Best Takeaway Food in South West London During Coronavirus Stay at Home | Eater London

"Casa Mofongo Bar brings the Dominican party to south west Londoners’ homes. The mashed ripe plantain with minced beef ketchup and mayo and fried belly pork mofongo are must-orders, as well as a wide selection of hearty Dominican stews, golden fried chicken pica pollo and chicharron. Spans the usual delivery options on Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats, with the option for curbside pickup and no-contact delivery." - Angela Hui

The Best-Value Restaurants in South West London Are Not ‘Cheap Eats’ | Eater London

"There’s a scene in Seinfeld where Jerry asserts that ‘salsa’ is the number one condiment in America simply because everyone loves saying the word “salsa”. Folding one’s mouth around the word “mofongo” is a similar delight, and many food lovers’ introduction to this Puerto Rican/Dominican speciality is Guy Fieri’s iconic review of Benny’s Seafood, in which he repeats the word “mofongo” with various emotions and voices: incredulous (moWHATo? moFONgo??), existential crisis (what does mofongo MEAN?) excitement, sotto voce conspiratorial whisper, and finally, acceptance (“mofongo is mofongo”) — declaring it “off the hook” and “legit”. London’s Flavortown is located in Loughborough Junction, in true south London style between a fake Morley’s simply called MMM and a vape shop. Casa Mofongo makes this sandcastle of smashed unripe plantain and chicharron in the Dominican mode: dry, with salty cheese melted on top and fatty pork on the side, the plantain itself absolutely honking of enough garlic to appease those who double the garlic in any recipe. Outside of the mofongo there are plenty of rarely seen Dominican stews, as well as a pica pollo up there with La Barra’s: golden fried chicken, chicharron, and bofes (dried lungs)." - Jonathan Nunn

Obsessed! The atmosphere was amazing! The service even better, and the food, if you know, you know Dominican food is the best! The food was fresh, tasty, and absolutely delicious. I wish our hotel was not so far away or else we would’ve ate there every single night! The prices were also great. If you get a chance to go here, GO! you wont regret it!

The place is ideal to enjoy a typical Dominican cuisine. Ambiance and decoration are very pleasant and inviting. Although we had to wait for over 45 minutes for the food, it was pretty tasty. The chicken and beef Bandera was delicious, the meat was very tener, tasty and very well cooked. Most of the dishes were to a good cooking standard. The tamarind juice, superb, I like the fact that it is kind of fermented, it adds a very special taste. Unfortunately and due to the inadmissible delays in service, we decided not to order more juice or dessert. We ended the dinner quite upset, we we felt absolutely ignored for over an hour after the main meal. I actually had to go to the bar and ask for my bill, as we failed to be seen or attended in numerous times. It is an absolute shame that service is soo poor in this restaurant, and on tip of that, we had to pay 10% of the total bill to cover such a bad service. It was an experience, I don't believe I'll be back again.

Great local hangout for Dominican food, drink, music and community 🇩🇴 Food could have been more cooked, and better presented. Music great but the volume of music was very loud. Better for a night out than sit down meal. So perhaps arrive early for food.

I really enjoy this spot! Although I reside in Lisbon, this is my third visit to Casa Mofongo to satisfy my cravings for Dominican cuisine when I’m in London. The decor of the place is incredibly charming definitely transports you to the Caribbean. The staff is super friendly, not to mention the owner Angel, super nice guy that comes around checking up on his customers to see if they are enjoying themselves. We had beef stew with rice, beans, salad and fried plantains as sides and it’s forever my favorite dish there. Their menu has a variety of amazing dishes. If you in London and need that good Dominican food fix, this is the place to go, don’t hesitate you won’t regret.

I’ve never heard Aventura outside of a concert before in London, so that was a huge plus when we arrived at Casa Mofongo. While I went with a friend, it’s family friendly and it was karaoke night. They’re busy which is likely why the service for ordering and waiting for our food was SO slow. My friend had entirely finished her meal by the time my own arrived. But it was SO worth it, the portions are huge and well worth the money and wait, because it tasted phenomenal.

Great service and the food was delicious. It wasnt as good as my Aunt’s cooking but close. Everyone was nice, however they were out of Presidente’s and oddly the bathroom sinks did not work. Thankfully I had hand sanitizer with me.

Great atmosphere, second time we come back for a mofongo, super tasty mangu and Bandera dominicana. Great dessert (arroz con leche) and coffee on the house
