Expensive, but pleasant. The restaurant is dimly-lit, but in an aesthetically pleasing way that is a balm to light-sensitive eyes. The menu has a nice variety, so unless you're super picky you should find something that piques your interest. The average single-person meal + a drink will likely be around the mid-20s unless you get your pickings from the kids' menu (where a meal will be a little over 10 dollars with drink). Recommended to pay with cash, as a 4% discount is given if you do. I ordered the American-style street tacos (the Mexican-style has cilantro, and I unfortunately have the soap gene) with carne asada as the meat. It's three soft tacos, but you wouldn't know that from my image because I ate #3 before realizing that I should probably attach an image. Sorry. It's good. The cheese gives a nice pop of saltiness that I really appreciate. I don't know, I'm not a professional food reviewer. I'm just some random whitey eating tacos to fill the void. They also give you complimentary tortilla chips + salsa. Don't try to eat them in bed like I did; the chips will get angry at you. The girl at front was nice. Expect a mild wait to receive service, as the place isn't super staffed, so the cashier will likely slip into the kitchens when left idle to help out there. I remember when this place was more homely and whimsical. I sat across from my mom in a booth and we demolished the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. I don't know what I got, but it was good and I was happy. I saw evidence that my mother had been a person before she'd had children. She should never have become a mom, or perhaps even a wife. Overall: good food, pleasant atmosphere. This place would be nice for a date, probably.

What a great restaurant! We had the fresh guacamole and it was so good. I had the Bistec La Mexicana and the meat was so tender. My husband had Mix Three items and of of his food was so good too. Go here when you can!

I was disappointed with our food for the price charged. I assumed this place would be great. The best items served were the chips, cheese dip, and the guacamole dip. My spouse enjoyed the wings and the five of us left the restaurant feeling we made a poor selection. Our server was excellent.

It was ok. I do have to say that the Coco Margherita was very good when they added another splash of coconut.

I truly was hesitant to try again after not a pleasurable experience with the previous owners. It’s been a good few years. Decided to try tonight with the new management with my daughter and was pleasantly surprised!! Noemi was our amazing server! She was on top of everything and managing several tables. I had steak fajitas and cooked perfectly with greta flavor. Will definitely be returning on the regular.

Went last night first time since remodel and its wonderful! Previously wasn't impressed but last night was amazing! I got rhe Quesabirria tacos with the consumme sauce. My husband got the Mega Burrito. Both were amazing! The house margaritas were also amazing and strong. Server was very friendly and sweet! 5/5

Our second chance visit. I ordered a enchilada with rice and beans. Simple enough, I thought. The rice and beans were cold and the enchilada had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. The hubby ordered the 3 taco special with a side of rice and beans.....both ordered a drink, had our first "complimentary" small basket of chips and salsa. we also ordered queso on the side, which had separated ( had to be mwlted and mixed with water or milk). Total$45! Threw our leftovers away as soon as we got home. very disappointed

I would drive by all the time on Sundays and was always curious about how the food tasted. Finally got to try it and it did not disappoint. There's a reason why every table was filled and the parking lot was packed. The tacos were packed with meat which was tender, juicy, and packed with lots of flavor. It was well worth the wait.

The food was very good. The gentleman checking me out was rude was impatient and rude.

Wish I could leave 0 stars. The only people who will like this food are gringos. I got the Arroz con pollo. They seasoned it with salt and used shredded cheese as their queso. "Authentic mexican food"...i think not. Who tf puts shredded cheese on mexican food. Do better. Make actual food de méxico. Womp womp to your establishment.

Well I will start this off by saying I AM A HUGE MEXICAN FOOD LOVER. Everything about it just makes me happy. I have one place I usually go to BUT will be making the travel to Casa Leon as well because the service plus the food was just simply perfect. They have great margaritas and their cheese dip is delectable. You can tell they make their salsa fresh in house. I loved their guacamole as well. The best part is as it was coming to their closing time it was like they all came together as a family and you could just feel the love in the place. Everyone was so kind to us. We WILL be back super soon with our friends. PS. Their chairs are so legit. All wooden with their names engraved, just had to note that. Hey... it's the little things.

Third time here. Really enjoyed the ambience, the food and how kind the employees are. Food is actually really good and pretty authentic. Nothing different or special than any other typical Mexican restaurant, but the food and service makes it a 5 star. Reasonable price for the amount of food you get. ( other than tacos I don't believe 3 taco as should cost $16, but that's everywhere lately) Good place. Definitely will keep coming back.

The food is amazing I got the mega burrito and it was HUGE the service is very fast and it's very quiet to eat never judge a book by its cover

This is our new go to spot! It's small and intimate with beautiful paintings all over the walls! It's family run. Literally dad runs kitchen and makes the drinks and daughters run the tables. So cool. PROS: service- our waitress was hilarious and so sweet and attentive! Best salsa I've ever had! Homemade!! Spicy and sweet! Secret recipe dad makes!!! They sent me home with extra! $2.99 margaritas and long islands for happy hour 4-7 pm. OMG THE BEST MARG IVE EVER HAD! No mixer! Homemade lime mixture. So fresh and so strong!!!!!! Entrees were comparable to other Mexican places, but good! Cons: the meal ended! Such a great experience!!

It is an ok place, nothing out of the ordinary. The food could be much better. The taste and the quality are average. On our last visit we ordered Fajitas Texanas with beef, chicken and shrimp, a side plate of rice, beans and Mexican salad.

My all time favorite Mexican restaurant in Jacksonville when I stayed nearby I ate here every week. I recommend trying their enchiladas with rice and beans. The flavors on their sauce just aren't comparable to anywhere else. 10/10

My friend and I went here before catching a class at the comedy club on a Thursday. Despite arriving with plenty of time the service was so slow we were late. The food was alright. Had heard it was really something so hot our hopes up but generally speaking, nothing to write home about. Be advised- there were quite a few kids running around and they don't serve hard liquor to cancel them out. All in all, not the best, not the worst. I won't be heading back anytime soon.

I love Casa Leon! I have to search through a lot of pictures to find theirs but everything I've had has been good. Rice, beans, salsa, churros, tacos... and their HH margarita got me right more than a couple of times. The customer service is great and you can tell it's family owned but what you see and how they run the joint. It's far away down Mayport and probably seriously overlooked because you have to u-turn just to get to it and it's tucked away where there isn't much around it. But if you're in the beach area it's a small place that is definitely worth the try. I judge a place a lot by their rice and beans and I could eat there's all day. It's simple and to the point, just like I like it!!

They have the best real Mexican food I've had in a long time. Everything we ordered was delicious. The staff was attentive and very friendly. The ambiance was okay, but both me and my boyfriend did not like the overhead lighting. It made the restaurant really bright. I'm craving the chili rellenos (they use problano peppers) I had just thinking about them!

Parking lot was full. Every table was taken. three cops were eating there so you know the food was good. Had the mega 12 inch steak burrito excellent! Actually tasted like steak and not the typical donkey bile most Mexican restaurants try to pass off as meat Be careful if they ask you if you want a large beer. It's a full liter! Went there by myself on a Saturday night. Will definitely go back with my girlfriend. My bueno!

This is a quick and convenient location on mayport road for great Mexican food. The staff was helpful and service quick. I always judge a restaurant like this on their beans and rice, and Casa Leon's stand up. The beans are flavorful and the rice is perfectly cooked. Their burritos are my favorite!

Great family owned restaurant. Home made tortillas and salsa made fresh daily. The restaurant reminded me of growing up in San Diego near the border. The meal comes with a salad, beans, rice and guacamole; all nicely arranged on a large plate.

After wanting Mexican but not the usual tacos, I remembered I've been wanting to try Casa Leon. I ordered the Potter's pollo con arroz, their version of arroz con pollo: grilled chicken and rice but it's smothered in yummy cheese sauce. I added grilled mushrooms and onions which I highly recommend for only a dollar more. It was still steaming hot by the time I got home. It tasted as incredible as it smelled: flavorful and savory in every bite, including the rice which some places don't season as well. It's a good-sized portion, easily two meals. It's definitely a dish that will taste even better as leftovers. It came with a side of chips and salsa. I typically don't care for sweet salsa but theirs isn't overpowering and it balances the acidity and heat well. Casa Leon gets a thumbs up for this version. It's more like comfort food than your typical arroz con pollo and it's difference makes it a new favorite dish!

Casa Leon offers an authentic Mexican food experience! The friendly ambiance complements the affordable prices. The King Quesadilla, and the fish tacos are the best in town. A must-visit!

authentic Mexican cuisine can be found at this establishment! I haven't had a bad dish yet, but they're Pollo con arroz is basic, simple, and perfection... If it's chilly outside, try their chicken soup. It is some of my favorite cold day soup.

Chips seem fresh. Salsa is a tad watery imo, but otherwise good. I got the beef chimichanga lunch, and it came with beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, and tomato. Everything was fairly on point, and the things that should be fresh were fresh. I just have a hard time giving five stars since nothing stood out to me, but I'm sure I'll end up here again.

This is my all time favorite Mexican restraint!! The portions are hefty, nice service (family ran), and a great atmosphere. I usually get the Carne Asada. I have had almost all surrounding areas carne asada and this one is in my #1. The meat is always flavorful and tender. I also love the carne asada tacos and chorizo queso dip. Every time I've been I always talk about how killer the food is on the way home. It never disappoints. They are always consist in flavor. The food is so good I never manage to take a picture before cleaning the plate lol.

Ordered an enchilada and burrito to go. The food was tasty, ready on time, and the service was friendly. Just finished my food and I'm super full. It was so good and I'll be back again. Would've been a nice place to sit down at as well. A good blend of nice and relaxed

I have lived in this area for many years. I always pass this place going to or coming from mayport naval base. This is the first time I visited casa leon and I learned I have been missing out. The outside is bright red and easy to spot from mayport road. The inside has a bright Mexican atmosphere. They have Mexican mural art all over the walls. Everything is clean in top condition. I could not make up my mind on what to order. I kept flip. Flopping on two choices while speaking with our server. She chimed in and started praising the casa Grande. I was hesitant at first about the ground beef. Our server assured me of the meat and even brought me a sample to taste to help my decision. All the food we got here tasted very well flavored. Everything was cooked perfectly through. The chilli relleno was in the top three I have had in my worldly travels. Overall I learned what I been missing all these years by not going here. They do offer a military discount for dinner meals after 4 p.m.

First time at Casa Leon and it was absolutely amazing! The waitress was so nice and efficient. The food was so delicious and I can't wait to go back.

Staying at HannaPark and wanted some Mexican was headed to another place LT but we had eaten here before with family and remembered it being excellent. But couldn't find this place on Yelp for whatever reason. But my husband seen it while driving and said there it is so I agreed They don't have the fajitas for two so we both ordered fajitas he got the steak and I got the combination. They were hot but the griddle plate was not hot enough I guess to have really give it that good sizzle which to me is very important because I like the little crispy edges on meat and especially veggies. That's a downer for me and him. The flavor was good but not crispiest. I don't eat beans but he said they were horrible the rice was bland. The lettuce was arugula have never had this at a mex restaurant. Had no sour cream really? I brought it home (back to RV) and threw it in a hot skillet and it tasted better. What happened to Mexican restaurants making there own tortillas? We were never asked how our food was. This was our last visit. Hope they improve or maybe others like it cooked like that. But how do you screw up beans. Mine at home are better and they come out of the can and then I doctor them up. Take your chance

Casa Leon is always very good. They have the best shrimp tacos in town. They also have excellent customer service every time we go, even if we are just picking up our order. I wish more restaurants would treat their customers so good.

Burritos supreme was ok My friends got tacos, burritos, quesadillas and some other items. If you in the area and need a decent Mexican meal it will suffice

This place deserves the utmost praise, with a staff that's beyond courteous and food sent from heaven, I found myself lucky enough to have the stomach room to eat everything put in front of me so I could enjoy the amazing flavors they are cooking up here.

I love to try places that aren't part of a chain and this meets that criteria. Family owned and operated restaurant that offers a moderately priced authentic menu. They offer a nice margarita during happy hour at a great price. The salsa is made fresh and very flavorful. Although our service was a little less than average that night, I wont judge my future visits based on this one. Our server just wasn't im top of refilling our drinks or checking in on us but neither were we "pushed" out. The food is worthy of another visit, I loved my chimichanga. My friend ordered the steak and fries, it was literally fries loaded with cheese, steak, pico etc. I look forward to trying more selections along with my chimichanga on my future visits.

Great service & Ahhhmazing street tacos! I had the al pastor - you can tell they make the tacos from fresh masa and the alpastor has great flavor. I was reluctant to post a review because I didn't want the flocks to come out but I felt it was a disservice to foodies and taco fans. Casa Leon is Hidden gem & I highly recommend

Casa Leon is bright and welcoming when you walk in the door. They offer free chips for lunch and dinner, but will cost you extra for queso or guacamole dip. The vegetarian options are similar to other Mexican restaurants with plenty of options. The prices are decent, and much closer to the lunch menu for meat eaters. I thought my burrito and enchilada were delicious and filling. You will have to ask for hot sauce as they are not provided on the table.

Love this place! The carne asada fries are always a hit! The staff is very friendly and service is great. We mostly do to go, and they are always speedy and accommodative. Great place for good Mexican food.
