The 11 Best Taco Shops in Broward County and Fort Lauderdale | Eater Miami

"You know it’s good when you see the lines out of this family-owned Deerfield Beach spot tucked in the city’s Cove Shopping Center. Its Taco Tuesdays make the lines longer, where pork belly, beef tongue, and chorizo tacos go for just $3."

The food was very delicious and you can tell they use quality ingredients. The margaritas were great, the staff was very friendly. My complaints are that there was a very foul odor coming from the hallway of the restrooms which smelled like a backed up drain. And the “Crispy Tuna” taco dish needs to be re written and changed. There was nothing crispy about it. It was chopped and cooked well done tuna bits mixed with some seasoning. However it was strange to have a few large tomato and onion slices on the plate. I asked what to do with them and the server said I need to “cut them up”. Huh? That’s strange. I’m sorry I didn’t ask about the dish before I ordered it. All together it was tasty but I didn’t feel like cutting tomato’s and onions. That dish should be reworded with a better description.

Food was so dry and sour it was unbearable. Avoid the enchiladas! Our waitress kept walking off and when it was time for me to pay the employees were chatting in the back for about 20 minutes or more! Very inattentive and poor overall service. Not priced very well either.. Over 20 dollars for 3 tacos?! are you kidding me?! also the flan is way too sweet. and I'm no picky eater!

If you want authentic Mexican cuisine in South Florida then this is the place to go. This is the real deal. Chef Emilio travels to Yucatán, Mexico every 3 weeks to bring over the spices they use to make their dishes perfect. You can truly taste the quality. I was absolutely blown away by every dish we ordered. This a a family establishment and when you dine there you’ll feel like family. The servers are on point and will never let your drink be empty. They are very observant and are some of the best I’ve seen. I myself have eaten multiple tacos in Mexico and the food here is just as good, if not better. Emilio’s daughter Tita took over the restaurant 2 years ago and is doing an amazing job carrying out Emilio’s vision. This restaurant is a staple to our community and we will continue to dine here.

WOW...JUST WOW! After my last experience, I walked into the new Casa Maya location a little nervous -- but WOW. Just WOW. From the moment we stepped in, everything felt different. We were promptly greeted and seated, and the new spot (same plaza, just a few doors down) is brighter, more open, and instantly welcoming. No crowded feeling, no rush -- just great energy. Our server, Oney, was an absolute gem. Attentive, kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. He made the whole experience feel special. We came for lunch, and their lunch specials were divine. The complimentary chips and salsa were fresh and clearly homemade. We ordered the house guacamole, and that's when the party really started -- creamy avocado, fresh cilantro, and that perfect, bright flavor you can only get from truly fresh ingredients. I ordered the chicken flautas lunch special, but knowing they make chocolate mole in-house, I asked for some on the side. Best decision ever. It came with a minimal upcharge, and it tasted exactly as I remembered -- the perfect balance of chocolate, spice, sweet, tart, and bitter. A real mole masterpiece. Everyone at the table ended up ordering flautas (some chicken, some shredded beef), and every plate was delicious. I also have to mention the refried beans topped with cotija -- creamy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. This place feels clean, crisp, and like management actually listened to feedback. They truly stepped up their game. I even took home a steak fajita burrito for my husband, and he was over the moon. It came with a side salad, and even though it was a lunch portion, he could only finish half because it was so generous. Everything was reasonably priced and 100% worth the trip. Casa Maya has completely redeemed itself -- and I'll definitely be back!

My husband and I had dinner there last night. It felt like a nice hidden gem away from the hotel area. We were greeted by a super friendly host and seated right away. The staff were also very welcoming and helpful. Our server was very knowledgeable and explained the flavors of menu items perfectly as I was asking for suggestions. The food and drinks were delicious. Would definitely recommend this to anyone in the area, and we will be back next time we visit.

We stopped for lunch, got guacamole and steak fajitas. We received a complimentary salsa with chips. Our waitress was very nice and was checking on us frequently.

Google
A Hidden Gem! I had a spicy margarita and the combo fajitas—both were absolutely delicious. They even offered chips and salsa on the house, which was a nice touch. The ambiance really stood out, especially the illuminated countertop bar—it gave the place a modern yet cozy vibe. High-quality food, high-quality people, and it's family owned and operated, which you can feel in the care they put into everything. Definitely coming back!

Google
Best authentic Mexican food in Deerfield Beach. We love this place. Great for date night, or for a family night out. The food is fantastic - come HUNGRY because you'll want to try it all. Our favorite app is the Queso Fundido with Chorizo - it never disappoints! Their tacos are top notch and I am a huge fan of their fajitas. Everything is always cooked perfectly and delicious.

Yelp
My wife is a big fan of grilled Octopus and a friend recommended we try Casa Maya Grill. We visited and were delighted, and returned again the following weekend for dinner. The restaurant is located in a plaza that has a two hour limit on parking. During our second visit we discovered that you don't need to do that in the evenings. Service was friendly and the ambiance was casual yet warm. We have had the Octopus dish on every visit, an it is consistently amazing. My wife has eaten octopus. In countless restaurants, and she considers Casa Maya's top 3. Everything in the menus was excellent, from the Margaritas to the Conchinito Pibil. My only one negative, to be fair, is that I felt Guacamole portion was small, specifically considering the price. Otherwise, everything was delicious and fairly priced. If you love Octopus, or Mexican food in general, give Casa Maya Grill in Deerfield Beach a visit.

Yelp
Amazing food amazing service! Jordan was so pleasant and the rest of Staff was also wonderful. The food was good and the margaritas were so yummy! Come check it out!

Yelp
Casa Maya is a nice small little Mexican restaurant in Deerfield Beach Cove shopping center. The margaritas were really good here and they have good prices for their lunch menu. We sat up at the bar so the bartender brought us some warm chips and salsa and waited on us right away. The lunch menu has some nice choices to choose from and they have plenty of free parking out in the parking lot..
google avatar

Tairyn A.

Yelp
I was recommended Casa Maya from a coworker. I have since come at least five times to have their grilled octopus, which is hands-down the best I have had in South Florida.. it is so tender every single time without fail. I have had good octopus from other places, but it is always a hit or miss. Sometimes it's on point, while other times it is chewy and tough, at the same restaurant. Not here. it is consistently delicious and tender. It comes either with a salad or rice and beans and a wonderful side of street corn and guacamole. I have not ordered anything else. Also their classic margarita is delicious. Service is consistently good. Everyone is nice and courteous and food comes out fast. The restaurant is nicely decorated with classic Mexican artifacts, such as lanterns and colorful glass decor. Would I recommend this place for the octopus and margarita yes. For everything else, I am not sure because I haven't tried any other dish, and I don't intend to lol

Yelp
Love the new location and decor - same fabulous food and cocktails! We had the Pipian enchiladas, Pork burrito and fish tacos. Plus ended with the cheesecake. Every single thing was delicious, down to the rice and beans. Our server Jordan was the best - great recommendations and service!!

Yelp
My husband said his burrito was bland like it had no spices in it. The Mexican street corn was good and the chips were fresh I had a quesadilla which was good. They even gave us flan complimentary it was pretty inside they also had outside seating the staff were friendly

Yelp
Found out about this place from Yelp actually, and wanted to try! Cozy, neighborhood vibe located in the cove plaza. Friendly service and the bar area felt updated and sleek. Started with prickly pear and watermelon margaritas which were tasty but kind of on the sweeter side. The chips and salsa they brought out were delicious. Mole rojo burrito was really good and you can taste the chocolate in the mole which was nice and authentic for Mexican cuisine. My friend liked the mahi fajitas and mentioned the flour tortillas were great. The only gripe I have is that the refill of chips and salsa was $4. Supposedly it was on the menu in really small writing. We weren't told there was a fee for refill when we ordered it and that's quite petty and bush league. I asked the server and he said the busboy should have alerted us upon ordering -- when in fact HE took the order. He apologized and said that's not right and then did nothing. When I got home the online menu said $2 for refill and we were charged $4. This isn't a complaint about $2, but rather that the online menu is misquoted and our server should've said there was a fee. It's always the PRINCIPLE of the matter not the cost. The food was good and worth returning to, but when management makes a goof and won't even eat $4 off the bill, it is hard to ignore that.

Yelp
Drinks were tasty and mixed well. The fish ceviche was a nice balance of flavors and the texture was pleasant. The service was exceptional and kind. The restaurant is beautiful! The SALSA was the unexpected star. Will definitely be returning!

Yelp
The food is great! I especially loved the mojo. Best I've had in south Florida. The owner goes to Mexico all the time to bring back the spices used so you know it's authentic. Taco Tuesday is awesome and has great deals.

Yelp
Traveling alone and hungry for some delicious spicy food. This was the perfect place to fill my cravings. The staff took great care of me and promptly brought out my food and drinks. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The salsa, the salad and the dinner had just right spice and completely hit the spot! I can't wait to go back and try something new.

Yelp
This place was not great. There is a lot of parking and bathrooms available. There is a large restaurant with lights but this place is NOT lit up which made it hard to find at first. The server was nice but the actual restaurant was not a great experience. I had a spicy margarita and it was decent but I ordered the fajitas to share and when it came out they just brought the tortillas and the fajita plate with the meat. It was a very small amount of meat. But nothing else. I had to ask does anything else come with this like lettuce and I was told I would have to order that separately. Which is weird because why would that be separate it's not a high cost item and usually goes with the fajitas. Finally I flagged my server down because I saw the menu said it did come with rice and beans so I asked for them and he was like oh yeah I guess you do get that. Honestly the food wasn't that good, the service was slow, and you better know exactly what's on the menu or they'll try to give you the bare minimum. They also started me with a basket of chips and salsa and they said "this is your ONE complimentary basket of chips and salsa" which we wouldn't have asked for two anyways just everything seemed so cheap and sneaky here. I would not recommend.

Yelp
We used to go here frequently, but we were last here as a family about a year ago. Hubby had ordered the steak and said it was chewy and tough. It had been his go-to dish here for years. So disappointed, he didn't want to return. So the rest of us decided to give it another try. I was surprised to learn they had moved a few doors down. The newer location is much smaller and lacks the quaintness of the old spot. The focus appears to be on the bar now, including a woman going around to each table trying to get people to order the tequila. Our waitress was nice, but I felt like I was getting the constant upsell for drinks, apps, and dessert. Chips and salsa were provided, but I was surprised to be charged $2 when asking for "a little more salsa" to go with our last few chips. (Menu says charge is for a second "Chips and salsa.") The charge seemed a bit much to me especially since I didn't ask for more chips. I ordered the spinach enchiladas. I didn't think they were worth the price. The green sauce was a bit flavorless and thick, and the rice was not as good as I had remembered. I would've like to see some cheese in the enchiladas as well. Overall, I felt that the food was not nearly as good as it once had been. I left feeling rather disappointed.

Yelp
My wife and were looking for a place to eat and while I was searching the window of apparently empty Casa Maya Grill, a man appeared from a storefront two doors down and said we've moved! Indeed, when we went in, we saw the old decor! Our server Jordan immediately greeted us and answered all of our questions. The food was great. The service was great. The whole experience was great! We will be back.

Yelp
It was my first visit to this local Mexican restaurant. We were greeted as we entered and seated immediately. The dining room was dimly lit with pretty lighting. We were served chips and two different salsas, one hot and one mild. They were very good. I ordered a salad and my boyfriend ordered Al Carbon tacos with a side salad. He raved about the side salad but was not familiar with street tacos . I tasted one and thought it was good. My signature chopped salad had avocado, blue cheese / feta blend and grilled chicken. It was delicious. Our server was great and checked on us regularly. We thought the prices were fair and parking was easy in the parking lot. The restaurant's atmosphere was very nice and I am excited to try some other items on the menu.

Yelp
We have been eating here for nearly 10 years and much preferred the previous location. It was more intimate and welcoming. The back bar was a great spot and when Luis was working the bar, the service was also top-notch (when Luis was working). That said, the food here is really very good. Now the service is not so good. I think Luis is mananging, but I have not seen him in a long time. Sat at the bar last night and when we got there, there was one person at the bar sipping a cocktail. We ordered dinner and after the food was brought out, we were left to our own devices while the bartender, and I use that term lightly, was more concerned with cleaning and closing the bar out - it was 8:15pm. Never were we asked "how is everything" or "can I refill your water", etc. We were asked if we wanted after-dinner drinks, coffee or a dessert...clearly just an upsell. This is a common theme around here lately where the servers clearly don't care. Too bad it happened here, we loved this place...we are local and if the service was better, we'd come back again....but I think I'm done here.

Yelp
Such a bummer to have your fav restaurant fall so bad. Last night we waited a good half hour for a table for 4. Ok. We ordered drinks and water and had to ask several times for the water. We waited forever for the chips and salsa to be served. The chips were stale and salsa flat. I ordered sea food fajitas. I specifically asked for corn tortillas (allergic to flour) they brought flour.... Twice!! A person in our party ordered a salad and an enchilada. They brought her enchilada before her dinner salad... no refills on drinks, they are now served from a can. My shrimp was ok but the fish tasted strong and old. Street tacos over priced for a taco soo small, it's gone in two bites. I used to eat here at least once a week... I gave it another try... just disappointed. We have a large group of friends who have always frequented this establishment and have now stopped.

Yelp
Service, food, and ambiance were all too-notch last night at our early dinner at Casa Maya Grill. The chips and salsa delivered to our table right after we arrived were delicious. Three types of smaller portions of hotter salsa were brought to us at our request (you didn't need much as they were very hot; the way we like it!). Excellent. Drinks of margaritas and a sangria were very good additions to the meal. Main courses were hot and delicious as were the rice and beans. Finishing off the meal with a shared flan was a great ending to the evening for these three first-time visitors to Casa Maya Grill. Special shout out to Jordan, our server, the young man who assisted him (sorry I did not get his name), and the server who brought us chips and salsa a few times. The individuals at the front who were seating guests and answering the phone helped us out tremendously right after we departed as we were looking for a lost cell phone. Thank you for your willing and able assistance. By the way, the phone was located where it had fallen off the roof of the car in the roundabout right outside The Cove parking area. Your friendly help put us more at ease about the temporarily lost phone. Thanks again for a great evening!

Yelp
We've been to this restaurant multiple times and it is always fantastic! It's never too loud, and the food is always delicious. Today our server Jordan was excellent, super kind, and always ready to help. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Deerfield Beach. Definitely worth it!!!

Yelp
Underwhelming experience. Tortilla soup did not come with toppings. Had to ask. The modern jazz is not the right music. The service is lacking. Everthing is extra. One chip and salsa, cheese and lettuce for fajitas...all extra We live in the Cove and walk here. We wish this was better. More authentic, mex music, Try harder. We might come back in 2026 Locals

Yelp
I've been coming to this place for years and always loved it -- great vibe, great bartenders, and always such a cozy spot to hang out. I recently went back after being away for three years (moved to the west coast), and noticed they've moved a couple of stores down the strip mall. The new space looks nice, but it definitely feels different -- it lost a bit of that cozy, warm atmosphere it used to have. It felt a little colder and not quite the same. That said, the food is still delicious and the drinks are just as good as I remember. Big shoutout to our bartender Jordan -- he honestly made the experience so much better.

Best Mexican food in United States hands down! You need to put a Casa Maya in NYC! Our servers were outstanding as well especially Jordan, Tino and Davide

Yelp
Would definitely return to Casa Maya! Just over the bridge in the shopping plaza. Parking is a little tight on a busy weekend so give yourself a few extra minutes. Sat outside on a nice evening. Service was good and there's a gentleman running everything who is truly awesome!! He was making sure everything was handled, helping his servers, inviting people in for a margarita, etc. So friendly and welcoming with an upbeat vibe. Ordered tortilla soup, chicken tostadas, beef birria tacos, margaritas and mocktails. Their chicken tostadas were okay (wouldn't order again), but the beef birria tacos were awesome!! Definitely order those! A cup of chicken tortilla soup is the size of an entree and quite tasty. Of course we received chips/salsa with the meal. The margaritas were excellent and really loved the mocktails!! Oh- they give u cute Chiclet gum packs at the end. Nice touch!

Yelp
Excellent food with hard to find dishes like pibil, pipian, and always great service.

Yelp
this was the best. Wasn't amazing experience I would come back anytime. my sister and I came. We had drinks we had food. It was wonderful. I love the experience. It was incredible.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant atmosphere. Chips and Salsa were probably the best that I have ever had. Warm, crisp and such fresh Salsa. We started the meal with Mexican Street Corn - wonderful! I thought it was going to be too much crema or mayo - nope. Great balance of corn, seasoning, crema and fresh cheese. I am not a huge cheese fan, but I loved the cheese in this dish. For dinner we ordered beef enchilada (Boxito) and I had Chile Rellenos filled with seafood. The beef enchilada was flavorful and the Rellenos seafood was simple with Fish and shrimp. It was full of flavor, lots of sauce and the fish was a high quality fish that tasted like fresh fish - maybe Mahi. My only regret was going there when I wasn't very hungry. I probably would have enjoyed my meal even more and would have enjoyed more of the fresh chips and Salsa.

Yelp
Amazing place- we have been coming here for 18 years- the owner takes pride and greets you personally / tonight Jordan was our server and was fabulous!

Yelp
This restaurant gets busy. We waited for like twenty minutes before getting seated. They had chairs outside to wait. We walked the area instead. They texted us when the table was ready. The inside is long. I sat outside. I got a Guavarita. It was a guava drink that was very good. We ended up getting the queso fundido. We all liked it. It tasted good. The salsa here is very good. It was a Tuesday and the restaurant had a good taco special going. We got tacos. Olivia our waitress was great. She gave us a menu to choose from and how many tacos. They later came in a tray. Those little suckers are filling lol. They tasted good. I liked the tacos here. We all had a great time. The personalized take-home container was nice and very thoughtful. I enjoyed the Chiclets. They reminded me of my youth. I had a good time eating here.

Leslie L.

Yelp
Jordan, our server was amazing! Great food and Great service!!! Highly recommend this Casa Maya!

Geneva D.

Yelp
This is wonderful place for a date or dinner with the family. The ambience when you walk in is wonderful. You can tell they carefully selected pieces to represent the Latin culture. There is a bar near the front and a bartender making drinks in the back to view. The food was wonderful. I ordered Mayan tacos. They were so good! It was well seasoned and the tortilla was firm to eat so it wasn't falling apart like other restaurants. My friend ordered grilled octopus. This was my first time eating it and it was delicious! The owner walked around and spoke to his customers. He's a nice guy that will make sure you're having a good time.

Yelp
Been coming here for years, taco Tuesday is the best! Pork belly, crispy mahi & steak are my favorites! Don't forget the margaritas. Jordan was quick with the service

Yelp
Went to try this restaurant last night on a friends recommendation and was not as impressed as I was hoping to be. We were seated promptly and the waitress came over to start taking our order. We ordered simple food - a street corn for an app, I did mixed fajitas(well done onions and peppers) and my husband got the casa maya burrito with chicken. The chips and salsa came quickly and were the best part of the meal to be honest. Salsa had flavor and chips were fresh My fajitas were delivered first (before the app even) but nothing with it. The onions and peppers were barely cooked and I informed the waitress it was incorrect and she seemed to have an attitude to take it back. I asked about the street corn app and she said "we only have one cook tonight and he is backed up on orders" and then ran off rolling her eyes. Shortly after she went to the front stand and we could see her and the hostess looking at our table as to be talking about us. It was very uncomfortable and I wish I had left then. Took some time for the waitress to check in and offer refills on drinks. My husband ordered a drink (spicy grilled pineapple margarita) which was delivered incorrectly and after the meal The drink came incorrectly and when we asked if it was correct (it didn't even have pineapple on it ) she said yeah it's right and walked away. My husband's burrito was plain as plain could be. It had no sauce, basically just boiled chicken with no seasoning rolled into a tortilla topped with some melted cheese. Rice and beans had no flavor either. Finally the assistant manager gabby came over and was as apologetic as could be. She tried to swap out the burrito for my husband but he was already over it and ate what he could. She tried to offer dessert but we were already frustrated at this point and wanted to leave. She comped the bill completely and asked us to please come back and give them another try and to ask for her specifically. All restaurants have a rough night and unfortunately our first experience was that night.

Stewart A.

Yelp
High quality authentic Mexican cuisine. Excellent service (Jacob was great), pleasant and comforable ambiance, and great margaritas.

Julie C.

Yelp
Service and people are great. Drinks delicious. Lighted Bar is very beautiful but you can't read menus or see your food. Barstools are very comfortable but way too short. Steak tacos - lots of steak and delicious but nothing else on them, just steak. Odd.
