I had a great meal here. Probably best to go at an off hour. You're handed a laminated card in a number if languages listing your a la carte options. I had read about the whole, quartered roasted chicken so I ordered that along with a glass of sidra and some bread. Everything arrived within a couple of minutes. The chicken was cooked perfectly, sprinkled liberally with sea salt, with just the right amount iof drippings for the bread, and charred in just the right places. For dessert, oddly, there is no coffee available, but a slice of Tarta de Santiago, a cakey, eggy, chewey wedge coated with powdered sugar, was excellent. I should add that my waiter was helpful and friendly, though around five he and most if the other waiters sat down for
their own dinners. No problem. I just politely asked someone else for the check. The bill was around 18 euros. The ambience is also interesting as the place seems not to have changed much since the 19th century, lots of sidra barrels, brown, worn paneling, old mirrors and such. I would love to come back and order just sa porción of the chicken and try a porción of the chorizo as well. You may want to combine this meal with a visit to the Ermitá de San Antonio de la Florida down the block where Goya is buried under beautiful frescos that he painted. The visit to the church is free.
