What a great grocery store. Perfect mix of Latin culture with a very contemporary twist! Vegan options and great cuts of meat with a fantastic price.

Shelly Puri

Google
Mid size grocery shop with good selection of vegan items; many lower in price than Whole Foods Market and Safeway. Good place to add to the grocery routine.

Google
Great spot for organic groceries! Lots of interesting fruits and veg. High quality products like tuna in glass jars, a variety of cheeses, and Oatly oat milk. I’ve heard they have good grass-fed meats too.

Google
I love this place! I shop here all the time. The staff are all very sweet and the grocery selection is excellent and high quality. Prices are very good. My favorite part is the wine selection. It's all very high quality wine in the under $20 category, mostly under $15. A lot of southern hemisphere stuff, but some European classics and newer style domestic wines. Whoever the wine buyer is knows what they're doing. Thank you!

Google
Great supermarket bodega in the Mission. Quality produce for super cheap. Lots of foods and spices from South and Central America

Google
My favorite small neighborhood grocery. Any time other stores have been out of something since the start of the pandemic - they have it. Just today I was able to complete my Thanksgiving shopping list there. It's also just kind of a lovely store. Stunningly well-stocked for its size, not just full of the same staples as all the other Latin American markets around here. Bordering on gourmet/specialty without being overpriced for what it has, while also having consistently affordable high-quality produce. It reminds me a lot of a more condensed version of Good Life Grocery in Bernal Heights. Never crowded, super friendly people, pleasantly lit... the whole package. I am something of a grocery store connoisseur, and while there might be cheaper or larger markets nearby, this is absolutely the nicest place to get groceries in the neighborhood, and you'll be shocked at how much you'll be able to cross off your shopping list!

Google
Nice organic grocery. Good quality produce better than the other markets nearby. Lots of vegetarian frozen dinners plus a couple Stouffer's so they're not insanely organic.

Google
Thank you to owners and staff. I usually go to the Casa Guadalupe at 26th & Mission. Today I finally discovered the Casa Guadalupe 2 Supermarket at 25th & Mission (around since 1990) and they had everything on my list. Bob's Red Mill products, Tate's GF chocolate chip cookies, Mary's Organic Chicken, dals, usual great, low priced produce, courteous staff, clean wide isles. I want to be of support to these merchants. Recommend them highly. During COVID they are serving the community exceptionally well. P.S. The meat department will be offering turkey closer to Thanksgiving.

Yelp
You will need to watch the register person while they add your items up and put in the prices by hand. I bought a small bag of garlic which was $7.99 a pound by weight and the woman just typed $7.99 into the register, but then when I said, "ayeee, senorita, garlic es por libra" then she weighed it out and the bag was only .4 lbs. So, I would have spent an extra ~$4.00 if I didn't catch that on one half-filled ziplock bag of peeled garlic. Not sure if it is because they see white people and think, this MF can pay! " ? Maybe it was just a mistake? I don't speak Spanish well at all, I had to use Translate app to talk. I don'tcommunicate well in Spanish. Vegetables and meats are reasonable prices, that is what I buy here.

Yelp
got a too good to go bag and it was great value. the staff are pretty friendly. good range of mexican ingredients!

Yelp
What a terrific market. Everything about this place was great. Good Produce, excellent Butcher. Great selection of merchandise. I wouldn't have stopped but they had a sign outside that described their meat selection. Once I took a walk around I was blown away. If you are in The Mission, this is a store worth stopping in to check out. Extremely high quality across the board. I wish I lived closer! :)

Yelp
The Mission is 2 bus rides away from us but I always stop in whenever I am at La Taqueria. Today I was hoping for pears, to pair up with Brie. 3 of them plus a ripe mango for 2.50. Tomatoes looked good. And they had a wide selection of produce. Friendly efficient checkout. You may want to check out the store as well but this is where I come on this side of town for produce.

Yelp
HANDS-DOWN the best grocery store in the Mission. It took me too many years to try shopping here, I'm ashamed to admit. Their meat counter is divine! They've got the best selection at reasonable prices, so you can grill up something amazing for yourself, your S/O, or your friends. Also they've got a great selection of fruits and vegetables, not to mention high quality trendy selections for every dietary need. You're avoiding gluten? Try all their million options of tortillas, chips, etc that are made for you. Don't miss out on the desserts at the check-out counter. Those alfajores (dulce de leche cookies) are exceptional and worth every penny. No reason to head over to Noe for Whole Foods when this spot's around. Seriously, check it out. There's even usually parking available on the same block (gotta pay the meter but it's not expensive).

Yelp
Second time I buy a watermelon that's already spoiled. A waste of $5. If it happens a second time, I'm assuming this is common, not cool.

Sophia L.

Yelp
They over charge you if they think you can pay and won't notice. Yesterday I bought a large bunch of red bell peppers and was charged $2.99/lb instead of the listed price of $1.49/lb. When I pointed it out after the transaction, the cashier handed me a dollar bill. Her reaction was annoyed, not apologetic or surprised. This has happened before. It's a busy place with lines, in all the hustle bustle it's easy for them to get away with this. Their produce is poor quality, just like the Casa Guadalupe at the other end of the block. Staff are beyond unfriendly to people unlike themselves. Valencia Farmers Market on Valencia & 26th is the best shop around. They have an amazing selection and staff are incredibly warm and friendly. There is no reason to go to Casa Guadalupe ever again.

Yelp
This market is super convenient, i come here pretty often to pick up items I might need for dinner that night or quick groceries. The produce is quick affordable. I have been pretty satisfied with the meat selection as well (although not as affordable).

Yelp
great neighborhood grocery shop; friendly service, good quality of fresh fruit and vegetables

Yelp
Reopened! Now "Casa Guadalupe Organic Meats & Vegetables Supermarket" Wide selection of beverages and wine. Good meat counter and veggie selection. Great grocery store to have in the area!

Fadi R.

Yelp
I went in to grab groceries the other day and seen a rat running in the corner of my eye. I immediately left the store, it was my first and last time I'll go. The health department previously shut them down due to a rat problem but it looks like the problem is still there. Would not risk shopping here.

Peter G.

Yelp
I love this spot! Great local spot with tons of choices! I've lived in the neighborhood for a long time now and enjoy going to this spot. Lately I noticed a trend of improved meat cuts and cool specials!
google avatar

Yelp
Bought 1 lb of beef flank once, looked okay on the outside but once sliced, the inside was grey and smelled sour, had to toss half of it away. Wouldn't have been so bad if they had removed it before it went bad to be marinated with spices and sold flavored like other markets. Yikes!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite SF markets! The downtown markets are full of over-priced, poor quality items, and Casa Guadalupe is a refreshing change to such unacceptability. They have the freshest, cheapest, cleanest fruits and vegtables around, and a great butcher. They also have a wide variety of Mexican products including, quesos, chicharrones, and I even saw Bacalao (salted dried cod), there! All for EXTREMELY REASONABLE PRICES. The lady who is at the counter is very friendly too! I am thankful to have a go to place like this and have found it well worth the trip from nob hill. Thanks Casa Guadalupe 2

Teresa B.

Yelp
Don't stand in line at a big chain grocery store - come here! They are well stocked with anything you could need including good produce, a butcher and a solid wine and beer selection including all the hipster beer brands. I went at 8:30 this morning and there was only 1 other person in the store. Friendly staff as well!

Judy V.

Yelp
I've always liked this place: interesting vegetables and tropical fruits in the bins, along with Latin American specialities and organic/higher-end products on the shelves. Lately the meat counter seems improved: they're contracting with excellent California ranches, and it's all very appealing. The Rosie Organic chicken tastes fresh and delicious!

Yelp
Those of us in the neighborhood had high hopes for an organic veggie market right around the corner. Unfortunately, the new Guadalupe suffers from the same problems as the "original" store, down the street - mostly poor quality produce at an inflated price (now being sold at ORGANIC prices), and the perennial thumb-on-the-scale - I just purchased bananas, clearly marked as discounted, and when I got home I realized that I had been charged full price. Please be aware that the so-called discounted prices are a scam. Since no receipt is offered at the time of purchase, there is no way to check the actual price. Fortunately, there are many other produce markets in the area, so there is no need to patronize one that steals from its customers. Most of the other reviews posted here must have been written by the many employees of this mini-chain of stores.

Yelp
Love this place. Just go check it out. Cheap, yummy produce. One small pineapple for 99 cents, perfectly sized for me. Full meat counter. Beef brisket $2.99/lb (I think). A noticed that there's an entire aisle dedicated to the Goya brand, so if that's your favorite brand, it's here. $1.99 for Ritter Sport bars. I needed a new jar of jam and there's nearly a half aisle dedicated to jams & jellies from around the world (e.g. Italy, Peru, Switzerland).
google avatar

Brooke B.

Yelp
Beware, while the selection is better here than down the street at the much better CG, a lot of what they carry is EXACTLY what you'll find down the street, but at a higher price here. And the customer service isn't NEARLY as friendly here. Also, a huge amount of what they stock here is Costco brand (Kirkland) marked up. For produce, go down the street to 2999 Mission. This is strictly for speciality foods.
google avatar

Cindy J.

Yelp
Wow! I spent 10 bucks here yesterday and the bag was so heavy, I could hardly carry it. Ten dollars got me: 1. Nice red roma tomatoes 2. 1 perfect avocado 3. 6 poblano chiles for my chicken stew 4. a small bunch of baby bananas 5. 1 red onion and 1 huge white onion 6. 6 limes 7. cilantro 8. celery 9. green onions 10. 3 huge yukon gold potatoes They also have a huge meat counter in the back. I love this place and all the great produce they have to offer at bargain prices.

Yelp
Wow. Just went to the other casa guadalupe first, for last-minute Thanksgiving items: maple syrup & vanilla ice cream. That bodega had only Aunt Jemima syrup and no vanilla ice cream, so then I went less than a block down to THIS bodega, which had them both - REAL maple syrup and organic vanilla ice cream. Beautifully new renovated market with organic produce and meats. It's like a mini-Whole Foods corner store. Yes, it's on the pricey side, but for a corner market, the quality is just excellent! We'll be coming back here, probably on a regular basis!

Jessica L.

Yelp
The first few times I liked the place, but the last few times I've shopped there I noticed they don't charge the right prices for items, e.g. charging the wrong price per pound for produce. One time is ok, maybe a mistake, but its happened to me consistently the last 3 times. The receipt you get back is simply the total amount paid so you don't see itemized amounts to double check. Not worth shopping here for me since there are other similar stores nearby.
google avatar

Yelp
All the produce is fresh, the meat is some of the best quality you will find anywhere, the butcher is really good if its not out just ask he will either get it or cut it straight off the beast. This is the place where those of us who live in the MIssion go, as opposed to those who reside in the Mission and shop at overpriced crap holes such as Whole Foods and the Rainbow Grocery. Get a clue and start supporting the shops where you live you idiot white bred yuppy Mission Fashionistas
google avatar

Yalp Y.

Yelp
Love this grocery. So glad to have healthful choices in the neighborhood. Excellent selection of hippie beverages. Nice prices overall. Wish they had more interesting cheeses, and fewer expired items.
google avatar

Yelp
The new update to the store makes it really stand out against the competition around ,even more so then before. Good selection & pricing makes me comeback every week
google avatar

Yelp
By far, best price on bananas and banana like objects in San Francisco. Like Plantains and Saba (the Danny Devito looking Bananas). Plantains are typically .79/lb. and Saba are typically .50/lb. The banana bargain come in NOT getting green ones-those are full price. Purchase semi ripe or ripe ripe and save, they are .50/lb. Today I went in and got organic ripe for .50, and you just can't beat that price. And I do not care about organic status at all. Banana shmanana. On the flip side, on my 1st visit a couple weeks back, at the suggestion of someone I was with, I purchased 2 juice beverage thingies (some hip fermented tea something or another) which we drank 2 days ago. 2 days ago it was May 27th. The sell by date was April 20th. I bought them on May 15th. $4 each. Still delicious, but how dodgy.

Yelp
Wow! Just stopped in at the newly remodeled Casa Gadalupe and it is fantastic. Did not spend too much time walking the aisles, but took a good look at the meat counter -- really nice selection of all sorts. The aisles are wide and I noticed any number of products that I never thought I would find so close to my home in the Mission. Of course, they have maintained the products that you would expect to find in any market on Mission. But they've also added a wide variety of other options as well. See ya later, Whole Foods!

Yelp
Down for an impromptu barbeque? CG has all your bases covered. Fresh fruits and veggies, check! Fish, Beef or Foul, check! Briquettes/Mesquite, Check! (Overpriced) Beer, check! Spices and Queso Fresco, Check! Fresh Tortilla, Check! If Valencia Farmers Market is closed CG is my fall back plan.

Yelp
Casa Guadalupe to pay more than $121,000 in back wages, damages and penalties for willful labor law violations Federal judge orders payment following US Department of Labor lawsuit against San Francisco grocer SAN FRANCISCO -- Casa Guadalupe, a local San Francisco grocery store chain, has been ordered to pay $110,071 in overtime back wages and liquidated damages to 25 current and former employees of its three Mission District stores. A U.S. District Court judge ordered the payment following an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division, which disclosed that Pedro Gil, owner of the local chain, violated the Fair Labor Standards Act. The department also assessed $11,687 in civil money penalties against the employer because of the willful and repeat nature of the labor violations. Gil admitted that he knowingly did not pay the required overtime wages. Federal investigators found similar violations of the FLSA during a previous investigation that determined $6,496 in overtime back wages were due to three workers. "This employer's deliberate disregard for the law and for workers' rights is inexcusable," said Susana Blanco, director of the Wage and Hour Division's San Francisco District Office. "The affected employees will now get the overtime wages that they were entitled to receive by law. This lawsuit demonstrates the department's commitment to use every enforcement tool necessary to bring such employers to justice and to ensure that workers are paid the wages they have rightfully earned." The order resolves a lawsuit filed by the department against Casa Guadalupe and Gil in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The suit maintained that employees were paid at their regular hourly rates and did not receive the required overtime premium of one and one-half times their regular rates of pay for hours worked beyond 40 per week. In addition, the employer did not maintain records of the hours employees worked, in violation of the FLSA. The court order prohibits Casa Guadalupe and its owner from committing future FLSA violations, requires the employer to conduct managerial FLSA training, to hire a third-party monitor to conduct audits of compliance for the next three years, and to post legal notices in English and Spanish to all employees regarding the disclosed violations. The FLSA requires that covered, nonexempt employees be paid at least the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour for all hours worked, as well as one and one-half times their regular hourly rates of pay for every hour they work beyond 40 per week. The law also requires employers to maintain accurate records of employees' wages, hours and other conditions of employment, and prohibits employers from retaliating against employees who exercise their rights. The FLSA provides that employers who violate the law are, as a general rule, liable to employees for their back wages and an equal amount in liquidated damages. Liquidated damages are paid directly to the affected employees. The department was represented in the lawsuit by its Regional Office of the Solicitor in San Francisco. For more information about the requirements of the FLSA, call the Wage and Hour Division's toll-free helpline at 866-4US-WAGE (487-9243) or contact the division's San Francisco office at 415-625-7720. Information is also available at http://www.dol.gov/whd/. Case No.: 4:12-cv-04877-DMR

Yelp
Best produce in the barrio. You can buy fresh heirloom tomatoes, plantians, yuca, jicama, tuna (cactus apples), nopales and ten cent jalepenos, all manner of tongue and inards, right along side candles of Pope John Paul and an assortment of worthy saints. I love this place.
google avatar

Jess H.

Yelp
My precious local market, Casa Guadalupe has great meat at the counter and the produce is well priced. The only downside is that sometimes the produce really sucks right before they receive a new shipment. I only need to go to Safeway once a month or less now, and I usually only go there because we've run out of rice.
google avatar

carleigh r.

Yelp
I'm always amazed at just how much they have in that tiny place. We frequently run over for produce, but every once in a while I need some random ingredient and am always thankful when they save me a trip to the supermarket. I have checked out many of the other local markets and this one if my favorite.
google avatar

Kirsten M.

Yelp
I hit this place up for a party I was throwing. I made my own veggie platter but also needed plantains for a South American dish. This place is good and CHEAP! Got most of my ingredients and my own groceries, so like four or five heavy bags all for $40.00. Really good way of getting fruit into your diet without having to spend a ton.
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
I love this store. It is practically next door, so that probably colors my judgement, but it is very cheap and the service is quite friendly. When I say cheap, I should mention that this only applies to the produce. Everythig else is either average priced or on the expensive side, but for fresh fruits and vegetables, this is the place to go.

David S.

Yelp
What a great spot that supports local business! Everyone should hit this spot and get some great produce and super quality meats!!
google avatar

Charlotte S.

Yelp
convenient neighborhood grocery store with a variety of produce, good selection of meats in the back. they also have good queso frescho and homemade tamales... as a matter of fact, i'm getting ready to go down there right now to get a few things for my lovely albondigas dinner for tonight...
google avatar

Mark D.

Yelp
A huge selection of cheap and fresh produce...and that's just on the sidewalk. Check out the bins on the inside for an even bigger selection. Use the money that you saved from shopping here instead of Safeway and go get a slice o' pie from Mission Pie 'round the corner.
google avatar

Shannon R.

Yelp
I'm all about Casa Guadalupe for PRODUCE: namely mangos, limes (12 for a dollar!) and mint...we've been making mango mojitos! Fabulous prices on produce, and that's pretty much all I buy there!
google avatar

Amy Z.

Yelp
Casa Guadalupe 2 is a decently sized Latin-American grocery with a good selection of products from outside the US as well as within. I'd like to see more produce, but for now I'll just buy that elsewhere.
google avatar

Hilda Z.

Yelp
It is ridiculously cheap....how can you go wrong? Tons of produce and a butcher in the back make this my quick stop before heading home from work for last minute dinner ingredients!
google avatar

Emily G.

Yelp
This is our local market and we are here daily. Fresh produce, milk, eggs, cheese and packaged items. A small selection of frozen items and a large selection of dried herbs and spices. Also a small meat butcher in the back is always open and has select meats and fish. Fresh ceviche, homemade salsa, guacamole and tamales too!
google avatar

Mango M.

Yelp
After having just moved to the Mission where there is a dearth of large grocery stores, Casa Guadalupe 2 is my new go to market for fresh fruits and veggies. Corn 4 for $1, White Peaches (OMG melt in your mouth) 3 lbs for $1 and Apricots 2 lbs for $1, I have never seen fruit this cheap and am forever a fan. The people who work there are friendly and it looks like the fruit is constantly being replenished; I saw them throwing out the yucky peaches. Some of the non-produce items are overpriced, like household goods and cereal, but I can get those at Walgreens around the corner. I also saw ceviche at $7.99/lb sitting by the register but it looked questionable...maybe next time if I'm feeling adventurous :)

Tom C.

Yelp
A grocery store with fresh produce, an actual butcher (!) and fresh ceviche every day - yes please!
google avatar

Juan R.

Yelp
Buying produce from here is so cheap. This is the only place I go to buy produce. Their meats are pretty cheap too but they are not the best thing ever.

Mckenzie E.

Yelp
Just happily dropped $99.37 at the NEW Casa Guadalupe on 25th and Mission. For the last year I've shopped at the original Casa Guadalupe just a few store fronts down but only to fill in between trips to Safeway. They never had everything I wanted. A few months ago I noticed a new store under construction. Well, it's officially open and awesome! Let me just say: organic produce, Kefir, and almond butter. Same owner, same workers, and more options.

Sean R.

Yelp
Thank you for giving me tons of vegetables and herbs for 1/4 of the price of safeway.
google avatar

Matthew R.

Yelp
this place is really great for cheap produce, but i got some chicken there and went out and grilled it that night. the next morning i was sick as a dog puking all over the place. beware the meat is all im saying.
