Nine Places to Order Mexican Favorite Tamales in Las Vegas

"The charming restaurant serves tamales four ways: with chicken and green sauce, pork with red sauce, cheese and jalapeños, or pineapple and raisins. For a little extra kick, diners can try them enchilada style. Diners can order tamales at any of Casa Don Juan’s three locations including one in the Arts District right on Main Street." - Krista Diamond

The Essential Mexican Restaurants of Las Vegas

"Located in the heart of the Arts District, Casa Don Juan celebrates the work of Mexican artist Frida Khalo. One of the few spots to offer tamales by the dozen also offers a classic Mexican menu with soups, tortas, and tostadas on it — most dishes come slathered in melted cheese and with sides of rice and beans. Three locations across the city feature this abuelita style of cooking." - Janna Karel

Where to find the best off-Strip Mexican restaurants in Las Vegas - Eater Vegas

"Located in the heart of the Arts District, Casa Don Juan puts as much reverence for the culture into the surroundings as it does the food. Art celebrating Mexican artist Frida Khalo is as deliberate as the menu. One of the few spots to offer tamales by the dozen also offers a classic Mexican menu with soups, tortas, and tostadas on it. Had dinner here last week. This restaurant is located on Main street in the Arts District. Love their beautiful murals on the outside. They have outdoor and indoor seating and a cool vibrant decor. The service was outstanding, very friendly and prompt. The food overall was good, the shrimp tostadas made with an extraordinary amount of shrimp, very generous, the burritos were also very good. The margaritas were decent, and a good pour. Only drawback is if you’re seating outside they did have a flies problem unfortunately which made it quite unpleasant. Overall prices reasonable and a good place to grab a bite.

Google
Really good and authentic Mexican spot! The food was delicious – fresh ingredients, great seasoning, and the vibe was just right. Service was friendly and attentive too. One unusual thing: the bill already included an 18% tip by default. It was clearly marked in yellow, so definitely not hidden, but still a bit unexpected. Overall, definitely worth a visit if you’re into real Mexican flavors!

When a local cab driver tells you where to eat, you listen. That’s how we ended up here. And just wow. This place is all about real Spanish food — no gimmicks, just solid, comforting dishes done right. The Menudo (soup with beef tripes)!!! I always order this when I see it on the menu and it’s so good!!! I would come back just for that soup alone. As for the main course, portion sizes are exactly what you’d expect in the States — jumbo. You won’t leave hungry. Really good food in a spot locals actually recommend. And now me haha

Google
We tried this restaurant out on a whim while exploring the arts district, and I have to say 10/10! I knew from the complimentary chips, salsa, and beans that it would be good. We got the two enchilada plate and the shrimp burrito, both were delicious. Our server Ruby was also really kind and made us feel right at home. Definitely will come back again!

Google
Food was good and service was superb. There was a Karen at another table complaining about there was no steak with her chilaquiles. Servers said her plate had steak but she claimed there wasn't. It was weird but staff handled it professionally.

My mother and grandma ate here 2 years ago and brought me this year! It was beautiful when we walked inside, we were helped right away and seated quickly. I got the enchiladas, they were so yummy!!

My wife and I went here for date night and I’m so glad we did! The chicken fajitas and the shredded chicken tacos were amazing. By far the best fajitas I’ve ever had! Highly suggest you visit! They also had a photographer taking date night pictures and it was awesome!

Google
My go to spot for food in the Arts district (I’ve tried other spots but keep coming back here) flavorful, fresh food, and great value. Our server Jessica was really helpful with menu options and service. Overall great experience as per usual.

Yelp
Great food and great service! Located at the heart of downtown Las Vegas, Casa Don Juan has an extensive menu and awesome drinks! *IMO the Pina Colada was better than the Margarita I brought my family here for their vacation. They did not disappoint

Yelp
We came in here on a Friday night for dinner and it was kind of empty. It wasn't loud, it was just right. Service is always great. (3rd time coming here) When we're in Vegas we always wanna give it another try. The food was okay. My brother got a lemonade and it wasn't good at all, it tasted like the lemons were way too sour with that old after taste. He got an horchata instead and that was better. It was 6 of us, we each ordered a plate plus drinks and our total was around $400. I think it's a bit pricey here, and the food quality isn't there. Don't think we're stopping by again the next time we're in Vegas.

Yelp
Went at 11:00 on a Thursday for a lunch experience. Shocked to see that they had no lunch specials on their menu like virtually all restuarants do on weekdays! $20+ for a lunch meal in the middle of the week? Ridiculous. Then, after we had consumed the small basket of chips, the server informed us that a second basket would be a $2.50 charge! No thank you! Food was OK, but not worth the inflated prices that have occurred since reopening after Covid! Tip suggestions started at 18% (and included the total bill, not the pretax amount.) I probably won't be back.

Yelp
Really didn't want to come back here as I gave them a 3 star last time. We were sat immediately, was brought out drinks fairly quickly with complementary chips, salsa and refried beans. Inside was very loud with music playing and people speaking very loudly. Water had a weird taste to it. Server was very loud and pushy for us to order. Menu is very over priced for the quality. Children's menu is $10 and up for 1 taco, 1 Bean and cheese burrito, 1 enchilada, 1 small tortilla quesadilla. The hamburgers were over $11 and if you want cheese $13 the chicken strips $13. Unbelievable! What we ordered: Burrito puro carne: $18.99 (El Pastor) Small burrito, pork didn't have pineapple only chunks of onion and meat. Good flavor of achiote Signature Carnitas Plato for 2: $40.98 Dry meat, asked for more chips and was told it was extra charge same with tortillas. Surprised that they didn't charge for the limes they gave me. Silverware at the table was filthy, I asked a lady for a new one and she huffed at me. I don't want to eat off a fork that has someone else's food stuck to it, no thank you. Daughter needed more napkins and commented if they would charge for that too. We were also interrupted by a lady taking photos and we didn't want it. She still took photos of us and came back again with print outs we said no thank you and she was pushy saying I'll give you all the photos for $15 no go away we are eating our dinner not looking for a photo shoot. I knew from my first review it wasn't going to be any better, and husband didn't want to walk a few blocks. So I gave it a second chance and another disappointment. They charge 18% on tables 4 and up, most people have two children. Service isn't worth 18% and with all the extra charges even more of a reason why I wouldn't want to be forced to pay 18% tip. This dinning was a nightmare.

Yelp
Service was friendly. Loved the ambiance and decoration. Food was ok. Ordered shrimp endiablados, thank goodness the server warned me they were very spicy. They did offer the sauce on the side. They weren't kidding. That sauce was on fire!!! Shrimp was overcooked and smelled a bit fishy. We also ordered a $65 molcajete. It fed 3 but definitely had had better. The bean mixture it had in the bottom was very delicious. To expensive for the value. The guacamole and the choriquezo was good.

Yelp
taco is 7 dollars and comes with one taco so if you're hungry, you'll be better to order the taco plate which will come with rice and other things. I got the fish taco it's not bad but I do think it's slightly on the bland side. My waitress seems like she was having a terrible day, and she literally looked like she was dead inside when I mistakenly ordered the queso cheese when I really wanted is the "cheese dip," but she managed to be kind enough to replace it. which I appreciate Very attractive staffs, And that applied to both male and females employees, hostesses are wearing cute and colorful traditional Mexican costumes standing in the front patio. really make a great brand image. hiring manager for the restaurant can seriously consider starting a model agency. The patio space of the restaurant stretch across the entire block. for a typical afternoon in May it is quite pleasant to sit outside . complementary chips and salsa before your food arrive.

Yelp
I met a friend here for brunch on a wonderful Saturday. It's authentic and full of locals and people will understand what true Mexican food is. The service was excellent and the food was even better. The overall theme throughout the restaurant held true to its national heritage. I cannot recommend this place.

Yelp
I haven't been to this restaurant in about five years and when I did come here, I couldn't stop thinking about the beef enchiladas. They just had this amazing flavor that I could never replicate at home so I was very excited to come back. Unfortunately, the food was much better five years ago. it wasn't bad, it just wasn't as amazing as I remembered it. They bring you chips, salsa, and a bean dip. The bean dip had an off taste to it, like it was old or something. The salsa didn't have much flavor and no spice at all. The chips however, were light and crispy, and some thing I look forward to when I go to Mexican restaurant. We had the Carne Asada plate, which was very delicious. The tortillas are made fresh, but you only get two tortillas with your meal, had to ask for more. I give the Carne Asada plate and nine out of 10. We also had beef enchiladas, which were flavorless & the beans had that weird taste to it like it was old. The service was good, our server do not speak great English, we tried to ask her which dish was more popular, the Carne Asada, and another dish and she could not understand what we were asking. Super sweet and checked on us a few times. Manager also checked on us a couple times. The restaurant is decorated with lots of pictures, colorful, decorations, and very festive . They have outdoor seating. I would come back and try something new, but I am sad that the beef enchiladas are just not what they used to be .

Yelp
I didn't go but they brought the food to us. I ordered a beef soup (cocido) for all that money I got 2 big potatoes 2 big corn on the cob a big piece of celery and a big carrot. At the bottom a tiny tiny piece of beef. Of course it had no flavor if it had no meat.

Yelp
This was one of the nicest houses I have ever stayed in. Stay there and make a great feast in a huge beautiful kitchen stacked with everything you need to bake and create amazing meals great for family holiday or get together

Yelp
Ambiance: super casual restaurant on Main St. Service: a lady sat us down within 5 minutes. Our server came pretty quick and got our order. It was actually my birthday & I wanted to do a casual place since I'm doing a nice bday dinner in Toronto. I ordered a mango marg and she checked my ID but didn't notice it was my birthday which was fine lol But if you're looking for a high level of detail & attention, this is not it. I also asked for green sauce for my enchilada but got red. She seemed rushed and was reading back our order as she was kind of walking away. But the red sauce was really good so I didn't mind! Food: good was pretty good! i got a chicken enchilada and was surprised at how tender the chicken was. While rice is a standard, their rice was so flavorful and soft. My boyfriend really enjoyed his chicken chimichanga too! We will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Saturday night, downtown Las Vegas, craving Mexican? Check out Casa Don Juan! A local staple, this family owned restaurant has been in Vegas forever and you will definitely feel like home the second you walk in. The chatter, the music, the eclectic decor-everything has a very homey feeling. We were seated right away, without a reservation and our waiter was FANTASTIC! I cannot speak highly enough about the level of service! 100% excellent-especially for downtown/the arts district. The menu is great and a little pricy. We opted for an a la carte tamale, taco and a wet burrito. The chips, beans and salsa are great. The queso has a little bit of a bite to it, but hubby loved it! Our food came out quickly, and it was really good! My only "negative" was the noise level. The music was so loud that it made conversation impossible. They also add an 18% gratuity for parties greater than 4, which limits family outings. We rarely travel downtown, but we would hit them up again because I want to try the cotton candy cheesecake!

Yelp
The food is decent but not fantastic and NOT worth the money... we will just drive to Flaming Fajitas instead. Issues: - 2 waters has cilantro in it when it was brought to us asked the waiter for new cups twice - I ordered menudo which had way to much cumin I asked for a Bolillo instead of tortillas it was an additional charge - ordered fajitas and it was a decent portion and given 2 small tortillas asked for more did not tell us it was $4 for 2 more small tortillas - when I asked him about the extra charged he smiled and said well you wanted more but I didn't charge you for a second round of chips! - The $15 margaritas had no alcohol - The service was horrible; we were never checked on but we were forced to pay a $25 tip for 5 people (3 kids)!! - also they will come take your picture and sell it to you for $30!!! $20 with no frame! We will absolutely NOT be back

David R.

Yelp
Poor service. Manager was rude. Never going back. There are a lot of good restaurants in Las Vegas then to waste my time here. Food was decent. Can't blame the chef team.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the closest sit down Mexican restaurant we have found. The first time we loved the HH. This last time It was good, but not like the first. You are served homemade chips, with salsa and beans. That is a new one for me. But holy hell it all works! We ordered the tacos, which are good, but even HH price is a tad pricey. Both times we ordered the quesadilla, and the tortilla maker wasn't there. The first time we waited and that was good. This time we didn't and got a regular quesadilla. It was better on HH menu. Service is always good we have only sat at the bar. There's always people eating and drinking. Will return to try other menu options.

Yelp
I've heard about Casa Don Juan for while now but didn't realize they had one in the Arts District until some out of town friends of ours invited us to their birthday celebration at the Main Street location. There was about 12 of us in the party, and everyone had a blast and enjoyed their food. The restaurant was very nice and had great decor and a great vibe. The service for our event was excellent, being a large group they actually provided two servers for us which kept drinks and orders moving quickly which was nice. Their menu offers a large variety of Mexican dishes so it was a bit difficult to choose! We started with some chips and salsa, Guacamole, and their Choriqueso. The salsa that was brought out with the chips was ok, but didn't have much flavor and was a bit watery. I asked the server for some Salsa de Habanero which came out and was delicious and spicy. I didn't notice until we left that they charged us $2 for the tiny little cup they brought out. (Like fast food ketchup cup). The Guacamole was yummy and the Choriqueso was good but the cheese was a bit harder than what I'm used to and you really needed the fork and knife to serve it...flavor was good though. For dinner I ordered the Carne Asada which was some of the most tender Carne Asada I've had...and the rice and beans were also delicious. My wife ordered the Camarones Tostada and said it was very fresh and delicious. Some other items ordered in our group were Coctel de Camerones and a Molcajete. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks, and again, the service was great. After dinner the staff all came out with a Sombrero and Flan for the birthday girl and sang happy birthday. It was fun, but did note that they charged for the Flan as well. Overall it was a great experience, but it was very pricey. The Choriqueso for example was $22...for an appetizer. Our friends Molcajete was for 2 people for it was $65. I'm glad we tried Casa Don Juan and recommend others give it a shot too, just know a lot of the items a quite pricey. Casa Don Juan won't become our local favorite, but we will likely try the Summerlin location sometime and give that one a shot too.

Yelp
DISGUSTING!!! they tow your car away, they charge for refills on drinks, place smells like the sewer has backed up. Prices are way out of line for what you get. This was at the Main Street location, dont know about the others and doubt we will even try them.
google avatar

Felicity C.

Yelp
Stopped by for pina colada before our dinner reservation at Esther's Kitchen. And literally it is the BEST and CUTEST pina colada, tasty and pretty presentation. The ambiance is great and the staff are friendly. We see the staff celebrate the guests' birthday which was very festive and fun. Will have to come back for dinner soon.

jose d.

Yelp
I can't believe they have the audacity to charge $23 for just 2 eggs and beans on a plate. This is outrageous! I never take the time to post my thoughts, whether positive or negative, but this time I just couldn't resist.
google avatar

Mariana M.

Yelp
This place is a ripe off.Make sure to look at the bill right before paying. They were charging me twice the tip.The Manager came out to tell me they were having trouble with there machine. Yea right

Yelp
This Mexican restaurant was the BEST! We went on a Saturday morning (10am) and it was not full. They sat us right away and immediately brought chips, salsa and fried beans!!! We had an appetizer, coffee (cafe de olla), michelada and red chilaquiles and everything was delicious. Food came out fast. Our waitress was on it, she constantly checked in on us and her recommendations were on point. We will definitely eat here again when we are in town.
google avatar

Yelp
Casa Don Juan is a Mexican Restaurant with a few locations in Las Vegas. The Downtown location has a patio for outdoor seating. One booth in the main dining room near the bar is extra tight and you need to be the size of a four year old to sit there. The hostess tried to seat us there and laughed at us. We moved to a table. They start you off with complimentary cold chips that taste purchased and oregano laced salsa and refried beans. I tried a fajita salad with chicken. My salad was made with warm soft lettuce. It tasted like 1/2 a bottle of soy sauce was dumped on my salad. The chicken was tender but it tasted like soy sauce. This salad turned my stomach. I thought it was disgusting. My husband tried a #31 combo plate. He told me not to taste the beef or rice because he knew I couldn't eat it. He was nice and just said this isn't the best. Not the best and could have been better.
google avatar

Stef G.

Yelp
The Chile Relleno and crispy Beef tacos were good - love the complimentary beans, salsa and chips although if you want more you will need to pay for it. Only issue was the waiter didn't come around and we had to wait for more water - ordered guacamole and he forgot even though the hostess and waiter asked if we wanted to order it in the beginning!

Yelp
My niece was craving pozole and found this place on Yelp. We called and learned the dish is only served on the weekends. So Sunday, while in Vegas we placed an order and drove over. The restaurant is in a cute part of town. There is limited parking. Thankfully I was able to double park while she ran in but there was a long wait despite being told the order would be ready in 10 minutes. So was it worth the wait... YES! I've never had this dish before but it was Delicious!! I took away one star only because the pork was really fatty and I struggled to find a piece without tons of fat. They should butcher the meat better. But otherwise it was good. The portion size was large and plentiful for 2-3 people as a meal and maybe more if you have it as a soup entree with more food. My niece kept wanting to go back but we left town before the next weekend.

Yelp
6 people 2kids 18% auto gratuity? Food was below average Wait time long waiter pushy Set down and a woman with a camera came and took pictures of our group didn't really ask just started snapping pictures. Didn't really know what it was about When we finished eating she brought over the pictures in paper frames and showed them to us. We didn't know what was up. Didn't say she was selling them or what. She just stood there awkward situation we got out $30 thinking we were tipping her for the pictures . Then my daughter asked what was up she said pictures were like 20 each $80 for all ? We said well we already gave you $30 here's $10 and we will pick 2 out !! Didn't go to dinner to be pressured to buy pictures. When we left one member of our party stopped to buy a slice of chocolate cake from the case by the door. He felt like he was almost pressured by the woman at the counter to tip her by saying she didn't have the right change. Took 10-15 minutes for some one in the back to bring the slice of cake they were not very busy and 3 or 4 employees walked by during the wait. Finally my brother tried to get someone's attention to ask who was getting the cake and was ignored. I saw a guy who looked like a manager out front at the counter by the patio. Approached him and asked if he could help us get the cake? He was very aggressive and in my face. He questioned the wait time and in my opinion was rude and did nothing but make the situation better only worse. Finally a clerk came with the cake and we left. I won't be back!

Alicia G.

Yelp
We were seated in the bar area, I' assume that's why we were neglected. We had to ask for coffee, chips, salsa and beans refills. I ordered huevos con papas, large serving for two, a bit pricey flour tortillas did not taste like flour.

Cheryl L.

Yelp
Used to be one of my favorite Mexican spots when I would visit Las Vegas. However today we ordered the chorizo plate and it was mostly eggs. Portions are smaller but prices are higher. I was disappointed will not come back

Lorraine C.

Yelp
I had a really disappointing experience at Casa Don Juan in Las Vegas. Our waitress, Jessica, was extremely rude and condescending. Every time we made a request, she had a snarky comeback or dismissed our concerns. It made for a very uncomfortable dining experience. To make things worse, the food was overpriced for the quality we received, and on top of that, we were hit with an 18% service charge--completely unauthorized for a party of four! I wouldn't recommend this place, especially if you're expecting good service and fair prices.
google avatar

Marci K.

Yelp
Located in the Arts District, the location matches the vibe- it's very artsy in here. The walls are covered with various paintings and pictures of Frida Kahlo, which matches the menu art as well. The food is authentic Mexican- plenty of tacos, burritos, enchiladas, etc. and a full cocktail menu with several yummy margarita flavors (they are quite large, too). We added queso to the table, in addition to the complimentary chips and salsa, it had a nice kick but was a fairly small serving. The service is great- quick yet professional and attentive. I thought the prices were a bit high (almost $20 for my 2 taco combination), otherwise this would have been a 5 star review.
google avatar

Maida G.

Yelp
I was excited to try at casa Don Juan but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The service was slow and inattentive, with long waits for both ordering and receiving food. When the food finally arrived, it was bland and lacking in flavor. The shrimp tacos were plain and dry largely due to poor management. Despite the restaurant not being the service was incredibly slow and disorganized. When I raised my concerns with the manager, Marta, she was dismissive and unapologetic, showing a lack of regard for customer satisfaction. If I could I would give 0 starts never coming back
google avatar

Yelp
Simply the best authentic Mexican food north of Mexico! The parking is guarded and the food inexpensive!
google avatar

Yelp
I came here with my girlfriend for lunch. Service was horrible. Waited over 45 minutes to even get drinks on the table. The michelada I ordered came with beer separate which is fine . But damn beer was room temperature. I asked for ice at least. Which never made it to the table. My girlfriend ordered a veggie burrito with no rice and added vegetables from fajitas. . When the food finally got to our table, her burrito was all rice and no fajita veggies. I told our waiter about the situation and he said he would talk to his manager not only were we charged for adding fajita veggies to the burrito, but also didn't get a discount for them not adding the billed for veggie. OVER priced nasty ass Mexican food .

Yelp
I've asked many local Mexicanos where the best food is. Turns out it right near my home downtown! Now coming from Oakland and nearby San Leandro, there's plenty of great Mexican restaurants. I was jones'n for deep fried fish. Jennifer, the fabulous host, helped me with information on the menu. Mojarra al mojo de ajo - Tilapia in Garlic Sauce is what I ordered. Delicious with corn tortillas and sides of the best frijoles I've had in awhile. Yes, I picked carefully out the bones and worked my meal to the bones!

rick ..

Yelp
Excellent food, ambiance, service, pricing and in house made tortillas. Felt more "local" than tourist. Employees care about this business, I'm guessing some are very long term. Highly recommend.

Jessica R.

Yelp
Service is terrible and the food is mediocre at best. The staff ignore you. Save your money and go somewhere else.
google avatar

Felicia K.

Yelp
When we walked in we were greeted and seated by the manager, he was quite cheerful. I ordered a spicy margarita that wasn't bad but it took awhile to get chips and salsa. It was pretty basic too. I ordered their cheese tamales because the only fish they had on the menu was tilapia which is crazy. The tamales weren't good I didn't like them at all. The manager came by to take it away and see if I wanted something else but that enthusiasm was no longer present. I asked for guacamole instead since nothing else peaked my interest on the menu. The guacamole came out looking a hot mess I can't believe they presented it like that.

Yelp
If you're a huge Frida Kahlo fan/appreciator, then this ambiance is for you. It's located off of Main Street in the Arts District. The service was fantastic; we were seated right away and our waiter was immediately at our table ready to take drink orders. The food was delicious! We had ordered the queso that was accompanied by the complementary bean dip and salsa. We also ordered the two sopas to share and had the option of mixing meats. One was shredded chicken and one was carne asada. Both seasoned well and larger than I expected.

Yelp
Came here after walking downtown. The drinks were phenomenal! I do not like to taste my tequila so I enjoy flavors like mango especially when on vacation so when I saw they had one I ordered that. I was unsure about what to order but I got the chicken soup which was really good and flavorful. The tacos were not good to me. The shrimp tacos were thrown in the tortilla with pico only. They were so dry. The chicken tacos were a bit better but still lacked an aioli or crema sauce that would have made them good! Our waiter was nice and all the staff dressed in cute outfits with a Mexican flag colors tie!

Yelp
With nice weather outside, we decided to have lunch out on a sidewalk table. Before our meal, it took a long time to get some water and put in our order. During our meal, we got real good service as they checked on us a lot. After we were finished, it took a long time for anyone to come back and give us a check. We were also not giving any silverware or napkins or straws or salt or pepper or anything for that matter. Once we were served our meal, we just had to stare at it until we got proper table service. The beans and rice were okay. The shrimp taco was pretty good. The green chili pork was served with large chunks, only five pieces of meat, and were tender. Unfortunately, each piece had a pretty large chunk of fat on it. The green chile sauce tasted sort of like vinegar, and it was real thin. The chile relleno didn't have much taste, just sort of blah. Same with the beef taco, just sort of boring and plain. We were served chips and very mild salsa before our meal. We asked for hotter salsa, so they brought us some habanero sauce, but charged us an extra $3 for it. We thought the prices were rather high, especially for the quality of food. The music playing outside was festive.

Yelp
We were looking for a good breakfast spot and found it! We came across this gem. Everyone was amazingly friendly and had such proper manners. (Something you don't see much of these days). The food was amazing and not to mention their cafe de olla and champurrado were perfection. My boyfriend noticed that there was a lot more foot traffic about an hour after we arrived and the manager was huddling with his staff near the front of the restaurant and having a pep talk and reminder to treat all guests with respect and a lot of other things. He really appreciated witnessing that as again, it's not seen much these days anymore. This place is cute, clean snd perfect place when looking for good Mexican food! Would highly recommend. Our waitress was Jessica and she was the sweetest and most polite person.

Yelp
Decided to check this place out before it got busy. Glad we did, seated right away, customer service was great. Only came in for a margarita & chips / salsa. Everything was great. Margarita was okay, I've had better , but for what it was it was fine. Overall I'd recommend

Yelp
I love the ambiance of this restaurant. Beautiful Spanish style setting with artwork featuring Frida Kahlo throughout the restaurant This was my first time here and it didn't disappoint. The chips are made fresh in-house and comes with both salsa & beans. The beans were ok, but salsa is really good. This place has an extensive menu, but I kept it simple and ordered the #5 cheese enchiladas combination plate, and it was cheese heaven. It was so good! I was dining alone and my server (Hi Raquel) was so friendly and personable. I enjoyed the chat and appreciate her making sure I had everything I needed. This place is in the Arts District so parking can be a challenge. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. If you're downtown and looking for authentic Mexican food, head to Casa Don Juan

Yelp
Apparently only your first basket of chips is free after that they charge according to our server Kiki, (older man also bartending, if he is your server ask to be moved to a different server) took our order without writing it down had to come back multiple times AND STILL GOT IT WRONG. The food & service used to be so good idk where they went wrong. The beans looked old and lumpy and had no flavor. The prices ain't it for what ya get, at this point I'd rather eat lindo and I hate lindo but atleast the service is good.

Yelp
The food was good but not worth the $$ they charge. Also know that extra anything is Extra Dollars so it'll add up fast. Guacamole was good but it was an EXTRA $5.99. Extra tortillas was $1.99 phew ! May be they have something authentic that is only available here and it may be worth it but fajita wasn't it!!
