We stumbled upon Casa Maya while trying to fix a late night taco craving. The interior is quaint, yet cozy and inviting, and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. We were seated immediately and given the menu. The menu isn't expansive, but covers all that one would need in a place like this. We started off with the chips and guacamole which is served in what I think is a fried tortilla bowl. It was FANTASTIC! The chips were fresh and perfectly crispy. We ate the entire appetizer, including the tortilla bowl. For entrees, we opted to try four different tacos, all of which were nothing short of fantastic. We got chicken, baja fish, carnitas (pork) and birria. Of the four, the standouts were definitely the carnitas and the fish. They just had something extra in them that made them top tier. The size of the tacos were about standard, and they were all very filling, and very fairly priced.
My date opted to only have water, while I had a cocktail featuring gin, prosecco and other ingredients. I don't remember the name but it was very good. The other cocktails on the menu looked good as well, but I only had one. When I return I'll be sure to try more.
Service was very speedy and professional. The staff was always around in case of questions, and the food came out super fast. The only reason that didn't give this establishment 5 stars is because I think the interior could use a bit of an upgrade. It was a little too plain for my taste. It could be the look/vibe that they're going for, which isn't a bad thing at all. But I think they could add some lights or artwork on the walls. That's just a personal thing, and it definitely doesn't take away from anything else previously mentioned.
Overall, this is definitely a great spot for a date, quick bite, or even some drinks after work to unwind and hang out. Although it's far from where I reside in Westchester, I'm definitely planning to come back and try their other offerings. Highly recommended by yours truly
