A Quest For Ximbo, Chicken Barbacoa, in the Bay Area | Eater LA

"I often pull off at Casa de Fruta off the Pacheco Pass for a quick, nostalgic pit stop — on this trip I grabbed some novelty blackberry wine — it’s one of the handful of reliable roadside stops that break up the monotony of the I-5 drive." - Bill Esparza

After Renaissance Faire this is the perfect place to stop for dinner. The prime rib was perfect. Only about a 20 minute wait on a busy weekend night! Our waitress was superb, I think her name was Amy? She gave the best service! Love this plaza! Has a candy store, great general store, and a carousel and park area for kids!

$13.96 for a roll of Duct Tape....I made a round trip from Fresno to San Jose to pick my son up from college for the weekend. Long story short.... I couldn't move out of the way fast enough and hit something in the road that caused a piece of my bumper to hang down. I stopped at the gas station to get something to hold it in place so I could make it home safely. I was taken back when I was told the price for the roll of duct tape. We have always loved this place, even though we don't shop there as much due to the increasing prices and after today we probably won't ever go back.

This has been my family's place to stop for 15 years! Now, I stop with my own kids everytime I head up North to visit my sister in San Jose. They have several stores and attractions. They have bathrooms that are always clean and shaded parking for those hot days! They have a wonderful pond full of turtles and fish, a carousel, a train, and resting areas to relax and enjoy your treats. Nothing is cheap here but there are great gifts and nostalgic things worth the price. There's a great Wine selection too!

The only place to stop on our way to Carmel, it is slightly better than a truck stop for food and service but is set up to empty your pockets as a tourist trap. I am not a fan, but can only drive so far at a time due to back issues. Diner food, ok service, decent grounds to walk around, over priced nuts and produce.

I love stopping by Casa de Fruta, it’s always a good time. They have a cute little pumpkin patch every year that’s definitely worth a visit. Although the patch is small, the pumpkins are cute and cheap. The inside is so clean and aesthetic, and they have a wide variety of local and organic products.

Always love stopping by after camping trips. It’s a nice little stop for snacks food, and other things like wine and fruit. I love the sugar free chocolate but they are about $20/lb. Must stop here! The train ride is cute and fun for like $5/person.

MIST VISIT! This was a fun stop that I have passed by for years because I didn't know they had so much to see and do!! We walked around the property to stretch our legs and saw so many things they have to offer..... Playground Sluicing (mining for gold) Carousel 🎠 Trains to take pictures with Trains to RIDE! Wild Life (LOVED THE TURTLES) Restaurant Fruit stand with lots of snacks. Ice Cream shop Wine & Deli Water Mill Dog park poop area Huge parking for cars RVs big trucks Inn and Cabin rentals And an RV Park.... Wow The Train Conductor was so friendly and happy to talk with us. I got a video of him getting the train ready for the day. THANK YOU CONDUCTOR sorry I forgot your name. We will be back for the train ride. We are planing a day trip with our dog so we can spend more time here. We didn't get to experience everything because it was a quick stop to our destination. The chocolate covered strawberries are a must have treat! Delicious 😋 We spent around $10 for the cup & was worth it. Parking is free We will be back!!!

I came here super late at night to rest, and tried to get a room which ended up not being a vibe for me, but they were so sweet and refunded me with no issues at all! Alyssa was sooo chill and the manager as well. 5 Star Service ⭐️
