottle of Etna Rosso 2011 (a volcanic region in Sicily) off the menu but we were served a Faro Rosso 2011. This is the only reason that I am giving this restaurant a 4 rather than 5. Faro Wines are also from Sicily but coming from different hills of the region. Alas there was no room for deserts. The bill came just a few bucks under 200 dollars.

Yelp
Beautiful spot to dine. Impecable ambiance. Italian avant-garde cuisine. Excellent bar and service.

Yelp
Incredible ambience, however, just decent not phenomenal food. Especially because of the prices. Last time we were in Rome, we came here for just cocktails, and that seemed to be the perfect fit for the service, ambience and taste.

Yelp
If you are going to splurge on a good meal, choose a different place. Everything looks delectable, but unfortunately doesn't live up to the Michelin star hype. I had gotten the ravioli and onion soup and struggled through the meal. Dessert (tiramisu) was fair, but again not worth eating. I suggest walking a few feet and eating at Osteria della Coppelle where you will find incredible food and ambiance.

Yelp
Hands down...best restaurant in Rome. Okay, best restaurant we've tried in Rome. We came here on a recommendation from our hotel because it was close to the fountains. The atmosphere is very cozy and seems like you're sitting in a library. Like others have said, it is much larger than it appears from the front. The service was excellent and the food...the food was simply delicious. We had the escargot and French onion soup for appetizers. I had the chestnut crusted pork tenderloin and lobster pasta. OMG!!! Knock your socks off, yes it was that good. Best dish I've had since landing in Rome.

Yelp
Great attention and engaging staff. Just mind the seating along the bench, the air condition ducts rub over head, and during warm times of the season, you'll get some dew drops from the condensation.

Yelp
I came here for the first time in June, 2012 with girlfriends. It was recommended to us by one of our tour guides at the time. The food back then was incredible, we had a really great time. So, when I went to Rome again two weeks ago, I knew I had to visit this restaurant again. It was lovely. We arrived right when they re-open after siesta, at 7pm. We had the place pretty much to ourselves for most of our meal, but when we were leaving at 8:30ish, the place was quickly filling up with both locals and tourists. It's a french inspired restaurant, so don't come if you're looking for traditional Italian foods. Both times I have eaten here, it was at the end of our vacation, so they mix-up from Italian cuisine was very welcomed! All our meats were cooked immaculately. The veal, duck and fish were all so tender, juicy, warm and cooked medium (minus the fish). The sauces and garnish were exactly what was needed to make the dishes well-rounded with flavour. We did order sides because the plates come with just the meat portion, but we left satisfied. The staff were all amazing. They were patient, friendly, quick when need be, and welcoming. We had our main waiter, but all the staff were helping out at one time or another. One criticism: they could afford to add a few vegetables to the plates. A few green beans, carrots or whatever would go a long way! Also, there is not point in writing what we had, cause the menu changes constantly. But they really push the envelope with their dishes so take a peak at the current menu before sitting down.

Yelp
Lovely place. There are 3 seating areas with different decor and mood between casual and romantic. We couldn't make up our mind about the selection and ended up having a full 3 course meal with dessert. Every one of them delicious. Service is highly attentive

Yelp
This restaurant is one of the best of Rome. I would go back to Rome just to have dinner here again. The prices are decent for the amount they serve. I'm glad we walked into this restaurant while trying to find another restaurant. We had a dinner outside, I would recommend a dinner inside since the inside is really gorgeous. The staff was very friendly. At first we were created with a kinda look if we were certain that we wanted to eat here. (Mainly probably cause we were wearing attire fitting to the summer days in Rome.) The service was excellent in the end, after we ordered. (Probably cause the staff noticed we didn't mind the price set of this restaurant) We ordered appetizers to start with, I had beef tartare and my girlfriend had ham with buffalo cheese. I tasted her dish and it was excellent. Then we had a main, I had the tournedos and my girlfriend the entrecôte. As a dessert o had the Paris Brest and my girlfriend the creme brûlée. The food is excellent! The menu was created by one of the best sous chefs in Rome. This is really shown in the quality of the dishes that are being served. The place really has class and can be definitely be seen as a great place to enjoy dinner. I will definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
Ambiance... such a beautiful place that you can never forget. I started with the half moon pasta and it shoved its way into my mouth until I could see the white of the plate and my main course the beef filet wrapped in bacon was better than it sounds. Believe it or not it's possible. The drinks were lovely and the wait staff was second to none. If you're in Rome and willing to spend 300 euros on a group of 4 you will not regret it.

Yelp
ZERO STAR if giving zero was an option. Horrible experience!!! We arrived at the restaurant and were poorly served by the hostess and a waitress. It was at dinner time on the 17th of January, 2014. We decided not to eat because we did not like the service and the attitude of the employees. Without going into too much detail the staff was pompous and made comments in Italian that were demeaning, little they know I am fluent in Italian. NOT recommended! DO NOT EAT THERE if you like prefer to be treated respectfully!

Yelp
Our third time in Rome, my husband and I would only be there for one night and wanted to have a relaxed, romantic evening. We were staying in our favourite place, right beside the Pantheon, and wanted to eat somewhere close by. We thought it might be a bit challenging as it's such a touristy area, but we were lucky to find this gem. It's just a few minutes walk from the Pantheon, tucked away on a side street on the minuscule Piazza delle Coppelle. We arrived very shortly after they opened and were lucky to get a table outside. It was a gorgeous evening. There are only a handful of outdoor tables and they are very close together. I walked through the restaurant later and it was a lot more spacious than I expected. Gorgeous, too. Don't hesitate to dine in the restaurant if outside isn't available. They have a great wine list and their own sommelier, but we settled on a half bottle of house red for 9EUR. I didn't write down what we had, but looking at the menu now I'm sure we had the Rigatoni all'Amatricianella (Rigatoni Amatricianella style with cherry tomatoes, Norcia Bacon flambé with Cognac) and the Rigatoni amatriciana con guanciale di norcia (Rigatoni Amatriciana style with Norcia bacon and spicy tomato sauce). Both dishes were fresh down to the very last ingredient and oh so delicious. I wish I wouldn't have been so full, because I would have loved to order more food here! Service was fairly prompt and friendly while still being professional. I'm looking forward to dining here again the next time I am in Roma.

Yelp
One of the best service we had in Italy. The wait staffs were very attentive and accommodating when we requested to switch seats inside due to Mosquitos. Inside feels like a trendy library. Our favorite dish was the ravioli with pesto sauce..half moon ravioli was really good as well. Did not feel like a tourist trap.

Yelp
Every dish was perfect! The service is also great. Friendly waiter that helped us decide which dishes to give us the perfect variety. I would defiantly recommend this place if your looking great food, good quantity and taste!

Yelp
This is a great restaurant not far from Rome's popular Piazza Navona which was highly recommended to us by another American couple we met in Florence. The interior is more like the inside of someone's elegant home, with lamps, bookshelves, and framed photos on the walls. The background music the night we visited was jazz, which was a nice change from "O Sole Mio" and "Volare" and the other popular songs that strolling musicians in the Piazza Navona think tourists want to hear. Service was attentive and friendly, and our entrees were excellent. I had a very good Niçoise salad, and my husband had beef fillet simmered in blackberry sauce and grappa (an Italian liquor). There are also several French specialties on the menu such as bourguignon, tournedos, and beef fillet in puff pastry. The wine list was extensive, with a nice selection of wines listed by region. (They had several varieties of Brunello di Montalcino from the Tuscany region, a robust red made from Sangiovese grapes which has been aged for at least four years and which is our new favorite.) The only drawback was that service became much slower as the restaurant filled up and we had to wait a half-hour for our tiramisu, which turned out to be the only disappointing thing we ate in Italy (a thin layer of cake at the bottom of a glass with a custard-like filling on top). It also got rather hot later on, since they had seated us under a track light at a table up front where we didn't get any of the air conditioning from further inside or any of the breeze from the open door. (This was in August and the temperature was around 100°.) But hey, this is Italy, where it's not their fault it's hot and where things take time because they like to enjoy life, especially meals. And even the greatest restaurant can have a so-so item on their menu. I plan on visiting Casa Coppelle again when next in Rome and I would definitely recommend it to anyone else. However, I would allow plenty of time for your meal, and you might want to request a table further inside the restaurant or else outside on the outdoor patio. I will also try another dessert the next time I visit - they also had fruit tarts, crème brulée, chocolate mousse, and chocolate fruit fondue on the menu. But I will definitely be back. All in all, one of the best restaurants we tried in Italy (which is saying a lot).

Yelp
This was our last meal in Italy and was our best in Rome. Granted I think we just had really poor luck with decent food in restaurants. The grocery store meat counters were the AWESOME though, varied cured meat for a few euros. We pointed and held up fingers per 100 grams but I digress... We had the Osso Bucco and the Amatricianna. Trust me when I say that nothing better than pig cheeks bacon, except maybe bacon. Know beforehand that like most places there is a charge for the bread, which was actually decent. What was surprising was the absence of a "copperto" and "servizio", former is a sitting fee charge and the latter is tacked on service fee. They will sit you in front if not so busy but the back room looks really cozy. Two entrees and 2 glasses of wine and water will set you back roughly $68 given the current exchange of 1.36 usd to euro

Yelp
This was our last meal in Italy on our honeymoon and it was quite a treat! We expected it to be pricier than our other meals but really wasn't - we had an appetizer, two meals, bottle of wine, two bottles of water and dessert for 98 euros (or about $130 US) - which wasn't a ton more than we paid at other quality restaurants. We ate inside and the décor and lighting were excellent. Our waiter was more attentive than other restaurants in Italy and we really loved our meals. I had the veal and my wife had a pasta dish and they were fantastic, as was the chocolate dessert we had. Wonderful meal all the way around and then we took a short walk to the Piazza Navona / Trevvi Fountain, and was a delightful meal followed by a great walk to a great area. We highly recommend this restaurant for a really nice meal in Rome!

Stacey L.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant with friends last night. We Really enjoyed our evening although we found some of the waitstaff to be a bit snobby at times. The food was what you paid for -it was more expensive than a lot of places I've eaten in Rome, but it was definitely good quality. The restaurant had a lovely ambience and would be a great choice for a special occasion dinner. If you were being picky you could say that there wasn't much room around your table and you were quite close to nearby diners but I wouldn't go as far as saying it changed my overall view of the experience. The food was great and that's my priority!

Yelp
Amazing, completely amazing food! We happened upon this restaurant and it was the food highlight of our 18 day trip through Greece and Italy. We highly recommend!

Yelp
I went here on my last night in Rome for one last nice dinner in Italy. I ordered a 4 course meal and a 1/2 liter of house red wine. Everything was absolutely wonderful about my experience; food was amazing, atmosphere was nice, staff was good, wasn't TOO busy. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to get a great Italian meal while roaming Rome!

Yelp
Amazing food and very intimate atmosphere. The bruschetta was light and fantastic! The Ossobuco was the best I've ever tasted, and I've tried Ossobuco in many fine places. It was fork-tender and cooked in a tomato/vegetable sauce so good you will want to take a bath in it. The rabbit confit was also amazing - so tender and the flavor was rich without overpowering the flavor of the meat. Our meals were so good we didn't have room for dessert, but can't wait for our next visit to indulge in more good food!

Yelp
Great Great restaurant with a particular menu, excellent service, very friendly staff, I would go there every night if I could... delicious... also a good spot for groups, the place is pretty big but also a great atmosphere for a romantic date :)

Yelp
Amazing food. Great service. Loved it. Yes a bit expensive. But this is fine dining. Don't forget the desserts.

Yelp
Looking for a decent place to eat, we found this spot of concentrated dining and drinking. Quite a few restaurants are scattered around the piazza and the small streets around it. We went straight for the pizzas, and they were awesome - thin, crisp and balanced topping, just like a Roman pizza should be.

Nicole L.

Yelp
So we ended up here because it was close to the apartment we were staying at. Excellent decision! It was DELICIOUS! The atmosphere of the restaurant itself was just perfect. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and she absolutely loved everything from the crowd to the food. We had two good bottles of red wine. We started off with the Penne Arrabbiata, really good! I had the Filleto di Manzo al Barolo and she had the Filleto di Manzo con crema di patate e pepe rosa. Both steaks were cooked perfect! We even ended up meeting a newly wed couple there from the US and made a rockin' birthday party with Limoncello and a tasty chocolate cake mousse to end our night! Overall, our experience was wonderful. Recommend by both of us!

Gary K.

Yelp
My wife and I were there in 2011 and it was one of the most romantic restaurants in Rome. The food was terrific and the staff was mindful and sweet. We started our trip with Casa and we had to end our trip with Casa.

Lisa K.

Yelp
we were late for our dinner reservation, but the staff welcomed us anyway. We were seated promptly and were provided a few recommendations from the menu. I was offered a glass of Prosecco (To find later was no charge). We started with the Beef Carpaccio which was an excellent start. The flavor of the olive oil combined nicely with the roasted peppers, olives and almonds. For the 2nd course, we had the shrimp risotto. It was creamy with a generous amount of shrimp. Then we had the beef filet and beef tournedos. Both cooked beautifully to medium rare and with an abundance of flavor. Dessert was an apple crumble with an almond ice cream. The ice cream was delicious. Service was friendly and on point. The owner was there when we were leaving and was grateful we had patronized the restaurant. All in all a wonderful dining experience.

Yelp
Refined ambiance and delicious food! The menu is pricier, but the food is high quality.

Yelp
Ate at Casa Coppelle for my birthday and was not disappointed! Living in Rome, there are so many gastronomic choices around every corner and many are a huge disappointment. Not so here. The bread was amazing, the artichoke tart divine, and the blueberry risotto inventive and molto buono. The service was wonderful and the ambience was perfect. All in all, a fantastic way to celebrate my birthday. Can't wait to take visitors to Casa Coppelle. Oh, reservations highly recommended.

Yelp
Amazing experience from the food to the ambience, we really really enjoyed it! The decor is spectacular and the food was incredible! My most memorable meal in Rome for sure! I would definitely recommend this place especially if you wanted something more refined with no compromising on the food! Oh and definitely choose something from each section it's worth it!

Yelp
We went here on the recommendation of our hotel. It was our last night in Italy after 10 days in Tuscany. The meal was extremely disappointing. The food sounded much better on the menu. I am fairly easy to please and love food and wine, but I had to review this restaurant because it was not up to snuff. My cannoli starter was pasty and dry, and my husband's squid was fishy. The sea bream was incredibly boring with only a drop, literally, of sauce on the side atop a piece of frisée with a few cherry tomatoes on the side....and again, pretty fishy. My vegetable side dish was better than the main course. My husbands beef was well cooked but coated in a mountain of frites and just nothing to write home about. The waiter became increasingly pushy and didn't even let us see the wine list, instead insisting he choose our wine. They pushed dessert (which was also boring), cocktails and moscato and basically tried to upsell the entire menu. The best part about this restaurant was the decor. Bottom line: overpriced and nowhere near as good as other food we ate on our trip. If you want a world class dining experience in Rome, or even a very good one, go somewhere else.

Yelp
This is a terrible restaurant! It was the first place I ate at in Italy, and WOW was it disappointing. I can find better restaurants where I live. The service was terrible; we had to ask for the menu 4 times before the server remembered to bring the menu, once we were ready to order, no one came to take our order and when we asked our server if we could order, he seemed annoyed and said he'd come back and never came for 20 mins. Not only that, there was a LADY BUG INSIDE MY SALAD and I saw it as I was about to put it into my mouth. When I mentioned the lady bug to the owner, she had no remorse, she never apologized, and she said she'll discount the salad dish by 50%. In addition, she said "bugs are good for you! they have protein!" and she wasn't joking at all. So I told her she should try it then and asked her how she would feel if she found a bug in her food and she sarcastically said "Oh! I don't mind! So, hurry up and pay". Not only that, she was yelling at ME. SHE was yelling at ME for a mistake her restaurant made! And no apology. Quite ridiculous. Not only that there were two people sitting next to my table and they saw me freak out about the bug and asked me what was going on. After I told them, they told me how they were SO disappointed in the food as well and both of them didn't even eat 1/4 of their dish. THIS is what the restaurant is like. Not only from my experience, but from others that I met there as well. Please don't go to this restaurant. I left a bitter taste in my mouth and because of it I never want to go back to Rome.
