"Situated near the centre of Pompei, Casa Gallo is a quiet, informal restaurant with an open-view kitchen. The talented owner-chef creates traditional dishes from Campania, paying careful attention to the use of regional and, more specifically, local ingredients. Charming outdoor area, plus a good selection of wines from small local producers." - Michelin Inspector

We chose this restaurant for our one night out in Pompeii, eager to experience a Bib Gourmand experience. We skipped the starters and ordered two pasta dishes, followed by the fish of the day—flatfish with potatoes—as main course, and finished with dessert. The latter two were shared. We waited about 10-15 minutes for the first course but received them separately with quite a lot of time in between so mine was already getting quite cold when we could finally start to eat. Later we found out that a waiter had unintentionally swapped my girlfriend's meal with one of a pair from the table next to us. Fortunately, the pair was kind, so once the meal she ordered was brought, they immediately agreed to have it instead to save the situation. We were not the only ones as similar mistake happened at another table few minutes before. Both dishes were very good so we naturally looked forward to the flatfish. A waitress prepared the fish on a table next to us. I was surprised to see that for such an expensive dish, quite a bit of meat was left on the bone in several places but I proceeded not to mention it to avoid any embarrassment. The fish was, as expected, very tasty, though we had to additionally season it ourselves as the boiled potatoes didn’t add much flavor. We shared one tiramisu at the end, which was mediocre and asked for a bill. We discovered the staff had charged us 10 euro extra for the dish that got swapped with the people from the neighbouring table. Eventually we had to communicate it out with the only waitress that could speak English who then communicated with her boss in Italian. Overall, food was worth the price, but for 90 €/person experience, the service in such a high-end restaurant was very underwhelming.

Rarely have I tasted so delicious food as here at Casa Gallo Ristorante in modern day Pompeii. I was not that hungry and just wanted take away but my friend was already there eating and it looked really nice, so I stayed with a glass of perfect glass of white wine - not too cold but just the right temperature so I could taste the minarality and freshness of the wine. Then I had their pasta, which was perfect cooked al dente, fusilloni with zucchini, speck and Taleggio cream. It was displayed beautifully and tasted like my Italian friends grandma made it! Then their panna cotto with pistachio came with a glass of Passito. What a dream! The French waitress was perfect and her choices of wines were cool and the whole experience was the best on my short stay in Pompeii!

Disappointing to say the least. Most of the staff was unfriendly and they even forgot my order so I waited for 30 min for a very small portion of Gnocchi Sorrentina. In the meantime, they brought me a bread basket with shattered glass pieces inside. Not sure how this place got it’s Michelin star … the only reason I give 2 stars not one, is that at least the pannacotta was relatively nice

Casa Gallo is a hidden gem! The service was exceptional, proving that kindness truly comes full circle. The location was convenient with easy parking, and the prices were refreshingly reasonable compared to all spots we’ve been. Most importantly, the food was delicious and incredibly fresh. As genuine tourists, we highly recommend Casa Gallo for a memorable dining experience.

We had the salad, the eggplant, , the pulpo, seafood pasta, and linguine pasta. I thought all the dishes were okay. the seafood did not stand out to me and the portions were a bit small.

We had a fantastic meal at Casa Gallo. All the courses were tasty - and the service friendly. Great location on the bustling Main Street in Pompei town.

This place was a letdown. If you must try it, avoid ordering seafood here. It started with bland baked oysters and ended with an unremarkable rum baba. The sea bream filet with chips was over-cooked, rendering the delicate sea bream into a rubbery salty fish filet. The prawn in the Grigliata di Pesce was delicious but couldn't save the dish from being a letdown because the tuna and salmon were also over-cooked and dry. The grilled vegetables were good, but forgettable. Not sure how this place got a Michelin recommendation, but it's definitely not worth it. Worst meal we've had in Italy.
