We came to Casa España Tapas y Vinos after seeing it all over TikTok, and let me tell you, my taste buds went on a vacation, but my patience went on a permanent business trip.
First, the good stuff! The moment we walked in, I felt like I needed to check my passport. The place is drop-dead gorgeous—it's like they plucked a Spanish villa and dropped it right here. Then came the food. The garbanzo frito con jamon Serrano was a crispy, salty dream. I'm pretty sure I heard angels singing. And the paella con camarones? A masterpiece. It was so flavorful and loaded with shrimp that it felt less like a meal and more like a treasure chest. We finished with the crema Catalana, and it was so good it almost brought a tear to my eye. My wife was in heaven. The chef deserves a standing ovation and maybe a statue.
Now for the not-so-good, which I'll call the "Rigoberto Experience." Our waiter, Rigoberto, was like a ninja—he appeared, took our order, and then vanished into thin air. We didn't see him again until we had to send out a search party (a.k.a. another waiter) to bring us the check. My water glass was emptier than my wallet after that meal, and it was the kindness of strangers (other waiters) that kept me from perishing of thirst. It's a shame, because everything else was top-tier.
So, would I go back? For the food, absolutely. But next time, I'm bringing a camel with me for the water and a flare gun to signal for the check. Rigoberto, if you're reading this, please come back. My water glass misses you.
