I visited Casa Independente without knowing much about it, and it turned out to be one of the most unique places I experienced in Lisbon. It doesn’t feel like a typical restaurant or bar — it feels more like stepping into a creative, slightly bohemian home.
The decor is full of personality. Vintage furniture, colorful tiles, and mismatched pieces give the space a relaxed and artistic vibe. Every room feels a little different, which makes exploring the place part of the fun. It’s not polished or fancy in a traditional way, but that’s exactly what makes it charming.
I went in the evening, and the atmosphere gradually became more lively. The courtyard is great for sitting with friends, while the rooftop offers a calm space to enjoy a drink and unwind. It feels social but not overwhelming.
The food was simple and satisfying, with a modern Portuguese touch. The flavors were fresh and well-balanced, and the portions were fair. The drinks stood out even more — creative cocktails and a good wine selection at reasonable prices.
What I liked most was the crowd. It felt like a mix of locals and travelers, creative and open-minded people. Casa Independente has character and energy without feeling forced. I would definitely go back for the atmosphere alone.
