"The days when Laguna Beach was an undiscovered hideaway or a sleepy little artists’ colony are some years in the past. But they’re not so far out of reach that the right hotel can’t recapture a bit of the vibe. Casa Laguna does just that." - MICHELIN Guide

"Casa Laguna is adults-only, double occupancy only, and thus more or less purpose-built for a couples getaway. The accommodations, from rooms to suites to the cottage, are cozy but not kitschy, comfort reigns supreme, and there’s a certain understated elegance, without ever lapsing into design theatrics." - MICHELIN Guide

"Casa Laguna Hotel & Spa Why we love it: A historic property teeming with rich, Moorish style The Highlights: - Iconic architecture and bold interior design - A serene pool area surrounded by lush greenery - A focus on sustainability, with low-energy lighting and water-efficient landscaping The Review: Built by Frank Miller and Arthur Benton in the early 1900s, this regal stone building presides over Laguna Beach, echoing the area’s Spanish Mission roots with white stucco, red terra-cotta roof tiles, secret turrets, and spacious patios. Inside, renowned interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard enhanced the castle-like structure with hand-painted furniture, Moorish tiles and lanterns, and wainscoting worthy of a Marrakech palace, giving the hotel a bohemian vibe. He also added softer notes like oxblood-leather armchairs and cerulean velvet couches that echo the blue of the Pacific below. Despite being a registered historic structure, Casa Laguna became the area’s first hotel to receive the Green Eco-Leaf rating fromiStayGreen.org. Its sustainable initiatives range from bulk amenities and soaps to low-energy lighting and water-efficient landscaping. The 23 suites all feature custom marble vanities, handcrafted natural fiber mattresses, and Martyn Lawrence Bullard fabrics and wallpapers. Expect beautiful attention to detail at every turn, from Dean & DeLuca snacks to Cowshed amenities made famous by the spa in Somerset, England. If you’re visiting for a special occasion, book the Bungalow, a freestanding, 600-square-foot sanctuary that offers ocean views from the living room and jetted clawfoot tub. It also has a large private balcony with a hammock for two. When not relaxing in their rooms, guests can enjoy a complimentary European-style breakfast as well as Mediterranean small plates throughout the day, all of which are available in the lobby, by the pool, or packed up for a picnic on the beach. There’s also an intimate spa with an outdoor area, where you can enjoy ocean views from the soaking tub before indulging in a hot stone massage."

Beautiful relaxing hotel. Pool overlooking the ocean. really friendly staff. The rooms are VERY small - no space for drawers or shelves to store anything. Everything is very clean. Overall Really nice vacation atmosphere with lemon water available at all times.

Really poor customer service. Reserved a room, got a confirmation email, confirmed we can check in late and was told the front desk had staff at it until midnight and that we could call after midnight if needed. Arrived at 11:45pm and William at the front desk told us there were no more rooms and that he does not have our reservation. I told him I have an email and screen shot of my confirmation and he said no. I asked him to pull up the reservation to tell me what happened and he did not pull anything up but told me the rooms are full. I asked him how this could have happened and told him he needs to pull up my confirmation number and he said he does not have access and that my card was declined. I showed him my card has a transaction for the deposit and he said that the payment was declined even though my card has the transaction as having gone through. He was incredibly unsympathetic, refused to look anything up or help us in any way and then scolded us for not calling to confirm after we had previously been on the phone with them to confirm late check-in and the pet policy. William did a very poor job and if he is telling the truth about this, then this hotel does a very poor job at reservation management. At the very least, if I get a confirmation number and have a reservation after checkout online on the hotel's website, they have a responsibility to contact me in case of any issues, including cards declining, a mix up in reservations, or anything else. Casa Laguna really failed here and this is a terrible level of service. My fiance was crying tonight and my fiance is heartbroken over having had our anniversary weekend ruined.

My boyfriend and I booked the couples massage service here to celebrate our anniversary and the entire experience was incredible. Both of our massage therapists did an excellent job and we were both very happy with their service. The spa itself was beautiful as well. We also enjoyed a soak overviewing the ocean after our massage and the surrounding area was so peaceful. The property itself was gorgeous and well decorated.

Beach adjacent quaint property, which sadly is all this place really has going for it. Room was incredibly small, just enough space for the bed and night tables. The private balcony was nice and unexpected from the room description online. So I did appreciate that, but it was not at all comfortable accomodations for a couple. Although they claim the hotel has recently been renovated, there's no indication that's been done since the 90s, except a new mattress and bedding and maybe a fresh coat of paint. The bathroom shower was ancient with a shower that barely trickled. The limited electric outlets placed in totally inconvient locations were so loose, power adapters would routinely fall out of the completely worn out single available outlet, or you had to unplug the inadequate lamps they left in the room. Cell phones didn't exist the last time they designed this room. The wotst part was, this place calls itself a spa but in reality, has no meaningful spa services available on the property and has the gall to charge you $80 for 45 minutes to soak in what is basically a shallow outdoor bathtub. When I think of a hotel calling itself a spa hotel, well I think of you know, a spa. Everything here was about the upcharge from the second I arrived and the illusion of luxury for what is a charming and historical property, but a very no-frills basic experience. For what I could have and eventually did pay to extend my trip eslewhere in the area, even the base rate was kind of galling. They also tell you the only place to park is on the busy Pacific Coast Highway unless you're willing to pay the $40 daily parking rate on check in, which turned out to not be true. There was entirely accessible street parking in the immediate neighborhood in addition to the excessively tight and always busy parking lot they provide for the fee. They tried to justify it by saying it includes breakfast, but as I knew that would not be something my partner and I would end up enjoying it was actually just another annoyance because it made me feel like I was also paying for something I knew I was not going to use. A giant disappointment all around, essentially. The staff was very nice though.

This is a very charming hotel and the people that work there are amazing. The rooms are small but nicely decorated but the water pressure in the shower is really bad , hoping it was just my room. The pool is great and breakfast has many choices. My main issue was location , I would prefer to be closer to downtown although the free trolley was a good solution

Room was super small unlike the photos we viewed online when booking. No bathtub for soaking. No hot tub for soaking. There is a plunge tub you can pay $75 dollars for for 45 minutes tho. But it’s is super quiet. Service is excellent. The property is beautiful. Upscale boutique ambiance. If you have issues walking stairs or climbing uphill this is not the resort for you. Very cool property, upscale, and expensive. Very friendly service. The massages were amazing. The food menu limited but absolutely delicious! Would return again. But I really love a hot tub or a bathtub!

Excellent service and pleasant atmosphere, plus an incredible breakfast. Several small complaints that one would not expect for the price: room was damp and musty, bathroom fan broken, only one wall outlet to charge devices, receptionist kept calling me ‘man’
