"Casa Maria Tequila Bar & Grill, with two locations in town, boasts some of the best Tex-Mex and Mexican food in town. The menu features tacos topped with cilantro and onions, as well as carnitas street tacos loaded with pork, cilantro, and salsa. The restaurant is also known for its margaritas, available in flavors such as spicy cucumber watermelon, jalapeno, and traditional lime." - Megan duBois

I’m a Cali native and their shredded chicken tacos are FIRE 🔥🔥🔥 I always order them once a week, it feeds my inner Mexican since I have a hard time finding authentic street tacos. The owner is friendly and I always praise him for the food. They know how to properly season & cook the meat here, hard to come by in this state. Tastes like true Mexican ✨✨✨🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 The owner recognizes me anytime I come in now, and I’m not embarrassed, it’s good food 💐✨🔥

This is not your typical Mexican restaurant by any means. They put a contemporary and fresh flair on traditional dishes of all types in way that's both innovative and satisfying. The stuffed chile rellenos I had were excellent and the chicken salad my wife had was delicious as well. The meal portions here are also very good and the prices are reasonable. Combine all of this with excellent customer service and the dinning experience here is very nice start to finish.

Google
Located this place after a taco special search. Visited in Tuesday when all of the tacos are 2.99. Great deal. They’ve recently updated their menu and raised the price of the margaritas, which are my favorite. Overall great experience, tacos are cold sometimes but service is fast.

Pace2HomeGroup

Google
Great staff, even better food. Pretty authentic for being a chain restaurant. Service was fast and friendly. Chips and salsa were decent. Could have used a little more spice and flavors. Overall, not a bad place to some Mexican food.

Baggerman5000

Google
Ok, omg, banging food. Nice atmosphere, huge authentic portion served with enthusiasm. Just delish!!! Drinks are yum.. ask for Ricky, wonderful server!! Don't sleep on this place.

Google
I got the chicken fajita lunch special. It was a great deal for $10.99. It came with the chickens rice, beans, chips, salsa, and a side salad. (The salad could’ve been left off. It was just some shreds of lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese.) I will definitely be back!

Google
Taco Tuesday special $2.99 all tacos. Ordered four tacos - surf and turf, choripollo, steak chimichurri, and birria street tacos. Also ordered Pollo Ranchero. They were just OK.

Brandy Eckstein

Google
Very small portions, total rip off and $2.50 more for chorizo in queso but just a few tiny pieces in a small container. The burrito looked like a small flour tortilla and beans tasted burnt.would not recommend

Yelp
I met up with friends on Saturday night at Casa Maria. I sat at the bar and ordered a top shelf Ultimate Patron Margarita (which was $3 off) while waiting for everyone to arrive. Bar service was fast and friendly. And the drink was so big I had to use two hands. We were seated quickly and the chips and salsa arrived shortly thereafter. I was starving so I chowed down. I ordered a taco salad and an order of street corn (served on the cob). My taco salad was served in a krispy flour tortilla shell with shredded chicken, refried beans, lettuce (would have liked a little more), tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and guac. It was hot and tasty. But the street corn stole the show! Wow! Highly recommend! It was hot and super cheesy, bursting with lots of flavors. I would get this everytime hands down! Service was pretty fast and our server was nice. I'll be back!

Brandon A.

Yelp
We were greeted warmly when we walked in. No reservations. We got a table and were seated quickly. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. She offered suggestions on drinks and the menu. The lighting was good, and the booth was comfortable. We had quick service, drinks came out in a jiffy. The food was tasty, and prepared quickly. Standard Mexican for Jacksonville. But it was quick, and pretty tasty. They have an open floor plan, and concrete floors. It was a bit noisy in the restaurant. We had a good experience, and will definitely give this place another shot. I will close with, I wish you could give 1/2 stars. They were between a 3 and a four star experience.

Tanya D.

Yelp
Karla had a negative attitude from the moment I sat down. I smiled and exaggerated being nice but she must have been having a Monday of days on a Thursday! I ordered a water with no lemon. Had to remove the lemon. I explained my dairy allergy and my pollo ranchero came covered in cheese. I just ate what I could around it, paid and left. Won't be back!

Vanessa T.

Yelp
We had a great time here! came to celebrate my babies Birthday, I had called before hand to let them know we were coming in heavy with about 20 people, when we got there our server was AWESOME! He had no problem keeping up with our big party and made her birthday even more special with singing their hearts out! Lol! Now to the food, it was delicious! No complaints, Got a bunch of Appitizers to share, quesadillas, nachos, flautas the stand out for me was the Carne Asada fries, holy yummy!! I will definitely get these next time I go back! :)

Sue T.

Yelp
Bf and I are regulars here. Food is always on point! Servers and managers remembers and greets us every time we dine here. Such a vibe with good music

Linda V.

Yelp
8/11/24. Birthday party here can be fun and tasty. Having preselected menu items to order for everyone to share, is a good idea for a crowd (over 20 people) too. Servers worked hard to get food for the kids quickly (chips/salsa..lots of it) then the meals for them. The adults shared many apps....Birthday cake brought out and everyone in restaurant sang; smiles all the way around!

Yelp
As a couple who love trying all the local Mexican restaurants, we were pleased with our stop at Casa Maria. The vibe of the restaurant is amazing, heavily focused on the Jacksonville Jaguars which I love promoting local. Our service was also great. Our server, Angel, was kind and attentive with refills and more. We can always appreciate a good attitude. Food came out quick and was piping hot. We ordered queso dip, enchiladas suizas and enchiladas supreme. Queso was tasty, if not just a little bit pricey for the serving. We both liked our enchiladas orders, but they weren't our favorite that we've tried all over Jax. Preferred a little more sauce. But the fact that it came with rice and beans in the price was a great addition. We will definitely be back to try their tacos and burritos! Stop by!

Mark S.

Yelp
Street tacos are always great there. The owner is always on the floor with the servers. Amazing place great chips and salsa. Great guacamole I just love this place. I got the salmon taco which was phenomenal and side of beans the beans and rice are always fantastic. Frozen margarita great. A little sweet from my taste, but you can always add a shot to tequila to dumb that down. They really have a good menu. The chicken is very tender tacos El Paso are wonderful. They've got a Carnitas pork special on Thursday night that they give you like a pound of freaking meat and it tastes awesome it's like three meals and one for like 10 bucks. Service is always fantastic. The painting on the wall is Jaguar. Somebody did a really fantastic job on that. Love this place probably in the top 10 of Mexican restaurants in Jacksonville.

Cory M.

Yelp
This place is by far my favorite in Jacksonville! Was down for work and they made it feel like home, George the manager was amazing ask for him when you go next!

Jessica N.

Yelp
The first time we came was a Friday night and the restaurant was full, we had quick service, and some really delicious tacos and quesabirrias. Unfortunately, when we returned this afternoon, we did not have the same experience. Two of the tacos we ordered the first time were awful this time around - to the point where we didn't eat them. The chicken quesadilla casa maria was nothing to write home about, though it was a reasonable price compared to other similar restaurants. The margaritas are always good, however. We are willing to give it another shot since the first experience was so great, but it has lost its allure after the most recent visit.

Lorine W.

Yelp
Been coming here for a while but when they closed I was devastated. Craving Mexican tonight and saw a recent review....wait was it true?? Was casa Maria rising like a phoenix with their queso and margs?? YES! Their food is consistently hot and tasty. Their margaritas are just what the day needs. Service is quick and friendly. What more do you need?

Aliyah S.

Yelp
Been here quite a few times and usually the food is always consistent and delicious but this time was just a tad off. We arrived an hour before closing so maybe they were rushing to close the kitchen but the food was out to us not even 10 minutes after placing our order. The food looked great as usual but mine lacked in seasoning and my mom said the same about her enchiladas. I will just say it was an off night because I tend to always enjoy my meals every time I come here. I will be back but just hope for a better outcome next time.

Jesika K.

Yelp
I wanted to love everything about this experience and I will say the food was good. But hot damn the service needs work. If the service is that lackluster when it is empty I'd be sad to see what it was like when it is busy.... But we saw other servers killing it so maybe it was our unlucky draw.... Either way the carne asada fries are a must and the rest of the food wasn't bad. I am a little more particular for tacos and these work but they're still lacking something. Overall if I was in the area I'd check it out again but I would not seek it out.

Iris B.

Yelp
Ooooh Yelpers, Happy belated Cinco De Mayo! And woosie woo woo did I break my diet! I had been there many years ago when I worked that side of town. Let me tell you what an improvement, top shelf margaritas definately worth their price! Started with birria tacos as appetizers Wowsers these were the best Ive had in Jax! Right amount of meat and cheese and those sauces were to die for. We also tried the Carne asada with salad and refried beans, meat was cooked perfectly and with good flavor. The carne asada tacos were good my only feedback would be a bit more seasoning on the meat. The star of the evening was the Ultimate Patron...Aye chihuahua delish!! The staff was fabulous, chef and crew ...kudos. The place was clean as was the restroom. Great atmosphere loved the music! I will definately be back for more!!

Bob G.

Yelp
Was eager to try casa maria after reading good reviews. Entered, seemed nice, kinda loud with music, people eating seemed to enjoy their meals. Friday just after 4 pm. Waiting to be greeted and seated. Waiting, waiting. Time moves so slow. Girl across room at register near bar. Waiter passed in front of me, avoids eye contact, services a table and walks back to bar. No one greeted me. I look neat, not a bum. Figure it's not me, it's them. Breaking up was easy to do. Turned around and left. Sure they didn't miss me. No one knew I was there. Glanced at my reflection in nearby window. Yep, not invisible. There I was! Going to another Mexican restaurant now.

Lynn K.

Yelp
I am really surprised that Casa Maria isn't rated 4/5 stars because I have been coming here for many years and never had a bad meal. Everything is always fresh and delish. Tonight I ordered in and I love how they changed their shrimp Chimichanga!! At first I was like "oh no where is my cheese!" because this is one of my favorite dishes at Casa Maria but the new twist did not disappoint, it's so delish!!

Jaime O.

Yelp
Love this place! Drinks are strong, food is good and the staff are so nice! Love their burritos and margs!! Good place for happy hour.

Dawn M.

Yelp
We were looking for something close to my husband's office when he had to pull something from the freezer. He had the taco sampler and street corn, I had the corn, tamale and chicken fajita. I took the entire fajita home. It will last me for days. His mom had a taco, salad and two of his tacos. She was hungrier than she pretended to be.

Linda A.

Yelp
We were so happy to learn that Casa Maria had reopened. The service was wonderful and they have the same friendly owners we've known for years. The interior is remodeled and the menu has expanded, but it's basically the same place we've loved for years. Definitely a place to try if you love Mexican food.

Racquel B.

Yelp
The Food was Amazing The atmosphere was very friendly and inviting. The restaurant was very clean!

Real D.

Yelp
Fast friendly service. Great salsa. Watered down drinks, and i got one of their signature margaritas, that lacked flavor and punch. Skinny margarita was well received. Food lacked interesting seasoning. The place is exceptionally mediocre. Nothing I had there made it worth a return visit.

Richard P.

Yelp
This is the best Mexican restaurant I have found in Jacksonville/ St Augustine. The service was good, the food was excellent and the portions were huge. We rarely have left overs but came home with 1/2 of our dinner. The manager, Brian, stopped by and was friendly. The place was packed and I can see why. Well done!

Mike S.

Yelp
I Had never been to Casa Maria but had heard good things and wanted to check it out for myself, plus it was really was craving and burrito. We came in for lunch and were quickly seated and chips and salsa quickly followed after. Like many Mexican Restaurants Casa has a never large menu with many different burrito options I haven't seen before. My normal go to is a California Burrito but after skimming then menu I came across the Surf and Turf Burrito so that's what I had to have. The Surf and Turf Burrito comes stuffed with steak, shrimp, rice, beans, lettuce, and sriracha sauce, topped with Nacho Cheese, sriracha sauce, and an avocado slice. Within 15 minutes our food had arrived. The looks of the burrito were what I expected. A very large burrito. But I do wish that it had more Nacho Cheese one it. Once digging in there was a lot of steak in the burrito but not a lot of shrimp and once I got into a couple bites I found the steak to be very tough and with not a lot of flavor. The shrimp could have used more seasoning too. It was just a little plain tasting. Everything was just OK. I might come back but it was just very average. Will probably have to try something new if I come back.

Katie R.

Yelp
Just passing through town and we sure are glad we made a stop here! Loved the atmosphere and the food was excellent!!! ‼ Service was very friendly! I loved my margarita! I wish we lived closer!

Racheal S.

Yelp
One of my absolute favorites and their fresh guacamole is worth the drive!! Their burritos are huge and full of everything yummy! Service is great and everyone is so personable. Fun place to have a margarita and some guacamole or queso and enjoy the company of friends.

Dave S.

Yelp
Good food, good service, good margaritas. We enjoyed the overall experience. I recommend Casa Maria.

Jeff T.

Yelp
Had a great dinner with family! The restaurant has a great bar area - lots of TV's for sports. It's very inviting and clean. Our waiter was Ricky! He is fantastic!! Very friendly and attentive. All 3 of us had a menu request - change this, make it this way or that way. He was able to make everything perfect. The food came fast and delicious. Ricky is a great asset to the restaurant.

Eriv S.

Yelp
A great little Mexican place in a side, business community/strip mall. I wouldn't have even known about it but it's right next to a brewery that I frequent. You can order takeout and sit in the courtyard while enjoying your brew.

Heather S.

Yelp
Came for margaritas stayed for the food. Service was prompt. Love the location. Margaritas are pretty great. Be careful pouring from these pitchers... when they say frozen they mens frozen lol.... Stir and pour slowly or the table will wear it. Not watered down... worth every penny!

Jason M.

Yelp
Quality food, fast, reasonably priced and tasty. Staff seemed expedient, but they're personality has some work that needs to be done.

Michael D.

Yelp
I had Casa Maria catered for 40 people and it went really well. Not only did everybody love the food, but they were generous in their portions. There was a little snafu, but they made it right immediately. I would easily have them catered again and I look forward to enjoying their food in the future.

Mark R.

Yelp
I went here for dinner tonight with two friends whom I have not been able to have time with because of the stressors of life. This was a halfway point for the three of us to meet. I was the first to arrive and greeted nicely, however, our waitress, well I'm not going to mention her name out of respect but she really did not appear to be customer centered. The food was average definitely nothing to write home about but the customer service really was lacking. This is not A place I would return to on my own accord but would if a group of people wanted to go and I was out voted.

Rob O.

Yelp
Here in N Florida it's challenging finding decent and authentic Mexican food. I would say Casa Maria is as close to authentic as you can get in Jacksonville/St John's county. In my top 3 (given my bias and experience growing up in Southern Cali), would be 1. Mr Taco 2. Casa Maria 3. La Nopolera - Top 3 in Jacksonville is not too shabby. I will say that the biggest clue that this place is legit Mexican, is that during lunch time on any given day, the place is packed with large groups of Mexicans of all walks of trade coming in to enjoy - that's proof in of itself

Shaundra B.

Yelp
Great selection, great food (hot from door dash). I'll definitely dine in person as well.

Crystal O.

Yelp
Delivered to Legacy Ale Works- I went with the bartenders recommendation of getting the quesadilla with chicken and good gracious I never had had so much chicken in a quesadilla before! And it was moist and flavorful! I enjoyed half of it before getting full. John ordered a combo with a taco (he loved) and a enchilada and burrito which he said were ok, but nothing to write home about. For me it was delicious and good to know for future visits! I've had some tacos here before and it was a miss last time- so it was good to enjoy a hearty meal!

Jeanine A.

Yelp
I like this place so much better than the La Nop chain in JAX. They are always friendly and since it's close to my house? Score! We had a group of 8. Very accommodating and friendly. Quick service and food delivery. Food was yummy as usual.

Amado G.

Yelp
Casa Maria never disappoints me! It's always my fall back and it never disappoints. The food is always amazing, anything that I've eaten has been with great taste and well put together. I always go with the Big Tex Burrito filled with chicken, steak and shrimp. You can't go wrong with that fully loaded burrito. The cheese dip for the nachos is always mouthwatering and the same cheese drip they use on the burrito. The Taco salad is fully loaded with chicken, steak and shrimp with onions and green peppers and tomatoes. The establishment alone is fantastic, great customer service. The owner is always available and always greets everyone when they come in and greets them goodbye while you're walking out. All while asking you your experience at the restaurant. This place always has drinks specials and the margaritas are fantastic in every flavor. Any chance I get I always tell people head over to Casa Maria if you're feeling Mexican!

Chris C.

Yelp
Had taken the day off but plans got cancelled so took the opportunity to have lunch with a friend. We sat at the bar and were immediately met with a friendly bartender who took our drink order. I had a draft beer which was poured nicely and was very cold which was nice. The complimentary chips and salsa were good and the salsa was fresh. The bartender checked on us at a good pace and we did order food. I had the Speedy Gonzalez which came with a taco, enchilada and rice. The food was hot and fresh. I enjoyed that the food wasn't heavy and had fresh ingredients. My friend had the Big Tex Burrito which looked like it could feed three people LOL. Overall, it was a very nice and relaxing lunch. The atmosphere is part Mexican restaurant and part sports bar with the televisions and Jaguars murals. I enjoyed that atmosphere. Not sure if this location used to be something else as this was my first time here. I will be back.

Chris O.

Yelp
One of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. Hidden in a shopping center, you have to look closely for it and once you have found it, it's well worth it The setting once inside is very inviting. Spacious areas and very accommodating as we had a group of 8 come in. Clean and friendly staff. There is multiple televisions for one to view of sports or news or whatever you may request. The menu is overflowing with amazing dishes and the portion sizes are more then one can finish at a sit down. More food for the buck is always a positive in my eyes. The drinks are bountiful with a good amount of alcohol. I tried not one but 2 Classic Margaritas on the Rocks. The only improvement I can see is that the tacos were a little bland and need some sort of sauce for them. I added some lime juice to it that peeped them up, but an offering of spicy or mild sauce , guacamole, or an additional added flavor would of made this a 5 star review.

Rhett B.

Yelp
My friend did everything she could to convince me that Casa Maria truly set itself apart from the regular run of the mill Mexican restaurant. She really did make a convincing case but in the end, Casa Maria turned out to be the same. Maybe a little higher than the normal Mexican. That doesnt mean I didnt enjoy it though or would not return. First of all, what is it about Sweet Tea and Mexican restaurants?! Every other restaurant needs to come study how to make sweet tea at a Mexican restaurant. My friend ordered guacamole. The guacamole was fantastic! A big reason why I said Casa Maria is on the higher end of the run of the mill Mexican. I dont remember too much about the salsa, but the guacamole was better. My choice was the San Diego burrito. This is the 2nd Mexican place to have a burrito with fries in it. I chose it for that reason and ot came with cheese dip. I enjoyed the burrito with the fries, steak, cheese, and sour cream in it. The cheese dip, I was not impressed with. A big reason why is because, it was not hot. It came in a plastic container like you would have for take-out. It was not fresh queso in my opinion. But that was the only disappointment I really had with Casa Maria. I did consider getting the steak fries but I was not sure about the quality of steak. I can say though that for a Mexican restaurant, Casa Maria has fantastic straight-cut fries. I would eat Casa Maria again. Overall, it was pretty good. But when I eat Mexican, I usually look for a way for the restaurant to set itself apart. They made a good effort with the guacamole, fries, and San Diego burrito.

Jere L.

Yelp
Excellent food great service. So glad they have reopened. Many new dishes on menu. The

Alisa P.

Yelp
Closest to authentic I've seen in Jacksonville!! They have a lot of options to choose from on the menu and they always have some drink or food specials posted outside! We ordered the Mexican style TaCo with Asada. Meat was very flavorful and juicy! And I got the fish taco which also had good flavoring!! Chips and salsa was complimentary and then we ordered guaC and they make it fresh still had yummy chunks of Avacado in it. The quest however was very liquidy it was like dipping a chip into water.

Edward A.

Yelp
2.5 stars raised to 3 for good service. We needed a quick bite for lunch and decided on Casa Maria. Having been here once before, nothing bad really stood out so we were in the area and went with it despite the Yelp ratings. The complementary chips and salsa were sufficient but the guacamole fresco was very good for $6.99. A nice healthy serving size, the 4 of us all enjoyed the guacamole. My son and I decided to split the fajitas texanas which included chicken, shrimp, and beef grilled with onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes. For $14.49 the portion was enough for both of us plus some to take home. Unfortunately, It was a mound of meat and veggies that favored quantity over flavor. To me, it was bland, meaning if the chicken and beef were marinated as listed, I'd be curious to know what exactly is in that marinade. I tasted no lime or soy or even any salt or seasoning. It passes as an offering for Mexican and the service was decent but I would not drive out of my way for the food.

Terry A.

Yelp
Great fresh mex! Salsa was super fresh and so was the guacamole! Mexican decor and music add to the experience and there are plenty of tv's to keep you entertained. I ordered the special burrito with steak and it was loaded with grilled steak, not like a lot of other Mexican places that load it up with rice and beans. The cheese dip was also very good and had just a slight amount of spice. It was accompanied with Mexican rice, lettuce tomato and sour cream. Prices were very reasonable and the service was good. Convenient location at the end of Old St. Augustine Road and Phillips Highway. Based on my experience, this on my list for one of the best Mexican restaurants in Jacksonville for the price, service and food.

Rodrigo D.

Yelp
This is your typical Mexican restaurant you can find in almost any plaza in suburban USA. The service is really good and they always welcome you with a smile. The Carnitas, Surf and Turd burrito and the Pollo loco never disappoint. Just make sure you are ok with loud places because the music the play can get a little out of control for some people.

Darryl M.

Yelp
A nice place to gather with friends which is what brought me here. Tuesday nights the tacos are $2.99 each. Get three at least because they are small. Our waiter Ricky was excellent.

Karen T.

Yelp
Always delicious! The food is always fresh, and hot. The service is fast. I usually order the spinach quesadilla, and I'm never disappointed. It's full of spinach, onions, and chopped tomatoes. Hot, and delicious. The frozen margaritas are wonderful!

Michael B.

Yelp
Casa Maria is ok, but nothing spectacular. It's pretty much a run of the mill Americanized Mexican restaurant offering the dishes we are use to. When I walked in I was greeted and seated right away. But the hostess sat us at a dirty table and no one ever came to wipe it off. Service was a bit slow. It took awhile for our server to greet the table and then get our orders; we had to call him back over to get our food order. Drinks could have been refilled more often during the course of our meal. Everyone was friendly that worked there, so I'll give them that. For me I tried 2 drinks while there. First was the Margarona, a frozen margarita with a Corona beer stuck in it; it was pretty good. My second drink was the jalapeno margarita; which tasted mostly like orange juice. For my meal I had the Big Tex Burrito which is huge; stuffed with shrimp, chicken, beef, rice, sour cream, topped with cheese dip. It was pretty good, but next time I'll try the fajitas. Overall Casa Maria is pretty standard, but I'd go back again since it's close to the house.

Kumar S.

Yelp
Went here a few days ago with my 5 and 7 year old, only 3 tables of customers. No one seated us so and we sat down at a booth. Another set of customers come in and a server magically appears seats them and eventually brings them water starting to take their order while we are sitting for 10 minutes with just a menu. I ask the guy if we can please get some water, this is my 2nd time asking for service. He tells me to sit down and wait a few more minutes while he puts the schedule together to see who will be serving us??? I asked for the managers phone# and walked out. I think there is a larger problem here than just lack of service.
