"Located behind the parliament building (Congreso de los Diputados), Casa Montero’s philosophy can be summed up by the phrase “There is virtue in simplicity”. In this restaurant, with its minimalist-industrial decor dominated by simple features such as ceramics and terracotta, the cuisine is full of traditional soul accompanied by the occasional dash of creativity. The concise à la carte features medias raciones, a handful of specials, as well as some superb appetisers (creamy croquettes, crispy bacon “torreznos” etc), mouthwatering stews and a selection of dishes cooked on the grill." - Michelin Inspector

I found this place on the Michelin Guide website. And so glad we went. We shared 2 starters, 3 main courses and 2 desserts. Every dish that we had were flavouful and beautifully presented. The Pig Ear's sandwich was unique and I liked the texture with the crispy pig's ear. My grilled turbot was cooked to perfection. The cauliflower and peppers were roasted till slightly charred yet still retain its sweetness. The Mint Soup that came with the Berries and Yogurt Ice Cream elevated the taste to the next level. The toasted milk flan wasn't overly sweet and the texture was so creamy and smooth. If I visit Madrid again, I definitely will return to this restaurant.

Probably the best 1 Michelin star restaurant ever dined. We love going to Michelin star places and this was so good and very affordable. The bread was olive oil, delicious, their beef cheeks bread was absolutely melts in your mouth. Servers are so professional and nice! Highly recommend!

Amazing spot. Food was fantastic! one of the best restaurants we had lunch at during our trip here. The sweet bread was very well made. The chicken rice was a very creative dish and packed with flavor. We also order at the pork belly and peppers which were fantastic. Staff was extremely friendly and very accommodating of a little one. Would definitely come back again.

Got the croquettes, torrezno, the steak, and something else. The sauce for my plate was so divine—actually all the sauces that they brought out were so so good. i kept cross dipping sauces with different protein idc they were that good Dessert was caramelized french toast and cheesecake (?) Great dining experience!

Recommend the torrezno and the cheesecake- these were delicious. Sirloin steak was tasty but nothing special. Service could have been a little better. €2.50 each for a piece of mediocre bread seems a bit much though.

Wow wow wow. This well deserved michelin starred retaurant is not only amazing is also price competitive. At about €60 per person this is one of the cheapest michelin star restaurants in Madrid. I had the best monkfish of my life in this place. Almost equally amazing were the artichokes. The staff was very honest and pleasant while service was flawless. The cherry on the cake was the fondant cheese cake. Out of this world. I will surely be back.

Amuse Bouche: little Carmelized onion tuna bite. Yum. Croquettes: 8.5/10 reminds me of bittaballen. Like a fried jamon and Carmelized onion gravy. Jamon: 8/10 really good. Potato fish salad thing: 9/10 looks like a sushi roll is wildly good Pork belly: 8.5/10 just delectable Aged beef (looks like strip) 8.5/10 great aging and texture. Espresso and French toast with ice cream: 8/10 so good. Best I had in Madrid including El Lando! Come here. Eat here. Enjoy. Oh the wine was stellar.
