We chose this restaurant for our one night out in Pompeii, eager to experience a Bib Gourmand experience.
We skipped the starters and ordered two pasta dishes, followed by the fish of the day—flatfish with potatoes—as main course, and finished with dessert. The latter two were shared.
We waited about 10-15 minutes for the first course but received them separately with quite a lot of time in between so mine was already getting quite cold when we could finally start to eat.
Later we found out that a waiter had unintentionally swapped my girlfriend's meal with one of a pair from the table next to us.
Fortunately, the pair was kind, so once the meal she ordered was brought, they immediately agreed to have it instead to save the situation. We were not the only ones as similar mistake happened at another table few minutes before.
Both dishes were very good so we naturally looked forward to the flatfish.
A waitress prepared the fish on a table next to us. I was surprised to see that for such an expensive dish, quite a bit of meat was left on the bone in several places but I proceeded not to mention it to avoid any embarrassment.
The fish was, as expected, very tasty, though we had to additionally season it ourselves as the boiled potatoes didn’t add much flavor.
We shared one tiramisu at the end, which was mediocre and asked for a bill. We discovered the staff had charged us 10 euro extra for the dish that got swapped with the people from the neighbouring table. Eventually we had to communicate it out with the only waitress that could speak English who then communicated with her boss in Italian.
Overall, food was worth the price, but for 90 €/person experience, the service in such a high-end restaurant was very underwhelming.
