Where To Eat In The Garment District - New York - The Infatuation

"Casa Nonna is the sort of place where you can plan a last-minute dinner for your boss or some clients when you need something nice in the Garment District and you don’t want to get fired. The food is Italian, and while it isn’t the best you’ll find in NYC, the pastas are solid, there are plenty of options, and they have a eggplant parm side that’s one of the better ways to get a serving of vegetables. The space is also huge, with a bunch of big round tables and leather booths, and at any given time there will probably be at least three boat owners here." - bryan kim

Absolutely outstanding! This place was a highlight of our trip to Wilmington. I’ll start with the outstanding service of Veronica. She was extremely attentive and kind to us. She went above and beyond with her service that I feel it was even closer to an experience. She referred us to her manager to give us some recommendations to different spots in the city and surrounding areas. He was able to give us many good recommendations and again… the service was just outstanding. So much so that we came the very next day for dinner. The manager and Veronica remembered us and greeted us kindly. This time we sat at the bar and had great service from the bartender V. Now to talk about the drinks and food from our lunch and dinner. We got chopped salad, the Sunday ragu, a sandwich, mushroom pasta. As well as a variety of drinks. Everything was chefs kiss, so yummy and delicious. If we come back to Wilmington we are coming back here for sure!

Had a great dinner at Casa Noona. Located inside the Deco Food Hall, it’s a full service restaurant with its own bar, which gives it a unique vibe within the space. We started with two glasses of the Lockhart Cabernet and an espresso martini all great choices to kick off the night. The mozzarella stick with eggplant parm mousse was super creative, and the “Corn” pizza, with its mix of ingredients, was packed with flavor and definitely a standout. We finished off with the tiramisu and a Meloncello cooler, both of which hit the spot. Our waitress Veronica was amazing super friendly, gave great recommendations, and made the whole experience even better. The staff were really attentive and explained each dish in detail, which made it feel extra thoughtful. Drinks and food came out at a nice pace too. We also got to meet the manager Gabe, who shared the story behind the restaurant and some of the recipes. It was a really nice personal touch. The vibe of the place was fun and welcoming, and everything from the service to the food was spot on. I’ll definitely be back.

We were traveling and decided we wanted to get something to eat. I was a bit surprised by this restaurant, as it wasn't really what I expected from looking at their Google listing. For starters, while it's a reasonably nice restaurant, it's essentially in a food court, so it's very loud, lacks privacy, and shares facilities like bathrooms with all of the other restaurants there. So that was a little odd to me and a big surprise. Parking is also a bit of an issue as there isn't a lot of parking around. The service was very friendly and attentive, but as loud as it was, it was definitely difficult for us to hear eachother. For dinner we ordered the branzino and the sausage pizza. Both were good, I particularly liked the pizza. I would go back if we were looking for this type of experience.

I had the pleasure of visiting Casa Nonna for the first time yesterday, and it certainly lived up to my expectations! As a regular at Bardea, I’ve come to expect top-notch service and unique, delicious dishes—and Casa Nonna did not disappoint. Our server, Amaunte, was excellent. He was incredibly personable and made our dining experience feel special from start to finish. My husband tried the mozzarella stick paired with eggplant parm mousse, and said it's one of the best he’s ever had. He also enjoyed the branzino, which was served in a split style—easy to eat and full of flavor. I opted for the spaghetti, which was delicious, complemented perfectly by fresh basil. The drinks from the bar were equally impressive, making the meal even more enjoyable. A highlight was the cozy ambiance—like being invited into an Italian Nonna’s home for dinner. To top it all off, we received a thoughtful note from our server, Amaunte thanking us for our visit, which was such a nice personal touch. I’m already looking forward to my next visit, especially to try the chicken parm appetizer, served pizza-style. All in all, it was a fantastic experience, and I can’t wait to return!

I absolutely loved my visit with friends to Casa Nonna’s. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the decor combined with the atmosphere really makes this my new favourite place!! The staff really go out of their way to make sure you are well looked after as you would be in an Italian home. The surprises of the tangerine and walnuts and thank you note make you feel special and valued. Can’t wait for my next visit!! Thank you team Casa Nonna!!!

If you’re looking for an unforgettable Italian dining experience, this restaurant is a must-visit! From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is charming, with stunning décor that captures the essence of Italy. Whether you’re seated near cozy rustic accents or enjoying the elegant lighting, the atmosphere is perfect for both casual dining and special occasions. But the real star here is the food. Every dish is a masterpiece, bursting with fresh, authentic flavors. The octopus is perfectly al dente, and the sauces are rich and full of depth. The mozzarella stick is equally impressive, with a crispy, flavorful crust and topping that are both inventive and classic. Their wine selection complements the meal perfectly, offering an impressive range of Italian options. Service is friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re craving amazing Italian food in a beautifully decorated setting, this is the place to be! Highly recommend.

Casa Nonna at DE.CO is a fantastic addition to Wilmington’s dining scene! Located right inside the Hotel Du Pont, it’s a full-service Italian spot with a stylish but comfortable vibe. The space is gorgeous—wood-paneled ceilings, geometric tile floors, and an open kitchen where you can watch the magic happen. The bar area has a great vibe too. The food is outstanding. We started with the Porchetta Rotolini—crispy, sesame-crusted rolls stuffed with porchetta, broccoli rabe, and provolone, served with this insanely good long hot cream sauce. Could’ve eaten a whole plate of just that. Baked Clams had a spicy ‘nduja kick and a rich, buttery leek sauce. Very flavorful. The Mozzarella Stick is not what you’d expect. It's huge, crispy, and topped with an eggplant parm mousse over a yellow tomato sauce. Next-level inventive. For mains, the Mortadella Pizza was unique and delicious. They fry the dough before baking it, so it’s light and crispy, topped with creamy stracciatella, yellow tomatoes, and pistachio crumble. The Pork Osso Buco Piccata was insane. Melt-in-your-mouth tender with a bright, piccata sauce—definitely worth ordering. Finished with Tiramisu and Panna Cotta—both excellent. The tiramisu was classic and perfectly done, and the panna cotta had a citrusy, white chocolate twist with dark cherries that balanced everything out. Service was friendly and attentive, and with happy hour from 4-7 PM, it's a great spot for drinks and small plates, too. We wanted to try the pasta and a few more things, so looking forward to going back. Highly recommend if you’re in Wilmington or staying at the Du Pont!

Loved the food here! The Chicken Parm and mozzarella sticks appetizer had a fun twist on the traditional version. The fig pizza had a sweet honey drizzle that balanced the savory prosciutto. The barramundi was okay and had a lot of seasoning. Focaccia was fluffy.

Yelp
Great experience in Wilmington. When we were visiting Wilmington we were looking for somewhere good to eat, and social media recommended we tried out casa nonna. The ambiance is super fun as it's hidden to the side of a food hall, but tucked away so it feels very intimate. The food was phenomenal. I got the chicken Parmesan (although it's an appetizer it filled me up), my husband got the sausage pizza and my friend got eggplant parm. While the food was amazing, the one complaint I had was the service. I felt bad I feel like the server was handling every single table, and while the server was super nice and helpful, our food took forever and getting water and the check took a while as well. Overall good experience and will be back when I again to try new food here.

Yelp
Not as familiar with the area, so not sure if this joint is good or bad for the area. I tried several dishes and all were okay, but I think there may be better options in the area. Red sauce is tangy and thin. Fried mozz has every sauce except tomato (that I could taste). Fun thing is the happy hour at bar serves wings. The texture is good, but the "buffalo" flavor I ordered came out very sweet and tangy, almost like bbq. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is friendly.

Yelp
Another fantastic concept from the Bardea Restaurant Group! Casa Nonna is a new sit-down restaurant within the DE.CO food hall in downtown Wilmington, and we very much enjoyed our recent dinner there. The extensive menu features pizzas, some Italian classic pastas ("Nonna's House Pasta") and some reimagined Italian dishes ("Our House Pasta"), but every bite we had was delicious. We started with the mozzarella stick (yes, singular) --- the biggest mozzarella stick I have ever seen, topped with an eggplant parmesan inspired mousse. The outside was crispy and delicious, the cheese pull was Instagram-perfect, and the flavors were incredible. We then tried the Fig pizza, featuring figs (duh), prosciutto, arugula, and burrata, which was a delightful combination of flavors and textures that came together perfectly. We were drawn to the chef's favorite asterisks on the menu next to the Pasta Mista from the Nonna's House Pasta menu, which was a flavorful bowl of mismatched pasta shapes with a slight kick of spice. We enjoyed this, but the other dishes were a bigger highlight for us. Finally, we wrapped up the meal with the tiramisu... and it was possibly the best tiramisu I have ever had. 10/10, would order every time. The cocktail/drink menu is solid as well, with something for every palate. I'm not sure if they're offering this drink menu at the DE.CO bar or not, but would be nice to grab a drink to pair with dinner from any of the food stalls at DE.CO.

Yelp
This is located INSIDE of D.E.C.O. Definitely worth a stop and gluten friendly menu! I had everything except the agnolotti (as this is premade and not gluten free). The mozz stick was crazy out of this world. I would love to do one of the "girls night out" when they have a larger app menu (i think¿). The server was super sweet. I did order a red wine and it was served chilled which threw me off for a minute. So far Bardea Food Group crushes the game! The inside is very chill and the bar is set up nicely where this could easily be a great date spot or middle of the week dinner!

Yelp
Food was amazing! We sat at the bar, which is roomy and accommodating for eating. The servers are all very knowledgeable of both drinks and food. They take things (the food) seriously there, which is a plus. The only cons were the front of the house was very drafty, most likely at no fault of their own since it's on the side of a food court. I love tiramisu and theirs was not it, at all. I tasted zero espresso and it was overly sweet. Fritto Misto was our favorite! Espresso martinis are my favorite around, so far! Would love to come back!

Yelp
Attractive downtown eatery with attentive staff and vibrant crowd. A small menue, a good thing. Some food is good, some not so much. Prices are very reasonable.

Yelp
First visit to Cassa Nonna in the Delco food court in downtown Wilmington DE. They have a nice sit down space & food comes from the adjacent Bardea kitchen . We started with the porchetta and it was the best, Moist & delicious 2 large portions We split the Fig pizza, which is prosciutto, ricotta , arugula with fig jam instead of tomato sauce. Very tasty and not too salty. Wines by glass were good too. Didn't have time for dessert but we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Veronica and the salad were the only things worth praising. The rest was a disappointment. Gabe, the manager, showed no real interest in customer satisfaction. Five out of six meals came out cold or barely warm, and appetizers took over 45 minutes to arrive. Terrible service, long waits, and poor food quality -- I won't be coming back.

Yelp
The space is gorgeous and I felt transported from Wilmington to Manhattan. Falon was a wonderful server providing great suggestions on the menu and checking back appropriately throughout our meal. Now, on to the food! We started with the focaccia and fritto misto. The calamari was so tender and well-flavored. Entrees were lasagna and linguine with clams. Both were incredible. They have a full bar with extensive options. I highly recommend and can not wait to return.

Yelp
I had the distinct pleasure of meeting an overbearing attendant. This person served an unevenly heated yet near raw microwaved ersatz eggplant nestled beside a section of petrified, pre-frozen, and insipid spaghetti. This gustatory duo rendered the palate with an indescribable glimpse into a cafeteria from the Stygian depths of Orwell's "1984." The meal sports a hefty price and as a bonus it was enhanced by a noisy environment composed of automata. Such a outpouring of sensory munificence turns a one-star rating into a monumental feat for this pseudo ristorante.

Yelp
Do not get the spaghetti it's very bad it's like microwaved. The bread was good but that was all. Get the nukis those r good.

Yelp
Ate here last night with business associates. Everything was top notch and delicious. Standouts: the calamari -- super crispy and tender, with sliced fried jalapenos interspersed among the calamari (honestly I could have eaten a basket of the fried jalapenos!); the prosciutto appetizer was absolutely fabulous, with perfectly balanced sweet and salty elements -- would definitely order again. Highly recommend the mozzarella stick - crispy and presented beautifully with an eggplant mousse-like sauce. I only ate appetizers but my companions all had various pasta dishes which all received high praise. The wine list is decent, although I wish they had a few more "by the glass" options. We did not have dessert because we were too full. I'll be sure to leave room for it on my next visit. Service was a little slow to start, but I think they may have been understaffed for a bit when we got there. Service definitely picked up as our dinner continued. All in all, it was the quality I expected from a Bardea venture and I will definitely be back with family and friends.
