Best Mexican Restaurants in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Located in the heart of the Arts District, Casa Don Juan celebrates the work of Mexican artist Frida Khalo. One of the few spots to offer tamales by the dozen also offers a classic Mexican menu with soups, tortas, and tostadas on it — most dishes come slathered in melted cheese and with sides of rice and beans. Three locations across the city feature this abuelita style of cooking." - Janna Karel

Where to find the best Mexican tamales in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"The charming restaurant serves tamales four ways: with chicken and green sauce, pork with red sauce, cheese and jalapeños, or pineapple and raisins. For a little extra kick, diners can try them enchilada style. Diners can order tamales at any of Casa Don Juan’s three locations including one in the Arts District right on Main Street." - Krista Diamond

Best 11 Las Vegas Restaurants for Taco Tuesday | Eater

"The original Casa Don Juan opened more than 20 years ago in the Arts District in Las Vegas, when owners Raul and Maria Gil left behind their catering truck in California to start a new life in Sin City. Now the Frida Kahlo-decorated restaurant has locations near Summerlin and in Henderson, serving a roster of shrimp, fish, al pastor, carnitas, lengua, pollo, and asada tacos for $3.50 each. A happy hour every Monday through Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. kicks off the night with food and drink specials starting at $4." - Vox Creative

This was the BEST food I've had. Double-sized portions with low pricing. I was at the restaurant on Sunset for my birthday. Shrimp burrito, fajitas and a tostada bowl. Service and atmosphere are perfect. Some Pinkbox for dessert.

Google
This is my favorite Mexican spot in town. The carne asada is perfectly cooked and seasoned and they give you a good amount of it with your food. I usually get the carne asada plate but this time around I tried chilaquiles and it will be my new go-to. I recommend trying it with both red and green sauce with eggs over medium

I think I've died and gone to Mexican Food Heaven. The Chicken Mole had me almost in tears. The Sopa De Fideo was rich and tasty. The table salsa and chips were heavenly. Service impeccable. Muchas Gracias 🫡👌

My husband and I flew into Vegas to pick up a rental van in this area and had some time to kill. We stopped here for lunch and it was so good! They let us place our luggage in the booth with us, provided excellent customer service, and my shrimp tacos were SO GOOD! Fresh guac and fresh salsa as well. Highly recommend!

Google
The atmosphere is ok, found the bar prices for the shots a bit high. Food was good but nothing that stood out above a like restaurant, beans were bland, same with the carne asada. Service good, nice employees.

Our first time at Casa Don Juan. We stopped in for lunch and were immediately greeted as if we were old friends. We were seated and Victor introduced himself as our waiter. He was prompt, efficient, and entertaining. We will definitely ask for Victor next time we dine here. I had the shrimp ranchero and it was very good and filling. I am anxious to come back and try their many other dishes on the menu. My only regret is that I have not tried Casa Don Juan before today.

Last time I came here the service/ food was horrible. That was May 2017. Now it's October 2025 still the worst ever!. We asked for 2 happy hour Margaritas. They told us Happy hour was over at 6 p.m. I looked at my phone it was 5:55 p.m. The Margaritas were bland. We ordered guacamole. We received fake guacamole. I would say it's the green pea base type guacamole. It tasted like Gerber baby food. No spice no flavor. Now let's talk about the watered down salsa. It's like they added water and vinegar to diced up tomatoes and cilantro. The tamales were served dry and about 1 teaspoon of meat inside. We were charged 3 dollars for a side of red sauce (Tasted like canned tomato soup) and 3 dollars for a green sauce. We could walked over to Robertos and got better sauces for less. Check came to 70 dollars. Never going here again! Need a great restaurant drive to Juan's Flaming Fajitas!

Yelp
Fun spot, nice bar and ambience Right off sunset and Pescos. For all the white queso cheese dip fans this place has it but it's not cheap. It's white cheese dip with jalapeños but not sure I would spend the "market price" ~$12 as quoted on the menu. I mean it's decent and hits the spot but it's the price of a full meal. You get chips, salsa, and beans dip which are all perfect. The salsa has good flavor and it's just liquid. Pair that with the Al Pasor tacos and some spicy salsa - this is fire! The taco comes with grilled onions, pineapple, pico and guacamole. One of the best...out of carne asada and chicken. Hard pass on the chicken, comes with lettuce and yellow cheese - not a fan. Pair any of it with a good marg. The bar area is decent size with full TV perfect for drinks and the games. The servers were all nice and very approachable.

Yelp
I am having difficulty posting an update review (for some reason, it deletes the original review and doe not post an updated one), so I am doing it this way...... We came here for lunch on a Sunday 09/21, and made reservations this time to be safe. My boyfriend ordered the Chile Colorado (beef) plate and thought it was absolutely delicious--tender meat with rich flavor. I went with the two-taco plate, both al pastor, and the pork was juicy, well-seasoned, and very satisfying. The ambiance was the same warm and inviting atmosphere we remembered, but this time I got to watch one of the ladies making fresh tortillas by hand, which made the experience feel even more authentic. We'll definitely be coming back! ---------------- Our first visit was on Sunday 08/17 and we stopped by for lunch. The restaurant was busy but not overcrowded, and we were seated right away. Complimentary chips and salsa is always a plus. I ordered the #17 carne asada, which was flavorful and very tender. My boyfriend had the #11 three enchiladas. He especially enjoyed the cheese, followed by the chicken, and said overall it was very good. For dessert, we shared the flan, which was delicious, and not overly sweet. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. Our server was friendly and attentive The ambiance is festive and well-lit, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Parking was plentiful and convenient. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and would definitely return.

Yelp
Fresh authentic comidas mexicanas tradicionales con bebidas frescas y frias! Servicio amable y impeccable. Si no han consumido estan sin saber el gusto! Musica corrida en Español! Venga por la comida y relaja con la musica Latina. Aprovechen amigos y buen apetito.

Yelp
Love this place. Friendly and great food... I am always very Full when I leave this place.

Yelp
We bought a $29.70 Groupon that gave us $50 worth of food, and we did tip $10... so we ended up paying $42 for 2 hot plates of enchiladas, tacos, and sides, as well as a desert! We did wait 15 mins for a table at 8pm because they only had 1 section open, before they closed at 9pm but it was worth the wait because the service and memory is lasting! They only took 15 mins to make our order, gave us 10 mins to look at the menu! Also the best part, they give you free chips, salsa and beans while waiting! Parking was free and nice and we enjoyed our time! Food was fresh and good! We left with left overs! So full!

Yelp
Like Mexican food? If so, Casa Don Juan will fill you up with delicious food while providing attentive and friendly service. They have a reputation for ensuring you are stuffed by the time they dare ask you about dessert. The restaurant is gaily decorated in a Mexican motif replete with hanging piñatas. The noise level at dinner hour was moderate, with background music playing in the background. Restrooms were clean, and parking was plentiful. Try their Margaritas, too.

Yelp
The service is beyond amazing! They have set the bar high for other restaurants. We came for lunch, and I got the lunch special (Mole). The portion was filling and delicious. We loved the complementary chips and salsa, and the cup of soup before our meal was a hit!

Yelp
Food is always great, servers and bussers were very attentive. There was a sweet photographer (Vanessa) there tonight that took our picture. We were celebrating a birthday so of course we had to get them.

Yelp
Went for lunch in between meetings...convenient location right on Sunset Road by Eastern. Got the shrimp fajita lunch special comes with soup or salad which was nice..got the salad. Service was great and staff friendly - the only reason for 4 out of 5 star was they use the small shrimp for the fajita...in the city of excess like Vegas I guess I'm used to the larger shrimp..so that was a little disappointing. Why not offer the shrimp meals at higher cost & use the bigger ones? Other than that...it was very good.

Joy P.

Yelp
Went a year ago had a bad experience, tried it again and the service was not good our server took forever and rarely checked on us. The enchilada quality is not good very disappointing about the flavor, the attend the bigger tables better I guess they are money hungry for tip. Being pregnant we asked for a table and they sat us in a booth, luckily we were able to push the table just a little so I sit comfortably. Some servers have a mean face

Yelp
The Sunset location really went downhill and we stopped going a couple years ago. Decided to give it another shot last week and it was so good we went back last night. I'm so happy to say THEY ARE BACK!!! I'm thrilled to have a go to Mexican restaurant again!

Yelp
First time here and the second we walked in we were greeted and seated. The staff provided excellent service and delicious food. The ambiance was calm and very welcoming. We had our pictures taken and were able to purchase what we wanted before we left. Definitely recommend and coming back with the family next time.

Yelp
My first time at this restaurant and was greatly impressed. We sat in the bar area and had the bartender change the TV's to a baseball game and he didn't hesitant. He came out to check on us before and during our dinner. He was nice and professional. The food was amazing. Only had the enchiladas, but it had a lot of flavor! The restaurant had a nice feel to it, but we opted for the bar. The prices were very reasonable. Definitely will be going back!

Yelp
Best in Vegas! We frequent both the downtown and Sunset locations. The food is consistently delicious. The servers are lovely. The decor is bright and colorful, just like Mexico... so many fun details you might miss but someone put a lot of thought into the decor. I appreciate their dedication to Frida Kahlo. The Downtown location has her more prominently featured. Their chips are fresh and served warm with perfect salsa and beans. My boyfriend says the beans taste just like his mom and grandma used to make... They have the BEST queso dip I've ever had. My favorite meal is the beef chimichanga, or #23 with the grilled flank steak and cheese enchilada. He usually gets a torta or a burrito. Portions are huge, we always have leftovers. Dinners are served with fideo soup. It's a challenge to save room for the main dish! The margaritas are good but not always consistent, depends on the bartender. We usually order a Cadillac pitcher, but they have many flavor options, rocks or frozen. We always leave full and happy!

Yelp

Yelp
We got rained out of the Ren Faire so we came for dinner. Juan H. was our server and he is just FANTASTIC! He turned a disappointing day into a wonderful evening! Excellent customer service and just an all around good human!

Yelp
We love coming here because the food is always good. We always get chicken mole enchiladas because the mole sauce is soo good. We tried breakfast this time and it did not disappoint. The green chilaquiles were spicy! It came with lots of food. We love the complimentary chips with salsa and beans! Inside the restaurant is super colorful and very pretty. We love their decorative walls and all the different colors. Service is always amazing.

Yelp

Yelp
The bartender was great ... but $ 22 for a quesadilla was crazy ... is not the same service that they had in the past or the quality of the food

Yelp
This place has a beautiful ambiance. Vanessa came and greeted us and took a beautiful pictures of us ! Christopher was our server and he was excellent as well. Very attentive and caring.

Yelp
Sooooo cute. A really vibrant and colorful restaurant with staff dressed in traditional Mexican clothing. It was a slow Saturday when my family and I stopped by for dinner. The service was quick and the food was really good. I ordered a fried fish with a sign of beans, rice and handmade flour tortillas. I'm glad my fried fish wasn't too greasy or salty. I paired it with an horchata. Horchata quality to me is very important because I prefer a traditional rice drink over a dairy-powder made horchata that's store bought. Thankfully their horchata is traditional and simply rice milk and cinnamon. My other favorite was the chicken soup. Absolutely delicious and well-seasoned I wanted to steal it from my grandma for myself.

Yelp
Great Mexican food, just like when I was growing up.awesome Margaritas. They treat you well here, service was outstanding. Found my authentic Mexican restaurant. My family will be regulars here. No doubt about it!

Yelp
Been here a few times. Order the whole fried fish which was so good! This time I'm just getting carne asada tacos and crunchy chicken tacos. The bean dip is yummy and the salsa is so good and fresh and before we finished the first salsa they came with another one. The service is tip top, they are very attentive and everyone here is super pleasant and professional. The restaurant is always clean (tables, chairs, floors, windows, etc.) We will be back

Yelp
Cravin' burrito on a Friday night after a long work day. This location is closer to our area and has been bookmarked for a while lol. The interior was both inviting and festive. Although we were not able to make reservations and there were no tables available, we were still able to sit in the bar area. Sports were being played on multiple TVs at the bar during that time. Guacamole | Market price value at $13.99! While the quantity was generous, the taste was just average. It's a bit richer than the usual table-side guacamole at other restaurants. Chips with Salsa and Bean dips | The chips were thinner than the typical chips at Mexican restaurants. With a good crunch and minimal salt, without being too greasy. The dips were delicious. Burrito Mojado, sub fish | Fish is not offered as a protein on the menu. However, the server confirmed that grilled or battered fish can be substituted as the protein! This humongous burrito was wrapped in a soft and stretchy tortilla and doused in salsa verde. The flaky and seasoned fish was cooked perfectly, with a slightly crispy texture. Menu: In addition to tacos and burritos, this restaurant offers so much variety including seafood options. Service: Our server was friendly and accommodating. He's also knowledgeable about each menu item. Parking: Plenty in the parking lot

Yelp
Was craving some solid Mexican food and went with the three chicken enchiladas with rice and beans for $18. The enchiladas were weak, and the whole plate felt like a ripoff. Chips and salsa were also disappointing. The chips were very good, but the salsa didn't have much flavor. The bar is decent, with good flat screens and friendly people, but the food just doesn't deliver. Unless it's the only option, I'll stick with Lindo Michoacán or Juan's Flaming Fajitas.

Yelp
We were lookin for good Mexican food in the area, well we found it here!!! Carnitas muy bueno!! Chips come with salsa and frejolies! Service was great, was was excellent experience Love the decor too

Yelp
Decided to try out Casa Don Juan on a Friday night for dinner with my husband. The hostess was extremely friendly and great, and we were seated right away. We were given some waters, chips, salsa, and bean dip shortly after being seated. The bean dip was tasty and the chips were standard, but unfortunately I found the salsa pretty bland. It took a while for our server to come greet us and take our order, but thankfully the food came out pretty quickly. I ordered the shrimp fajitas for $25 and was pretty disappointed overall. The shrimp were tiny and unseasoned, and the portion of guacamole was minuscule. Since the shrimp were the small and cheap kind, they overcooked quickly on the hot plate and became rubbery. The peppers and onions were seasoned well so it was disappointing that none of that seasoning ended up on the shrimp. The homemade tortillas did not seem fresh and honestly just didn't taste great. Lastly, the guacamole also didn't seem very fresh or homemade, the texture was a bit odd and it lacked the flavor you would expect from a homemade guacamole, and the portion was just tiny. For $25 this meal was just extremely disappointing. My husband ordered enchiladas and a tamale, and enjoyed it, which is why I'm giving just an average review.

Ashlyn T.

Yelp
Service was great and so was the food! We will definitely be coming back! The place was so welcoming!
google avatar

Yelp
Okay look Raul the Bartender is a Stud! We have not been in for a while, okay a few months or more! He not only remembered our names but also made our regular drinks before we even had to ask! He also remembers what tortillas the wife enjoys and that I always ask for the Habanero Salsa! Pro Tip sit in the Cantina! Service is great,no kids and it's not as Superbright as the Dining room! Food was, is and probably will always be super fresh and delicious here that's why we love this place!

Tammy C.

Yelp
Food was good. Chips and dips were good as well! Food came pretty quickl, and waitress was attentive.

Yelp
We came here for my mother's birthday, they were able to accommodate a party of 9 perfectly. They have great margaritas that they also do in a flight! Our server was really nice and on top of things! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I went there for lunch during spring break. The ladies that I went with all enjoyed the food and service. Will be going back soon with my family.

Yelp
Great food, service and atmosphere. They have the best Chile Relleno! It's definitely worth driving across town to dine here.

Yelp
Found this restaurant on Groupon and the reviews looked pretty good. We ordered Chile Verde and Carne Asada. While waiting for our meal, we were served (4) complementary flour tortillas which, had just been freshly handmade by a lady standing behind a counter in the dining area. It was apparent this was not her first time making tortillas. She was quick and her knowledge of the process was evident. Customers were welcome to walk over and observe her masterful tortilla making skills and ask questions. If there was any doubt as to the freshness of the tortillas that question was certainly answered. The Chile Verde was good but the Carne Asada lacked flavor and seasoning. The meat was a bit thinner than what I'm accustomed to but the portion size was generous. The dining area had a very authentic vibe with streamers, color patterns, and other types of art displayed throughout the restaurant. There's a very large bar with TVs to watch sporting events and other programs while indulging in a beverage. Our server was great and had a wonderful personality. His knowledge of the menu was vast which, was greatly appreciated. The staff was very gracious and made you feel welcomed. Overall, my dining experience was good but not great. With that said, I think I'll give this spot another try sometime in the future.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food and service. I love their home made flour tortillas, the best, and their chili Relleno's, so authentic and delicious.

Yelp
Was recommended by a local to go to this Mexican restaurant and I must say it was simply amazing. The food was delectable and the service was awesome. The decor was authentic and felt like it had a family environment. My family will defiantly be back again.

Yelp
Love the food here. Authentic Mexican food, practically anything you order will be good. I ordered the tacos today. I got crispy chicken tacos and asada tacos. They both are delicious The service is always great the people are happy and make you feel welcomed. The ambiance makes you feel like you're in Cabo or somewhere in Mexico. It's very festive and party vibes. Overall a great place to stop in if you want some authentic good tasting Mexican food.

Yelp
Great food and great service. The salsa that comes with the complimentary chips was amazing! I had enchiladas and my husband had a tamale & chile relleno plate. Both were excellent. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
The food and drinks are amazing! Come on down just for that. The photographer was exceptional! The photos we purchased are breathtaking. We purchased all of them. Come on down for a good time and amazing food!

Yelp
Love this place!!!!! I must confess that Mexican food is my all time favorite! That's why when I find a real good one I want to tell the world to try it! Ok, I have to be honest, I only had the shredded beef tacos but wow were they good! The hard shell tortillas were warm and freshly made, the shredded beef was cooked to perfection and the rice and beans were exactly what I was hoping for. (See pic) We were greeted warmly, and promptly. As I looked around, I said "ahhhh, now this is what I was expecting from a Mexican restaurant!" Our server(s) we're attentive, my margarita was perfect, and my food was delicious. Yup! We'll be back to try some more menu items.
