Casa Durango family Mexican Restaurant

My family and I like this restaurant a lot. Everything is very good. I've eaten here for years and always been happy. Bonus tip: after eating go next door, find the bakery, pick up a tray and tongs, and grab an authentic Mexican treat.

This place is GREAT!!!! Delicious food and drinks!! We got both the veggie burrito and the veggie chimichanga, but the burrito was the best. It's huge and full of yummy sauteed veggies and the best beans and rice! The horchata is so good too. Super kind service and a great place to come with the kids!

Good was great and reasonably priced, and fast. Service was friendly and attentive. Booths aren't very comfortable but that's my only gripe. I got the Durango burrito and my buddy got the steak fajitas. We both enjoyed our food. Great salsa too!

We hadn't been there for 2 years or so. Went there this past weekend. Food was great. Huge portions for the $14 plate of combination food. Now days burgers cost more than that. Great service. My wife and I were happy we decided to go there instead of another resturant. We'll be going back again in near future.

Good food hot and fresh, many dishes and flavors

I've eaten here a number of times and I enjoyed this place and the food quality seemed to be pretty good overall. Until the day I got a burrito, brought it home, and found a torn plastic bag inside of it! I was shocked. It looked like a plastic bag used for pre-made sauce or another ingredient. No idea how it ended up in my food but that's a hazard. Hopefully their management sees this so it never happens to anyone else. Image included.

I’ve been coming to Casa Durango for years with my family. Really great food, one of the servers always recognizes us when we come in and is really friendly, somehow has managed to keep the prices great despite inflation. When people visit and ask for low key excellent Mexican, probably taking them here.

I love this owner he fed me when I had no money for food 5 years ago. His food is very good. Cool peeps beans!!!

Super friendly service and quick! The food was just ok. I ordered 3 street tacos and the meat was hefty but unfortunately not very good. The meat was super tough and the seasoning was just meh. I ended up eating 1.5 tacos out of the 3.

There's just a couple issues I have with it. One is their booth are falling in and their salsa is too hot for gringos. It's just hot and I think one of the things people enjoy about Mexican Restaurants is having some chips and salsa and my last little complaint is if there is a soccer game on the service is horrible. Actually, if the owner is a male, I think he was the one waiting on me. I had the fajitas that were very good without bell peppers and my friend had a quesadilla which is quite large with guacamole and sour cream.

This place is like a hidden gem! Nice ambience with a TV (for sports fans) and the food is really high quality. They have all day breakfast which I consider as a differentiator from other such restaurants. I love scrambled eggs with chorizo! There is also an egg twisting machine that my kid enjoyed it a lot (need to prepare quarters).

We just mivednti the East Highlands and have ordered takeout multiple times already from this quality restaurant. The burrito was great in lengua, carnitas ir carne asada. My friend lived his tacos and I was even able to irder him a takeaway margarita!!

Ordered take out with my family. The service was amazing and the food was delicious! Everything was reasonably priced too. The Mexican restaurants in our area can get really expensive, so we'll definitely be coming back here!

Re-review - 5* now as salsa is excellent (medium heat). Previously, I reviewed Casa Durango stating I could not have the salsa because it was so darn hot & spicy. My friend always had it & sweated.

Sadly have not had great experiences here. 1) the staff are lovely. Very friendly. 2) we have ordered deliver through apps here at least 3x and all three times have had issues. Not that it's always the restaurants fault, but it's frustrating none the less. 3) first order through delivery we only received half the order. They corrected and we went to pick it up. Second time we again only got a partial order. Third time app noted it was delivered...we never got it. Restaurant called us and noted the issue so we went and picked it up ourselves. It would be different if the food was decent but it's not. Our order legit looked like it was mixed together. Not seasoned well. The beef so chewy it was inedible. We literally spent $40++ on meals we just threw out. Our fajitas did not come with tortillas. Our $15 cheese enchiladas we asked for double rice, no beans...there was nearly no rice at all. Food does not come with chips & salsa but the apps don't let you order it?! Weird. We will not be coming back.

The owner is almost always working and he is the nicest person you will ever meet, as are the staff. The food is authentic and delicious. The prices are fantastic with good proportions. I've gone there countless times and never been disappointed.

Case Durango is a family-owned Mexican restaurant serving quality food at affordable prices. The atmosphere is basic, not loud, fancy or heavily decorated. I think the owner was serving us and he was very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth returning!

First time trying Casa Durango, I placed an online order for chicken enchiladas, burrito, and chorizo and carnitas tacos. Everything was delicious and the prices were great for the portion size. Will be coming back!

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with this hole in the wall near me. I passed by this place everyday for over 8 years and never bother to try it until now. Although the sign is pretty noticeable, the place is pretty small and it's surrounded by many other big business that can overshadow it. We arrive around dinner time and was seated right away. We got some chips and salsa as we decide what to get for dinner. The chips was yummy and the salsa has a nice kick. We ended up getting the tostones with ceviche and plantains and the combo fajita. The tostones was a lot of food (as it's suppose to be a small dish). It is literally a fried plantain with a mountain of ceviche on top and there was 3 of them. I like the ceviche as the flavor was refreshing and it was light. The plantain was ok. The fajita was a combo of chicken, Shrimp and steak on a sizzling plate. It also came with rice, beans and guacamole on the side and tortilla.i love the charred taste of the meat and veggies, the side dish was ok. Everything was on the lighter side in term of seasoning. Price was pretty good for the portion. We basically got one Small appetizer and one main entree and it fed both of us. Service was standard. I will definitely come back to try other dishes.

It's the last day of National Hispanic Heritage Month which is the perfect excuse for me to just go for Casa Durango's pescado frito. Yep, it's a whole entire tilapia deep fried, served with their signature seafood sauce, fresh pico de gallo, rice, beans, and tortillas. Definitely enough to feed two people. Unfortunately in my pandemic takeout order, they forgot to pack the seafood sauce so it was a little dry, but an amazing value nonetheless, and I have hot sauce in my fridge. And they have a ginormous fajita burrito! The burrito was stuffed with chicken (or steak), onions, peppers, mushrooms, beans, rice, and cheese, then topped with their burrito sauce, sour cream, guac, and pico de gallo. Go hungry because this will fill you up!

My family and I have been here dozens of times, too many times to count and all have been 4+ stars. This place was really great! today however, 2 servers I have never seen before (new management?) and arguably the worst servers I've ever encountered. Took a while to place our orders, took even longer for the food to come out and one order was completely wrong. Not usually an issue but the staff argued with each other over whether we were right or they were (who does that??) finally got the correct order and it was terrible. No follow up refills on drinks, no one asked how we were doing, just rude staff. Sadly this will be our last trip to Casa Durango.

Stopped by lunch with a pal and it was good. Service was at perfect pace for lunch- food was good and portion was reasonable. They were decently busy for a Tuesday lunch. I'll be back!

Really good authentic food, they always have sports playing so that's very enjoyable while eating and the art on the left side wall is very good, service is very very good, I have the same name as the owner and we have been coming here for years, every time my dad goes when I'm not with him Antonio asks how I'm doing, very nice man. would recommend!

Enjoyed a good meal. The taco salad was fresh and tasty. The churros...delicious. I just need to add some vanilla ice cream to make it perfect. Fast delivery, fresh quality, decent portion and budget friendly, what more can I ask for!

This place is one of those secret neighborhood gems that I don't easily fess up and share with others. But it's time to shed some light on it. I've been eating here on and off for many years now (10? maybe). They serve classic Mexican food with all your typical options. This is not an "upscale" or "creative" or Tex-Mex place. Their prices are excellent for the portion sizes that you get. 2 thumbs up. The quality has always been reliable, and a shrimp dish is not 3 or 4 pieces for $20; it's generous. The service is good, but not in-your-face attentive. The restaurant sit-down area is roomy and connected to a bar next door that is not readily visible from the restaurant. Sometimes servers disappear because they are also handling next door. Just be aware. Here's a funny tidbit. I've eaten here at all hours of the evening/night. Earlier in the evening during typical US dinner hours, then it's a quieter dinner atmosphere with, how do I say it in a PC way, maybe "typical Americans". If I arrive at 8:30 to 9 or later, then the party music from the bar drifts into the dining area, and a different set of diners arrive. I love knowing this is a legit Mexican restaurant! It's COVID-19 time, so it's takeout only. Hubby opted for the fajita steak burrito. It's huge and yummy. 5 stars! I ordered one of my usual dishes - Arroz con Camarones. Love this dish with its yummy sauce. 5 stars! Side note that there's an awesome grocery store next door called Carniceria La Chiquita. Check out its marinated meats!

Seated quickly, waited on, and served quickly as well. Fresh food and large margaritas, but no chip refills. This place wasn't busy at all when we arrived but it was a bit of an odd time. We were seated and served quickly. We ordered two large margaritas, but even though they were large, I'm not sure they contained any alcohol. Chips and salsa were brought out complimentary, but be forewarned, you only get one serving for free. Maybe they've been burned by people taking advantage of that in the past. I'm not sure but it's the first time I've ever seen that. Salsa was just the right amount of spicy for me! I liked it! I got chicken fajitas and they were very good! The chicken was very moist and the entire dish tasted fresh.

We have lived for the last 2+ years in the condo complex right next door to the shopping plaza where this restaurant is, but when we first moved here, a friend told us about a Mexican restaurant up Sunset, so we've always gone there. Been unhappy the last couple times, so we looked for another Mexican restaurant. We've seen Casa Durango many times, so we thought let's give them a try. I'm so glad we did. We did takeaway; I had the fajita salad and my wife had the mole enchilada. We also ordered their shrimp cocktail and tortilla soup. We didn't care for the shrimp "cocktail;" it was more a soup, and the shrimp were supposed to be tiger shrimp. They were regular on-the-small size, tasteless shrimps. Also, while the tortilla soup was very tasty, they didn't have have the tortilla strips on the side, so they were very soggy. But our main dishes were fabulous; fresh ingredients and delicious. We'll be back. Soon many more enticing menu items to try.

Doordashed pollo carnitas with corn tortillas and chips&salsa. Didn't get any tortillas, chips, or salsa. The carnitas were so bland I needed to add Cholula, Tapitilo, seasoning salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. also asked for whole beans and got refried. Never again.

My go to spot for Mexican cuisine. Staff is fast and friendly . For first timers I recommend the durango burrito

We went to Durango for lunch on a Friday. I had the mole enchiladas and my companion had the house burrito. It was all just OK. Too expensive for cheap eats and not enough quality. Ground beef only, no picadillo .

Casa Durango has great vegan options. It's the best Mexican food restaurant we've found in the area with vegan options that are delicious and more than just a bean and rice burrito. The staff is always great to interact with as well. Highly recommend! I personally usually order the enchiladas de la crema which are okay, but I wish the chicken was a bit more seasoned/flavorful. Either way we will continue to order from here so my vegan hubby can get a yummy meal.

This is a hole in the wall, divey sort of place where the regulars get served faster than those of us who are here for the first time. It's very small, not dirty but it hasn't been painted or freshened up in a LONG time. Maybe ever. It was decorated for Halloween but many of the paper skeletons on the walls had limbs ripped off. I just think a coat of paint and a little effort would be good. Our hostess/waitress was polite but either debilitatingly shy to the or didn't care for us. The food was decent- not mind blowing, but not bad. You get one basket of chips then you get charged $3.50 for more. I suppose this has to do with people taking advantage of it, but it seemed tacky as people spending $40 on dinner, beverages, etc. Maybe if you order an entree you can have a second basket? Would I go again? Maybe, as I say the food wasn't bad and prices were fair. But it's definitely the greasy spoon of local Mexican restaurants.

Everything ordered tasted good! I enjoyed my taco bowl and my family liked what the place offered (considering we were coming from out of town).

It had an authentic homemade taste to it and it was refreshing that their Spanish rice wasn't the usual taste -- it was different. The birreria tacos were my favorite!! I ordered on doordash so I'm not sure what the inside looks like but I've driven by and I think they have a outdoor seating area. Good quality, great taste and they found a way to be unique with their Spanish rice. I'm giving them 5 stars! I probably wouldn't order the chipotle enchiladas again, I wasn't feeling the flavor -- don't get me wrong, I still ate it lol but I'll probably try a different type of enchilada next time. If you're craving Mexican food, don't be scared, they will not disappoint! I like I've tried every Mexican spot there is so when I come across hidden gems, I get really excited that I need to shout it on Yelp! Food is so good we had the Nachos Durango $15.99 and Tostada De Ceviche $8.99. The nachos are good the tostada is amazing and totally loaded!! We are definitely be going back and trying something new on the menu. GREAT FOOD AND DRINKS

If you want great Mexican food with good size portions at a reasonable price Casa Durango on the Renton Highlands on Union is a place to go is clean the service is good they're always friendly great street tacos and I love the salsa five star rating. Social distance dining everyone wears masks you can dine in or take out.

Ordered a chille relleno today and it was on point !!! Only thing I could suggest to this place is faster service, make sure someone's up front at all times and also please make sure things are clean and food is good because the last visit sent my back to work with a very upset stomach. The only reason I don't drop a star on this place is because it's my favorite Mexican place in town and I want the business to continue to do well !!!

I eat alot of Mexican food usually it's authentic street tacos or burritos because of my job This place has the best carne El pastor on the westside of the mountains my wife had the rose meat /brisket tacos and they were fantastic definitely recommend and we will be going back

I'm from Arizona. We've been trying so hard to find good Mexican food here. And nothing has come even close to the worst Mexican food we had in AZ. The only thing good about this place was decent salsa. The "red" sauce is orange and absolutely horrendous. Looks like it came from a can. And honestly you can find much better canned red sauce. The beans are okay. The rice is bland. Even the shredded beef was low quality. I'm beyond disappointed. I can't believe any of these places have decent reviews. You need to travel south to learn what good Mexican actually tastes like. If you have any recommendations for a good place... let me know. I'm still searching.

I've been meaning to try this place for sometime and last night was that time. A friend suggested we have a late dinner there and had told me how good it was. So I said, "Let's go!" Of course, going to try any new Mexican restaurant, I always get carnitas. This is my favorite dish, along with a place's chips and salsa, will tell me a lot about it. The pork was tender and moist, with fresh peppers ( I requested no onions), and it was a generous portion. It came with rice and beans and I got the corn tortillas. It paired well the Victoria beer I ordered. The staff are friendly, the place has a inviting feel, and the bar was playing some mariachi music. The owner came by to say hello and talked with us. Just plain friendly. I do apologize for not posting a pic but rest assured, I'll be back soon! This place is great and I'd recommend it to anyone. I hope this helps in your decision to come here.

Ordered thru Uber Eats. Order arrived promptly. However they put all the wrong meat choices on our entrees. More time needs to be spent on quality control. Trying to support a small business in difficult times makes it hard when you can't get an order correct.

I have been going here since it opened and both the food and the drinks here are really good. Casa Durango provides traditional Mexican west coast flavors at about the same cost as the mediocre fast food made by Riconsito down the street. They even have taco specials on Tuesday. I have tried just about every single thing on the menu and nothing dissapoints. This is a kid-friendly family run establishment and the owner takes great pride in everyone's satisfaction. He loves what he does and it shows both in the food he makes and the genuine smile on his face.

We ordered a combination for delivery and it was delicious! Everything was packed neatly. Delivery was fast. We will order more next time since this is our new favorite restaurant in Renton.

Yes, yah, I'm a fan. We've been coming here for years and the food and service are consistent. The inside sure could use a face lift now. There is a lot more competition now in the Highlands and the Landing when it comes to Mexican food. Love the place, but it's starting to look like a dive.

This is a cute little family owned restaurant. I have had the lengua, beef cheek and fish tacos from here. The beef tacos are very tasty and super tender. I think it's my favorite taco from here. The lengua was good too! The fish tacos were a little too bland for me, but that might be because I ate the cheek tacos before. Service was good too.

Just ordered take-out for the family to support one of our favorites during our "Stay Home" tenure. What a treat! Everything was delicious and fresh, and we stocked up on salsa. Thanks Antonio!

I was getting an oil change at the good year and asked where I should go for some good food while they serviced my car. The guy advised Casa Durango had THE best enchiladas and best refried beans. Wish I remembered his name to give him credit, but I am terrible at remembering names.. Haha so terrible don't recall which camarones dish I had BUT it was LIFE. I posted a picture of it. The waitress was stunning and sweet. I couldn't decide between 4 different camarones dishes and aksed for her advice. She advised one of dishes I was choosing was her favorite, I obviously went with that. It had tiger shrimp, mushrooms, refried beans, rice and flour tortillas. Which all combined to one amazing meal! I'll be cherishing this until the next time I can make it in! I don't even remember the last time I had enjoyed every bite of my meal, but I did this this time. So much so that I felt they deserve a Yelp review! I'm one of those people who read reviews but never write em.. hehee... Everything complimented each other, their refried beans were the best refried beans I've ever had! They make mango lemonade the right way. Sweet and sour, whenever I order mango lemonade at a comercial chain I'm always dissatisfied.. Those other places must use artificial mango flavoring.. The Salsa was SALSA, not chunky at all, full of flavor and sooo spicy. Amazing. The owner, at least I think he was the owner, maybe the chef? Checked in a few times and was very friendly. I always get mistaken for being Latina, but I'm Filipina. I told him I haven't been to a authentic Mexican restaurant since my bestie moved to California cause I always get confused for being Latina and people give me the stink eye when I don't speak Spanish! Haha he laughed and said I shouldn't let that stop me and I won't from now on! To sum everything up, one very long review later, I LOVE this place and really do look forward to my next meal here. Drooling and dreaming until then.

I ordered lunch from here yesterday, for Door Dash delivery. Unfortunately, my order was delivered to the wrong address. I called the restaurant and the manager immediately offered to make the order up again for free if we could come pick it up. Great customer service.

Awesome bar, Spanish language karaoke, and great nightly specials. Got three strong drinks, two rounds of tacos and nachos for under $30.

Tacos were good, but could use additional seasoning. They have good pricing and friendly fast service. It's dark in there and seems a little depressing . They offer happy hour and daily drink specials in the bar which is pretty cool.

This place as amazing Service. Great tequila selection and I'm not gonna tell you what I like on the menu because I don't want you to show up. Stay away from this place when I'm here. Lol!!! Just kidding, there's never a wait and the tacos are full! The salsa is super spicy which is amazing!! Dog friendly on the patio and don't be fooled by the neighborhood or surrounding businesses. This place is the bees knees!! Back again for taco Tuesday. Why isn't this place packed? The salsa is delicious, tacos are super good and just discovered their house made hot sauces. Love the green and the red. People need to come to this place, it's not busy at all but the quality is really good. Fun place to hang out with a huge tequila selection. I guess because it's tucked back in this parking lot people don't notice it but it's worth the visit.

There's a couple snippets of good news resulting from my visit to Casa Durango today. First, better Mexican restaurants are located in the area so you don't have to settle for this place. Secondly, I now know what the heck a chalupa is. Another Yeep mentioned that although their waitress was not, per se, unfriendly, she was unsmiling and cold. We must have had the same waitress. I certainly wasn't made to feel welcome. Upon entry, I was surprised at how suave the restaurant appeared, especially the sleek booth seats. But that was at first glance. On second glance, I realized Casa Durango actually looked like sh*t. All over the long bare wall next to me were random little pieces of scotch tape, some with a bit of violet crepe paper attached. Assorted thumbtacks completed the mosaic. I presume they had had a fiesta or something in there and when they took the decorations down, didn't give a rat's ass about cleaning up thoroughly. I asked for a cup of the tortilla soup as a starter and the #15 Chalupa and Enchilada lunch special ($7.95). Because my soup didn't come out right away I knew what was about to happen. Yep, the waitress brought out the soup and my entrée at the same time. I asked why she brought them both out together and she said she "tried" to tell the cook. Whatevs. The tortilla soup was absolutely clogged and overloaded with tortilla chips from top to bottom. On the other hand, it had plenty of tender chicken in nice little bits. The flavor profile (if that is a legitimate term) was interesting in that it seemed to have a harsh odd taste at first, but by the last few drops, seemed better with a vegetable soup flavor. My lunch special was served typically, i.e. with Mexican rice and refried beans topped with cheese. I picked ground beef as my meat. The flavors were okay. Today I had my first chalupa ever. Errantly, I had previously thought that a chalupa was sort of like an enchilada or relleño. I didn't realize that a chalupa is a huge (and I mean huge) tostada topped with meat, and here, in an American-y way, topped with shredded iceberg lettuce and tomato (which I just shoved to the side). I quickly realized you had to eat the thing with a knife and fork; it would be impossible to consume otherwise. I noticed that other diners were offered tortillas with their meal, but I was not. Huh?

I am leaning towards 3.5 stars here. Well, I really don't know what to say here. The food here is authentic enough but there are better places in the metro area for sure. I got a combination plate of a enchilada and a tostada. Either she misunderstood me or this what their enchiladas look like. A hard crisp shell, so hard you could pick it up and eat with your hand. This may be their unique brand of enchilada but most enchiladas have the texture of that of a tamale or in similar fashion. I also got the tostada with beef on it. It was decent. My experience here was by no means miserable but I have had better. The food, chips and salsa and such taste fairly fresh. It was a solid enough experience but at the same time not too terribly memorable either.
