The 25 Best Restaurants In Barcelona - Barcelona - The Infatuation

"While most public facilities and services at Barcelona’s beaches only operate during the high season from the end of May to the end of September, restaurants and bars stay open year-round. Barceloneta might be a well-known beach, but once you step away from the main drag along the boardwalk, it’s also one of the city’s most historic downtown neighborhoods. Locals come to Casa Maians for the freshly caught seafood, hearty rice dishes overflowing with pork shoulder, seasonal mushrooms and peppers, or black squid-ink rice with cuttlefish and artichokes, plus that feeling of going over to a friend’s place for a quick bite and chat. The restaurant is only open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch, there are ten tables, and the entire show is run by the two owners who seem to know most of their guests personally." - isabelle kliger

The 9 Best Paella In Barcelona - Barcelona - The Infatuation

"Locals come to this Barceloneta restaurant for the freshly caught seafood—and to eat intensely rich rice overflowing with pork shoulder, mushrooms, and peppers, or covered in black squid ink. Like most classic spots, rice at Casa Maians is meant to be shared by a large group. The portions are quite substantial, so the trick is to order one dish fewer than the number of diners. If you’re just two, take a deep breath and remember there’s no such thing as “too full.” Casa Maians feels like going to a friend’s place for a quick bite and a chat: the entire show is run by two owners who seem to know most of their guests personally. Just a heads up—they’re only open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch." - isabelle kliger

The 35 Best Restaurants in Barcelona

"With only 10-or-so tables, you may be wondering if you've accidentally walked into someone's living room but this is, in fact, the entirety of the restaurant. The living-room vibe is heightened by the warm service—that and the fact that all the people in here seem to know each other. If you don’t have a Catalan grandma, you probably haven’t tried Catalan grandma food, but Casa Maians is here to let you know what you’ve been missing. This is the kind of food that is full of earthy ingredients that taste like they've just arrived from a farm down the road. We’re talking oil and garlic dribbling down your chin as you down baby scallops and razor clams straight off the shell, and hearty pans of rice, overflowing with beef cheeks, foie gras, and artichokes. Get anything you want—it's all good—but make sure your order features one of the rice dishes from the blackboard of daily specials." - Isabelle Kliger, Gemma Askham

Casa Maians - Review - Barceloneta - Barcelona - The Infatuation

"While most public facilities and services at Barcelona’s beaches only operate during the high season from the end of May to the end of September, restaurants and bars stay open year-round. Barceloneta might be a well-known beach, but once you step away from the main drag along the boardwalk, it’s also one of the city’s most historic downtown neighborhoods. This makes it a suitable home for Casa Maians, a restaurant that makes authentic Catalan food for a mainly Barcelonian crowd. Locals come for the freshly caught seafood, hearty rice dishes overflowing with pork shoulder, seasonal mushrooms and peppers, or black squid-ink rice with cuttlefish and artichokes, plus that feeling of going over to a friend’s place for a quick bite and chat. The restaurant is only open Wednesday through Saturday during lunch (as well as Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for dinner), there are ten tables, and the entire show is run by the two owners who seem to know most of their guests personally. photo credit: Sara Larsson photo credit: Sara Larsson photo credit: Sara Larsson" - Isabelle Kliger

AMAZING! MUST go to in Barcelona. Authentic Catalonian food, dishes you can’t find other places. They have dishes of the day just for that day and we got the rice with pork knuckles and prawns. SO delicious. The best meal we had while in Barcelona. We shared and it was suuuuper filling, didn’t need to eat for a long long time that day. The hostess Fuen was so friendly and nice and recommended the dish we got and it was such a good thing we got that. Although we thought the price on the board/mirror was for the whole dish, but turns out it was per person, so we ended up paying double than what we thought. But that was just miscommunication and still worth it for what we got - quantity, quality and the taste was just amazing. We will definitely come back here if ever we are in Barcelona again in the future!!

Truly outstanding paella. We had the goose barnacles and lobster paella. Service can take a little while as the place is very busy and there's only one server, but a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the food.

Food and atmosphere was amazing. The place is small but full of character Not easy to find as is situated at the back alleys of the Barceloneta beach, perfect for us to escape the tourist crowd and traps Unfortunately we didn't manage to take any photos at this time as we were so mesmerized by the food and chatting with the owner. Can't remember her name, but she was very welcome and attentive and made sure our meal was a total experience. Highly recommend

The food here is very much worth the visit. We had the bravas, stuffed pulpo, tomato salad, the bomba de pulpo and an arroz negro. All of it was really delicious. They also make their own liqueurs. The service is great especially considering there’s only one server for the entire space. The atmosphere is cozy with a nautical touch. Definitely worth it! Take note that they only open for lunch service and not dinner (I noticed someone said they couldn’t find them at dinner time in another review) but their hours are clear. Lunch only. ☺️

The food is excellent, the service leaves A LOT to be desired! We ordered bravas, bomba, and black rice with shrimp 🦐 and it was all spectacular! However, the service and the attitude of the waitresses were disappointing and rude even. We were a group of 4, me and my partner arrived late but our friends were on time and claimed the table right away. The waitresses decided to “punish” us for being late by taking our orders last. They didn’t even want to give us a menu to look at while we were waiting for our turn to order, saying that “they’ll give it to us 5 minutes before they take our order”. I understand half of our group were late but putting such ridiculous rules in places and acting up like this is unacceptable and ruins the nice impression that the food made on us.

An amazing dinner, an amazing service and a proportionate bill: what else to ask for? The waitress taking care of us was of very good advice for wine and also for the starters that I regret not having taken a picture of, they were just so delicious! She is also just a delight to chat with, although mostly in Spanish, English isn’t necessarily easy for her but she makes it work just fine :) Overall, there is a very enjoyable mood in the restaurant and the decoration is super cozy. We loved it! Highly recommend the place👍🏼

Fantastic little spot, delicious dishes, really friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere. Very fast service. The tomato salad and bravas were especially good.

we ordered tomato salad, la bomba, and a paella. Salad and la bomba very good! Two of the three in my party felt the paella tasted like the ocean, and I could not have more than two bites. But I do recommend this place! Most everything on the menu is seafood. Bit pricy
