First time and won’t be my last! Had a great dinner at Casa Corona last night. Started with a spicy skinny margarita, and it was HUGE and strong. I didn’t understand the maraschino cherry, would much prefer lime wedges. The chips were crispy and delicious while the salsa was just fine. Ordered the Tres Amigas enchiladas and they did not disappoint. The beans and rice were delicious, and the slaw was a stroke of genius. I will most definitely be back!!

Google
Used a Groupon and got a good deal on the food and it was easy to use. The food and service was good, no complaints there. However, instead of raising their menu prices they have decided to charge a blanket “service fee” instead. This was not advertised anywhere and we only found out about it once the bill came. This is deceptive pricing and is the only reason I’m giving them less stars. This soured our experience. I’m paying for the service of dining out with the menu prices and gratuity, I should not get hit with a secret charge at the end just because they don’t want to raise their menu prices.

Wow. I love this place so much. Finding authentic Mexican on the North Shore can feel impossible, which is why walking into Casa Corona was such a relief. It's the real deal. Great salsa, authentic recipes, good vides. I would love to just sit here.

Andy K.

Google
My favorite Mexican take out ever! This is a hidden gem for takeout. The food is incredible, with huge portions. And the price is more reasonable for takeout than pretty much any place around. They don't skimp on the guacamole or salsas. When I ordered tacos they included chips and salsa with it which was a nice surprise.

Google
Good American Mexican restaurant. Cute decor. Friendly staff.

Google
Presentation was great. Taste was okay. The protein portions were very small. Prices of food are going up. But I'd rather pay more for a decent portion. Than have a small piece covered with cooked vegetables. The service was very slow. Seemed like they were short staffed. We had 3 tables for a large group. The middle table was very wobbly. Very uncomfortable to eat. Other than that it was a nice family dinner. Drinks were good.

Google
Tasty, authentic Mexican food in a nice relaxing setting with great service. The tortillas and salsa were so good, we got a second serving. Then for the entrees we loved the Al Pastor Tacos, as well as the margaritas. The kids really enjoyed the quesadilla and burrito from the kids menu. Cannot wait to return!

Google
We always have a great time at Casa Corona. The food and service are both excellent. Their mole sauce is remarkable! The atmosphere here is fun and festive. Recommended!

Greg A.

Yelp
Fajitas are amazing. Ceviche is tasty and is almost too much to feast upon. Reasonably priced as well. Well stocked tequila bar .

Jeff

Yelp
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I have been eating here for years and slowly and surely this place has folded into an absolute disaster. Dirty. Bad service. 0 respect for customers. Sad to see such a beautiful place turn into an absolute dumpster.

Roger L.

Yelp
Food is delicious. Service is fast. Good music and ambiance. Always happy when we go here.

Amanda P.

Yelp
Use to come here very often. The food prices have gone up but the quality has only gone down. Very tiny portions now and lack of flavor.

Yelp
Wow is the one word to describe Casa Corona!! Super hot food, giant margarita, yummy chips...everything thing was 5 stars. My new favorite place! Off the main drag in Marblehead but easy to find. Loved everything about my experience there.
google avatar

Kristian B.

Yelp
This place remains my fave for Mexican on the north shore. The food is great, the service is fast and the staff is so friendly and attentive.

Dale S.

Yelp
The food is excellent, the service is very good, and ambiance is okay. But ordered gluten-free (medical) and had a reaction within 10 minutes of eating. sick for two days despite taking enzymes to counter the gluten. I suspect the corn tortillas were cross-contaminated or had gluten in them.

Yelp
This place rocks. It's some of the best Mexican food I've had. It really has so much flavor. This is such a hidden gem in Marblehead. We have been a few times in the past couple of months and every time we leave so happy and full! The service is awesome. And the restaurant is just a few spot. So happy we discovered it and can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Criss R.

Yelp
This place is like home. We eat at all of the family's restaurants. Tortilla Soup is a meal in itself for $6.99 The Mole is Dona Julia the mother's recipe
google avatar

Jean Jenny S.

Yelp
Bland would be an upgrade for this food. Being Hispanic and eating in many Tex-Mex restaurants, I can say this place is lacking in the flavor department. The atmosphere is amazing. Music, Decor and Service are 5 stars. My arroz con pollo had very little rubbery chicken pieces. My sweetheart had very greasy beef tacos. So we will not be back again.

Reese T.

Yelp
This place is a little hidden gem! Very small, cozy, family friendly place to dine. Friendly and wonderful service. Quick and efficient the food and drinks kept coming. Delicious quality Mexican food in the North Shore! Make this a frequent visit, I know I will.
google avatar

Shelia D.

Yelp
I don't like to post bad reviews but I feel strongly that other visitors to the area need to know this isn't very good Mexican food. When we go on vacation to other states we rely on Yelp reviews to help us choose food options. So I feel like others do the same. We are from Texas...so I guess I shouldn't compare the 2. It's more like apples to oranges. But this was terrible Mexican food. And...to top it off they got our order wrong. Nice people though.

Sheila C.

Yelp
Great little local tavern. Nice people. Great Skinny Margaritas! My go to for chips and salsa! I especially love the Soups!
google avatar

Richard S.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican restaurant that delivers very good food at reasonable prices; Family friendly with full bar. Chips with salsa served up front and dishes are prepared quickly. We spent a little over one hour for dinner and with 2 drinks each, tab came to just over $63 dollars. Plenty of street parking and this time of year, avoid Salem.
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
I would give this a negative score if I could. Bad service, bad food, I can tell it was heated in a microwave, not fresh. Drink manu does noy display prices. Very sketchy. Margaritas sucked really bad. And they charged my credit card a hidden service fee. ITS ILLEGAL TO CHARGE A CREDIT CARD FEE IN MA, DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU CALL IT "REWARDS PORGRAM" . I called the manager to talk. Dude was getting drunk at the bar talking to the waitresses, he did not want to come to talk.. What kind of stablishment is this???? Please DO NOT COME HERE !!!
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
This turns out to be a big nope! I was looking forward to this as yelp said 4 stars! It started out promising with the chips and salsa that had a little heat to it, but went downhill from there. The steak Paisano was so over cooked (asked for med rare and came it well done) and hubby said it tasted like dirt! He never sends back food and will usually just tough through it, but he did with this entree. The waiter was very apologetic and offered to get another but he decides to get tacos instead. Note: tacos are hard shell. The enchiladas were lacking and the chicken was so dry as was the rice which seemed like it was old. It was crunchy! The saving grace was the retried beans. Perhaps we went here on and "off"day, but very doubtful we'll be back. I give this place 2 stars because our waiter was very nice. P.s. The bathrooms (which were very clean) are very small, you almost have to sit sideways because your knees hit the wall! Yikes!

B S.

Yelp
Place has gone downhill. Got the fajitas. They were disappointing. They put carrots, cauliflower and zucchini on the skillet. Never seen that before. Also asked for steak and shrimp. They brought chicken and shrimp. The nice thing is that they didn't charge me for this meal. Also the salsa didn't work for me. It was liquid. I prefer chunky. So that may have influenced my assessment. But really not much flavor.

Yelp
I was very excited to try after reading the reviews, so my wife and I ordered takeout from them last week. I got enchiladas Mole, my wife got a burrito (I specifically asked for it with only steak, cheese, rice and beans) and my daughter got a quesadilla and French fries. Upon opening the bag of food, we immediately discovered that they have trouble taking orders at this place as my wife's "burrito" (I'm throwing up the quotation marks here cuz this was more like an oversized enchilada with no sauce) was covered in olives, and topped with a scoop of guac and sour cream. The guac was a pleasant surprise but all other Ingredients were unwanted and this was stressed when I called my order in. After making this discovery, we sat down and started eating. Here's my breakdown: Cons: -chips taste inedibly stale, salsa very spicy -burrito bland and steak overdone -mole enchiladas w/ "grandma's recipe tastes like it came out of a jar. Zero depth to this sauce, it was the biggest Pros: -fries were good -asked for meat on side with kids quesadillas and it was good and they gave a lot of it Don't think I'd get food here again....

Yelp
Surprisingly awesome hole in the wall Mexican joint located next to the Marblehead Post Office on Smith Street. This was my first visit. The staff was friendly and service was great. I ordered the Grandma's Pork Enchiladas and the dish was splendid. Large chunks of pork with spicy green chili and a big scoop of guacamole garnish on top. Plenty of free parking here. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes!
google avatar

Erin O.

Yelp
Got their flank steak burrito as my takeout choice last weekend and it was really good. Steak was super tender and flavorful, and the meal was literally three meals for me. Guac and chips were good, the only thing that was a bummer was we ordered chips and salsa and got two bags of chips and a tiny little sauce container of salsa.. maybe that was a mistake but if it wasn't that seems very odd for a place that literally serves free chips and salsa when dining in and we paid for it and basically got nothing. Wont stop me from getting takeout again and next time I'll just ask for an appropriate amount of salsa.

Yelp
I do not understand all the 4 and 5 star reviews. I was really excited to check this place out, but my experience was strongly mediocre. The chips and salsa were the highlight of the meal. The salsa was spicy and savory. My partner and I both ordered enchiladas. The Chile Verde one was the better of the three varieties, as it was a good level of spicy and tasted fresh. I was very excited for the mole sauce but found it strangely sweet compared to other mole sauces I've tried. The refried beans were typical and the rice was fine. The service was slow. We had to remind our server about our order of cheese sauce (which had the taste and consistency of slightly spicy velveeta) and then waited for a long time after we were finished before being able to catch the server's eye. I think it's because we were given a high-top in the bar area and the waitress had to cover both the bar and her service tables. I don't blame her, but it made for a long and sub-par experience.

Marc F.

Yelp
What a wonderful and awesome Mexican dining experience!! The food was truly spectacular and our waitress Erica Nunez was especially kind and was a real servant. We were celebrating a birthday and we have never experienced how the waiters and waitresses made us feel so special.
google avatar

Jordan W.

Yelp
Awesome AWESOME authentic Mexican food. We did a lot of research on where to go for food on our day off and it did not disappoint!! We drove 45 minutes, ordered the queso, a chimi and burrito. All were fantastic. I'm not usually a fan of red sangria but they let me taste it first and ended up having the half craft of it. Our bartender Adan was fun and readily available. Will DEFINITELY make the trip again
google avatar

Kyra V.

Yelp
I love Casa Corona. The staff is always incredible kind and attentive and their mexican food is superb! I typically order the mole enchiladas, which offers more than enough excellent food for me meal and for leftovers the next day! Their margaritas are good & strong, as I'm sure are their other drinks. Great place for a group of friends, family, or date night!
google avatar

Karen 2.

Yelp
the food is not very good or authentic tasting. the hours are nice and they're open pretty late which is convenient.
google avatar

Artie D.

Yelp
Check out this burrito chicken and shrimp authentic and delicious!! Don't be fooled by the "strip mall" storefront
google avatar

Emma W.

Yelp
The service was slow even though we were the only ones there. My cheese quesadilla was burnt and waaayyy to greasy. As you may know I also rate the water I get, so I give this water a 6/10 because the taste was not so good, you could definitely tell it was yucky tap water, but the rating is so high because it was a big glass and had a plastic straw. Other than that we waited about 15 minutes for a plate with like 8 churros.
google avatar

Yelp
Full REAL bar means they can make REAL margaritas - * side note- if the place has only beer/wine- that means they dont have a liquor license, that means they cant make a real margarita because real margaritas require tequila . * This is the most authentic Mexican food place I've had in BOSTON. Period. I'm sure its not the only one but its the best one I've had. Real Mexican food. Real Mexican dishes. Quality is great- Service is great. We had a margarita each - Camarones Mexicano ( mexican shrimp) and I had Huevos Rancheros ( eggs wh salsa on top of eggs wh a side of rice and beans) i paid extra for a side of carne asada - its my version of steak and eggs... my god was it good... Do yourself a favor and skip ALL the other "Mexican" places on the north shore and get yourself to Casa Corona .
google avatar

Lourdes V.

Yelp
Look at the size of the margarita and mojito!!!! My husband and I love this restaurant not only the service is very fast and the waitresses are so kind, the portions are huge!!!! This is also an authentic Mexican restaurant, every time I go and I try the mole, it reminds me of my grandmas secret recipe. Definitely a must go!!!!
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
Amazing! I could not say enough good things about this place. Food is authentic and so so flavorful. I day dream about the seafood burrito. Drinks are strong and supper fresh tasting (I got the house margarita). Number one Mexican place north of Boston in my opinion!!!
google avatar

David I.

Yelp
Felix, is a great restaurant owner. A little tough in the beginning, no liquor license, they have a full one now, they rock the drinks. His staff is very is friendly/welcoming. I know, I know, I started talking about a restaurant by talking about the staff, great group of people. The food, everything and I mean everything, is made to order. My wife tells me she has never had carne asada better, anywhere else.

Michelle M.

Yelp
Mexican food is our thing, we order at least twice a week and have been very happy with our regular spot, but it's nice to try something new too. This place was so disappointing. We ordered take out and got the chicken fajitas(well done) and they were AWFUL. They were drowning in oil and what we could taste didn't taste like traditional Mexican food at all. It wasn't edible and sadly was a total waste. See the pictures below to see the amount of oil that came with the order. There was at least a cup of oil in the pan. I emailed the owner to let him know and still no reply. I wasn't looking for a refund or anything, but just letting them know the issue. Try Lupitas in Lynn...soooo much better
google avatar

Johnny F.

Yelp
Very good food, large portion size and authentic. Best Mexican food I have found since I left Texas. Our sever needed a little reminding to bring more drinks and salsa.
google avatar

Paul A.

Yelp
Came for lunch. My third for lunch. Asked for chorizo, which most authentic Mexican spoys have. Ordered a chimichanga with spiced ground beef. Service quick and the order came in five minutes. Three other patrons were there so the place was empty. The plate was very hot and nicely laid out with avocado, sour cream, rice, retried beans and the chimichanga. All good but the ground beef was flavorless. Also they served hot nacho chips with salsa prior to the main serving. They now have a full service bar. Will be back and try other dishes.

DaShawn L.

Yelp
I've been trying to find a go to Mexican restaurant in the NorthShore for about 9 months now and stumbled across the best one I will recommend! From the staff, the food, and the prices - you can't beat it! The complimentary salsa and chips, best of the best. Has a nice ass kick to it so be prepared for that. Really awesome staff, that's what keeps me coming! 5 stars no doubt

Lily A.

Yelp
Either the menu prices are flat out wrong or I was overcharged here the other night. My fault for not being more vigilant. Coming from a restaurant with really low prices, 1 taco salad, 1 chicken burrito, & 2 frozen margaritas should not equal $60 from here. Too late to re-do but make sure you check your charges on the bill before just slipping in your card.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Well cooked, Tastes like Mexican. Good music Nice decor Friendly staff Decent prices

Ross D.

Yelp
I have been going to Casa Corona since the beginning of the pandemic. Every Tuesday my family gets a 'Taco Tuesday' lunch, and they love it! There have been a few times that our order was wrong or we had issues with the food, but the customer service is outstanding and we will continue to support our wonderful local Mexican food place! Can't wait to pick up our lunch today from our friends at Casa Corona! Happy Taco Tuesday

Chuck A.

Yelp
I have eaten at Casa Carona several times with my family and have always been satisfied. I have a proectblem with people who admit that they have eaten at a place weekly for months and after having a less than perfec t experience write a scathing and hurtfull review. at a time when these hardworking people are struggling to survive.

Megan C.

Yelp
Don't order online, you'll show up after having already paid and they'll say they didn't get it and then tell you to wait while they make it and be really rude about it. This has happened twice to us. If you order on the phone double the expected wait time they give you so you don't show up and have to stand there waiting for your food for 20 minutes.
google avatar

Mario V.

Yelp
Best Mexican in the area. Very nice and hard working staff. Authentic Mexican experience. Pretty much everything on the menu is good. You can't go wrong. Drinks are good and cheap.
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
I honestly don't understand the amount of reviews that gave this place 4+ stars. I have only been once and I can say I've had better, the beers a cheap, and I didn't get sick. It's your average semi-authentic Mexican food. It's def a place where you can take the family but in all honesty the tacos came out soggy and the beef wasn't flavorful. It was the kind of meat you just dump hot sauce all over to give it some type of flavor. However, some cole slaw came on my plate and it was some of the best slaw I've ever had!

Misdizz C.

Yelp
This was my go to Mexican fare...our last experience...well lets just say was inedible...the meat was so tuff...it was unchewable...and tasted awful...the tortillas where gummy...just awful..the margaritas tasted like they were made with powder mix...the owner wasn't there...but his staff should be trained better...unless thhey are under new ownership...I also got siick...my husbsnd did as well...so good luck if your going.. Shame...I loved this place..

Yelp
Just had dinner with my wife and two children. Service was excellent - prompt, friendly, and accurate. They also refilled water and sodas several times and brought a second helping of chips and salsa... Chips and salsa were a big hit, as was the side of fresh guacamole. Salsa's were homemade and fresh -- they brought both spicy and mild... The kids meals and entrees we got came out quickly. The mixed fajitas and spicy pollo chipotle dish we got were tasty -- the sauce on the chicken dish was awesome. I loved the refried beans and rice -- reminded me of the sides you get at authentic Mexican restaurants in LA. Refried were made from scratch -- not a can like someone thought. I was excited to see they had dishes made with home-made mole'; will try next time. Prices were very reasonable... I'm shocked by a couple people giving this place one star... I think it's because people don't know what authentic Mexican food is supposed to be... One guy thought the beans came out of the can - wrong. Just the opposite. Also he mentions poor Margarita mix -- they don't have a liquor license -- so it's possible he's confused and not reviewing the right restaurant... The other negative came from someone who thought the Mexican restaurant that used to be in Marblehead was good -- that place was truly lousy and served inauthentic "Gringo" Tex-Mex. Lots of chile powder, as though that's Mexican food. People think Mexican food should be hot, bold and spicy -- but that's not the case with the real deal... So, perhaps, there's some confusion. If your expectations are in order and you like genuine Mexican food, you should be quite pleased with this place.

Yelp
Good margaritas, nice staff. Loved the ambiance. I had the wings because I wasn't trying to eat an entire meal.
google avatar

Katherine D.

Yelp
Service: The employees are very nice and extremely attentive. Food: To be honest their "carne asada" is the best I've ever had, other than that I think I'd pass on everything else on the menu. Drinks: One thing is for sure they have the best house margaritas in my opinion! (Reason I keep going back)
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely a hidden gem. The staff is Mexican from the host down to the cooks... meaning this place Is pretty authentic. I've tried other "Mexican" spots in the Salem/Beverly area but this place is a lot better. The food tastes a lot more authentic and The drinks are strong and done well. They take pride in their service. One time we even stayed until almost 11 pm (they close at 10) and they didn't even kick us out. Staff is super kind. Only reason I don't give this a 5 is due to small inconveniences we've experienced here that I feel are not even worth mentioning but only a perfect spot deserves a 5. Definitely worth trying. You will not regret it.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
The best little Mexican restaurant I've found to date. Great menu, always piping hot fresh food served. Free chips and salsa topped off with cheaply priced cocktails that taste delicious. All of the staff are friendly and very attentive. I'm a regular and not ashamed to admit it. Love this place.

Yelp
Casa Corona I believe to be the real deal, and I'm happy about it. No more fast food Mex for me, thank you very much. From the North Shore Dish: "Brothers Felix and Jose Bracamontes, previously of Mexico Lindo in Melrose, have just opened the doors of a new Mexican restaurant, Casa Carona". I ate dinner for the first time this evening. Ordered the chicken tacos mole poblano. Just delicious, the sauce a nice balanced blend of sweet and spicy. Refried beans and rice and shredded cabbage accompanying the tacos were fine too. I ordered desert, which I normally don't do at a Mexican restaurant. The flan was so smooth and fresh tasting, I rank it up there with the best I've had. BYOB is now available, with the liquor sales beginning a while after that. If my next few visits match this one, I may have to go 5 stars.
